Hi to everybody!

I've been using for a long time a great mbw150 music edition but now I have the famous dim lcd problem. It's out of warranty and here in Italy sony ericsson support doesn't even know this great watch exists....so no hope to get it repaired!

I'd like to buy another one but I was wondering if the mbw 150 update (brown strap model) or the mbw 200 (yeah I know it's for ladies but the black one isn't too much a ladies watch) got this issue solved or if I must be prepared to have it borken in a couple of years again..... I read many complaints coming from mbw 100 and mbw 150 owners but none from mbw 200. maybe as it's just newer?

otherwise I might wait for the sony liveview device....but it's a bit too childish! mbw 150 watches are very nice imho! and the mbw 200 looks smaller than the mbw150 too, and that's good news!

Hi,

I am just curious as to what are the current limitations on Windows Phone 7 that dont allow a port to be made of this software to the phone ??

and do you think that in the future that possibly it could be done if software updates for the phone come out ?

I just ordered a HTC 7 Mozart and it just hit me now that my watch will no longer be compatible.. :(

Ignition2:
Windows Phone 7 has no Bluetooth API so 3rd party apps can't use Bluetooth at all.
Apps do not run in the background.
No access to users emails/text messages/phone calls.

If I have gone out of range, and then return to my phone, once the watch has re-paired with the phone, will I be notified of missed calls and missed texts that occured whilst I was out of range?

Thanks.

I've got the MBW-150 Music, my wife's got the MBW-200. Her blue oled screen is definitely much brighter than my orange one, which seems to have been dimming over time.

The rubber wristband on my Music Edition watch broke. Does anyone know where to get a replacement. Obviously I've contacted SonyEricsson, but if you know an online store selling them it would be good.

Thanks!

I don't know about the music edition, but the wrist of my executive seems to be nearly the same (some minor optical differences) as the one of my brother's Fossil watch (I also read somewhere that SE developed the watches together with Fossil). So perhaps you don't even have to use an original SE one. But because I don't have your model I can't say for sure...

For reference: I found a supplier of all the wristbands for the MBW-series: anovo.se. They're not that cheap though. With shipping it's about a third of the price of an MBW-150 classic update...

so I'm considering a new watch instead or replacing the wristband. That way I'll get a brighter OLED as well.

My Executive MBW-150 is starting to dim like others have reported. It is visible indoors or in shade, but under a light or outdoors it is almost unusable. Has anyone considered trying to swap the display from the cheaper ThinkGeek watch into an MBW-150? I believe they are the same resolution.

I've never had my MBW-150 apart, but I know others have done so to replace the battery. I wonder if the display has a ribbon cable that might be common between the two devices.

Really long shot, I know...but the MBW-150 appears to be pretty much irreplaceable now, and I'm not seeing any good alternatives anymore.

You may have easier access to them in the EU. Here in the states they are USD$300 (~225 Euro) or so...besides, I am partial to my executive edition which is extremely hard to find. If I could buy a $60 watch from ThinkGeek and replace the display I'd jump at it. :)

Hello everyone!

I just got my SE MBW-150 Music Edition (the orange one) from the box and spent an hour or so trying to get it to work with my HTC HD2.
I was using a custom rom and I read on the forum that there are known issues with custom roms... so I loaded the latest stock WWE rom from htc.com and the only thing currently installed on the phone is openwatchm v1.2.5.1.
So the issue: the watch and phone pair successfuly and when I hit the Start (Connect) button in smartwatchm I get the standart message "Waiting for connection. Press a button on the watch." - so I hit the upper right corrner of the watch and I get the battery icon on the screen... but nothing else happens. It just hang there. I tried selecting SE MBW-150 Update from the list - same story.

Any help will be of great value right now... I want to see it work so badly :)

I've got a new MBW-150 but it won't connect. I've been using an MBW-150 previously. The screen dimmed. Now I've got a new watch but I cannot seem to connect. I'm using WinMo 6.5.

I figured I needed to either change the device (Settings--> Device) or re-Discover and Pair, but both functions are greyed out on the phone, so that I cannot access them. I'm using smartWatchM v 1.2.6.0 (20100227).

