Hi Helloworld,

Thanks for the prompt reply!

I will post the Bluetooth section of the registry later when I'm near a computer.

I am out of idea now, this problem seems like the camera problem, temperamental, the BT hands free was OK before, only just recently it become like this.

This is what I done yesterday:

(1) Did a full backup of current state with SPB Backup.

(2) Hard reset, after initial setup, paired all 3 of my BT headsets, everyone of them working PERFECT!! no speaker phone, just normal, except for A2DP auto reconnect. So this confirmed SOMETHING is causing the problem.

(3) Restore backup made in (1) which has the BT problem.

(4) Upon reset... the problem has GONE?!! WTF? and the BT handsfree, wireless stereo have been working fine since (3)?!

I will still upload the .reg which supposed to have the problem later.

*sigh*...

Thanks,

K

I just had a thought, MAY BE... at some stage something has caused a hardware glitch in the 6828, into a state that it cannot get out of, until a hard-reset or the battery is taken out. If this happen again, I will try take the battery out to see.

Emmmmm, my wm6 rom really have some strange problem. All the rom works very well until one day, the the phone radio is not functional. It can not dectect my mobile operator, and then the camera flicker like mad. I hard reset several time and can not get it work. Roms from b29 to b46 all stop working. Interesting ? Strange?

Also, spb backup restores can not restore something. I don't get why. I installed resco explorer and can uninstall successfully. But after a full restore, I can neither uninstall or reinstall it!

This makes me recalling a programmer's phrase "Code rot". A program is working very well without any problem at first. And after leaving the code for a while, some problems occur. And after months, the code can not even be used due to serious problem just like the food rots. Maybe my roms rot!

Anyway, just for fun.

Hi Helloworld1,

how about hp audio in b110? is it working well? is the sound louder than the rom without hp audio?

Thanks for your great job.:):):)

The ipaq audio can enhance audio quality but can not make speaker laud though. The srs can co-work with ipaq audio. srs increases volume because it replaces the wavedev.dll with atom life one. I decide to keep hp's because the distortion seems less.

I do not have a CHT wm6.1 rom as a model. So It will take me lots of time to translate the language file one by one, which is unacceptable and not interesting at all.

i used to use your rom update 11, the sound louder, but no ipaq audio. no more 3D surround, so i change to Nhocbanme rom,

What is the output current of your car adaptor? mine is about 1A, and it charges OK, may be go to eBay or local electronic shop and get a new one that works (it's quite cheap here in Australia).

I used to be able to charge on USB from a Mac, but not anymore, however if I plug it into any Windows box/laptop, it will charge fine.

To charge from a Mac, there is a trick, install WM5torage, run the app and click activate, it will charge fine, may be you can try this on your car adaptor.

K
Hi kusanagi,
My car adapter is 1A.
Thanks for the information about WM5torage, neat little app and it lets the car charger charge the 6828 battery OK and also works on my Mac where it didn't before.
The bonus is being able to use the 6828 SD card as a thumb drive on PC and Mac. :D

Cheers.

Good thing about WM5Storage is it's a freeware.

Hello Helloworld
I'm still on b36.
I'm hesitating upgrading.
I read that the 6.1 ROMs comsumes more power. Is there a big difference beween b110 and b36 ?
The main bug I have is : if I soft reboot 3 (?) times the mobile, then I cannot switch on or off the WIFI. So sometime I have to unplug the battery.
Is this corrected since b36 ?
I also experience some freeze while I was playing around with the today themes screens.
No special problem with BT.
Thanks kusanagi for your trick to be able to charge in the car with WM5torage.
I'll try it asap. (I have a 750mA car charger)
This forum is so good !:)

The battery life is a little shorter ,about ten to thirty minutes shorter. The power management patch will cover this.
The wifi has no problem in my test.
The freeze problem occurs but the possibility is very very low. I have encountered only twice after 6.1 rom.

Ok, I'll give the new rom a try.
For you information I tried to charge in my car, it doesn't work. I tried a 1.25A car charger. (Covertec)
In "power" menu, I see the display "charging" for about 5 seconds, and then charge switches off (displays "power remaining :"). The red LED doesn't turn on. If I have WMStorage and activated or not, no change.
Are there any changes on charge with the b110 ?

Sorry to hear the WM5Storage didn't work for you, I think as far as charging concern, we have mixed results here, my OEM car/home charger can charge no problem regardless of ROM version, it only fails to charge on a Mac based computers without the present of Activesync, which can be overcome with the help of WM5Storage activated (on b39).

I also have had usb cables that worked before and now didn't want to work, using a different USB cable fixes that, strange? I would think that all cables are wired the same? but apparently even varied cables produce varied results. emmm....

FYI, if the Red LED doesn't continuously stay on, that means no charging.

That would be really good, helloworld1. The charging problem is a real nuisance.
I've got a work around with WM5torage but it would be really nice if your ROMs have the correct charging software.

Will you only do that for WM6.1 or do it also for WM6?

Also, which is the recommended WM6.1 ROM? You have b39 listed as recommended ROM for WM6 but no recommendation for WM6.1.

Thanks.

This is really weird, did a full SPB Backup, hard-reset, then retored from SPB Backup, my Bluetooth (Speaker phone) problem is gone, and now guess what? I can charge my 6828 on a Mac with any usb cables not using any tricks!! that's right, no WM5Storage is needed!!! WTF?! Looks like the ROM has a mind of it's own.

So try do a full backup with SPB Backup, hard-reset then restore, hope that will fix the charging issue for you, OR try take out the battery for awhile then put back on and see if it works.

I suspect there are lockups within the hardware, which required a hard-reset or battery taken out to reset it.

Weird all right!
Before I installed WM5torage, I had to replace my battery (bought a Hong Kong large capacity one that died so put the original back in) but it didn't make any difference to the charging problem. Maybe I didn't leave it out long enough  although it certainly looked like a hard reset to me.

I'm using PPCPimBackup, didn't do a backup before I took the battery out though. How does that backup program compare with SPB Backup?

Mostly, PPCPimBackup is free. And also, it does only backup the PIM data recover data by injecting into the exist database.

I see that there are different kinds of miniSD cards?
The 4GB one I am looking at on e-bay, the description says "This is not the SDHC type / version therefore it can be used with older devices too that support 4 GB functions and of course new devices that support 4 GB" :( . Does that make a difference?

Ah, looked it up on the Internet, difference between SD and SDHC explained, either should work OK in 6828 if it has SDHC driver.

