Does anyone know if there are batteries from other devices that will fit the Polaris, or is it a battery specific to this device? Thanks in advance.

According to this (http://cgi.ebay.fr/batterie-pour-HTC-Artemis-200-Love-Polaris-Artemis_W0QQitemZ120214832649QQihZ002QQcategoryZ14 0200QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem), it's the same battery for Artemis 200, Love, Artemis and Polaris.

That is what the link says but I have to say that I'm really suspicious. I have an Artemis and a Touch Cruise so I'm in a pretty good position to check this. Right now I'm running a test on my TC to try and reproduce a bug in a third party app so it's not accessible to me for a few hours but once it is then I'll have a look (although I hate to do it because the one thing I don't like about the TC is that the battery cover is horrible, it takes a disturbing amount of force to get off).

One comment on that battery in the link above though. I think you'd be short-changing yourself as far as the Polaris goes, even if it did fit, because the factory-fit Polaris battery is 1350mAh and this one is a 1300mAh.

I'm hoping that Mugen Power will come out with something, or that one of the existing non-Artemis batteries will fit. Mugen Power seem to consistently get about 10% more mAh on their versions of the batteries so I'd guess that their replacement for a 1350mAh Polaris battery would probably be a 1500mAh unit and an extra 11% on battery life is always useful.

Here is a link to what is available from Mugen for HTC devices right now: http://shop.eten.hu/batteries-batteries-c-25_33.html

P.S. If I take out my Polaris battery to put it side-by-side with my old Artemis one, will that effectively hard reset my device or is there a small backup battery in the device to keep it alive for a few minutes? If taking the battery out is going to hard-reset the device then I'm afraid that you might need to wait a day or two before it's convenient for me to do that.

This will not hard reset the device nor is there a backup battery. Because these devices now use non-volatile flash memory, they retain everything even with no power for extended periods.

Thanks for the info guys. Guess I will just wait for a high capacity battery to come out. Feel you pain about the battery cover.

@ JulianL

What's your feedback?
Are Cruise and Artemis batteries the same?

No, the Polaris battery has a higher capacity.
However, the same shape.
