All that will go of pagepool?. do I suppose that it will go 8Mb?, it is the bad of these roms that serve for the Elf and Elfin that they take 8Mb of pagepool and it is not possible to change and that we have the Elf we are less of ram and 4Mb less memory is great.

Only MAJOR problem is active sync & USB connection. Cant get my Touch to communicate with my PC. Suspect the active sync under vista is causing the problem, or a missing driver or....my PC just does not recognize my Touch anymore.
Ofcourse I rebooted both, ofcourse I have swiched off the advanced connection etc. etc.
This is the 1st time I can't get it working and I have already tried 10+ other roms without problems

anyone else having problems with PIE on this ROM? for some reason mine just sits there forever saying "Connecting" when I try to go to any webpage (even with the wifi on) and won't close unless I manually terminate it.

1. Not many people use OneNote, so that i don't include it in the ROM
2. Bc of 8Mb PagePool, you'll have around 20-22Mb when starting up

You can't bc it's the default SMS feature of WM 6.1 :( If you don't like it, you should use a 3rd party soft which control the SMS or use ShadoW 1.1 instead :(

Ive got no leakage at all. Mine has been soft reset once since i installed at about 10:30 last night. Ive installed resco explorer, resco keyboard, pocket plus 4, spb diary, spb gprs monitor, and opera. It has been on all night charging, and i have 78 MB of ram, and this is after it has been sitting there 7 hours, and ive gone on ebay using PIE.
Im obviously using an elfin lol..
My onlu qualm is that it goes quite slow, and the start menu is very weird, no calendar or messaging, etc buttons on it, only today and the recently used progs. Wont take long to reconfig it though :)
Hope you can sort out the leaks for touch, and maybe make the elfin one even better :)

Installed it this morning, set it up - all seems well, very nice, time will tell but no problems so far :-) Memory seems better than the previous rom from you, which I loved but would end up dropping down to 14mb quite quickly, sticking in high teens on this one, with ocasional use of Hibernate to keep it tidy.

The main is that it support Chinese and other Asia Regions. So that you can use CEStar,.... If you intend to use those, you should redownload it :)

@Elfin user: you should run USPL 1st then upgrade this ROM as i don't include the tool (you can take from other Elfin ROM) or run HardSPL of Pof, but instead of flashing the SPL after your screen is white, flash this ROM.

Screen should turn blank/white after 2nd step and activesync icon grey if not. the loading prcedure has failed and you will have to repeat again. and don't continue step 3 if you are using Elfin XL..

But if yours is Elf you shuld run USPL till the 3rd step and after finishing 3rd step device will reboot and then runn RUU and wait to flashing process end.

i have an elf... thanks for the info. the flashing finished 3/3 (press ENTER to run the ROM Update Utility) but the RUU proceeded to flash another ROM (the one that came with pof's tool). How do I flash Shadow's ROM instead? Should I overwrite the 2 folders that came with pof's tool (\LOADER and \RUU) with Shadow's in order to automatically load Shadow's ROM

Good ROM, very stable and considerably fast as well, I haven't used BatteryStatus yet.
Chinese support is also good, I use CE-Star and I also got the Acrobat PDF Pocket readeer 2.0

Great job, just loaded the rom, with the tidbits I borrowed from switchblade's Blue touch v4, on my Elf. Works a charm, except for one little issue, wich also happens on BTv4, where the HTC home plugin is locked in the today menu, I can only activate or disable it, but not change order, and most importantly, I cannod load it inside spb plus4, or any other today plugin capable of loading plugins.
This used to work on the original Portuguese ROM, but not on any cooked rom, wich by the way are way faster and much more interesting than the bloat it comes as.
Is there any way of removing home, so I can install a standalone version on the micriSD card, wich I assume works well as a plugin, or redirect it in the registry as not to load from the Device?

Just found out how to do it myself, but thru another way, Install HTC Home customizer, and it has an unlock option :D. Found it in wisbar forums. Thkx for the swift reply. :D.

With original rom this setup would just lag, now its zippy and fast, hurray.

Might get into cooking myself :D. I already make a great curry...

Uspl first!

It means that you have to CIDunlock your device before it´s posible to flash. But be careful. If you´ve got an Elfin cidunlocking is not the same like when you´ve got the normal touch!

