Hi everybody
looking around to find out what is the status of HTC concerning a probably new drivers release for the devices with Qualcomm 7200 chipset, i've found the file below, which should contain a new User Interface code name MANILA.
I'm sure most of you hear about it.
Well, i've been trying to install the file, but in some way i don't get it, even if I edit the cab and write a new setup.xml. May be because I have the Original O2 ROM on my Orbit 2, i'm not sure at all
Could some of you try if the install works on your cooked HTC Roms ??

Well I can install the file (but can't uninstall it).
Seems to slow down my phone a bit, and it doesn't work.
It does show a plugin on the today screen "Tap here to start HTC Home.".
But it will respond with a "HTC Home is terminated unexpectedly, please tap here to start HTC Home."
What can I say, it looks interesting, but won't run for me.

doesn't work on my device (UdK Lizard 6.3). There is also "Tap here to start HTC Home" and then "HTC Home is terminated unexpectedly...".
When i reset, HTC Home is shown before entering my PIN, after it's gone and the "Tap here..." text is there..... and it's true, it's slowing down the device a bit...
damn....looks really cool, hope someone get this working! :rolleyes:

exactly LUA language is inside, e.g.:

function __class_ctor(class_tbl, ...)
local obj = {};
setmetatable(obj, class_tbl);
if (class_tbl.__init) then

else
if class_tbl._base and class_tbl._base.__init then
class_tbl._base.__init(obj, ...);
end
end
return obj;
end
function class(base)
local c = {};
if type(base) == 'table' then
-- Shallow copy of base, including all functions and properties.
for i,v in pairs(base) do
c[i] = v;
end
c._base = base;
end
c.__index = c;
local mt = {};
mt.__call = __class_ctor;
setmetatable(c, mt);
return c;

It's running on an e-ten x800 operating at a vga resolution.
If you want to get it working, you'll need to copy libGLES_CM.dll to the manila dir.
The libGLES_CM.dll I use is 0,8, might be an old version but it was the only one I could quickly find.

Installed on my elfin, slow as hell, and after resizing all the pictures the pugin resizes them back to VGA size...so it looks like shit on a QVGA device.
It seems that the software and place holders are all set for VGA. Perhaps any of the coders can have a look at this.
Anyway for anybody who will go so far to recode everything to QVGA, I attched the risized images. The zip file is still in the structure of the original program files structure.

I've put those images. Also make a tool to delete all X,Y,Width,Height and Value settings to 2. It work but the result is "shit". In the .m9 files there are functions for the animations. We have to edit them too, because there are coordinates too.
The good news are that on my device it works with 12-13 FPS!

Hi guys,
Since everyone was mentioning a VGA device, I thought I'd chime in. I've got an HTC Universal and I just installed this. I used the oglES file from here (http://www.vincent3d.com/software/software.html) and I am getting a whopping 1.29 FPS with 12.7 Avail. RAM.
Looks great, except that Manila doesn't have provisions for landscape mode. I can rotate the device to Portrait, though to see the full screen. It's very pretty, that's for sure.
Good find and thanks!

Same thing except 46 MB RAM free... using Dutty's V3... This is on AT&T Tilt... I actually just used the dll file from their website... instead of the zip attached... thinking it wud be faster... and it is... like .04 faster :-/
I am liking it and really want to get it working with correct resolution... The resolution might also be the reason slowing it down i am guessing...

agreed...without 3d drivers id assume that this new stuff that htc is coming out with (probably geared more towards the android system) that we are not going to just be able to rewrite the scripts to get it to work smoothly...hopefully the new devices will also be a variant of the msm7500 and we can rip the drivers from them

Yea i hope they use 72xx or 75xx from Qualcomm cuz then I think it wont be too hard for us to rip the drivers out...
The thing is that however if HTC planned to have this on new phones with same chipset, then why wouldnt they just release a patch for our phones?...
Well, atleast theres a lot of hope in the lawsuit since i saw an image of an open kaiser on this forum which actually has the qualcomm 7200... :) meaning hardware acceleration is supported :)

Any more progress? I,m working on cleaning up some of the smaller images, so it will look better when it's ready to try. I have edited some of the m9s, but there is a lot of editing to do! If you or nsa666 have finished all the m9 edits, could you please post them for download. I would like to try them out on the wizard and see what this app is supposed to look like, even if it's slow and resource demanding.

I'm not a developer but i allways like this kind of stuff just to figure out how to get it running on a device it was'nt meant for.
My advice, if you like to play around with scripts and stuff you can install it and have something to do for a while. If you dont want to edit files and stuff i guess you'll have to wait until it's at least working.

It's running on an e-ten x800 operating at a vga resolution.
If you want to get it working, you'll need to copy libGLES_CM.dll to the manila dir.
The libGLES_CM.dll I use is 0,8, might be an old version but it was the only one I could quickly find.
with this istructions It work also on a ETEN X500+ (VGA display).
I just download and copy libGLES_CM.dll from arm release (ogles-bin-1.0.0)
but slow average framerate (1.04)

I think I just found out what Manila is for: the Nvidia APX 2500. I read it yesterday at Engadget (http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/02/13/hands-on-with-nvidias-apx-2500-and-yeah-it-plays-quake/)and it seems to be the most promising performance upgrade for mobile phones.