Any hints?

Unless you absolutely need original band, I believe any 20mm springbar wristband/watch strap will do. Tons of different designs are available cheaper and also you can find one that you like better than original one. For example, try eBay, or this shop is pretty good too - http://www.watch-band-center.com

Edit: sorry, just noticed original question was about MBW-150 and not MBW-200 (which is 20mm). Not sure which size MBW-150 is, you may measure it yourself (distance between lugs). As long as it using springbar strap, third party straps should also work.

Does anyone know if it is possible to display the number calling in large fonts.

If I disable 2-lined Caller ID, no number at all shows, just a blinking phone symbol. If I enable it, the number shows, but only in half size (obviously, as it is a one of two lines). So is it possible to get the number to show despite having 2-lined caller ID disabled?

Thanks!

UPDATE! Suddenly the phone number shows with numbers displayed as a full line. Don't know what was wrong previously.

i tested something and foud out (on my htc hd2):

the sms error (smartWatchM error on mobile phone) does not depend on the messaging client.

i had custom ROM (energy rom, latest version and older ones) and with newest messaging client, the error happens. without messaging client (windows stock) the message is not registered of the smartWatchM and nothing happens.
with an old messaging client the error is stil there.

now i am on the newest vodafone germany stock rom (with newest messaging client) and smartWatchM works fine.

I've made two installations of smartwatchM previously, to my and my wife's mobiles. She's got a new one, an Xperia X1 and I'm having trouble.

With the phone connected to my PC I clicked the .NET compact framework v 3.5icon on the computer which transferred the file to the phone.

I then proceeded to transfer the smartWatchM cab file to the phone. I can see it under My Documents, but when I click it, the extraction is stopped and a text says that the smartwachm.cab file was not installed.

I tried reinstalling (removing and reinstalling) the .NET framework, but it made no difference.

Any ideas of what might have gone wrong?

Thanks!

I've read and searched this thread and the smartmadsoft forums as well, and have tried the various versions of the program (latest beta, 1.2.5.1, the specific ones for widcomm bt stacks, and older com port versions), the registry edit to stop the serial service (couldn't find an entry for btwatch to change but maybe this rom isn't 6.5.3) and combinations of selecting the SE MBW-150, 150 update, and LM Technology devices in the program.

I can get as far as pairing through the program ("Watch" which is what the Tilt2 recognizes it is called as well), getting a "success" message on the watch. (Note that the program will still indicate the watch is paired even when the watch's BT is off!) I get hung at the press a button or enable bt connection on the watch messages and can get no further. Pairing through the watch/Tilt2 directly first doesn't help.

So my questions are these: Is there supposed to be a "fake MBW-150" to select in the device settings of the program (I don't see one)? If not, do I select the MBW-150 or the LM -958? Anything else I can or should try?

Hello All Users,

I'm not able to connect MBW-150 with my Xperia X2. It connects for some time and then the watch drops the connection automatically after 10-15mins. I have to delete the watch from default BT manager in Xperia X2, restart the phone, reset the watch to connect it again for another 10-15mins. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. :(

I really love this watch and the features provided by the software.

Everything is default in my phone. Software version: R3AA035, GENERIC_SG. I'm a noob in using custom roms and all. :-S

Can someone let me know in steps, and in detail what i should do to get it working on my phone?

Hi, I'm quite happy with the functioning of this app with my MBW-100 from Ericsson paired with my HTC HD2 on win6.5 (and previously TP2) - kudos to the developer.
Anyway, I recently broke my watch and I'm planning to invest in a different model altogether. The CITIZEN AIBATO M Bluetooth watch (model # TM84-0342V ) is something i'm very tempted to get - alot of very good features including even calendar and facebook/twitter notifications, but the bottom line is that its a very aesthetically appealing watch to begin with, and id be happy if only the basic phone notifications work.
Now, I know this app is listed as supporting the Citizen i:Virt Series - but what about the AIBATO M???
NOTE: I know that officially, the company states that this watch only works with SoftBank phones (the same way Ericsson said their watches will only work with Ericssons and some Nokias - but we all know, its all about the app on the smartphone). I'm not looking for ALL functionality of the watch to work, but if I can get ATLEAST call notification, email and text notification - I can work with that.
So, has someone tested this app with the AIBATO M (or I:Virt M)???
PS: Also, can someone please let me know exactly what the difference is between the Citizen i:Virt M, and the Citizen Aibato M - their pictures are identical, they look like the same product to me so is it a rebranding or something???)
Thanks in advance for your help.