I'm having some trouble installing this. First off I warn you that I just got my Touch yesterday and am having a heck of time trying to figure it out. I've been reading the forums trying to learn all about it. Anyway the loader says that my "ROM is corrupt". Any thoughts? This happened on 2 PCs with 2 different downloads of the ROM. Sorry in advance if I am totally clueless.

17 mb free is plenty. How much do you plan on doing all at the same time?? Try looking at it from the other way (the glass is half-full way ;)) unused memory, is good for nothing... its just... empty. If its used, at least is doing something

If you have a micro SDHC card (like me I have a 4Gb micro SD card) inserted, please remove it before unlock Elf, otherwise you cannot flash any new rom.

However, if you got a micro SD card inserted, it is ok to flash any new rom without any problem.

I'm having some trouble installing this. First off I warn you that I just got my Touch yesterday and am having a heck of time trying to figure it out. I've been reading the forums trying to learn all about it. Anyway the loader says that my "ROM is corrupt". Any thoughts? This happened on 2 PCs with 2 different downloads of the ROM. Sorry in advance if I am totally clueless.

it is important that you follow exactly and once your screen turn white then you run the ROMupdateutility of Shadow.

For those getting the 'corrupted' error and not able to use or figure out the work around for POF's CID Unlocker, try downloading the Blue_EFFin ROM and replacing the "blue" nbh in the RUU folder with the "shadow" one. Change the file names in the two .bat files to their new appropriate "shadow" names and run the start.bat file.

You have to put the fav contacts via the 3D cube interface instead of just put it via the HTC Home today.

I've gotten this ROM installed and absolutely loved it, but then my phone wouldn't boot up anymore. I fixed that problem and am back on the original ROM. Is there anyway around this? I really want to use this ROM.

1. Clock: will stop moving after sometime, the only solution is to reset HTC

2. Bluetooth: once syn up, u dont see the icon when you press phone, resulting whether is my BT connected

3. Random Access: Yes, contact has Random Access, but if u starts your contact on SMSes, by clicking TO:, there is no Random Access, and there is no [A-Z]Toolbar, resulting, i have scroll down.

4. This could be due to SPB Pocket Plus issue. The first icon could not be click, you have to press something to override the Today page, then the first icon can be click

5. Removed the Favourite contact from HTC Plus option, it will not remove on Today screen if your today wallpaper is other option, only using the default Today background will remove the Favourite contact.

6. As this is a cooked ROM, i could not install CE-Star, the error prompted CID, even tries to hack it with no SuperCID, also cannot install CE-Star.

7. Tweak2k2: This could be due to program incompatibility with Netframe 3.5, if u try to clear the recent history using Tweak2k2 option, it will prompt an error message. but you still can use Cleartemp.


Conclusion: The ROM is good and a very thank you to your hardwork. Those minor bugs is not a big issue. Just my findings.

17 mb free is plenty. How much do you plan on doing all at the same time?? Try looking at it from the other way (the glass is half-full way ;)) unused memory, is good for nothing... its just... empty. If its used, at least is doing something

Same here though not a huge problem. Everything is very fast, stable and looks good. Memory is good as well. People complaining about it should not buy a Touch, it's not a high-end device and you know it!

I love the included software, all very useful. I was also looking for One Note but I can live without it or install from a cab. The memory leak is gone as well and I love the new threaded sms.

I was a bit scared at first since this was my first time flashing my phone but all went well and I'm very happy with it. Thanks for your hard work on this!

Yes... flashing this ROM (or any other ROM) will void your warranty! But that didn't stop me. Cloudyfa is a pure genius... superb ROM with all the latest features not available in your local outlet!!

You can flash back an original ROM if you can get hold of one. The only one's I've seen in this forum are for DOPOD, which will work fine. I can't imagine you'll ever want to put an original ROM back on your device though, once you've tried this!

As far as flashing goes, you need to read this forum carefully. Check out the thread for CID unlocking your device with the USPL application. Then you can flash ShadoW 2 TE. This is the 2nd ROM I've flashed of Cloudyfa's and I've had no issues so far. Your heart does go in your throat while you're sat watching the progress bar, but it's well worth it. More memory, faster, sweeeet looking and features that my mates can only dream of! :)

Ok I love this rom, best around so far, really impressive - my only problem is having an original touch I always feel I need more ram (who doesnt!)

