Btw, this is where I got the ability to cook my splash screen on my ROMs. You know the first bootscreen.

Here. (http://www.pdaviet.net/showthread.php?t=18256)

I don't speak Vietnamese, but it's pretty easy to figure out. If you don't understand me, tell me and I'll write a walkthrough. The pictures tell it all, though.

EDIT:
Things you need:
-Thay Doi_SplashScreen.
-NBH_Tool_v1.1.
-HTC_ROM_Tool.

Create a BMP or JPG that's 240x320.
Run Chạy Tool Replace SplashScreen.exe
Click Load Bitmap and choose your file.
Click Update Splash.
It will create the needed files where the BMP/JPG is currently stored.
Take the ruu_signed.nbh and use NBH_Tool_v1.1 to extract the PrimarySplash.nb that you can use with your ROM.

Okay, this is probably a dumb question.

I followed your instructions to the letter -- got the PrimarySplash.nb file.

My questions is Now what do I do to flash it to the phone. Go back to step 1?

Please Advise

Thanks

lol,

Now that's going to be another post... How to install your newly created splash screen.

=============================

Download (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FAQKY5EM)

This file will contain step on how to create a nbh file. Just follow the steps and only include your PrimarySplash.nb file and not the rom.
Then flash it as you would with a rom.

Good luck,

Haven't tested that, but it's probably for one of the other two startups. The first startup cannot be changed without flashing.

Lets start will all the directions 1 by 1 and hopefully 1 of you geniuses can clean it up then hopefully make a sticky .....

A.) Download all files needed. (assistance is more than welcomed here)

B.) get the picture you want to use for your splash screen.

(**Instructions written by ttran001**)

1. Copy the image you would like to use into the image folder.

2. Open up the Step 1 folder and run the Replace SplashScreen.exe file.

3. Click on Load Bitmap from the newly opened menu (Replace Artemis SPlashScreen.

4. Click on the Update Splash button.

The PDA Phone ROM Update Utility 3.0.3.1 menu will pop up.
Leave it alone.

5. Go back to the image folder for step 1 and locate the RUU_signed.nbh file.

6. Copy the RUU_singed.nbh and place it into the RUU_signed folder.

7. Go back and close out both PDA Phone ROM Update Utility 3.0.3.1 and Replace Artemis SplashScreen.

8. Now go to the step 2 folder and double click on the nbhtool.exe.

9.This will open up Dutty's good NBH tool v1.1.

10. Click on the Decompile NBH file button.

11. Browse back to the RUU_singed folder and locate the new RUU_signed.nbh file.

12. Choose the same location or the one of your choosing to save the extract files.

13. Once completed it will extract a new file called PrimarySplash.nb, this is your new Splash replacement file.

OK we now have that part as easy as can be. Now the next parts for creating a nbh file.

Download and extract the HTC_ROM_Tool to your computer.

Double click on the htcrt.exe file to get started.

This new screen will popup.

Click on the Build! button.

On this screen click on the box under the Device: to select your device type.

Choose Herald

Type in your version of the rom, example: 4.10.531.3

Click on the box highlighted in red to choose your OS.nb file.
( Now where do we get this file from i would like that clarified and have it added to a download list for the sticky please.)

Click on the Build ROM botton.

This new screen will popup.

OK ... Now we have a nbh file... Now what would be the correct way of flashing this to a device. also the basic questions.

1.) Will this delete and or change my settings. ?
2.) What are the risks of flashing this way ?
3.) Does this work with HardSPL ?
4.) Does this work without HardSPL ?
5.) Must the picture be a bitmap ?
6.) Can I just use the ReplaceSplashScreen to just change the splash screen ?
7.) Does the program ReplaceSplashScreen work on wing before HardSPL or after or both ?
8.) Maybe im really tired how do I put pictures in this thread ... LOL ...

This is not related to the thread. This has nothing to do with cooking your splash screen. Please either PM him directly, or post a thread about it. (Or better yet, search, the answer is there.) :-)
That way you'll either find the answer or someone will actually be able to see your question.

If you followed all of the steps from the readme file then all you need to do is flash your device with your new nbh file as if you were flashing a rom.

