OOoooOOooOOoo!
God knows. Does it work after reset? Are you using the patch when this works? You're using b156 or 6815 testing one?

Yes it works after reset, I have both patches installed RU was installed first then the WWE. i currently have the b156 rom installed.

What is the difference between b156 and the 6815 rom?

6815 r2 rom replaces 2 modules: camera.dll and quartz.dll
So the picture is up side down?

I installed WeFi (a WIFI hotspot finding program) and it also asks for .NET 2.0 to be installed (which I then did, and it works). But I also though .net 3.5 should work?

I had Wefi on b155 to try, I didn't get that problem, it installed and run fine, but I have now removed it.

Hi

Did by any chance, made a Battery Calibration software that is also compatible with the HTC Hermes and with the HTC Herald model?

thanx

Does Hermes use BQ27200 chip? You can strip the paper out of the battery and use a magnify to read the text on the chip. If one of the chips have "27200", the calibration program will work fine.
I am now modifying the program to display more information of the battery and make it safer.

Hi
Thank you for your very promt reply!
I tryed to open the battery for get to the IC but I didnt succed so i try to run the software on both of the PDA and below is the result:

Get ILMD i will get the following Error "XllpI2Reads() failed"
after i press ok he will show me 5392mAh

Get LMD i will get the following Error "XllpI2Reads() failed"
after i press ok he will show me 868mAh

AND after I press Re-Calibration I Got again the error "XllpI2Reads() failed" for 3 times and after a message tell me that the calibration is complete but if I repeat the process and I still got the sam value for the LMD that is 868mAh

so please let me know if there is anyway to fix it!

Battery Calibration Software new version:
0. name changed to BQ27200Expert because it is more functional.
1. Safer, it will display incompatibility error more strictly.
2. New feature to allow you look inside your battery. It will tell you many accurate property that BQ27200 chip knows like Temperature, Voltage, Current, Battery design, Available energy as well as discharge cycles and standby current. The info is automatically updated, so you can track it.
3. Description is better.
4. Icon changed to BQ27200 chip. Hope you like it.

TODO:
1. Log battery activity to a file.
2. Let user change everything that can be changed manually in this chip.

For uploading problem, I don't include source this time. If you want source, please ask me or I will upload souce for the later versions.

I should write a readme for this app. The calibration is done after you drain your battery and charge again. It may drop to 1234 mah or something. This is normal. Do not run this app too often! Only use it when you feel the battery life is too short. to bear.
Now this app can identify how old a battery is. Check the cyct register! So try this app to identity batteries before buying a new one. But if you calibrate the battery, the cycle returns to zero!

Yeah... I'm pretty sure the high popularity of this ROM is due to it's CLEAN, so please... keep it that way.

For those who wanted 3rd party commercial software, they can buy and install it themselves, or install whatever they want, not all people require such softwares.

Just keep a good, clean, bugs free, based OS, as anything can be added on later on.

Yes I will not include softwares that is not necessary or often-updated. But I will constantly fix bugs and update the internals. The only thing that is absolute is no absolute. Your ROM is very good, I am using the version tuned for 6815 and so far I am very happy with it. The battery hack is not so good however, please find the result of my test below:
- Capacity before calibration 1507/776 (51%)
- Capacity after calibration 1507/1507 (100%) - I know this is not a true one
- Capacity after a first cycle 1507/1279 (85%) - this should be a true one
- Capacity after a second cycle 1507/1142 (76%) - surpise :(

And for this second cycle my device switched off "powerless" when I a minute before it displayed +/- 50% of the battery level. Not nice. I will let you know what next cycles will bring. I did this test with my old battery delivered to me from HP together with my iPAQ, so no doubt this is OEM.

No, I have fast edge connection, at maximum about 20-30KB(160-240kbps).
You can set at settings ->phone ->gprs->advanced.

I have tried Class 8 (4R1T) and Class 10 (3R2T), both also slow.

I have the b156 rom and 0.34 Radio Firmware.

Could it be my device is faulty?

