Not only does it have a FM receiver but also a transmitter. WOW! :)
So, let's see:
1. VGA Screen
2. 500Mhz
3. 256MB ROM
4. GPS
5. FM Tuner/Transmitter
6. Thinner form
I'm liking it! :)

If I were you I'd stay well away from e-ten products. I had an x500 that was plagued with a bad GPS antenae, bad Nand flash ROM (over 50% of ROM developed bad blocks within 1 year of use), as well as just basic instability (constant losing of bluetooth & wifi settings and spontaneous lock-ups and resets). My unit was not unique and others developed the same problems. Overall very poor quality product even though it looked really slick. There customer support is also a complete joke...well...more like non-existant in North America.
I was very pleased once I abandoned that piece of junk x500 and bought myself a HTC TyTn-II which I've found to be a really stable and solid device.

There are numbers of bad reviews regarding E-Ten's devices. Knowing how detailed those reviews are, I can only imagine what sort of issues there might be on those devices. Might be better to stick with your Kaiser for a while.

These iMate devices with Qualcomm chipset have been canceled and reannouced I think. Really weird.
Also iMate supposedly signed a contract with HTC. I dunno exactly what it means but I think iMate will support/sell HTC devices in time.
So I think buying an iMate device right now might not be a good idea either.

The GloFish M800 has a keyboard, 3G, VGA and GPS. X800 is the same without keyboard. I was thinking of getting this, but the downfall is it only has 64MB RAM and no support from XDA-Dev.

Ditto....I have an eten x500 and had horrible issues with the headset jack (spent a lot of time, energy, and money getting it fixed). I would spend some time doing some reading at the eten users forum before making a purchase. If ROM cooking/tweaking is important, the eten community is not nearly as developed as the xda communtiy at this point. Good Luck!

I think the M800 on paper looks better, VGA and Sliding Keyboard, except the memory is 64mb. But I'm most concerned about the general chatter about ETEN's quanity and general support, not that HTC supports anything, but their products "feel" well made.

Do not buy ETen Junk.
I have the M600+ and it doesn't feel well made. There is virtually no support for the phones, you can't even send the thing in for RMA or anything.
When you compare HTC to E-Ten, HTC releases OS updates for devices when E-Ten wouldn't.
E-Ten puts crapware on their devices, i.e. their version of the comm manager makes it almost impossible to pair an A2DP headset.
The only good thing about E-Ten phones is that they have an app that re-routes Skype's audio to the earpiece instead of letting it go through the speaker.
E-Ten has nice innovative ideas but their support is horrible and the implementation of their ideas is often lacking.
The developer community for E-Ten is small, e-ten forums, the equivalent of Xda-forums, is full of whiney posts about stuff that doesn't work.
With HTC, if someone releases something for one device it will pretty much work on any other device. With E-Ten, no even releases anything so it's a moot point.
If you have any questions, pm me.

Guys, what you're pretty much all saying has nothing to do with the companies. Eten releases ROM updates. So does HTC. The difference is that we have a support community to work out all the kinks for HTC devices. If our community moved to Eten, their products would be much more attractive.

Hi everyone,
i cant stand how HTC is dealing with the driver issue. as a principle i want to get something else. can anyone please tell me what phone is similar or even better?
i went to www.pdadb.net and checked out some phones, but there are to many to choose from. does anyone know of people that have a phone like the kaiser and are happy with it?
thanks

any phone "similar or better" is pretty vague. any particular features you are looking for? if you don't mind giving up a few things, like the hsdpa support and GPS, than the Hermes might be the way to go. or maybe the iphone has what you want, and if so, then the iphone is the way to go. but if you want something "similar" then you can't get any more similar to a kaiser than another kaiser =P
i'm perfectly happy with my kaiser. i went in with eyes wide open, had my opportunity to turn back, but i didn't.
basically, either a device meets your needs, or it doesn't. find out what you want, and get the device that comes closest to giving you what you want. there will always be compromises along the way, despite what anyone else says.
if you don't know what you want, how can others tell you what you want? that sounds like a recipe for disaster =P

Of course. The qualcomm 7200 is an AWESOME chipset. So unless iMate skimps on the drivers too, the 9502 will annihilate the Kaiser in terms of performance.