I was using i:Virt with my HD (blackstone) until the band is broken then I bought an i:Virt M (newer model). i:Virt is using Headset profile, so any phone support BT Headset can connect it and show caller id when phone ring. There is no problem with incoming call since u still press button on phone to accept calls and audio won't route to headset (watch). But when u make outgoing calls the phone will default to connect to headset and once the calls picked up from the other side u won't hear anything from the phone and the other side won't hear u too (audio routed to the watch). Blackstone is using MS BT stack, there is a registry to disable this outgoing call default route to headset and problem solved. When I changed my phone to HD2 (Widcomm BT Stack), I couldn't find a way to change the default audio route for outgoing calls. I have to disconnect the watch from the phone before I make calls.

After spended countless days on searching the web for how to tweak Widcomm BT Stack, I found this wonderful app. Installed and couldn't get it to work on HD2 + i:Virt M combo. SmartWatchM can discover and pair the watch but it just won't connect. I tried lastest version, widcomm version and beta version, none work... I read somewhere that i:Virt with SmartWatchM must be on MS BT Stack.

I end up bought MBW-150 Music Edition, 1/3 cost of i:Virt but a lot lot more functions. i:Virt can only dispaly caller id and duration on non-offically supported phones. Now I am very happy with HD2 + MBW-150 combo + SmartWatchM, more function than I needed. Only 1 thing I dislike is the display a lot smaller than i:Virt (time and caller id)

BTW I think in Japan it call i:Virt and Aibato is for other countries (model# are the same)

Hi All,

I've been using this unique SmartWatch application for a long time. It works well with Omnia II and MBW-200. Thanks for all for developing.

There is one thing which for I have not found solution yet even searching this forum and also other sites by Google.

I use CT Scheduler to switch the phone part and Bluetooth on/off scheduled to save battery. As CT Scheduker switches the BT off the SmartWatch switches it on immediately even the phone part also in off state.

Is it possible to manage it any way?

First of all, thanks alot for this great software - I've been using it on my HTC HD2 (and previously my HTC TouchPro 2) with Sense UI for a couple years now with no issues when pairing with my SE MBW-100. I recently got a new BT watch, the Prada Link, and I can't seem to make it work right.
First (but this is not the problem that bothers me), the connecting/pairing is always a problem. Its not exactly seamless. I can discover/pair the watch with my phone no problem, but on the smartWatch log screen, the log is stuck on "Connection Successful". Sometimes it doesnt perform the usual drill of indicating what services are active - and consequently, doesnt really do anything - no incoming caller notification or sms-notification even though the watch itself was showing as paired. I normally end up having to do soem back and forth of resetting both the watch and the phone, sometimes deleting the device from my BT manager and re-discovering and pairing it, sometimes reinstalling the app, etc.
Anyway, when I finally get it connected successfully (with all the indicators showing as "set" on the log screen), all that ever really works correctly is the sms notification and Caller-ID (which is even better than on the MBW-100 btw) - but for the life of me, I can't get the caller-ID for incoming calls to work right - the watch vibrates continously (with no caller-id shown) and never goes quiet. It gets stuck on the vibration until I actually reset the watch.
I must be doing something wrong since you have pictures showing it working correctly on the prada link (the only difference being that you seem to have a different ROM of Windows Mobile) - so what I'm I missing?
PS. On a post somewhere, I read something about changing one of the registry values of "HKLM\Software\Widcomm\BTConfig\Services\0001\Auto" from 1 to 0 - Tried that too and it didnt solve the problem.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Another question:

Is it possible to close smartwatchM application pushing (long) a button on the MBW-200 watch? I mean one of the User files for example...

