First, u shld differ between Elf(64 Ram/128 Rom) and Elfin(128Ram/256 Rom).. what is ur device? be careful physically they are the same.
Mine is 128RAM/256ROM, which I bought in Vietnam. It is unlocked,which I was using VietTEL(Vietnam), T-mobil(USA) and Telcel(Mexico).
I love this little green baby, and that is why I am more cautious and afraid to brick this little baby like I did with iMate SP3i <--this thing will not even turn on anymore. Know how can revise this?:D:D

ok, so i've bought a HTC Touch and a friend directed me to this site some time ago. Now i'd really like to flash to one of the custom cooked roms here (i've settled on this one allready :P). I belive i've read up on how to do it... all except i don't have a clue if i've got an elf or an elfin. What's the difference and how does one go about to find it out? ^^

I've been using this ROM since it was published. It is excellent, stable and fast, no need to overclock.

I have installed the 8 Mb pagepool version, even though i own a simple, 64 Mb Elf. With developerone "AgendaOne" and "Spb diary" permanently loaded and running, I have about 17 Mb free memory all of the time. (BTW, it starts with 22Mb after a fresh boot but next day and afterwards it dives to 17 Mb and stays there as I can see).

I use a limited number of applications. There is Oxford Concise dictionary running simultaneously with MS Pocket Word (needed to copy and paste all of the obscure and interestnig words I have stumbled upon while reading some heavy literature), I use e-Reader, Vademecum and iSilo to read my ebooks, I use TCPMP from time to time and there is AvantGo to read some magazines off-line. Everything works just fine, and switching between different programs, such as the Oxford dictionary and MS Word is simply instantaneous. Thus, 8Mb pagepool and 17 Mb available for the various programs is absolutely fine with me.

I haven't tried MMS yet. According to my experience, MMS doesn't get configured by the connection setup and it has to be configured manually according to the instructions on the provider's web site. Haven't done it yet in Shadow 2, but it used to be the case with almost all of the ROM's I heve ever tried. I always had to configure MMS manually, even in the cases when the GPRS and SMS got automatically configured to the right settings.

You have made an excellent ROM, and I'll stick with the 8Mb pagepool version because it is fast and 17,5 Mb seems to be sufficient for my usage pattern.

Wow I finally flashed this rom now that the 4mb pp is out and i absolutely love it. I was using v4.0 blue touch and it was good but this is much better faster and stable. I love the way windows 6.1 is set up. It just sucks when you flash a rom to put all my cabs back on lol. But seriously looks great i love it much love.

Best Rom ever, very fast and stabile. I was using one with 8 mb pool for my ordinary Touch. Rom was realy fast but when I instaled 5-6 programs and was using Navigation system sighn memory full appered 6 times out of 10. Program Memory around 17-18 mb.

Now I instaled Rom with 4 mb pool and it is even faster. I instaled all my programs and tried Navigation system and it is flying. Program memory around 20-23 mb.

The default PP of Elf ROM is 4Mb already. You can backup it (or forget it :D), then chose which PP you like and run it (6,8,10).

I'm using the 8mb PP version for a few days (and loving it since then). I execute the 4mb PP bat from the first post (just that), but... nothing happens. I mean, it showed a window telling (saying it was OK), then I did a soft reset, but my ELF keep showing no more than 15 or 17mb after start up. Same values than before running the bat.

Any idea ?

I've done some reading on the various thread topics.

I'd like to install this ROM since I hear it's the fastest one around at the moment.

On a virgin phone, I need to CID unlock first. Since pof's instructions (sticky) have the pitfall of bricking your phone if you run the 3rd step, can I use Swiftblade's Blue Elves v5 installer to CID unlock/flash rom, THEN reflash to Shadow's?

Any problems anyone sees with that plan?

Or should I just do steps 1&2 of pof's guide and flash Shadow's directly?