Toshiba Portege G900 is probably better than the Tilt/Kaiser in respect to video performance ( though I own neither so cannot guarantee that). I know the portege had a few issues to begin with but it is just as good spec as the Tilt but with an 800 by 480 screen. It is also a lot cheaper.
The only thing it lacks is GPS, but a SIRF bluetooth adaptor would fulfil this need where necessary. I imagine the fact that the camera is only 2 megapixel will not bother people if the Kaiser's camera is as slow as these forums would have us believe!
There are other options out there with GPS, better cameras and infinitely better video performance, the only thing is that they're not Windows Mobile devices. Check out the LG Viewty or the Nokia N95. If you don't rely on specific Windows Mobile applications there's no reason why you shouldn't try something else

Sorry but I must say that the G900 has a poorly video performance (you can search for some reviews). I had the LG Viewty for a day. It has a nice performance but I can't tell that is great. It GUI is all flash so it will be smoother but if you ask a little bit more from the phone you can see that it is underpowered. My wife has now a SE K850i. It has also a nice video respons but I think the kaiser is better.

The one I have at the moment is an N95 8gb. It is not as useful as my Hermes in all applications but is streets ahead in everything multimedia. The browser has FULL flash support, meaning it can play Youtube out of the box it has everything the Kaiser has and more which is why I opted for that as my upgrade instead of the Kaiser, which my friend had upgraded to only a few weeks before me.
Much as people are apt to flaming Symbian the N95 8gb feels like much more of a powerhouse than the Kaiser, which in comparison seems a little substandard (given its comparable cost). I will admit though that my experience of the Kaiser is only summary so I apologise if I have it weighed up wrong.

well. who exactly are you unhappy with? first it's HTC, and now it seems to be WM6 and the cooked ROMs.
WM6 is from Microsoft. most of us should know by now, what to expect of them, after what? almost 15-20 years or so of them dominating the PC market?
as for the ROMs, there have been cooked ROMs for almost every HTC device. the results of the hard work of many enterprising developers, devoting their time and energy into providing us with new tweaks and upgrades to our PPC platforms. it's on the front page itself.
that's what this site is all about. and to me, this is what i like about the PPC platform. being able to tweak, upgrade and customize our PPCs to what we want them to be. if you want something that's dictated to you and locked down and unmodifiable (or very difficult to modify), then look somewhere else.
if the number of ROMs for a device is a indicator of it's crappiness, then i'm amazed that anyone ever buys any PPC that has it's subforum on this site =)

I'd like a cell with these features:
Touchscreen
400+ cpu
128+ ram
256+ rom
Good camera
GPS is a much (i use it all the time)
Slide out keyboard
VGA.. maybe. as long as the battery doesnt drain too fast
cant think of anything else at the moment
edit: oh yeah, hsd/upa, and wifi
I found this phone. It fits all that cept the ram is only 64mb :\

Go get yourself a Treo and see if you still hate your HTC. My Tilt is light years better than any Treo built. Better yet, go get yourself a minibook and a pc card. The driver issue has nothing to do with the functionality of the phone, which, by the way, is what this thing is. Sounds like anyone pissed about not being able to view videos needs to assess their need for a PPC.

Hi Guys,
I have has a few windows based phones, the last ones being the htc C600 and htc P3600.
I liked the ability to add software, customise and add my own self made ringtones with the windows based phones, but I hated the response times and constant delays and reboot's needed to keep my phone running.
I have moved to the Apple iPhone.
Since I started using the iphone I have really felt that this is how a phone should be...it just works!
It was a relief to show my friends what I had done with my phone and show them pictures, videos and added software, without it crashing, no delays etc... finally I had a phone that would impress them 100% of the time.
I still keep my eye on the smartphone/pocket pc market but it will take a lot for me to go back to using a windows based phone again.
Just my views on the phone market at the moment.

