I always check the 'Phone Software Updates' section and it states 'Select your PDA phone or smartphone model from the list. If your registered product is not listed, please check back next time as new patches are added regularly.' but there is never a list.

On the 'Other Downloads' link there is a list of various phones, on clicking the S710 I only get;

Windows Online Messenger.

The upgrade is only one app in this rom ... thats config the GPRS connection for your provider automatic ... thats all.

I can't download the rom from HTC member site because it doesn’t appear if you haven't registered your product, and I can’t registered it there because mine is not is not HTC-branded device, I have XPA v1415.
So if anybody can upload on ftp German version of new rom would be great!

I already extracted the files inside the WWE to see what was inside, to update my custom rom and I noticed an new module in the OEMDRIVERS, called SIMBlock.exe. Anyone know what that might be ? I sure don't like its name :p

I am loving the sound of a connection setup wizard! I hope Dr. Gonzo can get it in his final rom! I am having the hardest time setting up MMS for T-Mo US.

I never realised how hard this was because I always had a nice utility I found on htc website. But this was for french providers. I thought they made it for every country. I guess I was wrong!

Anyway, even if I don't make it to fully upgrade my rom to the newest version, just adding this utility shouldn't be a too big problem.

is it me, or are you guys finding the rom much slower than expected? maybe its because i had dr.gonzo's rom installed which ran beautifully, but not really satisfied with the new rom's performance. maybe theres a way to speed it up, if so please keep me in the loop :D

seems like a nice and stable rom.
At first it seemed slower, but after 3 or 4 restarts while installing everything it now seems as fast as the guava/ara rom.

are you going ot switch back? any benefits in me flashin to the new one? i checked and apparently by installin the update i was able to retain the new radio version (even after i flashed back to new guava) so wondering if its worth it on ur current settings.

ohhh and off topic, but what additional apps do u have installed on ur smartphone :D interested in adding some cool apps, but not sure what to add. is there any app that lets u watch tv through iptv (wifi)?

i believe it was a script written by someone that dr.gonzo was able to incorporate into his rom. should be discussed somewhere on the main thread.

think i'm going to stick with dr.gonzo's rom for the moment, seems a lot faster from my take. oh u should install google maps, nice little app :)

I've posted my shortcuts for wifi and bluetooth somewhere in the thread for my rom. You'll have to search a bit though. I've used a programm by veejay for bluetooth and another one for wifi for which I don't know the author :(

This new rom doesn't include .NET CF 3.5 (it is still 2.0) and that's one of the primary thing that made my rom faster.
I was hoping that it might fix the problem I had connecting with messenger but the problem really seemed to be with Orange/Sim card and not the rom..

Makavieli86 : Yes you retained radio version because my rom doesn't include radio with it, so anyone can choose which radio version they want to use.

And flashing radio doesn't erase all data on the phone if I remember correctly.. But I don't want to give a definitive answer. Can someone confirm it doesn't ?

EDIT : It also looks like this rom leave more free storage on the main memory compared to the arabic rom.

I can't register my product on HTC's site because my S710 come from orange (SPV E650) and S/N is invalid.

This ROM update includes everything: WM6, updated standard applications, some new things, new radio (this means the phone radio connection, not a radio like tv :rolleyes:) etc

Just to update, I've flashed radio 4.1.13.54 and it seems to have less sensitivity for Rx with my "seat of the pants testing". I don't get service in my place unless my phone is held in a certain location at a specific angle. Flashing the new radio, I can't hold a signal properly, dropping back to .47 solves it and I can hold a signal where I usually can. 4.1.13.44 also had this issue for me.

You need to CID BYPASS with USPL, which is stickied in the Vox main forum. Once you have the "patched" CID bytes, you can flash any ROM, cooked or vendor specific.

That's too bad cause this update seemed to solve the windows live messenger connections issues I had with Orange. I haven't tried it with the official rom but I observed this since I upgraded my custom rom with this official rom so I guess it should work wih this one too.

First use winrar to extract the full ROM, then use NBHextract.exe (search) to extract the ROM parts (.nb files) from the main RUU_signed.nbh
Then use Darksimpson's htc romtool (search) to create new "signed" versions of the ROM parts (.nbh)
Flash them with the ROMUpdateUtility.exe (also part of the full RUU).

Indeed, I would advise to always use this tool to flash radio and/or OS.
If you have USPL flashed this makes sure you cannot overwrite the SPL

It's a self-extracting archive which gives you the radio only, thought I already posted that, but well...:D

But more simply in every the process manager...even in the smartoolkit one you can see 2 processes for Smarttoolkit and 2 processes for Tornado

One preocesse for smartoolkit is light grey and one black...this means that the first one (grey )is the first loaded and the one "critical" for the system.

P.S: I've sarched a Process manager in which terminate smarttoolkit process works and none of the one i've tested worked. The idea was to terminate smartotoolkit when it locks up and after that (when the phone has turned to life again) reload it. No way for me

P.P.S: is there a script to add in your rom that keeps trying sending the SMS while the GSm signal turns back? I know It seems obvious that messages go into outgoing mail>>and then into SENT mail>> but for me simply the messages is not sent and it gets lost.

That doesn't happen for me! I've checked processes with Celetask and only one instance of those are running on mine after boot up. And yes I'm checking processes and not tasks. I think it's strange that it doesn't happen for me. Did you restore with sprite backup or any other backup utility after the rom upgrade?