I have used the Blue ROM with the built in CID unlock facility, but i cannot install this ROM after multiple attempts, please help, i really want to try the shadow ROM as well! Is it possible for cloudyfa to bundle the CID unlock app along with his shadow 2.0 ROM since it makes it extremely easy to install then?

For the sake of smooth and single operation together with the CID unlocking, My idea is the following;

Within the Swiftblade's ROM package just Replace the "Blue_ELFin_V3.0.nbh" ROM file with the Cloudyfa's ROM file named "RUU_signed.nbh" .
Plus, editing the "ruu.bat" file accordingly..

What do you think?
Is there any other files, need replacement too??

Nope, that's how I did it! (Actually, I copied Cloudyfa's image into Swiftblade's package and renamed "RUU_signed.nbh" into "BLue_ELFin_v3.0.nbh") Works like a charm! Oh man, how this ROM really rocks... Kudo's to Cloudyfa!

Cloudyfa, I installed your ROM at home and the WiFi in Comm Manager detected the WiFi net at home, but not the one at the office. Then I flash your ROM again but this time at my office. The net detected was the one at the office, but not the one at home (the WiFi icon keep trying to detect, but nothing happened).

Any idea ?

Edited: Nevermind... was trying to connect to WMWifirouter instead to home network. Changed that, it's working great again.

i just cid unlocked my elf, i dont know if i did it right(anyway i did and i saw everything from pof's description in unlocking the elf, i followed each step) then i pressed enter to quit..but my elf is still connected to the cable and it just sort of made a soft reset, everything is still there(contacts,files,notes,everything) so im wondering if by cid unlock the data is still there? how will i know if i unlocked it right? and my final question is im trying to flash elf(in) shadow 2.0 te to my phone...er how do i do it? i unzipped the file and there is the enterbootloader, errorbattery.fig, errorusb.fig, modelid.fig, rapitool, romupdateutility, ruu_singed.nbh, ruugetinfo, ruuresource.dll. which one to i run? is it the bootloader or the romupdateutility? sorry for having too many questions, i just want to be sure im doing it right, cuz dont wana brick my elf. thanks

:) ...there's nothing wrong with the ROM update utility. Dozens of us have used it successfully. If the file was corrupt, nobody would have been able to flash this ROM! ;)

I have just tried using the reg edit from earlier in this post to turn off threaded SMS and now I can received MMS's.

So my next question is can we separate the SMS and MMS inbox's like on the wizard and have threaded SMS in the SMS inbox and none threaded MMS in the MMS inbox. I like the threaded SMS but like to be able to receive MMSs too. Any help would be great.

My Elf its have a strange problem.Stop working in programs and reset. Its not start only if I make a repeat reset 5 or 6 times. I try elf shadow, blue elves, touch surface , original touch rom and have same problem.This problem its star after i flashed with shadow 2.0 (and i think ELFIN) .Its working great with this rom a few day and after that its start nightmare. What can I do?
PS. Now I have IPL 1.14.0002 and SPL 1.11.0000 Shadow 2.0 for elf and same problem.

Manage to get the MMS to work.
I enable back the threaded SMS, then at the Connections setting -> in MMS setting -> Proxy Settings, I put in the proxy server IP address for type HTTP and WAP with TCP port 80.

Now I am able to receive the MMS and with the threaded SMS turn on.

Fantastic rom, Touch has a new lease of life. I have one problem that I haven't been able to cure though, on my previous rom if I had an unanswered call or received an unread SMS the light on the touch would blink orange instead of the normal green. This was a good indicator for me as I didn't have to switch the screen on to check.

For some reason with this rom it just flashes green all of the time and I can't find where I can change the settings. There is a indicators section in the phones main setting but it only asks you if you want the light to flash, not what colour.
Does anyone have any ideas?

- MSN
- BatteryStatus
- HTC Camera Album (Portrait and using DCIM folder on SD card)
- All situation LED lights (missed calls, SMSs, BT, WiFi)

Please someone correct me if I am wrong, because I don't live in the USA, but I am afraid sprint touch is not an elf, but a Vogue device, with similar looks but different hardware.