Hi helloworld1,

since I already have one of your first 6.1 releases installed on my HP, I would really like to know is the latest one (b158) will work on the 6815 or if it is for 6828 only.
I read there is a 6815 version based on b156, but well... I do like to always have the most up to date release. At least... I don't update often, but when I do so... I prefer new ones :D

Thanx a lot!!!

Where is b158? I have never released such version. The latest is b156.

No. I think maybe it is the compatibility problem of the network. You know, the signal is not very stable on my 6828 even on the first day I bought it.

Emm, it is a problem. I have said that this program has some severe side-effect. Your device may be forced to turn off at 80% energy. Try more cycles and report it to me. I do not really know how the battery's recalibration function works because I just set the cycle to 0 so that the battery is treated as a new battery and do the first-time-used recalibration.

It is not normal! I can connect both EDGE or GPRS easily. You may need to do a soft reset when you cannot connect. Also, the signal strenth may be weak. Try other location. Hope these can help.

Hi Helloworld,

Sorry this is a bit off 6828's topic.

Last week, I bit the bullet and bought an HTC Diamond!! I'm still keeping my 6828 as my spare, so please don't brand me as a traitor yet... :), I have to say this device is just gorgeous... but here's the problem, I can't read or write Chinese on this WWE ROM. (BTW, I have already searched the Diamond section in this forum for few hours to no avail on this issue)

Since you are a knowledgeable person, do you know if there is a CJK font pack in .cab I can install? If there is, would you be able to provide that for me? I have also noticed that it has anti-alias font rendering throughout, can the CJK font do the same?

Do you know if the Samsung Pen works on the Diamonds 480x640 screen? If not do you have any good suggesetions?

Thanks!!

Diamond is my dream device.
As for CJK Problem, I haven't made a cab package. But you can add it very easily. Taken "Microsoft YaHei" Font for example. You can download one(msyh.ttf, 14.3M) or copy the msyht.ttf(10.3M) from your 6828 of my ROM. Copy msyht.ttf into /windows/
Then edit the registry:
/HKLM/Software/Microsoft/FontLink/SystemLink/:
Then Edit
"Tahoma" = "\\windows\\msyht.ttf, Microsoft YaHei"
Then reset your device.
OK.
If you want to set regional to "PRC" or some asian areas.
You will need to copy wince.nls to replace the same file in your /windows/

I don't have an idea on 192dpi devices. Sorry. You may need to test it out yourself.
EDIT: I would like to know the Diamond's OS build number on your device.

Hey thanks for the tips, I'll give it a go and report back.

Haha, don't dream it, start saving up and get one! the Touch Pro is only around the corner hehe... I was actually considering the iPhone 3G, I love it's app store and I have a almost Mac everything at home, but the iphone is really too big that would make me look like a dork on the street... and Diamond can do so much more with my unlimited HSDPA!!

Oh, the OS version is:
CE OS 5.2.19591 (Build 19591.1.1.6)

I think my Diamond is the DIAM130 model, which support the 850mhz 7.2m HSDPA, and HSUPA.

Thanks,

I like HSDPA, but I think it won't appear here in 1 year and even longer before it gets affordable. Maybe I will study abroad and try it earlier! Haha, who knows. I may consider OpenMoko devices as my next phone. It is fully open-sourced so I can even modify the kernel or something.
It does not support 3G though. I will stick on my 6828 until it dies naturally.

Oh, never heard of OpenMoko, I will get one only if you get one, so that I will be sure that this phone has the best support... from you hehe.

Yeah, we have 7.2m HSDPA here, but only from Telstra which is very well known for extreme high cost, my carrier is Optus, it's only running at normal 3G (not 7.2m) at 2100mhz, so the coverage is very crap and a lot slower.

Yay! come to Australia!! IT is pretty good here.

Edit: the Yahei font worked!! thanks!! all CJK texts have anti-alias, very nice! but samsung pen didn't work, the panel is so tiny! but can still write though, and full screen causes some errors.

Edit2: Myscript Stylus worked beautifully, and it support all CJK inputs!! and do multiple character or full screen at the same time... but cost 44.95 euro!!! OUCH!

This is the worst battery I have ever seen. The battery will only be calibrated after about 2 cycles (Complete charge and discharge, the device may turn off itself after fully discharged). Then the capacity will below 1507 mah. In my case, it is 1153mah.