I guess it's your preference. I don't understand why people have such big issues with improper video driver. I have been able to play all encoded movies/videos just fine on my Tilt. I have had no problems with graphic-intensive games. The only problem that resides is the camera (only indoor/night pictures), but, then, I have my digital camera for taking pictures.
Overall, I am very happy with my Tilt and I wouldn't return it for anything out there.

same here. i am surprised to see that a damn ppc is not able to work properly. if i click on an icon, i want it to be there. like it should. not wait half a second. what for do i have a touch screen if it slows the whole thing down?
don't get me wrong. i like the whole idea of installing a million application. nothing wrong with that. however. most of them have a fucking bug. nothing really works with tweaking and all of the other bullshit. common, just face it. a ppc should be just like the iphone. only windows base so you can install whatever you like...

There are much better pocket pc's out there with higher end graphic support. That's huge to me, partially the reason I bought it - all in one device.

Uhm, no it's a PPC, not a phone. A phone is supposed to cost around $0-150 dollars and make phone calls. A PPC costs significantly more and is expected to DO significantly more. Raise your expectations.

arima and TFW are the manufacters of most imate rebranded devices.
I have a uni, looking for his successor, but imate 7150 was cancelled....what a shame...and the no-video acceleration and how the whole story was handled by htc is a big hit on my expectations as a costumer....so goodbye, htc...
GPS apart, the 7150 was the most viable upgrade for all the universal lovers out there.
If you can live with the design, samsung i780 and his-soon to be released-US counterpart-seems a good alternative: fast cpu, best screen in the wm world (but only 320x320), gps, hsdpa, 2 battery out of the box....slim and great (much better live than on the net).
Cons:
no usb mini standard port - come on samsung....2008 and still proprietary connectors, adapter?
no vga (sigh...uni is 3.6, 7150 was presented at 3.8")
battery life not so great

Really?? Mine's been sitting on the charger for at least the past 1/2 hour. I just picked it up and touched a couple of icons on the screen and they responded instantaneously. . . and I have 4 different plugins on my Today Screen. I must be missing something here. I've got over 60 different apps, programs and core components loaded to the phone and storage card, so I would think with that much stuff I should be seeing some kind of lag.
The only problem I have with mine is the RECORDING video from the Tilt -- pretty choppy and it's apparent on the playback, as well. . . but that's why I have a digital camcorder. I wasn't planning to use the video recording "capability" of the Tilt to begin with. And for "planned" events/situations where I know I'll be taking photos, I have my digital SLR -- but for those "spur of the moment" pics, I have no complaints about the builtin camera for spontaneous photos.
But for viewing/watching videos on my storage card or streaming through sites like YouTube, I have absolutely NO complaints. (Using TCPMP, BTW. . .)

Two words for you: HP Oak. We can only dream it's exactly what BGR claims it to be.

Especially if the HP Oak comes in around $500.
With all the new non-HTC WM devices on the horizon, hopefully HTC will wake and smell the coffee VERY soon and not alienate the loyal following they have.
I guess I should not click the order button just yet on that new Tilt and AT&T contract. Did you hear that HTC?

to everyone who is defending HTC/Kaiser:
you guys are missing the point.
- no one would bitch around if the kaiser would cost 100 bucks. its more like 500. for that price it better does what a phone does, that costs 100 bucks.
- what kind of argument is it, when you are telling me that its ok that the camera is crappy, the response time is crappy and who knows what, just because its a ppc. since when are ppcs excluded from doing all these things? bullshit. this thing won so many awards. for what?
- its a high end ppc/phone and it should at least perform better than older devices!!!
i used once an old ppc with build in gps. the once that had the gps in the back where you tilt it up...when i clicked on something it came right up. it didnt take split second...
why cant the fucking kaiser do that?
p.s. i believe the cpu in the space shuttle was crappier and got nasa to the moon. go figure...