Someone reported the 8G SDHC worked fine a few pages back, you can read it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2258878#post2258878

So I'll say as long as it's SDHC labelled, it will worked regardless of capacity, but for the moment 8G is the largest in microSD which you need a miniSD adaptor, for some reason, I can't find SDHC version of the miniSD.

The battery out method is only my guess, if that didn't work for you, you can try both hard-reset and battery out.

Correction: I said I could use any cables, I thought I could until I tried the 6828 original cable on a Mac, it didn't work! BUT the cable that came with my 2.5" portable ext hard drive which didn't work before now worked, I'm actually charging it now on a Mac. So try a few usb cables you can find.

I am so wondered what differences between these cables have...

PimBackup only backup your contacts, calendar etc, but not any of the installed programs, SPB Backup however (a commercial software which is cheap to buy), do backup everything, with it you can restore your phone back to exactly how it was after a hard-reset (assumed you made a backup before hard-reset).

Hi Helloworld, or anyone,

Just today I realised my internal storage has decreased quite significantly despite I haven't done anything special on the 6828. I then found this MN1RIL.txt sitting in the device root folder taking up the space, trouble is, I cannot remove it, not even in safe mode, so I did a search around and found this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349074 which reported that this file can grow as large as 50+mb!!

Do you have any idea what this file is? The file size is constantly changing, but always getting bigger and bigger.

Another question, is Touchpal input working on your latest 6.1 ROM?

Thanks,

I do not have this file. There are several way to delete a file. Using resco explorer 6, you can rename the file and reset then del it. Also, you can change the attribute of the file without archive and with read-only attr. If succeed, reset device and del it.
If both can not work, you can backup w/o the file and restore.

TouchPal 6.1 Chinese edition(free) is working fine.

Check if the right network settings is loaded through connection -> advanced -> select network.
Check if the proxy is set.
Do a soft reset if the connection seems on but not get connected at all.
Try enter IP address to see if it works. If so, change DNS settings.
Note the WM6.1 series ROM contains the HP's old auto config program, it may do something wrong. Try installing the newer network wizzard to config the net.

Thanks for the quick reply.

It is running fine on b39 right now, I was a bit exhausted in stuffing around, may be until I hit the next issue, then I'll give it another shot.

I did soft reset about 3 times, and hard reset once (initial clean boot upon ROM flash doesn't count), internet was no go. My carrier doesn't use any proxy, so it was unchecked, and IP is DHCP assigned, so there aren't many places I can tweak. BTW, I couldn't find the GPRS setting for PAP/CHAP or that 4R1T or 3R2T, but that doesn't matter since it can connect no problem, just no data coming through.

Where can I find this newer network config wizard?

Edit: For those who uses Microsoft Exchange Server PIMBackup, be aware that use PIMBackup to restore SMS only, leave everything else such as contact, task etc etc to the exchange to resync, as I ended up double up everything!

Dear Helloworld

i have updated (20080614 b110,update 12) and everything is working perfect! but just one thing about the camera, the Morph/Editor in the Camera application seems to be gone, and also the clip arts are gone too...i really play with that alot, is there anyways that u can put those back into the camera application? then i think this is really the most stable rom for the Rw6828.

Again thanks for your hard work...i dont think ill change my phone until it breaks...because its got now what a new and expensive phone on the market has now...

summary of all my problems

After flashing my 6815, I tried to reinstall my original ROM but:

installing original ROM WWE or in my language (ITA) via MiniSD (128MB) results in a complete installation, but at soft-reset (or hard-reset) my PDA doesn't go after the boot HP blue screen
installing the original ROM WWE or ITA via hpRUU patched doesn't function at all because the program (even if it is patched) says that the update is incompatible (as you can see in the image below), and I tested it with WWE and ITA rom
http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/5961/ruugy0.jpg
I have founded a script to add header to the original rom in order to use the "Device Software Update Utility.exe" (the one used for the "via PC" method), and it installs the original rom, but after softreset my HP stops at the boot HP blue screen (the same thing happened with the MiniSD method)
Then i tried to install NHOCBANME rom, but all versions 2 (2.01, 2.02 and 2.03) don't work anymore for me: after installation (via MiniSD or PC) my HP enters in a continuous boot cycle: it shows the HP blue boot screen and then it resets itself!!!!)
The only ROM by NHOCBANME that I can use are: 1.04 and 1.05!!!
Prior to every tests, I have changed my bootloader from 1.0.5 version to 1.0.1 via MiniSD method (by putting just the file eboot.nb0 on the MiniSD in boot mode)
Now I tried to reinstall BootLoader 1.0.5, but the problem doesn't change, so I must install the Update 12: 20080614,b110 rom to (or the NHOCBANME rom 1.5) to use my HP!!!

How can I turn back to my original HP rom?

Is there something other then boot and rom that can be damaged and reflashed?

PLEASE HELP ME!!

How to flash using SD Card(Recommended):
Extract diskimg.nb0 to a sd card (<1G is better), insert it into 6828, press&hold 2 soft key(-) and reset. After a while, it will be in PBL mode, wait 15-20min, it will hard reset itself and flash done. The first boot time is very long so be patient , you may click the screen so that the device will not auto-off.

[COLOR="DarkRed"]How to flash from PC with Windows XP (It is ok to run it in vmware)

This detailed procedure is from Knave, thanks for your great effort to help others. I modified it a little.
1. Check your Boat loader version
(do a soft reset, and check the value printed at the bottom during the HP logo screen)
2. If you noticed that the last line states BL 1.00.05, it means you have boat loader 1.05 installed. You will need to download and flash your phone back to 1.01 via http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...tem=ip-45503-1
3. After successfully downgraded your phone's boatloader, or your version was already v1.01, you can proceed to flash your phone to the rom.

With the check done, proceed with the required files.

1. Go to http://www.mediafire.com/?cw91jweyyxz and download the file. Unzip the contents to a folder (except for diskimg.nr0, you don't need this).
2. Download the file pcupdate.zip on the first post of this thread and unzip the contents to the same folder you used in step 1.
3. Download the latest Rom file and extract to the same folder
4. Execute the addheader.jar program in "cmd" by "cd" to your destiny folder and then execute "java -jar addheader.jar diskimg.nb0"(no quotes in the cmd). it will take a while to complete.
5. Move your phone to boatloader mode ( press the two - keys, follow by a poke at the soft reset hole with your stylus )
6. Connect the phone to the PC
7. Execute the Device Utility Update program and wait till it verifies the state.
8. Press Next to begin flashing.
9. Once completed, the phone will reset by itself. Wait for a while for it to startup.