Sprint uses CMDA800 and CDMA1900 network instead of GSM...

Vogue has Qualcomm MSM7500 chipset instead of Texas Instruments OMAP 850 found on Elf and they use slightly different CPU's.

Sprint runs on 400 MHz compared to Elf's 200 MHz clock...

It sounds like bricking it if you try to flash this ROM...

i just flashed my elf with shadow2 couple of days ago, now my storage memory free is 45.27mb while my program memory free is 4.61mb... when i installed shadow2 i had around 20mb free for program. all i did was installed s2u2, battery status(overclocked to 208mhz only), fring, tcpmp player. need help...what do i do?

Yes, I noticed the memory leak. But if you use \accessories\Hibernate it will free the leaked memory. It works.
From Settings\System\memory I can see the Program ram free decreasing in some minutes. Using Hibernate it restores ram to the correct amount.
Since a new (fixed) version of this rom, I think we can use in this way.

anyway i did it, after reading previous post, i connected my elf to my pc via active sync then ran the pp4mb then just followed the on screen instructions then did a soft reset. still my free program memory is at 17mb. is this normal?

Is there a copy of the TouchFlo Cube used in this ROM around somewhere? I didn't back mine up and overwrote it... Not realizing they're in a completely different order/layout.

Now they look odd because I had to swap the icon names around from a different set.

EDIT: Nvm, it was some other sets which have them jumbled up. I found a set with the same layout as this so used them instead.

But I had a problem: my sim contacts were being shown in my contacts list. So most of my contacts appeared twice in the list. I found a registry key to hide the sim contacts. But now my contact list seems empty sometimes...

Anyone having the same problem or has another method to hide sim contacts?

I keep running out of memory...thought I'd flashed an 8mb pagepool version or something daft. I can barely use Opera or IE without being told my device is running out of memory.

Am I just used to have 128mb of ram to play with (came back from Kaiser) or have I done something wrong?

I'll get Quickmenu installed and try hibernate...

BTW: I have no apps running. Activesync and Messaging, that's it.

I don´t have any contacts on my SIM, they´re all in my phone, yet sometimes when I open my contact list it seems empty too. If I close an reopen contacts it shows all of them, so I don´t think this is a problem os the registry hack you have used. It seems to be a problem in contacts, maybe the Random Access add in.

thanks a lot, i found a small thread in this forum which helped.The problem was that everytime i went thru all the steps using ELF_USPL....I managed to install canceling the process after the 2nd step.

Hi, I really like this rom, but I'm having a significant problem after the upgrade:

My e-mail notification is not working anymore! The counter is ok, the buble is ok, but NO ligths, NO sound and NO vibration (and yes, the options in "new e-mail message" in sounds&notifcations are checked correctly)! All others notifications are ok (like sms), but I really need the e-mail notification (lights and vibrate), any thoughts?

Well, a few more days along and I've still not ran into a single memory problem at all. Not even once has it ran out and I use my Touch all the time, with a mass amount of "Junk" on it. Maybe when I exit PIE or Opera I sometimes have like 6mb RAM left, but it would go to 16 a few seconds later, hibernate for 2 or 3mb more.

After a soft reset I'm actually getting 23mb RAM, not the 19mb I was on beforehand. I don't know how others are getting problems. :confused:

I am using this rom. Great by the way!!. I only have one problem. I cannot beam through bluetooth. It detects the other device and when the transfer begins It always says failed. Hummm strange...there is no Bluetooth Explorer but if you do "beam file" and then select the target device in the list, it should be ok...

Does it say BEAM failed ???

If it does, then it is becouse the outher device is not set to recive alle beamed files, try look here --->

Settings --> Connections --> Beam --> activate "Receive all incoming beams".