Hi guys,
I've read several posts about manilla not working until we have better video drivers. I'm not an expert, but I know some of you are and I wondered how you know that it was written with different or future drivers in mind. If it is written for different drivers, why can't it be modified to utilize the current drivers we have? I've seen what Slither has done with the cube in c++ and its amazingly fast. I don't know what language manilla is written in, but surely one of you guys know enough to re-code this program to achieve at least 20fps, which would be more than acceptable. Maybe it's impossible, but there is a lot of talent on this site.

I have the right Hardware for this interface:

But unfortunatly I cannot get manila.exe to start, even with the 2 dlls files...

So it seems that this is TouchFLO 3D. I don't know if we will ever get it working on existing devices because it is VGA and I heard it relies on a good GPU. Then again, the Touch Diamond does use the QC MSM7201A so maybe that just means HTC is actually utilizing the ATI chip now. If that is the case, hopefully we can get it running on the SE X1 which has the same hardware.

Hey Maybe you guys can use these IMGS I did. I the PNG images were decomposed to Grayscale RGB-Alpha. I did this because scaling the IMGS down changed the RGB layers from the VGA originals. Then I scaled them cubic 50%. The recomposed them back to RGB-Alpha png. I didn't see any other images in the dll or exe.Hope you guys can use this.

I've read this whole thread, but the essential question remains, Has anybody got it to work perfectly on a QVGA screen? If yes could you please list step by step instructions and links to the exact files that you used.
Thank you.:)

...in a news italian site (i don't know if i can post here the link to external site) i've now read that, when available, the manila interface will be released by htc for new phones and for htc Touch, Touch Dual, Touch Cruise, TyTN II also...something right and truth?:confused:
"In ogni caso, quando HTC ufficializzerà la disponibilità della nuova versione del TouchFLO, essa sarà subito disponibile per il Touch, Touch Dual, Touch Cruise, TyTN II e per i futuri device."

Go to Program Files/Manilla on your phone and manually delete all the files. And go to Settings/Today and in today items uncheck Manilla.

I've installed the manila QVGA zip folder, and extracted all the files onto the manila folder. I extracted the dll zip folder onto the manila folder. Soft resetted my Tilt after I did a hard reset to being my manila experimentation. Still no go. Anybody else have any other suggestions?
1 question: Was I suppose to overwrite the manila folder with the extracted parts from the manila qvga zip folder?

I did just as you said plus I also tried everyone's suggestions but I still keep getting the follow message: HTC Home is Terminated unexpectedly, please tap here to start HTC Home.
Even if I could get it to work slowly and with just a few tabs working, It's progress. I'm wondering if it has to do with my rom. I'm using Dutty's Final WM6.1 rom that he did b4 he stopped working on roms. my radio is 1.58.16.27

well i installed the same cab file and copied the dlls to the \program files\manila folder and then applied the patch called HTC.ZIP (somewhere in the first 10 pages of thread) downloaded the QVGA zip (graphics) from another post and copied it to the directory on the device (\program files\manila\htc\assets)
after a soft-reset all was ok, the "time" animation will run until it reaches the current time then it will update normally.
PM if you get stuck

Edit: YES!!!!!!!!!!! I got it working.
0.97 Frames per second 40MB Ram available
it's kinda slow but the fact that it works is great!
Thanks alot Daniel and Dave! I really do appreciate it

there you go. Go into the registy. Somewhere in there you should be able to find the toggle to disable the signed certificate notification that keeps popping up.

If you can get the "Home" to display and the framerate is somewhat tolerable (anything above 4fps) then go into the \program files\manila\ and try play around with the shortcuts that are in the folder. The email shortcut brings nice 3d elements but you can tell its still designed for VGA device as 3d rendering is VGA in some cases (work on those scripts guys!)
sometimes you can get elements to work in the "screens" but they will not display properly. When you run the messaging shortcut it will take a while but eventually will load all your messages and allow you to scroll but not open them. also the "sounds" will show all of the ringtone-capable files on your device.
anyone with a better phone than me (Artemis 247mhz 23mb free RAM) should be way more successful.

Hello,
I have an XDA Flame and I thought Manila should be working well for me (VGA+3d acceleration on board)
However it always throws an "Unsigned" error (note: I have signature validation policy turned off).
Could this be a problem with my device not having a Broadcom but a Microsoft bluetooth stack? If so, do any "dummy broadcom dlls" exist?
l3v5y
14th May 2008, 08:00 PM
I doubt it's a bluetooth stack issue...
What OS (WM6 or 6.1?) are you running?
Do you get the unsigned error with anything else?

Well, I have WM5. As far as I remember, manila.exe had dll imports from some bluetoothy-named dlls which weren't in my \Windows folder.
Should I try a cooked WM6/6.1?