Urgent Help!
I'm quite clumsy and accidentally plugged out my ppc during stage 4 of the update via pc (i did not look down the page and found out how to flash via pc) and downloaded above "http://www.mediafire.com/?cw91jweyyxz"
and copied it to a folder in My Documents (COMM) and started it I downloaded the 10th update of wm6.1 and copied to same folder and started it accomplished stages 1,2,3 but was plugged out at the start of 4. And after that it became dead with a hp bootloader logo that seems to be with a lot of lines in it and quite faint.I left it without the battery for 2.5hours and put it back in but the same thing again.
I am using the XP with NHOCBANME'S(TM) wm6.1 rom for hp ipaq with bootloader 1.0.1. It occasionally blacks out and display the same BL image. If i am right the bootloader is corrupted and is it possible that it may run as the device contains the ROM image?:(

Can u give me a bootloader installation without using activesync as my ppc can't connect but is recognizeable to the computer and can charge via com.

Thanks in advance for replying. Oh and great rom HELLOWORLD1.:)
PS:Please help me as I need my phone (Although its a junk) and if theres a similar case can you refer me?
If u wan't u may help the guy before this post first!

Hi Helloworld,

Sorry for bombarding you with troubles...

Everything seems going downhill from here...

The camera is now flickering non-stop, I used to get the flicker only 1 out of 10 soft-reset, now I am getting 10 of 10. Although I am still lucky that I hard-reset more than 3 times and soft-reset god knows how many times, it always booted the OS fine *finger crossed*.

And now I have this very faint buzzing sound coming from the LCD, yes LCD an not earpiece or speakers, when the LCD is on, I tried to cover the earpiece or speakers with my hand, the buzzing is clear and crisp, fingers over the LCD, noise is muffled, errr... When the room is quiet, I can hear it from half a metre away. Note that this buzzing is there even when 6828 is in Clean Boot screen. Any experience on this?

BTW: Is the camera in WM6.1 b110 completely fixed and flicker free? Looks like I might give b100 another shot, just hope the network wizard works.

Thanks for the reply.

Received my 4GB mini SD card and it works fine, it is non-SDHC - the 6828 doesn't seem to care.:p

K
Yes, the cable thing is very strange, I have three different ones and they all do different things dependent on what you connect the 6828 to. There doesn't seem to be any common thing among any of them.

I installed SPB backup a couple of days ago, it looks good. :)

I can say wm6.1 series almost completely fix the camera problem because I have found a way to patch 6.1 system. It is an dll file quartz.dll.
The noise is not caused by rom , I think. It is a hardware problem. Atom is known to have this problem. I have a palm tt3 which annoy me for about 3 years before buying my 6828.
BUT there is a workaround. Change the cpu clock(sys and lcd frequency) highes so the frequency of the screen buzz is higher and you will not hear it.
Note I do not have this problem myself. This is my experience on palm tt3.

It's strange that when you said the buzzing is a hardware problem, I have had this buzzing long time ago when I was still on WM5, it just happened one day until I did an official WM5 ROM upgrade then it stopped. This buzzing came back when I flashed back from WM6.1 b110 to b39, ???

Not sure how I can tweak the frequency though... :(

The camera on b39 is now completely not working, no amount of hard/soft-reset will stopped it, it either flickers like mad or just crashes, I think it has something to do with ROM flashing... is it possible that every ROM flashes are different despite using the same ROM? ... don't worry about this question, we have talked about this before...

I will try flash with b110 again tonight, just hope everything will just work... feel like a 3G iPhone now...

Thanks,

K

There will be a major update to release recently. I need to test for a little longer time. It resolves many of the previous bugs but break some of the app's registration info (it changes the device's identity). If anyone who are interested in this update, please wait to download it if you haven't downloaded the latest. If not, stay the rom that you think is the most stable.

1. SYS: The HP certificated system, so some previously unusable HP oem app like photosmart will work.
2. SYS: Fix the bluetooth headset auto connection again. Try it!
3. SYS: The time after hard reset is now 2008 not 2005.
4. OEM: Now you can select the lowest backlight(which is very dim) in the settings -> backlight just like HP's WM5.
5. OEM: System information is now HP's that gives you much more comprehensive information(Not all are accurate though).
6. OEM: The GPRS mode switch program return. Thanks kusanagi for indicating that.
7. BUGFIX: Solve the problem that the "tasks" can not create new task through menu.
8. BUGFIX: Fix the incompatibility problem with SPB Pocket Plus( some features are not working well previously).
9. BUGFIX: Fix the incompatibility problem with various input method. You can install as many as you can and many Input method and keyboard problem are working fine now.
10. BUGFIX: The confusing hard reset screen now won't display. It do clean reset without that screen just like old HP's WM5.(Press and hold power button and reset.)
11. BUGFIX: Fix the problem that the system may halt when playing Solitaire. Thanks martinrmn for finding this hidden bug.

Hi Helloworld,

Very good, that Network Wizard worked!!

So what is the ETA of the new proposed update? I have just moved to b110, I might wait for the next update before putting all my apps back on. TouchPal is my main input app, so very important for it to work.

Sorry I forgot your post. I think the bootloader is not corrupt because the normal bl screen may be twinkle and faint. Does sd card method work? How about the hp's original rom(replace hpruu first)?

Anyway there is a way to flash bootloader. Rename the hp official's xxeboot.nbf to eboot.nb0, put it on a sd card , and do just like a normal sd flash. BUT THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS! If you are not sure if you can successfully flashed using card DO NOT TRY THIS.

Please wait a while because the new update will break app registration. I will release after taken the most recent final exam in June 23.Also I need to test fop more time.
You can try if the current rom meet your need. I may do quick fix to some minor problem before releasing new.

I do not include hp camera because previously it is impossible and also I think atom's camera is faster. Sorry I may not include hp camera but I will find a way for you to install it if possible.

summary of all my problems

First use the bootable rom and and replace two exefiles(search this post),and flash using patched hpruu with all component including eboot!

Thanks for the hard work, the most important thing for now of course is your exam, good luck!!

I think I will stick around for the latest, because once I loaded all the apps back in, I will be very reluctant to upgrade again unless something is really broken, just like how I stuck to the b39.

I really would like to use the TouchPal which I believe would be fixed in the next upgrade along with other nitty-gritty issues, and at least one app I will have to re-apply for the registration code anyway, I might as well wait.