Guys there is nothing to worry about......evn i faced the same problem.....it may give u error in starting .....the reason behind this is the ROM does not use FTP(File Transfer Protocol) to send and receive beam.....which normally all the ROM use.....Just tick the receive all incoming beams....and enable the bluetooth and beam in Comm Manager.....it will work using some other protocol.....its working for me........try soft resetting ur PDA and then try again

i just bought another elf(for my wife), flashed it with shadow2, again thanks to cloudyfa.

for those having trouble with bluetooth file transfer, just tick on bluetooth and beam on your comm manager. i before had the same problem, now its working fine.

yup first i put them on the device and installed perfectly both the CERT SPCS and ENABLERapi... when executing RUU it says the image is corrupted. so i try again POF's SPL CID unlock same problem occurs.

can anyone upload the RUU here? i tried both rapidshare and mediafire downloads but came up with the same error.

Hey, I have just done the same as you, Blue eves to shadow. Ensure after running the *.CAB files that you soft reset your phone!

noticed one problem getting started seem to interfer with htc audio booster ... it just kept making it run, and ,run and run but they were always running a new copy so like i had 12 getting started running it did it with out audio booster so i eventually had to remove boith audio booster and getting started... but i had to get into the windows file on the ppc and delete both of them :( but other than that im satisfyed :)very fast!!!!

ps ....you can free up alot of memory removing alot files using that method also using that method and deleting the programs you dont use will make your phone alot faster and less bloated and laggy...bereda

I have been using this ROM for aobut a week, however I find one problem

after a day or so of using my phone, sending of SMS becomes extremely laggy when typing (i use HTC Keypad)

a soft reset fixes this but it is kinda annoying

anyone know what the problem is ?

I have been facing the same problem with the ROM I'm using (Lights). I'm using Touchpal. I face the same exact symptoms and it is really damn annoying. I'm starting to think it is WM6.1 threaded SMS.

I'm going to disable it now and see what happens!

after 2 weeks, my problem (phantom message) is still there, but now my message indicator increased from 2 to 3. ive tried to go to regedit then hkey current user-system-state-messages-sms-unread-count....

the value is 3, base decimal. then i changed it to 0

text also indicates sms\mms (3)

so i changed the value to sms\mms (0) then i closed the application. in my today screen my unread messages show zero(0).

BUT when i receive text message it goes back to 3+new message. what am i doing wrong? or right?

but i'm quite tired of the leak of memory
i think that the pagepool is 8 mb.. i've tried the ppchangerAS zip file using activesync on bluetooth, and i was unable to change pagepool: memory usage still the same when i set the pagepool to 4 or 8mb

i think so that this tool don't work for me, does anyone know another tool to change pagepool to 4mb?

after flashing this rom, it worked for a few hours, then it turned off by itself, and now it doesn't boot! after "smart mobility" screen it turns off!!! still, i managed to enter the 3 color screen. should i flash it again? or should i do something else in this situation??

i flashe this rom, and before it stucked in "smart mobility" screen, i noticed that it has only 47 mb of ram. before, with the original rom, i know for sure it had 107 mb, 'cause i checked memory usage many times!!! had anyone else this problem? and how do i deal with it?

Yes you can. It is a program called 'WkTask' which can be disabled.

u can use PIM Backup to backup all ur contacts, messages, appointment, notes etc. but i dont know any software that can backup ur mp3's n photo, i suggest u move them manually from ur device memory to storage memory or pc hard.

jus press restore, but its important that you untick and do not restore system files as this will cause system errors and conflicts. jus replace only all other files like messages, contacts, etc...BUT NOT SYSTEM file

I tried the set up installer and it kept stalling at 0%, I finally got it to reset to original when I pulled the SD card. It then started, but at 3% it said the program was corrupted and shut down. The next time it stalled at 0% and wouldn't reset, I pulled the SD card and the SIM card, but it gave me the same message.

Am I doing something wrong here? I d/led the installer for the elf as I have the p3450 so I'm sure it's the right version.
