I think, we can handle a little plattform for brainstorming!

We know a lot in the moment about some importent and new things!

Do some one know ... it's possible to exchange a display with touchscreen if the connector is the same. only need to exchange a code block!

this is a example!

thought that was an obvious example

hey, you can find examples online where a CCFL display is hacked to use LEDs - no driver change needed

anyway, brainstorming platform? I say msn groupchat? :D

soo NO gps, ... and the Wifi is still possible? Or you're still looking at it, to find a solution available on the phone?

cause I've got a NIKI100. European version for all I know.
Read alot of it, but everyone's talking about different versions of the 'NIKE'/'Touch Dual'

there are some version of the Touch Dual

Nike100..Nike200..Nike300 but this doesn't matter there are no problems

Dear, Valvarin

I found someone can use GPS with google map.
he use KaiserTweak cap file and enable GPS
then use googlemap with GPS.
He told , that googlemap can recive signal.
Could u test it .

mccannmarc
25th April 2008, 09:33 AM
@ Serial_99

If it were that simple do you think these people would have spent hours upon hours pulling the device to pieces and scrutinising every last bit of the radio roms???? I dont think so. The reason your friend might think he has a signal on google maps is because it has an algorithm built in that can work out where you are (to within a couple of km) based on various factors such as IP address and what mobile phone mast you are currently communicating with. After reading these forums its a common mistake people make to think this is in fact GPS.

@ Valvarin, NetRunner etc

Guys let me know if theres anything I can do to help, I've got experience programming c, c++ and various assembler languages for PC's and other devices, maybe if we need to hack a driver together or something I could help you.

Exactly, after 51 pages of posts regarding this issue you would think that people would start to get the idea...... NO GPS!!!!! Unless you have some elite version of the dual that HTC decided to add a GPS antenna to!

I think that WIFI will happen though, just a matter of time now.....

Its useless in the moment!

You need to mod a Rom Section with a Special Radio (difficult)
The SPL we use in the moment, isnt full patched (TFT gone White or some Rainbow Color, but we know how to fix)
We need a very Old Radio Rom for some NV-Items to change (wait for a HTC Niki compatible NV-Item edit tool)
It works only 5 min!! After that -> bufferoverflow and Niki crash.

If we fix the 5min bufferoverflow (this is why valvarin need a secound Niki)

the main work was and is disassembly a lot of parts in the rom ... need very much time and is very risky.

but ... after that, we can provide a lot of usefull tools!!! like a "type a2" unbricker ...

Ah right, good to hear.

Hard to believe that the Touch Dual has hardware to run Wi-Fi, but (most likely) due to the new mobile data connections receivers they implanted in this device the company decides not to make use of it. The mobile networks must certainly have a lot of influence in this matter.

How ever, good to hear that people like you team up on this forum and combine there knowledge to do things like this.

Rather than being aggressive, why dont you just ignore them? I noticed you are only on your 4th post and being aggressive towards people who make comments that aren't even aimed at you is certainly not welcome in these forums and is certainly not impressing anyone.

However I do agree with you, If people can't be patient and wait then they should go and buy a device that states that it has WIFI to start with. hi guys i have been following this thread like a lot of people , the niki is just a great phone with one thing missing and that is the wifi option .
I would like to thank all the pros that are trying to make this work , i just came across cab file that the htc diamond uses as a comm panal and i tried to instal it
and too my surprise i found the wifi button that we can push to enable but when pushed nothhing seems to click , well anyway maybe there is a way to use this panel to somehow communicate with the wifi on the niki. those of you that install the cab will also see a numerous amount of wifi options .

huys dont know if this might help but just wanted to share this with yall >

Great work on the WiFi project, you deserve a lot of credit for the hard work you've done!

But, after reading through, it seems that you cant make WiFi work on the HTC Touch Dual without adding or replacing hardware? You say you have gotten WiFi to work, using parts from other HTC Phones, but does it mean that Wifi isnt something we would be able to get through software means only?