You can actually take anyone's rom (.nbh file) and decompile it with duty's tool. You will get 3 .nb files. Primary Splash, windows and radio.

Then when you remake the .nbh file, you can put in your own custom Primary Splash.nb, the extracted windows.nb and the radio.nb and make your own custom rom -- sort of.

When you have the .nb file for windows, you can also change the pagepool size at this point if you wanted to.

I have to be honest . This hasn't worked for me yet. As simple as it may seem I have not cooked a splash screen into any phone . I can created the picture I want .

1.) I can extract the RUU_singed.nbh file

2.) I can use nbhtool.exe and get the file PrimarySplash.nb

3.) After that the rest of the instructions are futile to me and I guess nobody else wants to say anything about it.

The problem is once you have the PrimarySplash.nb How to exactly step by step put it on a phone . Now I am no noob but this walk thru is more like a run through and no good luck or even a kiss .. LOL

Is this the end of my wing? Any solutions to fixing this?

I made sure I picked Herald and I input the rom version that was in my phone which was the touch 4.0 micro. If I can just get the phone on I could probably flash it again using touch micro 4.0 with the sd card. Again... tips on how to fix this if it is fixable is appreciated.

I made sure I picked Herald and I input the rom version that was in my phone which was the touch 4.0 micro. If I can just get the phone on I could probably flash it again using touch micro 4.0 with the sd card. Again... tips on how to fix this if it is fixable is appreciated.

Remove battery .... Let phone sit a while ... put battery back in ... See if it works now .... Also 2 post above this one I have alink to a well explained detailed version of this thread ....

Tried that - didn't work. Even tried putting in another battery to see if that would make a difference. Nothing as well - LOL - hopefully I can find some way to power this thing up. (Starting my ebay auction as we speak - probably going to be good for someone else who wants to use this phone for scraps.)

Who knows - maybe 50 bucks or something? That'll be a really sweet deal if the person who buys it knows how to fix it. :-/

Which splash screen is animated in t-mobile ?

That would be the second screen shown. The first one is part of the Splash NB file and the second and third are cooked into the OS itself but can be changed without having to cook the ROM.

It's in the Windows folder on your phone. It's called "welcomehead.96.png"
It's a picture file that measures 240x320 and is saved in the .png format.
Change it as you see fit and then drop it back in the windows folder using a app like total commander (File explorer doesn't work as it doesn't have write permission in the windows folder. If you run windows XP I think you can just drop it in the folder from your pc, I'm not sure though, I just heard the rumour.)
Soft reset your phone and there you go.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the link! But what do I use to get the PrimarySplash.nb onto the phone? Do I use the "Replace the Artemis Splashscreen". I read threw this thread but couldnt figure it out. I DLed ttran001's two files and used them. But he says "This file will contain step on how to create a nbh file. Just follow the steps and only include your PrimarySplash.nb file and not the rom.
Then flash it as you would with a rom."

What do I use to flash my phone?

EDIT: Okay I see your version with a step 3 lol! Thanks skillzzz! I will give it another try.
EDIT 2: I did it but got an error message "The image file is corrupt. Please check you flash utility."
Whats that about? I read somthing in this thread about Netframe 2.0....I'm on XP SP3 (SP3 came out a few days ago I think and when I go to DL Netframe it tells me its not compatible with my previous version or something)
Thanks again for your help!
EDIT3: I downloaded NET frameworks 3.5 . I tried to flash my new splash screen but I got the same erroe message.

Gah! Okay I uninstalled all NET frameworks and reinstalled the 2.0 version and after I flash my new splashscreen I get the same erroe message "Image file is corrupt. Please check flash utility"

Some help meh plz

You have to convert it into an nbh first. Leaving it as an nbh is fine if you're not planning on cooking it along with a cooked ROM.

No your phone doesn't need to be hardSpl. Go back to flash center, and instead of running the RomUpdateUtility.exe in the RUU folder, run the Herald-uspl.exe in the flash center file. You can only use the RUU folder alone if your phone is hardSPL, else you need to use the Herald-uspl.exe every time you want to flash something to your phone. (I think I already mentioned this in this thread though. :p)