Maybe your battery's physical condition is bad so that calibration is of no use at all. The cycle means discharging and charging energy equivalent to the ILMD.

Good! Is SPB Pocket Plus working proper, Does it prompt after installation? How is the battery life?

I didn't installed SPB Pocket Plus, due to it's TouchFlo3D interface, because the TFL3D will disable EVERYTHING that lives on the today screen, with TFL3D running, you can't drop back to today screen like you could with SPB Mobile Shell, simply saying, with TFL3D on, you will never see your today screen.

This causes a problem for me where it stop me from using PhoneAlarm which I just renewed the license, it needs to be running on today screen to be effective.

The HTC interface covers about 80% of all the phone's hardware functionality, and it conceal pretty much all WM6.1's interface, and for the whole day I didn't have to pull out the stylus.

As for battery, I only have the phone for the 4th day, so I can't tell yet, but so far I had one recharge cycle (from full to complete drain), that lasted me 24 hours, but I was pretty much toying with it most of the day with HSDPA and pushmail on, I do feel that the WIFI drain the battery more than the HSDPA though, it's very good consider the battery is only 900mAh! My 6828 only lasted me 5 hours with similar play.

How much you pay for it in Aus? Cost RM2,799 in M'sia.

I paid AUD$800 for it, with today's exchange rate, it's ~RM$2322.90.

It is $999 retail, so ~RM$2960.

I went to 3 different shops, the first two won't budge on the $999 price, take it or go away kind of attitude, the 3rd shop offer me $149 discount straight away if I decide to get one RIGHT NOW, so I asked if they could match the price in the city store and they did, so I bought it.

Mind you though, the TD (Touch Diamond) I have, is from Telstra (Biggest telco in Australia), with Telstra branded logo on the back, it has some minor Telstra software customisation.

Telstra has the exclusive right with HTC at the moment to sell the Diam130, which is the latest hardware revision that can run on 7.2m 850mhz, and this Diam130 can't be bought anywhere in Australia except through them, so any unbranded TD is the old imported Asian Diam100. And I don't believe this Diam130 is released oversea yet.

I only found this out after I bought it.

EDIT: I have found a contact at a shop who he claims can get it for under $700 or less under the counter, but I need a tax invoice and for warranty purpose, I didn't take it.

The old model of Diamond without a contract in China is 4000 RMB (~600 AUD,580USD). But there is no WCDMA in China, so 3G is quite useless. VGA screen is great. I wonder why the power consumption is small in diamond. It should consume more power than 6828. Also I once had a Palm Tungsten T3 which has 900 mah battery but offer me only 6 hour power.

I wonder why the power consumption is small in diamond. It should consume more power than 6828. Also I once had a Palm Tungsten T3 which has 900 mah battery but offer me only 6 hour power.

it should but it doesn't
last week i was testing diamond and it could stay for about 2 days without charging (shipped rom and radio with few tweaks)

rw6828 can stay for about 2-3 days (also shiped rom and radio,no tweaks)

so when you compare it

950mA : 1530mA = 2 : 2.5

so you can clearly see that diamond's consumption is smaller

as i said this is for shipped radio and rom for both devices

Maybe your battery's physical condition is bad so that calibration is of no use at all. The cycle means discharging and charging energy equivalent to the ILMD.

It's not the battery, as I have the same problem. It's just letting your device to shut down due to a lack of power is a signal to a battery to reduce the capacity. It is a known problem of Li-Ion batteries which should not be reduced to less then 10% of capacity as it reduce their lifspan.

Yes, my battery is 1 1/2 year old. Until now I charge the battery before it goes to 50-70% in my car every day. Probably it is not good for the live of that type (Lithium-ion Polymer) battery to charge it, before it goes to 0%.

I have a new one, but i tested your software with my old battery. :-)
8. cycle 1507 / 502 mAh (switched off "powerless" by 10% in 7. cycle)
I started again, without recharging and it shows 0% and the iPAQ rw6815 still works 45 minutes ( I play Casparov Chess and FIFA 2002 that time) :-)). And now the battery is dead, I think. 1/2 h charging and nothing comes on the display.