Just curious! :) Keep up the great work!

My holiday ends in 7 days. After that I'll point you to my friends website and you cal BS all you want. We had a little inside help in WHERE to look exactly but the rest we had to fix ourselves.

I didnt read the 59 pages, just some in the beginning and 10 from the end, its also contradictory, some say they had "proof" of the antenna, that it was part of the cpu, there was an enginner, the guys that were doing the software in the vacations, lots of lols and bad mouths...etc etc

Too bad if the GPS isnt present anyway...

Yes, I am. You will see soon enough. And NO I did not pay for a solution which I help create myself.

Also for the inside help on where to look we did not have to pay. Some guy at HotTechnicalCircuits (who thinks it's a load of BS that operators can demand the full caps of his baby to be limited so they can make more money) pointed out to us where to look and we had to create the solution. :D

Thanks to your wining buddies on here you can soon enough get the solution from my friends and if your really nice they will let you have it for free.

Hello ,

Dear ZeroDotNet,
Unfortunately there is no WiFi connection built into the Touch Dual however, you can purchase a SD WiFi card for it. HTC does not manufacture or provide these SD WiFi cards, and will consider it third party hardware. Our Wiki page may have more information on this issue, you can access it at www.HTCWiki.com.

THIS IS A ANSWER FROM WIFI TEAM!

Sorry guys ... my english is bad!

I have tell the same thing so many time! We cant provide a You Tube Video. In the moment, we have a Screen Bug. The Device is only white and you see nothing on the phone! Only a fucking white screen! This is a SPL problem and disply difinition, we havent full patch in the moment. We use a remote tool to enable WIFI and test it, but if we make a youtube what ever ... nobody thing its true! on reason why we doesnt public code ... videos or discription! the most steps are very difficult! we need to write code in different sections of the phone. we need pre product radios, to edit some value, but this phone doesnt ring or you cant use to make a call. We doesnt patch the spl, why we have a very big bug in the power management! it menas ... after 5 min the device crash, but WIFI WORKS!!!

YES IT WORKS!!!!!

But this FUCKING POWERMANAGEMENT BUG ... i cant tell it with other words ... prevent us to public all infos!

You know the frankenkaiser tools to rewrite a "typea2" error??? this is a tool created from WIFI Team, to patch a Spezial part in the Radio. Sorry guys if you doesnt see the great work we have done. MFG SPLs are one of the first steps for wifi testings, but its public since a lot of months!!! If you read all about MFG SPL and you have luck and your HTC Niki have a pre wifi eeprom inside, you can make basic wifi tests! the secuity unlock is a gool to from wifi project! we use it to check some ram adress and you use it to unlock your SIM card. nobody know this ... but it is!

what is the different about bad projects and good projects with a lot of problems?

Good project public pre steps!!!!

all about radios ... unbricking qualcomm devices is a gool around the wifi project AK jockyw!!!! (jockyw is the main guy, valvarin make a lot too)

if you dont understand ... i havent a problem ... we release all infos if we get fix the LAST problem!!!!!!

if you dont want wait ... buy a fucking other device or a gameboy

we hack in a level ... a hand full guys can understand the steps ... only a hand full!!!

next very big problem ... if we can fix all problems and provide tools ... the most guys brick here HTC NIKI!! why they doesnt read the thread correctly. i mean ... why so many guys have problem to flash a stupid HardSPL??? to patch a product NIKI for Wifi need a lot of time. to flash the importend rom part, you need 30 min!!!

all guys can thing i am lie ... what else ... possible we can release it in one year ... possible we can release it in one week ... i dont know! look around how many time is need to create the first HardSPL. Now we need some hours ...

THX for reading ... sorry for my bad english!

Wifi is not in the MSM7200, It can be linked to it by the SDIO bus: (like every platform I worked in Motorola)
http://www.ent.eetchina.com/PDF/2007FEB/DTCOL_2007FEB15_AVDE_RFR_AN_01.pdf?SOURCES=DOWNLOA D

And I don't think that HTC will put a component for nothing in the dual. It costs too much.