Or is there a parameter to close like smartwatchM.exe - close or exit for example?

Thanks in advance

Thanks a lot in advance,
Hello, my Xperia x2 now working ok with smartwatchm and MBW-150 !!!
This useful for me:
in registry Hkey local machine/software/microsoft/bluetooth/device found folder with name 001EDCA35235 with MBW150 data inside or found similar folder with your tipe watch. Delete this folder complet. Soft reset phone, and run smartwatchm/setings/ discover and pair function. The MBW is found .........

Hie,

My MBW-150 works even without the registry fix you mentioned.

When i bought the phone and installed Smartwatchm, the 'Device' and 'Discover and Pair' options were greyed out but once i reset the phone (Settings>System>Phone Reset), it was highlighted again. I do not know why that happened but now it does not give any problem and stays connected to my phone for the whole day. In extremely rare cases it refuses to connect, but resetting the watch and pairing again solves the problem. :)

Hey friends... How are you doing today?... I want to thank for this great app, I've been using it since Nov. 2010 and it still works very good... but I got two little problems, not with the program itself but with my watch... As I've been using it with music enough time, I found that "NEXT TRACK/UPPER VOLUME" button is now difficult to press, even tought it still works, due to INTENSE usage... hehehe... (I was like a child with new toy, hehehe)... and I was thinking that could be really (MORE) amazing...

1. If there were a feature to personalize those 3-button-function on my MBW-150 where I could set up between "Next track" and "Last Track" buttons where they could be function swapped... (On Menu Mode)

OR

2. If there were a rotate feature where "Menu changing" could go from Menu 10 to Menu 1 or Menu 1 to Menu 10 instead of stopping over Menu First or Menu Last... (On Menu Mode)

and besides those two (or at least one of them)...

3. If there were a feature to Limit Menu steps to the number that WE WANT and not to be 10 as DEFAULT ALWAYS... It this way we won't have to go through ALL 10 MENU STEPS going forward and backward to go round to MENU 1 again... ufff... and we won't have to press many times those buttons even thought in intense usage and we will protect our watches from damaging....

It would be more flexible... Don't you think?... And Thanks again!!!...

Hie Xilsoh. The features you've mentioned are really good. Hope the experts can take up your suggestion.

" If there were a feature to Limit Menu steps to the number that WE WANT and not to be 10 as DEFAULT ALWAYS..."

This is not entirely true because in SmartwatchM you do have a feature to customize your menu. (Menu>Settings>Tools>Customize Menu)
So, what that means is you can "Move up" all the things you need and happily Enable only those using "Enable first X items" option on the top. I guess that was what you wanted. isn't it?

Btw which MBW-150 do you have? Do you have any battery issues? I found out that the watch loses a lot of power only if the watch has the digital time running on it. I reset the watch if i need to have the watch's analog clock running for many days. I haven't done any battery endurance check on it. I leave my watch to charge overnight every night. How do you charge your watch? I have the Music Edition. :)

Hi Moneytoo. I'm a fan of your app. Awesome work! :)

I had a question for you. I do not know if it had been asked before.

Can you make Sony Ericsson Liveview to work with SmartwatchM?

Is it possible by any means? SE Liveview with Windows Mobile?

Now the SDK for webOS is out. Is there now a real chance for smartwatch on webOS 2.0?

Any news on this yet?
My MBW 150 display has faded to far to be usable, I am now in the process of taking SE to the small claims court as the watch is only 18 months old, and consumer direct say it should last a lot longer and I can claim under the sale of goods act as it is not durable enough.
anyway I cannot be without bluetooth notifications, so in the meen time do I get another mbw150 and claim for that too, or get the live view as they are half the price?