P.S. Opps. I have problem with the SIM-Card, not the battery. The light is going green, and after that i take out my SIM-Card and everythig was O.K.
9. cycle 1507/ 502 mAh . I think, that this is the real capacity of my battery :-).

10.cycle 1507 / 502 mAh (switched off "powerless" by 3% in 9. cycle)
I do not make more cycles. It is time to re-calibration :-).

Yeah, AUD$600 is very cheap, but I do need local warranty, you never know what's gonna happen...

I believe the power consumption is small due to it has power efficient cpu, radio chips, circuit design etc?

I still remember the very 1st gen "mobile" phone which has the size of a car battery from Motorola... and that only last half a day of stand by.

There's also some Phillips mobile phones that their battery last more than a month!!

Subsequent update is not ready. I will keep an eye on the posts and find out some ideas of next update.

EDIT:
The Samsung I908 has a ROM with XIP&SYS 20721 and the system is AKU 1.4.0. I think I will try to port this.
The major update of AKU 1.4.0 is "Microsoft Touch" and IE8.11. However It will break compatibility of many softwares and has a lot of problems. I will try to port this one as a testing release if everything goes well. If not I will silently discard this one.

Yes, the camera works if I manually launch it from the programs menu - it only does this when pressing the hardware button to launch it.

when i was trying your 1st release, there's a few bugs such as flickering camera, corrupted icon, and sometimes wi-fi didn't work.

then i tested your latest beta 2, freeze on camera shortcut, after that, i return back to your 1st release.

Do you guys think it is possible to restore a full backup done with SPB Backup from a b95 rom after upgrading to b156?

Moreover.. I checked my device info and found that I installed the 6828 b95 to my 6815.. so I wonder the only difference between 6828 and 6815 is the FM Radio?

hi helloworld1, thanks for the excellent clean and stable rom versions:). you have reincarnated the ipaq 68x8 models:cool:. i am currently using the b155 and its excellent except for the power drain. i was wondering whether it would make sense to retrofit the bug fixes to b95 version:confused:. meaning that take b95 as base and fix the new task issue, remove voice commander, add net 3.5. i am not sure whether there is a SYS or AKU change between 95 and 155, but feel that since b95 was the version with least power consumption, it would be worth to retrofit the other bug fixes (from b155) to b95.

once again thank you for the excellent rom:cool:

I have made a 20721 based ROM. But It is VERY VERY UNSTABLE!
Also, I have found the "microsoft touch" will interfere many normal functions and the system is not fast.

20748? Forget it. The only benefit is Flash Lite 3.1, which can be manually installed now. The IE is as slow as ....emmmmmmmmm... mountain!

The most stable 20xxx ROM is 20273. But I won't port this one. It is not very beneficial.

b110 is based on the base of b95. But the task issue is tough for this base. You can input new task on the top inputbar.

I found the power consumption of b95 and b142+ is comparable.
b142+ is a little faster.
b39 is the most power conservative one.

thanks for the quick reply. i have never used b39, however had only read in this thread that it uses lesser power. between b95, b110, b142 and b155, i found b95 to be better in terms of power consumption. I havent done any rigourous tests, but just going by imperical values.

1. GPRS's problem may be related to the signal strenth. I haven't encounter such problem.
2. Back light adjustment is working.
3. What is HP USB charger? The HP's original charger is working. If your computer can not charge the device. You can Settings->System->Power->USB, change the charge options while the charger is plugged, it will work.

Try to reinstall everything. I suggest you storing all apps in cab format on the storage card so that you can easily install them all after hard reset.

Been a bit busy so havent posted follow up from previous 155 posting. 156 ROM works perfectly for me on a 6828. 155 had an issue with speaker phone operation for me but 156 doesnt have any problems at all.:D

I havent used Bluetooth or WIFI so havent tested them but GPRS works without problem, Camera works fine. I use Metrix as a plugin for today screen to give Backlight adjustment and a % readout on battery (its free!) and no problems.

Active sync also works fine across multiple computers though setting up Zonealarm is a bit painful if you use that on your PC. Though have had to do a soft reset once to sync.

Good work Helloworld. Anything in the pipeline soon?
