Ringo is knows not working in all my 6.1 ROMs.

1. GPRS's problem i was not foundin in urs Update 15: 20080701,b142 then i boot Update 18: 20080810,b156 im facing this problem GPRS not Running Frequently get disconnected atomaticaly .
2. Back light adjustment is not working in my HP Rw6828.
3. When im tapping on USB (Settings->System->Power->USB) it get soft boot its not working.
4. Activesync is Not working fine with me its serious problem.
5. Im unable flash any another ROM after flashing it keep resatrting my device.

I flash your ROM in both ways mini sd in pc also same problem.

I've used b142, b153, b155 and b156. Flashed b156 on the second day it was release and it's already been a month of heavy use. I'm quite a heavy user and I've hard reset a couple of times, not because of the ROM but because I like to try out many, many programs, plugins, customization and etc. Even watch video for a full 4 hrs straight on my return flight from SFO 2 weeks ago. Bluetooth and WIFI all working well.

In all honesty ... I've never once encountered any issue 1-5 you mentioned.

I've flashed a friend's unit as well ... and he hasn't encountered any issue either.

Me thinks maybe the flashing didn't go too well for you? Maybe if you could try to do another round of re-flash.

Same here, I'm still on 155b, little incentive to move to 156b. Other than the known few minor bugs (which will probably never affect the way you use the 6828), this is the BEST clean rom you can ever get for your 6828 in the universe IMHO.

It was because of this ROM, I abondon any thoughts about buying any new unit ... even the iPhone doesn't entice me anymore now that I can even slot in an 8Gb card for my whole music collection + some videos. ... yahooooooo! :D

Mostly yes.
6828 WWE ROM is primarily supported. It will be the most stable.
6828 Other language ROMs and Atom roms are not supported. But I will release updates if necessary.

This is normal. You can use your device normally until it turned it off itself at any percentage of battery. Then fully recharge your battery, check your battery capacity now to see if it falls below init capacity. If so, your battery is calibrated. You can use it normally. If problems occurs, you can drain your battery until your device turn off itself and recharge again. Do not run the calibration many times.

This needs to be fixed or will be deleted if cannot. I will give you another patch file to test. Note you will need file explorer like resco explorer to replace.

I am asking other people about the battery issue. It is really a issue. If there is progress in this field, I will release an update.
I don't know much about newer device. I think HTC Kaiser is a good device and is cheaper. HTC Touch diamond is expensive, but good too.
Samsung I900 is a newer device with newer OS and many new function but the screen resolution is 240x400.
I have checked the price here in China:
Touch Diamond: 540 USD
Kaiser: 400 USD
I900: 530USD

Most easy-to-fix bug has been swept. Now I am investigating some persist problems. There is not an update recently.

I have covered the pin 2 and 3 of battery for several months before the calibration program written. It is a little dangerous though.

I have finally tested Bluetooth and IR on 6828. Both Work great for me.

Only problem I know of with B156 is occasionally have to soft reset to get Speaker phone to stop. (3 of so times over last month) Is this just me? Possible hw problem? Admit I use this when driving and is intermittent/not often/not a big concern to me. (it was 100% occurance on B155) but now intermittent with B156:confused:

All other problems reported dont apply to me. Phone used everyday, syncing email over GPRS in Australia all the time - no complaints

Might have to buy BT headset. Any recommendations?

Got original Rhino code today screen plugin to work too!(as per WM5) version on this thread didnt work for me so used version from different thread. (Not using Metrix anymore)

Battery life is only small hassle! Though havent recalibrated yet using your prgram. Would like a free version of spider solitaire though ! ?;)

As far as I know, some people have speaker phone problem. The when making phone call, the speaker can not be turned off by long press green button. I haven't encountered this kind of problem though. Maybe it is kernel related issues.

I am using iTech Radio bluetooth headset. Maybe it is not the kind you like. It is more like a MP3 player.

Free spider? I haven't seen one. Any one have good suggestion?

This is not a critical update.
I have said that most easy-to-fix bugs have been fixed leaving either non-critical or very-hard bugs.

This "Import from camera" bug is reported by kusanagi. And I have been looking into it for a long time. Though not critical, but may hamper the normal usage of programs such as Onenote and Phatpad.

The major bug that I can not fix because there is no clue what cause the problem are:
1. Strange device-dependent problems.
2. BT PAN problems.
3. SMS Import problems.