I think if dual has Wifi, it wouldn't be difficult to enable it, as Dual as the same architecture than the kaiser.

Maybe I'm wrong, but to be sure I would see a picture of a disassembled Nike.
Wifi can be easily recognised. I will dissemble mine as it's under warranty.:p

and why are you soooo sure it is only for SDIO?? theres no information on it...
why should htc even START developing something that isnt supported?

we have all a working version ... but every time the powermanagement crashs!

So if You get working wifi, but "only" device crash, why don't you post picture/video with working wifi?

Ok no problem, maybe, Netrunner is maybe right, but on the pictures I saw, the bluetooth chip seems too smal to be able to be a bluetooth+Wifi one. I was not able to see the chip reference too as the pictures were too black. Somebody know what is the chip reference?

I read that the USA dual touch will have wifi. If this one is similare to the one we have, wifi activation can be done easily. I don't know if this one will be releases soon.

Sorry Toug, but I think they are no chance to activate GPS. I don't remember if the niki have the chipset for GPS, but even if it exist and someone found how to activate it, it will not detect any satellite 'cause no GPS antenna is present on the niki.

And to the wifi crew, thanks for all of your work :)

Not that easy, man :)
It's not only the antenna, but the transceiver chipset itself.

GPS (very) rough schema:

hi kids:

After read in this (http://www.ent.eetchina.com/PDF/2007FEB/DTCOL_2007FEB15_AVDE_RFR_AN_01.pdf?SOURCES=DOWNLOA D)document I understand that my HTC dual havn't WIFI inside, only GPS. But maybe the htc havn't antenna inside.

If one day we can activate the GPS and we can found a satellite... Will consume more fast our batery?

Isn't better buy a micro sd gps? where can I find one? (In USA)

Nikole,
If you want use a gps receiver, use a Bluetooth one. You will have to pair it and then you will be able to use all GPS software (like Tomtom). This is the mean I use.

I agree, there are plenty of very good Bluetooth GPS receivers, I use a Holux one and its great, and best thing is it doesn;t chew threw the battery (unlike my old kaiser) as its only using bluetooth.

How many times do i need to say it???

You will have wifi when we get it working, and i think you must wait a long long time for it.

You will never get gps on niki!!!

I hope no one ask's for this again... pffffffffffff

And if you read the entire thread you should already know that GPS will never work and that Wifi is present on niki devices!

If you had read this thread, you would know that wifi is not in the 7200 board, and also bluetooth is not in the 7200 board. You would also know that The niki bluetooth chip is connected to the main board via MDDI, and you would also know that the bluetooth chip that is inside niki's devices is a bluetooth+wifi chip. You would also know that we have disassembled many times niki devices and that we read and searched a lot for all the info about niki's chips. This project has started a long time ago, not only the last 2 days, so do yourself a favor and read the thread since the beginnig before starting to throw questions into the air...

"The Qualcomm MSM7200 Baseband Applications Processor is part of Qualcomm’s convergence platform. It operates on the WCDMA/HSUPA and EGPRS networks. The MSM7200 chipset supports data rates of 7.2Mbps on the downlink and up to 5.76Mbps on the uplink for fast connection speeds. Additional connectivity is provided through the Mobile Digital Display Interface (MDDI), Bluetooth v1.2 and WiFi. "

And now that i lost my time explaining to you what is already explained in this thread, i must sleep...

I don't see any reason for it, people must read before post and always asking for news should not be a reason for post. I think this is very easy to understand, but only some guy's understand it...

kerrance76

locking the threading will only cause people to start a new one every time they get a nike and cant be bothered searching or reading first. Within a few weeks there would be hundreds all asking the same already answered question

screwup is normal, if the PID is not for the particular device, the OEMSBL will do different hardware init which most probably will not be the perfect match for the device.