BTW, I realised the BT-DUN is working very well, however I've lost the "Beam File" service, as I was trying to beam file from my Mac with Leopard OS, it says service not available, how do I re-enable that? (I'm on b110 now)

Thanks,

K

So I plugged it out and now i have a phone that is always at bootloader but there is a strange thingthe hp logo in the middle is faint and has lots of lines around it. I repeated the same thing over again many times and and it could be flashed but the same thing always happens and now , worse, it is unrecognizable to the computer. I am using bl1.0.1 like u instructed tried flashing via minisd but to no result. Is there a way I can solve this like a bootloader upgrade without active sync. I hope it is possible as i can flash a "broken bootloader" without active sync.

Thanks in advance

I know your problem, the radio part corrupts but the bootloader is normal. The faint screen with lines is normal. The radio part should be reflashed!
I see you can use atom's ruu so use it to flash corrupt radio.
put following files in the folder:
Device Software Update Utility.exe(download from first thread).
DSUU.exe
diskimage_Ver.nb0(Add header java make this from any diskimg.nb0)
nova_pda_033105.mot(attach)
vl1d_pda_Ver.mot(attach)
eboot.nb0(From HP, rename to this. Try not to include this at first)

and run Device Software Update Utility.exe

Hi Helloworld,

Since you mentioned it, this "faint screen" which looks like an interlaced effect on CRT TV, this only happened after I updated my 0.34 radio (WM5), then flashed to b110 then b39, it happened right when I flashed from b110 back to b39, and at the same time when the "LCD buzzing" started to happened, I thought they may be related issues? Not sure flashing back to latest official WM5 will help eliminate the problems? I was really concern about the BL was going to die/corrupt.

When thru every single page of NHOBANME (first & was itching to flash) & your thread & the verdict, yours is what I'm going for (clean). b39 looks stable from kusanagi feedback & really itching for b110. Wish me luck & will keep a lookout for your next major update.

The faint screen means the screen's refresh rate is too low. It happens when you enter bootloader when the cpu is in deep sleep or no power at all. You are right, lcd refresh rate is related to buzz sound because the refresh current consonant with the thin part of screen. This may be caused by small flaw on the screen. If the screen parts are tight enough, the device won't whine!
Manually adjusting the frequency of lcd rate will get the screen part out of consonance.
If you are still in warrenty send to repair it quickly. Hardly can this symptom disappear itself!

Warranty? haha... I had my 6828 for two years... so I don't think I'm in luck here.

The thing is this faint screen only happened while I was flashing from b110 to b39, I have seen this BL screen about 4-5 times before, and it didn't have this problem before, could the BL itself causing any of this?

I guess you are having the faint screen as well, so do you get the "buzzing" noise when you get the LCD close to your ear?

I noticed you mentioned about the upcoming update will fix compatibility problem with SPB Pocket Plus, it is very inconvenient not to have it installed, so what incompatibility will it caused/happened if I install it on b110?

I am very sensitive to buzz sound(I hate it!). But my 6828 does not have. You can search atom's same problem, there are a lot. I bought 6828 instead of atom for that reason.
spb works in b110 but some modules like open file dialog will stop working occasionally. Also you can not install more than 2 input method if you have spb.

I can not edit post on phone. too bad.
bootloader will not cause problems because it only load system in boot time. You can turn off screen by spb or dutty's taskmgr and hear if the sound disappears.
There are such cases, they may have better knowledge whether changing screen panel working.

Note: the Main.java is the source code of addheader program. You do not need to put it in your destiny directory. Download sun's JRE here: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I know your problem, the radio part corrupts but the bootloader is normal.
Try not to include this at first)
and run Device Software Update Utility.exe
http://www.mediafire.com/?mn9kck1dxdz

I'm still not progressing in my Stage 4: Download Radio Stack. The RUU i downloaded wasn't atoms, it was from http:www.mediafire.com/?cw91jweyyxz Which was revision.zip so i redownloaded it again (not into C:/windows/temp) extracted it to a folder (new one) with your radio.zip but to the same problem. I'll try to extract them to C:/windows/temp. And what is that "I see you can use atom's ruu so use it to flash corrupt radio." and "DSUU.exe" thing? I thought the Device Software Update Utility.exe in the revision.zip is the only one? If so I think I need a link for the DSUU.exe and the Device Software Update Utility.exe(download from first thread) which i don't know where to download from the first thread.
Thanks and sorry if i was troubling you.

dsuu.exe and device software update utility.exe may be the same thing. If the atom's dsuu can not update your device, you will surely need only HP's ruu.
Copy two files attached in hp_files.zip to /windows on your device and run ResetToBootloader.exe.
Then do a normal hp update.

First use the bootable rom and and replace two exefiles(search this post),and flash using patched hpruu with all component including eboot!

Hi,
I found the two exe file to place in windows folder of my hp. I run resettobootloader, it goes in bl mode (version 1.0.1), I plugged the usb cable, run the hpRUU patched but...
"Cannot comunicate with device"
http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/8752/unus8.th.jpg (http://img294.imageshack.us/my.php?image=unus8.jpg)
the program wants the hp connected like in ActiveSync mode!

every other method (via Software Update Utility or SD) will make my hp to stop booting on the hp blue/white screen!!

so what can I do?
I see that also another user had my problem, but he doesn't says that has resolved it! Please help me!!!
Now I'm on your stable wm6 rom, but I want to turn back to the original one

I can test this for you, but can you please explain a bit more how should I go about it? Are you trying to test the Video/Audio capture, or the MMS sending/receiving?

I have tried to click on "New", then select "Capture" under Menu, then select either "Video" or "Audio" it didn't invoke the camera or audio recorder apps, is this what you are trying to find out?

edited: OK, I have just tried to send an MMS to myself, MMS sent OK, but never came back! When I clicked on Send/Received, nothing seems to happened, it didn't even attempt to connect. I've done this test in the past with WM5, it usually comes back in about 5 seconds.

edited2: OK, did another test, did exactly the same as the first test (except that I went into Option and checked the MMS settings, all correct and I clicked OK), I got a reply this time, don't know what happened with the first MMS sent, it just disappeared. However, by clicking on Send/Received will never trigger the connection of MMS, not sure if this is normal, when there's incoming MMS, it will automatically connect to MMS.

edited3: OK, I just received the first MMS about 30 mins later, hmm... So only thing that MMS is not working is the capture connection to Camera app and sound recorder.

ic some people in another forum mentined using the ipaq audio from version iPAQ rw6828 1.00.03 Firmware [sp34053.exe] This has the best sound,no bugs and louder than others updates...if u can dump it somehow, not like what i said earlier using latest firmware.

btw, do u find the way to install the hp camera externaly?
its possible to install 2 camera aps? eventhough hp camerabit slowly, the setting is easier.and user friendly.