I can try out but can not really fix:
1. Battery Life problems.
2. Ipaq Audio Problems.

You don't need to follow updates very closely. Most post-b142 Roms are not really very different in stability and usability.

The only critical updates until now are b85, b134.

The btd.dll in this package does not work. Most of other btd.dll does not work except the 6828's and atom's. I think this will cause BT PAN problems.

I am asking other people about the battery issue. It is really a issue. If there is progress in this field, I will release an update.
I don't know much about newer device. I think HTC Kaiser is a good device and is cheaper. HTC Touch diamond is expensive, but good too.
Samsung I900 is a newer device with newer OS and many new function but the screen resolution is 240x400.
I have checked the price here in China:
Touch Diamond: 540 USD
Kaiser: 400 USD
I900: 530USD

You know many such cheap device are imported and unlocked. They do not have sufficient warranty. My 6828 is also such device. Luckily it have not corrupted.

Maybe I am still studying at USTC in hefei when you visit China. It is a pity.

Thanks to ebay I changed my screen and now I can play again :D
I upgraded the ROM in the past with success. (20080305,b36 with 1Gb Kingston mini SD.)
But today, after 5mn of bootloader screen display, my phone boots on previous Rom version.
I've seen on page 33 of this post :
My Boatloader is BL 1.00.05. Do I need to downgrade my 6828 to 1.00.01 if I use the SD card method?
I'm today with a 2Gb no name mini SD card.
I suppose it's better if I can find back my old 1Gb mini SD card.

Need help .. i have ipaq 6828 everything work fine except ... when device not used in about ten minute as usually it will goes to standby ... the strange is when i wake up the ipaq by pressed power button or other button it won`t wake up lcd keep black while signal led flashing normally when i try to call my ipaq its connect but without any sound come out from my ipaq the only solution is have to soft reset the device which mean i have to soft reset my ipaq frequently in a day :( if i used my ipaq continuosly no problem found my question can my problem solved with flashing used this rom coz trying flashing using rom from hp didn`t work .. thank u

Try to use the device more cycles and it will turn off at lower percentage.
Don't use the recalibration program again and again. One time is enough.
There is no way to get back. I may release a future version with backup ability.

Mine works well in RNDIS mode, maybe it is your firewall problem.

Go to bootloader and compare the screen size with that. Bootloader screen is not related to roms.

I've been having an issue with the latest Atom ROM. It seems that the touchscreen stops responding randomly and I need to do a soft reset to fix it.

It's happened twice so far today. I take the phone out, press the power button to turn the screen on (which works correctly), but I can't click 'unlock' on the screen. No matter how many times I press it, nothing ever happens.

If I press one of the physical buttons on the phone it does show 'press cancel then unlock' on the screen, so the phone has not completely crashed, it's just that the touchscreen isn't responding.

Never encountered any issue at all as I do sync up actively almost everyday between 2 laptops. I use almost every alternate day to WIFI sync for SPB insight as well.

To be very honest....I am amazed at how good this ROM is working out.

Starting Battery : 100%
My usage :
1. Activsync over EDGE with 10 mins check to Exchange
2. IMAP Account with 30 mins check

I am especially happy with Activesync & Radio performance. Usually, (on ALL other ROMs) when phone will switch towers (mostly due to low signal), the GPRS/EDGE conn would fall off and will never connect unless I did a Soft-reset.

Oh, you do not need to patch nk.dll to achieve that.
You can change registry:

HKLM/Security/Policies/Policies:
0000101b=DWORD:00

Or, you can download my "cab batch install" to disable it.

I have tried Manilla 2D yesterday. It is working very well. But the HTC Taskmanager is not working. Also in newer version(0.10), I cannot change the city in the weather tab. 0.07 works fine .

We need the patch. The patch included the HTC task manager patch, but it does not work. I have found that the registry is not set correctly.

With the thread over 100 pages, I have a few questions I was hoping someone could help me with:
a) Do I need to install the Power Management patch?
b) Should I use Esmertec Jbed 20080222 3.1.cab (recommended on page 1) instead of 20080428.2.1 (which appears to be a newer version?)
c) Do I need (or want) to use radio.zip and upgrade the radio to 0.34? What does it actually do?

A: If you want to prolong the battery, you will need it.

A: 20080222 3.1 is much better than 20080428 and 200805xx. It is more stable. While 200805xx has only an addition profile(About GPS Location).

A: You do not need it.