Be careful with buying HP handhelds. I had their "top of the line" (at the time) windows mobile 5 device, the hw6900. HP provided ZERO support, and with the exception of 1 patch. The device was really running beta software with bugs everywhere. Also, they monitor their forums and screen any negatively worded comments, so to have a better public image. I was grossly disappointed with them.

Guys, what you're pretty much all saying has nothing to do with the companies. Eten releases ROM updates. So does HTC. The difference is that we have a support community to work out all the kinks for HTC devices. If our community moved to Eten, their products would be much more attractive.
I absolutely agree, developer should try to cook some roms for eten, and then we should consider his impact on merchandise. Can you imagine my p3600 trinity with wm5 official rom? Think that, for tim, my phone italian brand, there are no official rom enabling gps..., if you call phone support, they don't know what you're talking about
Often: no cooked rom avaible = useless device!

Totally agree too and it is too bad. Cause when you look at the paper the specification of the ETEN GLOFIISH X650 are such very good. There is no equivalent in HTC pda phone with this size. I like htc and have always had htc devices but when you look at the drivers trouble....I'm really interested by this device

I was very interested in the E-ten phones based on paper specs, but have to admit that without a support forum like this, it would be tough.

I have to say that I was really excited to get my "iphone killer" tilt.
It has ALL the specs on paper to blow the iphone away. Sadly, the phone is slightly less than the sum of the parts. Ive flashed dutty cube/touchflo 6.0 and use the HTC home - which is MUCH better than the ATT crap that was on the phone.
pocket cm returns the threaded sms capability that I miss from my treo750 ( in know that 6.1 has this now).
But in general the problem w/ the tilt/kaiser is that its really POKEY. The screen tilt "animation" is laughable at best, but downright insulting after you see the superfast automatic animation the iphone does.
Also, the amount of time i spend looking at the pinwheel is ridicuolous. 3 sec to load a calculator???
cmon!
Lastly, the battery life suxs (yes ive ensured all my radios arent on 24/7 - ive kaisertweaked).
i really apprec the hard work of the dutty and company, but the simple fact is that the tilt despite all the hacks is still nowhere near efficient as an iphone. To further add insult, 3g/H is still pretty slow when browsing, great for a direct d/l thouigh.
Oh and the crappy wifi performance...its actually faster just using the 3g/HSPDA mode.
Im waiting for the 3g iphone, then Ill get that. the tilt blows.

I can't say I agree or disagree with any of you, I personally love my tilt (wish I had the TYTN2 with the front camera, but tilt saved alot of money). I can say I got exactly what I expected, I knew I wouldn't be able to play World of Warcraft, or take professional photos, or evem watch HDTV. Thats why I have a Desktop and Laptop, a nice Canon DSLR, and a 1080i TV, I wanted a phone and a PDA, with out having to carry 2 seperate devices. Granted my Palm OS Tungsten was a bit faster in responding and was more stable, but I love what all the authors have made possible on this site (CHEERS to you all!). I just wanted to say that if you have realistic expectations for a device that can do so much you would not be so disappointed. They can't put professional grade equipment in such a small device with so many other pieces of equipment built in to it, that would be impossible. As far a graphic support, why blame HTC solely for driver support, isn't it a qualcom chip? When i needed to upgrade my laptop video drivers I didn't go to Toshiba(who made the laptop), I went to NVidia(they made the graphics chipset). I wouldn't trade my tilt for anything (except a TYTN2). Just my opinion on this topic.

The x650 does look good on paper, i wish there would be more x600 owners willing to share their experience.
Anyone have links other then eten-users.eu??