BTW, you mentioned about from b134 onward, the reset method has been changed, would you please clarify what is the correct procedure for doing hard-reset and going into BL mode?

So on this b135, do you think it is much improvements over b110 which I am now on? and I haven't put a lot of apps back on since I'm waiting for this latest b135.

edit: a note to MMS capture, instead of calling the camera/recorder apps from within Messaging, you can start with the camera/recorder to do you capturing/snapping/recording, after the media has been captured you can select "Send" to send by MMS/email etc, just another way of doing it that's all.

Hard reset can be done but no promotion, the improvement of b135 is great. The onward releases will use this as base.
There is no big known bug in b135.
MMS capture bug does not affect me at all. I think the idea of MMS is really bad, push emails are much better and free.

I have never used MMS, very expensive here in Australia, it's about CNY3.6 per message sent, only have to do it this time to test your ROM.

Excellent!! "no big known bug..." is something I've been looking forward to hear... I will be upgrading to b135 tonight and fresh re-install everything. Hopefully I can easily upgrade to future versions by restoring from SPB backup...

Have you upgraded your spb backup to version 2? You will need it for successfully backuping in wm 6.1! Also nothing is perfect, but achieving perfection is my goal.
Please check the updated bug list in the first thread. I think maintaining a longer list of bugs than features will help others to know the rom better.

My friend have a macbook, on which I have tested. In windows through bootcamp, the usb charge works very well. But on mac os x 10.5 it doesn't. Also on linux virtual machine on mac, it works too. So I think the mac does not give out enough power if there is no driver for the device.
I have this idea because on old linux, you can not charge a ipod shuffle because it only gives out 100ma for flash based device. One need to patch the kernel to get full 500ma.

For MMS, I also have opened up the service only a few days ago to test the rom. :-)
Here is 0.6 RMB each(with a service, 2 RMB for five). Very expansive comparing to sms which is free for first 500 and 0.1 each for extra. MMS may be only for people who can not use emails on phone.

You are right, people tends to wanting to know more about bugs in home-cooked ROM, but the length of the list has nothing to do with people's understanding of the ROM, it should be as short as possible and best yet; no bugs!! I think what you have done so far for the introduction is excellent, with the aim in producing a very clean ROM, remember... stay clean.

I can understand what you said about the usb charging. What about using different cable on the same machine and OS can charge while the genuine HP cable couldn't? or on a different pc and OS the result is reverse? or how about a car charger that's capable of 2A couldn't charge after a ROM upgrade? while a wall charger with 1A can charge no problem... it's a bit of voodoo thing to me when comes to usb charging.

Nothing is cheap here in Australia, especially telecommunication. Luckily I'm on a corporate plan which the data is provided free, I just browse/download as I wished, unfortunately I don't have a HSDPA device.

Hi Helloworld,

Found a bug, but dunno what caused it.

Installed b135, works really well, however there's one program isn't fully compatible, or something has caused it, it's SPB Pocket Plus 4.

SPB PP4 installed fine, and worked fine initially, and is one of the first few apps I installed after ROM flash, after I installed a few more apps, the today plugin had disappeared from today screen despite it is enabled. I tried uninstalled all the apps after SPB PP, then reinstalled PP, same deal, does this happen to your install?

edit: forgot to mention, upon installed PP, first thing I noticed is in the "program tab" on today screen, many of the program icons are defaulted to the "blank" icons instead of the designed icon. But I just removed them, and before I have the chance to add them back, the PP today screen plugin had disappeared altogether (other apps with today plugin are fine).

May be I should hard-reset and try again, but I was running out of time for the day and I need my email up and running for work the next day.

Hi, everyone, iv found this on the net and tried it in the b135 update 14 rom, and works well, i dont know the difference, but maybe it can save the battery standby of the phone as well, about the speed, it feels more or less the same...

What you need to do:

1. Install NetCF3.5 on your ppc.
2. Open a registry editor, I use Reso Regsitry Editor
3. Goto HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NETCompactFramework (this is usually the first entry
4. When you open this you'll see all the .NET installed version change the DWORD value of 2.0.7045.00 from 1 to 0
5. Chang ethe DWORD value of 3.5.7283.00 from 0 to 1.
6. Reboot
7.Viola! you have a faster PPC

Yes, I haven't included dotnet 3.5 in this rom. Maybe next time.

K

When installing spb pocket plus 4.02, the installer will prompt lot's of dll file that you should allow. After that, there will be a prompt that ask you to reset. DO NOT RESET AT THIS TIME. After that there will be more dll file that require you to allow. Then it will work fine.
I think spb should update its package to conform toi the 6.1 releases.

Sorry, really no idea what is "roaming icon" because I have never gone abroad. Maybe the auto configurator didn't config the system proper. Try the newer connection wizard.

Sorry, I tried but failed to find a solution. There are three files related to ipaqaudio. They are audio.cpl,audio.cpl.0409,ipaqutil.dll module. I don't know if there are some registry keys. So I don't know how to fix.
Anyone can help me here?

Has u try extracting those file from another firmware ,1.00.03 Firmware [sp34053.exe], the firmware still available in HP website.
Btw, im using Pocket Music, somehow the ipaq audio effect remain unchanged, when using it.
Today im going to update to ur latest rom, if im using spb backup 2, can i restore without any conflict?

I think restoring through spb from b110 will cause problems. My rom uses ipaq audio from sp34074.exe. I will extract the ipaq audio from this older rom and find if it works.

EDIT:
The ipaq audio from sp34053 is also not working with headset. Maybe I still miss one file besides the three.

I think you need to be careful here, any file name with "6828" in it DO NOT USE on your Atom!! The files are only for HP RW6828. Use the Atom one.

Simply extract diskimg.nb0 to your SD card root directory, insert into your Atom, then go into bootloader mode and wait 13-17 minutes, DO NOT interrupt!! You may plug into your power adaptor.

You can not flash this rom to your atom. You should download atom-release-1
It only contains a diskimg.nb0 for sd card flashing.
You need to use addheader.jar to make a diskimage_Ver.nb0.
Then you can flash it using atom's update utility.

I wonder if all English apps can be used on Chinese ROM?

Just a note, the WM6.1 ROM sucking battery like mad, it can effectively drain from 100% to 15% in 1.5 hours of GPRS and Internet News reading! :o I know there is a battery saving patch, is it really worth it? I mean how much performance this patch reduces and how much battery life it can save? I need to have a good balance between the two.

