Tomtom by far in my opinion, however I do have a new favorite GPS program, not for navigation though.
It's called navizon, if you haven't heard of it check it out at navizon.com
it's similar to google maps, but the real use of this program in my opinion is that they pay for location information collected about wifi ap's and cell toweres.
What I do it start it up, then start up tomtom, so navizon runs in the background, in a week I made $40.
They also have a pretty good referral program, so if you do like it, I would appreciate it if you would use my number when signing up.
The program if free to use for this purpose by the way, so there is no catch
Sorry for sounding spammy, but I really do think this program is cool and I really did make $40 in a week.
Here's my referral number if you are so inclined: 5D56565E5A56
or a direct link to the sign up page:

I prefer iGuidance 4.0 over TomTom. I find that the user interface is easier to use.

i like TrackMe for tracking, TomTom is best in usability but Garmin is also nice, but expensive

So many apps out there...
TrackMe for well tracking. What an excellent program!
Noni GPS Plot for when I just want to be a geek and look at satelite reception / have a GPS Speedo in the car.
MemoryMap, for its ability to read OS Maps (thats similar to Topo maps for the US members). Great for off-roading.
Google / Pocket Streets when I'm in an unknown area. Especially Google, gotta love that integration!
I did use TomTom years ago when it was v.2. It was good for Sat-Nav, then I got a real Garmin Sat-Nav and found TomTom was relegated to the cupboard. I have no need to change it since it meets my needs (don't think the Kaiser would like being used on a Motorcycle, least not in the open where I could see the screen...)

Oh by the way, Inav Iguidance is pretty good, ........................

I'm using CoPilot Live 7 from ALK Technologies.
http://www.alk.com/
I've used their laptop products for over 10 years now and the mobile product works very well for me. The integration with my business accounts in Outlook mobile is great and the design of the software is very car friendly. Support from ALK is also very good.

I have Live Search and T-GPS (compass and maps) Both are free.
My next GPS program to get is Vito, unless anybody knows another WM6 program that gets altitude readings.
BTW, Is Navizon free? The public group feature sounds pretty cool.
Thanks

Anyone try out Odyssey Mobile? I have been using and like it. Anyone know where there is a thorough review of all the apps our there fot PPC's? There is a good web site:
www.gpspassion.com,
but the problem with it it is not dedicated specicially to handhelds and there is too much information to find any reviews there comparing the popular programs without going insane...

Navizon has a free version, but the full version (with trail logging) is 24.95. The only dif between the two is the full has trail logging and "wifi gps" whatever that is. Both have the buddy finder tho:D

I use Garmin XT (hacked) and Google maps for navigation/traffic. I use ESRI ArcPad 7.01 for "high end" apps such as creating my own center line files and polygon and point maps for use with their suite of GIS products.

hello this is my first post
i have tried tomtom igo2008 and miomap 3.3
for speed tomtom is the best miomap it's ok sometimes lag igo2008 was waaay too slow
for maps (canada) miomap have alot of poi and speedcam it's way better then tomtom's map and igo2008 maps is samething as miomap but just have 3D buildings
but the bad thing about miomap 3.3 is when i open the keyboard it won't turn to landscape you have to do it in settings and restart the program
sorry for the bad english :o

I have both Garmin XT and Tom Tom. Garmin is so far superior that since I bought it, I haven't even bothered to open up Tom Tom. The overall interface is better, POI's are better, directions are better, looks are better, and I love the way it zooms out on long stretches of road rather than staying zoomed in to a closeup of a long highway.

are there any GPS programs out there withour needing a data plan to use?
Steve-C
23rd January 2008, 08:45 AM
All of them that you install the software and maps to your device work without a data plan. So for example, you could use TomTom quite happily without a data plan, google maps on the other hand only installs software, it downloads its data on an as needed basis from the internet thus requiring a data plan, or at the very least a data connection.

For Car navigation :
MioMap v3.3
same as Igo, but more stable. Easy to use, smoother than Tomtom.
For Airplane (IFR):
BeeLineGPS.
It shows me the nearest airports, distance and firection to go, and allow me to save my track to see it later on on google earth.

Err.... www.tomtom.com (http://www.tomtom.com)
You have to PAY for the software. But once you have paid for the software, use is free. Sorry, you asked for GPS programs you don't need a data plan to use, not ones that are totally free. I don't think there are any free sat-nav programs out there, they all have a one-off purchase charge.

nav4all is free and it downloads maps on the fly, so it needs a data connection. I just installed it and it's great. Used Google maps before but it was never really designed for GPS so it doesn't have automatic directions or re-routing. Also a pain to enable the GPS every time you start it and select it as departure point when getting directions. Furthermore it has an annoying "Please don't sue us" screen at the start telling you not to look at it when driving. nav4all has many of the feature of TomTom including voice directions and POI database.

Great GPS routing Prog with ON Road and Off Road possibilities
You can import maps from Google or scanned ones and it really rocks !

Navizon just increased the amount of points you earn for mapping wifi ap's and cell towers, now you can make money even faster. I've made 60 dollars in a week abd a half so far.
Check my signature for more info.
BTW, you can run it in the background while using YOUR favorite app and make money for doing nothing.

Since i have tried numerous GPS programs on my Kaiser for Europe, I must say that By FAR the BEST GPS out there is Pocket Navigator by Mapfactor http://www.mapfactor.cz/.
Does not drain your battey like Tomtom,
Requires NO data plan whatsoever,
Extremely Precise,
Has maps to more countries than any other GPS software out there.
Extremely user friendly,
AMAZING features.
Hands down the Best so far...i like this so much i dont care if any other new GPS softwares are out...sticking to this.

Yes both Verbal and Visual (in 2d or 3d) and has excellent rerouting sensing once you go off course.