A: Flash is working. It is like the real camera. It turns on only after you press the shuttle.

That's only possible in version 4.x
All 5.x like the we're using now 5.0.31.25 combines them.

Yes. Install and forget.

That's only possible in version 4.x

The 5.xx will merge the SMS and MMS. And MS recommends so.

Using version 4.x will have separate SMS and MMS. But changing back to version 4 will cause a lot of problem when you want to restore SMS and MMS from version 5. I won't do that in the newer version. However, I can make a special version for you. If you want, I will upload it.

Probably not. It is compiled as wm5 binary and need pxa27x cpu.

You can have a try. If no problem occurs, there will be no problem.

How stupid I was to flash this rom on my O2 xda Atom, everything went smoothly when I flashed this rom to my device, and when the boot up screen came up, Hp logo appeared, then windows mobile logo, then the screen asked to tap the screen to begin using my device. At that time, I absolutely thought that there was nothing wrong with this rom. :confused:

Ok here's how the nightmare came, the touch screen didnt seem to respond, this time I knew I flashed the wrong rom for my device, I tried entering to bootloader mode by pressing camera and reset button at the same time, it didnt work either. That's how I knew I ruined my device with wrong rom installed

I tried to search around and look for a way to recover bootloader mode to reinstall suitable rom, since Helloworld1 instruction didnt seem to help (cause there's no such (-) button on O2 xda Atom). Some posts sugested going to Atom wiki of xda-developers.com, the page didnt seem to be loaded to my browser, I dont know why, so I tried google and searched around. After over 1 hour searching, I found this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=336278 but it seemed to be related too much on electronic, and it's pretty hard to proceed, further more it was for xda Atom Exec, so it's almost impossible for me to do it, then I tried clicking on every pair buttons and reset button at once just hope to enter bootloader mode. When it seemed to be hopeless, I tried the last pair, the DIAL button (little phone icon in green) and HANG UP button (little phone icon in red) and reset button at once, my device enter boot loader mode of Hp device (it's BL1.01), then I plug my device to my PC and tried installing a suitable O2 xda Atom rom, wow, what a miracle, the rom was installed smoothly. And that's how my device recovered.

I know I was such an idiot, but I would like to send this message to everyone to be more careful, and also to you, Helloworld1, can you edit a bit of your post to warn people not to flash this rom to any device other than Hp IPAQ?

both of you don_go and ronalddo, my advice is use your common sense before flashing your device. if its for different device sure it wont work on yours. and ronalddo. dont say that it is helloworld1 fault because he didn't post to warn does no common sense not to flash their device with these roms

I have already enlarged the text to separate different Roms. Also it is not that bad to flash the wrong ROM. You can always flash back to original ROM using sd card.

I have written that traditional Chinese ROM is not supported and will not get updated frequently.
You mean sound and NETCF 3.5? I can help you adding it and upload it later. But I won't update the system because I don't have enough time to maintain more than 1 ROM.

Porting 19971 kernel is much harder than I think. But I succeeded today!

No I won't include 20755 kernel.
I have tried 20755. But the start icon always loses after soft reset.( it is because the loading procedure is changed in this kernel) So I have drop it. I have ported a newer 199xx series kernel(Take me 5 days!) and it is more stable but a little slower than the 20748/20755. The memory management of 20748 is bad. 20755 is OK. 19971 is wonderful. 19971 is not without problems. The screen will be shifted right after flashed so you cannot calibrate. DO A SOFT RESET AT THE CALIBRATE STAGE and EVERYTHING WILL BE OK.
It is hard to evaluate a kernel.
Also, 20273/20748/20755 are all M$'s testing kernel, leaked by OEM factory. The real newest kernel is 20721. But it is not very compatible with exist system.

I may pack all my ported kernel and tools for those who want to try out different kernels.
Note: some of kernel are not ported by myself.

Many things will be released on 2000 posts celebration.
It is because that flashing the device may take about 20 minutes, the testing is slow. There are many many random fact that affect the final result of a kernel. I still don't know all of them. But trying out many many times will be a good method.

Shifting screen is an interesting problem. There is a little story about it.
One day, maybe November 2007, I have encountered screen shifting problem on my device with original ROM. No matter how many times I did hard reset. The screen will be shifted right after the second soft reset. I flashed my device for the first time. And the problem was solved. But now, it appears again. What a strange problem. But this problem is not persistent, it will disappear right after soft reset. And may never appear again.