Almost all the English app can be used on Chinese app. I don't think the new 6.1 rom drains battery like that. I also uses GPRS(EDGE) connection a lot. But I think the battery life is just like the previous 6.1 ROM. If you do not like the patch, you can manually turn on the power saving settings on Schap's Advance Settings.
Oh, if you restore the PIM info especially SMS, the system will be very slow for a while. At that time, it drains battery fast too.
There is a free ResInfo app that can measure the battery life.

You can report the battery life time to me.
Mine without patch, mostly GPRS and TTS book reading through BT headset. No phone call, a few SMS. 1200MAH non-OEM battery.
Suspend: 21 hr
On: 5 hr 31 min

Yeah, I have jumped from b39 to b110 then b135, and I noticed the battery drain from b110 onwards, so compare to b39, WM6.1 sucks a lot more battery juice, and I don't think it can last me a day the way it goes.

The advanced configurator has a few settings that can turn on the power settings on some devices.
In theory, underclock the cpu will give you better battery life. But in my test, it do the opposite. Also, the device will be slow comparing to other 200MHZ devices like HTC Touch.

The battery life on my device is OK. I think 5hr and above will meet my need. The new 6828 OEM battery with wm5 can give me 7hr battery life. But after a year, the OEM battery gives me only 2.5hr on WM5. Now the OEM battery can barely give me 2hr on the current ROM.
My new 1200MAH compatible battery gives me slightly more than 6hr battery life on my wm6 ROM. Now It gives me about 5.5hr on 6.1 ROM.
I know the comparison is not scientific because I have never do a battery consumption test on all the ROM at the same time. But I hope my battery report will be helpful.
The direct push mail reduce battery life dramatically especially on 6.1 ROM. It gives me only 4hr life on my b95 ROM.

WM5 used to last me 2 days with moderate use... now not even half a day. Though I have to admit my 6828+HP battery is already 2 years old.

On WM5, on standby with no use, it uses 8% over 8 hours, so around 1% an hour, on the latest b135 WM6.1, it's like 4% an hour.

I tried the resinfo, it gave me 1hour14min standby and 14mins active, battery drops 45%, the phone then crashed when I launched a website in IE that stopped the monitoring.

I doubt it's the battery as b39 power consumption isn't as bad compared to WM6.1, can't see how battery deteriorate so much from flashing b39 to WM6.1

I will use acbPowerMeter to test further, on my virgin HP WM5, with no GPRS push email, and screen brightness set to minimum, the average power consumption is 80mAH (range 68mAH to 110mAH over 5minutes), I have done a lot of this when phone was still on WM5, so this figure is more accurate in measuring power consumption regardless of the age of the battery.

Other than the battery consumption, I really have no issues with the ROM, happiest ever! Thanks.

Your battery life is so poor! The battery level drops only 10% for 8hr when phone is on or 2% when phone is off . acb says the current is 90mA to 120mA when I do not use the phone with second dimmest backlight and gprs on.

it just freeze up, nothing shows up and eating all of storage space slowly
with this many programs i will need more storage space
when i was trying to delete some of the files in the storage place, i found a misterious file 1-nature_15fps.mp4 (file types is brogent mp4 file) and it is in ROM file so i can't delete it
I want to mention about the battery life
I noticed that it is shorter than the previous b95 rom
and the backlight won't kick up at ac power (brighter when you tap the screen or push any button)
any idea?
Thanks

The 1-nature_15fps.mp4 is from the Arcsoft MMS.
The backlight will be brighter when you plug in the AC. What's problem?
The battery life should be nearly the same as b95 because I haven't changed the drivers and settings. There is a StartSAT.lnk in /windows/startup/ you can delete it, because the STK is not working in the current version(I have fixed in the next version). Also if you do not use push mail, you can set up a fake server in activesync and change the schedule to manual. This will prevent the activesync from auto starting. Use schap's advanced settings to modify the SD card power saving settings.

It will be brighter again after I plug out the ac power
:)
It is so strange
It didn't happen on the previous roms

I can not reproduce the problem. Do you use original charger? Do you use some app that manager the backlight? And Have you chosen the "turn on backlight when ..." option in AC tab of backlight settings?

I installed the Atom release 1, it is very good. Thanks!

However, the wireless manager is not working properly, it cannot show the interface and just have the white screen. But, when I click the white screen, it is still perform the bluetooth, wireless activation/deactivation. Perhaps, only the display has problem.

Also, the camera is not working very good too, it is always flicking during preview.

Have you flashed extrom I posted or I forget to post it?
I do not have an atom so I can not test. I will replace the quartz.dll module which is the key to fix camera problems. Please report me the problems you still have after installed my extrom.

Using b135 for few days & got a shock. 1/2 hour on 1st night surfing, IM, navigating around changing settings & next morning after 15min shutdown on me 1st time in 2 years (battery flat). Charging very slow initially & when reach around 2/3, jump to 100%. From what I read in this thread it's WM6.1 & WM6 using b39 would have better battery life. Am I right?

Since day 1 I refrain adding apps/utilities so as to have more available space & try to be happy with whatever comes preinstall.

1. Is Today Panel part of WM5 or inserted by HP?
2. Overall sound is OK but clicking on Start > Shortcut does not give out any sound. Normal? WM5 do.
3. Headset icon doesn't come on when my BT Motorola H3 is connected.
4. Phone & Contacts softkey is standard? Phone is not necessary because can be activated by Send or End key.
5. Where can I set to switch on when any button is press. Can't find.

I know about the options of PDA Status, Schapp, Today Panel files out there but like I said try to minimise adding if possible. Thx.

b39 would have better battery life. Am I right?
A: b39 have better battery life because: 1. It has power management patch pre-installed. 2. Homer has done a special tweak to the kernel modules(He keeps this info secret, so I cannot apply to wm 6.1).

Since day 1 I refrain adding apps/utilities so as to have more available space & try to be happy with whatever comes preinstall.

1. Is Today Panel part of WM5 or inserted by HP?
A. It is a HP's OEM software. I do not have enough space to install it. Also it is not so good.

2. Overall sound is OK but clicking on Start > Shortcut does not give out any sound. Normal? WM5 do.
A. It is normal. MS releases without these sounds on wm
6.1. I've never deleted them.

3. Headset icon doesn't come on when my BT Motorola H3 is connected.
A. Normal in wm 6 or above. Press phone button, you will see it. Because this is only useful for phone calls. A2DP icon will display normally.