@delboydell -> same predicament - only I now own two MBW-100s and both have faded displays. I ABSOLUTELY love the MBW-100/150 watch designs by SE. According to me, they were the best "manly" bluetooth watches ever designed , and I like most the fact that they were "watch first" , had metallic builds, and were analog (the analog part is important because even when the battery is not enough to support notifications, the watch is still usable as a regular watch for an additional 2 or 3 weeks atleast)

The only issue in getting a THIRD SE watch (I know Im crazy to even think abt it, but i havent seen any other brand worthy of my time) is that SE and Fossil has stopped making those watches, or supporting them, which is a bummer. The Citizen i:Virt M series is promising but until I'm not getting the warm and fuzzy on whether this software supports it fully. Good luck finding a new MBW 150 (if you buy it used, be ready for that issue creeping up soon). If you DO find a site selling new MBW-100s or 150s, please post a link on this thread. I'm also contemplating liveview but I have a feeling I may not fully enjoy it - mainly because its made of plastic, which means I may need a plastic watchband too (puke puke)

have you considered buying the mbw-200? I know that it's made for women but I have 3 and have changed the straps (my wrist is large) and they look quite good and you can still find them at a reasonable price. last summer I went to germany and I found them for 40 euro each! and I got 3 look at the results after I changed the straps.

I am using sony erricson mw600
Everything Good

After the installation smartWatchM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1857431#post1857431)
and pairing the watch

I have a problem
After the end of any audio file
Lose "stereo audio" connection
and have to push the play button to reconnect "stereo audio"

and also
After the end of calls

Lose "Hands Free" connection
and have to push the Talk button to reconnect "Hands Free

I think there is a conflict between the Watch and mw600 connections

i m using hd2 and mbw-150
Hi people!

I read about this software and It's fantastic all the features. But, using a Windows Mobile 6.1 and a SE MW-600, even if I configure It as If I use HBH-DS980, Iy didn't work...

My intentions were to connect only this two devices and not a watch to see titles, artists,...

Is there a way to do that? I'm tired of searching for a software like this...

Thanks in advance

Hi!
I just got MBW-150 Music, and I love it with your program!
Great work!

I have one question:
I use Windows Mobile 6.5.3 on HTC Diamond, everything works fine, but is there a way to know which notifications are turned on, and which are turned off?

Picture in attachment.

I think I broke my new MBW-150!
I was playing with my new watch.. a lot!
And it is now stuck in "connecting", or how do you call this simbol.
FxTYJLvk62s

It is few days old, and I don't want to opet it to remove battery.
It does not react to pressing or holing any of the buttons.
I even tried to connect it to charger, but same simbol stays on LCD.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: Solved!
Right botom key started working after few presses. It turned bluetooth off.
And I made hard reset on MBW-150, and now it works!

I'm using
-a new MBW-150 btWatch
-HTC HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5
-smartWatchM1.2.6.0

I can receive notifications for calls, missed calls, email, can control music (just not the volume) and so on.

But for SMS, I don't receive anything. Of course, I switched on SMS notification.
I can receive a test SMS, but not a real one.

Any idea, please?

Very impressive, matihosn!

I've got two MBW-150's, and my wife's got a MBW-200. Her's really solid and looks very, very slick.

Mine both have broken wristbands and nowhere to find new ones, and no replacement look nice enough. I wish I'd gotten the classic with the steel wristband. I'm also not certain about the oled panel, which has gone weak. It may be due to the battery, but it could also be the already discussed problem of dying Oleds.

The only way to find out is by replacing the battery.

Where do you get replacement batteries for yours?

Where do you get replacement batteries for yours?thank you for the compliment, but I haven't changed a battery on any of my watches. although I my first MBW-100 did suffer the dim display effect after 2 years. sadly there is no remedy for that problem in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12513914&posted=1) someone is trying to change the displays without any luck it's not a battery related problem, they just die out after a couple of years, but I have managed to get the watches for very goog prices on e-bay (germany) look here (http://www.ebay.de/sch/i.html?_nkw=mbw+sonyericsson+&_trksid=p5197.c0.m627) some sellers post that they do not send abroad exept for germany but if you contact them most of them will inform you for the price to send abroad. note that the mbw watch series is no longer available from sonyericsson so what you buy now may be the last that you will see.
