I am using Resco Explorer to try and acsess files on my PC over wifi.

I connect fine and see my shared files when I map the drive.

The problem is that I can't open or perform any action on the folders displayed even though they are marked for sharing.

Would like to stream MP3s and view photos.

Any help would be appreciated.

Don't map the whole drive on Resco, only map individual folders that you need to use.
If a drive holds a large number of files, it can take some time to cache all the icons and Resco throws a wobbly at that.

See if that works. :)

I don't understand what you mean by only mapping the folders and not the drive.

When I reach "My Network" I map the drive. Which then show my PC.

When I tap on the name for my PC it show the shared folders.

The two soft buttons give me a choice of "Share" on the left, that I don' understand and "Menu" on the right.

There is no option to map these shared folders and any step that I can find.

How do I access the files within them.

Once shared, go back to the main screen and tap the shared drive icon in the bottom right corner. You should see a pop-up menu with your mapped folder on it, TAP to open!! :)

I hit the share button although it does not make sense to me either but it works. I access my \\piii\c$ share so I have access to the whole drive. I seem to have enter the username and password twice when I first setup the connection but I don’t need to enter it again since I tell it to remember the password.

I had to go press the "Share" soft key and then uncheck the box for "Permanent connection".

Then it seems to work.
Now can an application find these files to open and work with or must the files be accessed through Resco Explorer?

Try Orb.

www.orb.com (http://www.orb.com)

They stream video, MP3, photos, have file exploration, etc. from the PC.

I want to be able use wifi while at home.

Can applications on the Tilt access the shared folders directly or do you have to start a process by selecting a file from within Resco?

For most applications within the MS WM OS you have to access them through Resco file explorer as none of them have any sort of tree structure file selection system. Some can have the full path typed in them but remembering every filename is almost impossible.

Third party apps like TCPMP or Coreplayer can navigate to them via their own file select once the drive has been shared by Resco. :)

This is indeed the case. Gotta love the anti-logic that goes into some of these interfaces.