I've noticed it's now possible to edit the "my texts" thing in sms... I don't think that was possible before, only on PPC if I'm not wrong. It feels like battery life have increased aswell. Was browsing for hours via wifi last night and the battery didn't drain nearly as fast as it used to do.

Another thing I'm not completely sure about if it was there before... I've noticed it's possible to import favorite urls from ie when composing an MMS... Maybe I just didn't notice that before?

Here's what I've found so far (To sum it up).

1. New version of Windows Live.
2. Office Mobile 6.1
3. Smaller text when reading sms.
4. Connection Setup wizard.
5. Possibility to edit the "my texts" in sms.
6. It's now possible to manually add words to the xT9 dictionary by pressing the D-Pad up while typing a word.
7. Some new icons in the phonebook. (I guess it comes with the updated Live Messenger).
8. It feels like the battery life have improved (I'm not completely sure though...).

Only to contact a french VOX owner on PM here on forum if they want to give you they're username and pass to download the firmware and after that let them change the pass with the new one.
There could be a problem with they're connection if they get corrupted file, and maybe you'll have better luck.
That's the way I've got the german version, thanks to user frauhottelmann!

No I don't think so, I think you have to do the USPL first, which let's you flash any ROM! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=330909 Do this before you flash the actual ROM!

try a hardreset, you have to :

1. turn off the phone
2. press and keep pressed the 2 softkeys
3. press power button for about 2 sec
4. release the power button, but keep the other 2 keys pressed about one more sec
5. a black screen will aprear with some white text asking for hardreset confirmation.

Or you can try to download from here

zandathrax : de toute façon tu as acheté ton tel chez Orange non ? (spv e650) ou alors c'est vraiment un htc Vox s710 (la version sans le logo orange sur le phone)? Parce que si tu as un spv e650 comme moi tu ne pourras de toute façon pas installer cette mise a jour de htc. Pour cela tu dois faire ce "CID unlock" en flashant le USPL.
Bon après il y a encore un autre problème potentiel. Je vois que tu es sous windows vista et apparement ça peut également poser des problèmes lors de flashage de rom. Mais là dessus je ne peux pas t'aider, je suis sous XP.

Ha oui là si tu es bloqué a l'écran tricolore (bootloader) et que tu n'a jamais flashé l'USPL je n'ai pas vraiment de solution pour toi :( Peut être en existe t'il une mais n'ayant jamais eu ce problème je ne la connais pas. Au pire tu as le retour au SAV mais je ne sais pas combien ça peut te couter.

seems like this rom offers some added stability, backed up everything with sprite backup before upgrading so the vox is basicly the same as before. Noticed it is now much quicker returning from stanby, it could often hang here for i dont know, 0.3~0,5 seconds now its almost instantaneous. Overclocking now goes higher, have mine up to 272 mhz from 252. as reported by total commander,(which I know is not accurate, but at least its a reference) Havent tested it for more than a day though, but no lockups experienced yet. This speed previously resulted in total lockdown after a couple of minutes usage. With this I am up from about 120 redraws in tomtom v6 to about 130-140 which I am quite pleased to see.

Exact! si tu as bloqué ton Htc c que la Rom a été installé à 100%, mais hélas corrompu.
Si la Rom n'était pas destiné à ton appareil, tu aurais été bloqué à 3% avec (error 270 (CID LOCK)), ce qui n'était pas le cas.

PS: Ils m'ont répondu la même chose, mais pour moi galère! J'habite à Tahiti.

Yeah I know, but it is not really 272 mhz, because this is reported by Powercontrol, which I believe is wrong, omap clock reports it as beeing 264 mhz. but anyway, couldnt dream of those speeds before, so something must have changed.

With Tornado Automatic CPU settings changing form 132-180-264 (OMAP CLOCk indicated) mine is lasting from 3 days...reading about 50 RSS news per day (thanks DOC Gonzo for your RSS HUB) a couple of sms and about 3 calls of 5 minutes each...now it is at 64% of battery... but i have to say that every day is connected by USB for 10 minutes to download RSS news

P.S: @ 264 Mhz is such smooth to use and very stable....:) at least stable like it is at 201 Mhz...on SmartToolkit (like I red on somwhere in this forum IN Options I've unchecked everything else than "Show Start Text" "Show Task Text" "Tray Clock format 12 hours")

No, it doesn't need to match. If you have a HTC original and you are updating with a HTC ROM there are no problems, it's just straight forward. Look in the Wiki (link is in my signature), there is a detailed guide with pictures. The radio will be updated too, if you have an older one.

then get one of the rom youd like to use (wm 6.1 mona lisa i use the 19700 test rom very good!)

after unlock the vox just install the rom!

What's the latest English HTC Vox ROM version and could I install it on a Orange SPV E650 - which is about to be SIM / Software unlocked?

I think that as you suggest they probably refer to 6.0

They might be curtailing and removing WM 6.0 updates because 6.1 upgrades are probably ready and should be coming soon.. that's in my view

i asked vodafone germany for wm6.1 vda v/htc vox

they sais its planned to release such an update to wm 6.1 but the date is unknown

might you haent red all but this is also mentioned:

NO s710 is mentioned so i think therd be no htc wm6-1 for vox!