4. Phone & Contacts softkey is standard? Phone is not necessary because can be activated by Send or End key.
A. Default settings in wm6. MS is stupid, right? Oh, maybe some devices does not have phone keys.

5. Where can I set to switch on when any button is press. Can't find.
A. There is no way currently. I don't know how to add these settings currently. I may figure out later because someone has alreadymade a rom with it.

Thx for your prompt reply.
0. I guess got to compromise performance on b39, sword has 2 ends. Original WM6 & 6.1 also have this battery issue?
1. What's your personal recommendation to replace Today Panel?
2. Actually I prefer without the sound.
3. Ya, I notice that. Just that it's useful to know whether your headset is on/off. By the way what is A2DP?
4. Stupid@#$%! It must be MS. Sigh... Schap can reconfigure but I'll bear with it. No 3rd party if possible.

It is not long but your device's duty is heavier. I mostly use GPRS to view rss and reply this thread, which do not use much battery. But a 20 min continuous phone call will drain 15% power. So it is normal for you.

That is normal. MS did not include the start sound in this aku 1.03 base system. I did not add it myself, so there is no sound. Seems many people care about the start menu sound.

I have uploaded it but I didn't release it. It only fixes 1. self test problem. 2. STK problem.
I want to improve the battery life in further build. So, this is only an intermediate build. Who wants it can download it from my mediafire shared files.

I definitely put my hand up for the battery improvement! the b39 (which has homer's tweaked kernel) battery life is only slightly shorter compared to the original wm5, which can easily last me 2 days without charging, with b135 half a day at best with some uses.

Hope you can figure out the secrets in doing that!

It will take me some time to figure out the battery problem. It is because I, of course, do not have the source code or something of the Windows Mobile. So I have to try different combination of exist modules and test the battery life. This is like Darwin's evolution theory. But It is me to select the better one. Solving battery problem or some other very strange problem is not very technical but tedious.

About the WisBar Advanced: I haven't used version 3. Version 2 is good. I have used it for some time in the trial period. But finally I switched to SPB. Version 2 have some memory leak problem, it will eat much memory. Also I personally prefer the today plugin than menu bar because I only access very-frequently-used programs through menu bar. They are always in the last used programs field in the original menu. And, I prefer the gesture of SPB that pop out the current processes.
The SPB is a little bloated and expensive comparing to WisBar. I only used the today plug-in, close button and battery indicator.

Preclue for WM 6.1 ROM:
I had not even expected that I can support my rom for so long time.I thought only a few people like my rom. I want to thank all of you who help me. You can donate me if you like my rom. Even $0.02 will satisfy me and encourage me to further support the rom.

Acknowledge:
Bepe for great tools. wuqiyu007 for porting XIP part. Garmin for great tutorials. abusalza for useful reference ROM. Homer285 for useful reference ROM. l3v5y's for great oem packages.
All people who help me testing this rom especially kusanagi, BesFen, slys3171989 and edywanwan.
Tabbe and ronalddo for testing the atom rom.

About WM6.1 rom:
The rom have dimonand's kernel and kaiser's system as the base. The pagepool is 6M for stability as well as stability.
If you want to know what is good about Windows Mobile 6.1 comparing to 6.0, you can read this small PDF file: http://www.mediafire.com/?xdlgomziwtq

What is clean (Feature of this rom) :
1. Almost the same as the MS's Emulator's stable ROM.
2. Add some of O2 and HP's OEM apps like camera and wireless manager.
3. The HP's driver mixed with other enhancement.

What is not so clean (Extra content besides the official one) :
1. Add some content of Extrom, so one does not need ot install Extrom.cab
2. WWE version include a Chinese font (Microsoft YaHei), which will not affect the user's experience if he do not use Chinese.

What is bad (Major bugs of this rom) :
1. The Bluetooth PAN is not working at all. I include Bluetooth DUN support as a workaround.
2. In a very few case wi-fi will be on after reset.
3. Certifications can not be easily imported from wm5(Only can be done by importing registry).
4. Battery life is slightly shorter but better performance. A patch is needed to get longer battery life. (Download patch from the second thread or use Schap's Advanced Configuration tool).
5. The sound volume is a little low. SRS WOW HD will increase the volume dramatically.
6. The Bluetooth A2DP auto connection is working but one need to turn the device's BT on first then headset's or it will not work.
7. When backup using SPB, it will show you a warning. It doesn't matter at all though. ( Fixed with version 2.0 spb backup)
8. MMS program can not capture pictures and video.
9. Ipaq audio's headset ability will be disabled when powered off then on. Click on the slide will activate it.
WM6.1 screenshots see page 29 and page 30 of this thread.

Update 1: 20080216,b30
1. Add 3D(JSR 184) support to Esmertec Jbed (java vm), resolve problem that non-European locale cannot use java. Change the icon to blue one which is default in WM5.
2. Minor booting fix.
3. Some rubbish files has been removed.

Update 2: 20080219,b35
1. Update to .net framework 3.5, so one will experience faster .net apps. (if anyone have problem, report it and I will fix).
2. Remove two theme, rain and grass. If one like it, you can download separately(I will upload if it is on demand).
3. Fix a problem that MMS may not appear in poutlook in b30-b32 ROM.

Using system restore software like SPB Backup when updating from previous rom:
see this thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1945267&postcount=39

Update 3: 20080305,b36
1. Change the boot screen to HP original one.
2. Modify the version number a little.
3. Correct a typo(my name:eek:) in the system info.

Update 4: 20080309,b39 (Recommended for general user)
1. Fix the Windows Live problem by replacing nls file to let the MS server think this rom is official.
2. Update Windows Live to 10.6.34.0800
3. The Chinese(Taiwan and singapore) has been recovered.
4. More clean up. Delete a mp4 file about nature in the previous rom. So one will get 200K extra space after hard reset.

Update 5: 20080314,b45 (It is unstable from user report)
1. Fix the camera flicker problem exist in b39 and b36. Also fix the "camera cannot initiate" problem.
2. Downgrade windows live to 10.6.32.2000 ( the difference between 10.6.34 and this one is very minor but the spaces it occupy) to save some precious rom space.

Update 6: 20080321,b46 (It is unstable from user report)
1. The b45 rom is not what I intended to post. This one is! Because b45 is modified from b35 and does not contain some newer update from b36 and b39.
2. Add a theme. See it yourself, you will like it. (This one is clean because it is from ...)

Update 7: 20080405,b85
1. Initial version of my WM 6.1 Rom.

Update 8: 20080407,b92
1. SYS: Add Windows Mobile VOIP support, that is Internet calling. (Very useful for someone, I don't have a chance to test)
2. SYS: Add Windows Update support (Not very useful by now though)
3. SYS: Add Windows catalog support. It is not useful by now. It is the extra service of Microsoft. So it will be useful in the future.
4. SYS: Change hard reset screen to the original atom one.
5. OEM: Add htc sim manager for convenience. I deem it clean because there is one in almost all HTC device.
4. BUGFIX: Windows Live is now working. But I don't test it throughly.
6. BUGFIX: The left softkey of "Pictures & Video" is now "Camera".
7. BUGFIX: STK is working now.
8. BUGFIX: The txt file linking is now pointed to pword.

Update 9: 20080411,b95
1. BUGFIX: Fix the problem that letters are out of bound in some apps.
2. BUGFIX: Fix compatibility issue with PhonePad and some other input method.

Update 10: 20080514,b99
1. BUGFIX: Bluetooth A2DP headset can auto connect now, tested on my iTech R35 BT stereo headset.
2. SYS: Wavedev.dll change to the HP original one (Though, no effect on the volume at all!)

Update 11: 20080524,b101
1. BUGFIX: The sound through A2DP won't skip so often. But the sound quality is a little lower.

Update 12: 20080614,b110
1. BUGFIX: Fix button assignment problem. Now there are three buttons that can be assigned.
2. BUGFIX: Fix the ugly font problem in SMS.
3. BUGFIX: The right arrow in the calendar should display correctly.
4. OEM: Add HP's Voice Commander and assigned to the "Long press volume down" button.
5. OEM: Add HP's IPAQ Audio. It should work in my test.
6. SYS: Put the task manager shortcut in the start menu by default.

Update 13: 20080623,b134
1. SYS: The HP certificated system, so some previously unusable HP oem app like photosmart will work.
2. SYS: The time after hard reset is now 2008 not 2005.
3. OEM: Now you can select the lowest backlight(which is very dim) in the settings -> backlight just like HP's WM5.
4. OEM: System information is now HP's that gives you much more comprehensive information(Not all are accurate though).
5. OEM: The GPRS mode switch program return. Thanks kusanagi for indicating that.
6. OEM: Include Microsoft Yahei font. Since the new system is smaller in binary format and many people request it. I include it.
7. OEM: Arcsoft MMS update to version 5 so the SMS and MMS tab combine into one. (The capture bug haven't been fixed)
8. BUGFIX: Fix font issue that the font face is a little small in SMS.
9. BUGFIX: Solve the problem that the "tasks" can not create new task through menu.
10. BUGFIX: Fix the incompatibility problem with SPB Pocket Plus( some features are not working well previously).
11. BUGFIX: Fix the incompatibility problem with various input method. You can install as many as you can and many Input method and keyboard problem are working fine now.
12. BUGFIX: The confusing hard reset screen now won't display. It do clean reset without that screen just like old HP's WM5.(Press and hold power button and reset.)
13. BUGFIX: Fix the problem that the system may halt when playing Solitaire. Thanks martinrmn for finding this hidden bug.
14. BUGFIX: OBEX service fix. So it may not conflict with other software not.

Update 14: 20080623,b135
1. BUGFIX: The icons can not display proper in MMS software!

Atom first public testing ROM
1. Based on b92.
2. No ext rom content now.
3. Any serious problems may occur.
4. I can not test this one, so this rom is not well supported. Thanks m4rc3l1n0 for the initial test.
5. Bluetooth headset is not working according to reports.

Atom second public testing ROM
Based on b95
1. Add atom OEM app.
2. Initial fix of Bluetooth headset problems.
3. More atom specific clean up, and an Extrom is provided.

Atom release 1 ROM
1. initial atom release based on b95 rom of HP's.

Notes for b134:
Major update this time! The new system is mostly ported from kaiser's latest rom. Also the kernel is updated and the system is now deemed as HP. I have tested in stability and performance as well as the compatibility of the rom for several days. It should work very well but more test is needed.

You are using Atom right? Atom Roms is based on b95 of the 6828's ROM, which has this incompatible bug.

Extract files to the root of a SD card, and get into bootloader mode. It will flash the device.

There are some confusions in the original post. I edit some especially differentiate the 6828's WWE Rom and other Roms. Hope some atom users will not confuse about which Rom is for them again. Also, there are still some problems in these important threads. If you have good suggestions about how to make words clear and concise as well as good typesetting, please let me know.
Also there are some common questions about the ROM. I will collect some of them and make a concise FAQ. Any suggestions?

This is only an intermediate update that address:
1. self diagnosis problem.
2. sim toolkit problem.
I will upload a better one 1 or two days later. You can wait a while. spb backup 2 have a rom update option. I do not know whether it works fine.

WisBar V3 suppose to solve memory leak problem, so they claim...

You mention & I see the gesture in SPB but what does it mean & what it can do. I can't figure it out.

About 10 minutes when the device is on in my normal usage or more than 10 hours when you take the battery out. It is useful when you want to use your last 10 minutes' power to make a phone call to borrow a battery with full power.

It looks much better now to avoid the confusion.

For yourself who post it & for someone who have read through every single page (like me) of the thread would be able to figure out but for someone who just jump onto it wanting a quick answer will get a bit loss.

Especially the 2nd thread on installation part. Use more formatting (size & color). Again that part is copy & paste from other who knows what they type but tough for somebody who is new wanting a quick answer.

Just finished updating my RW6818 via PC (RUU mode), Had a hard time flashing via memory card. So i took the liberty of uploading the 20080411b95Update9 with the added codes and modified RUU. These are the actual files that I've use, it worked for me but no guarantees.

ENTER BOOT LOADER MODE (press both softkey (-) (-) and push reset) - your pc should detect your phone in bootloader mode.

1. Unzip the package below to c:\windows\temp (replace all)
2. run Device Software Update Utility.exe from c:\windows\temp
3. Click on Update Item "All" use cursor keys to change it to "OS ONLY" then hit next
**** SELECT "OS ONLY", if you cant change it to "OS ONLY" DONT PROCEED!!!
4. It should detect your device as Model 0 etc.
5. Flash your device and wait for it to finish flashing after 15-30mins.

Note: You should have 1.01 BL to flash using PC or else it wont work.

Whether packageinfoapi.dll will improve/break compatibility is not tested.
If you have 0.33 radio, you do not need that because HP releases this radio to address only avery minor problem. You can read more about that at HP's website.