I know this rom has the 8mb pagepool and I get that its faster for it, but I would sacrifice a little speed for an extra 2 or 4mb ram that I could gain with a smaller pagepool.

This thread shows there was software to change this but it seems pulled because of compatability problems ...

But for V2.0 I still can't get used with the new SMS viewing style so I decided to flashed back to TE 1.1.I loved the new version of HTC Homeplug so can I have the cab file for this software?

See my above post, #111. Worked for my ELFin. There are a whole lot of other people that seemed to have gotten it working in a couple of other ways (CIDunlocking), but I was having trouble with all of them and tired, so I took the easy way out.

I would guess, if you have an older ELF, you could do the same with the "blue" cooked ROM for that platform, but then again... the methods to CIDunlock the ELF all seem to be successful for more people, as they were written for it. Read the sticky from POF at the top of the sub-forum.

Great ROM, the best is the JBed can let me install Intent Java Manager and still able to reg those .jar files that it cannot compatible with.
Also it has no trouble in letting CE-Star Chinese platform to run.
The speed is very good, I don't even need to OC just use the boosting to 286.
All those little nice features that comes with either WM6.1 or Shadow 2 are so nice, no need to install those little apps like BatteryBar, PSShutXP.

This is not an issue with Cloudyfa's ROM, it's just how HTC made the Album application work. As far as I'm aware, there's nothing you can do about that. You need to keep all your photos and videos in the DCIM folder on your storage card :)

Loaded the ROM and everything is great except one major problem.

I cannot connect to the internet. I set up my internet connection like normal. It appears to connect fine. (get the E symbol like it's connected and it says it's connected), but when I try to sync to server or go to web page, it always says "Waiting for network" or "the page you requested cannot be found." It can sync and connect to web pages fine using usb or wifi.

I've tried soft resets, hard resets and even reflashed to no avail.
Any idea on what's wrong and what to try. I really love this ROM but need internet connection.:(

I'm using this ROM in my ELF for the last 48hs. After a few modifications and customizations (eg.: mute the 'clicks' in menues, new theme), add ons in storage cards (avantgo, htc KB, HTC Home Customizer, Google Maps, Adobe Reader, Advance Config Tool and WMWifirouter), and based in other ROMs I tried (Dual, XTriny, SPC 3.0, etc.) I can say that may be it needs a little tune up (some weird behaviour occured) but it's a MUST to find a solution to memory leakeage. Last night, after a few hours without a soft reset, and just with PIE running, memory was about 3MB, and I kept receiving warning messages every minute. May be change pool size.

Anyway, thanks for a GREAT job Cloudyfa, and for spent your time improving our WM experience.

BTW, I never used Remote Desktop and I will google to find a guide or something, but if anyone knows a link, please let me know.

Guys, Quick Menu is the perfect companion for this ROM. You can find it here (http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-quickmenu-v2-7.html) but probably in XDA too if you search it.

It's a windows cascade-stlye menu, with shortcuts to Hibernate, Favorites, Task Manager and other programs or folders and fully customizable.

You are probably not using the English regional settings do you? This is well known JBed issue. It can be easily avoided if you create a shortcut which will launch the midlet suite directly. Please search forum for more information.

i am using Shadow 2 for three days. it is fast and stable. i have to minor problems. one is time, if i don't use my phone(touch elf) for sometime, the time will stay same. the second problem is mamory leaks...last one does effect phone performance. Is there anyone can help to resolve that problem?

The only problem with this ROM at least for me is the program memory, after 2 days of use the maximum available memory I can get is 8-10mb :eek: using the built in utility Oxios Hibernate.

I must say that I am very pleased with this.

Pro's: Very stable and fast and lightweighted on the extra apps

Con's: After innitial installation HHC didn't work and I was unable to change the properties of some files (the weather XML file). Solved the HHC issue with the installaion of Touch Settings 2.25 (awesome!!), which solved the issue with the weathercities xml file as well.

After that I went onward to install my preferred apps, and noticed that everything went a little smoother and faster than with an other rom I treid (Blue Elfin 5.0) and the original stock T-Mobile rom.

anyway, a big thank you to Claudyfa!!!! You have done a great job!

dude gr8 rom.... only 1 problem.. i have done intensive testing of ur rom n cud find ne flaw.... the problum i face is with the pagepool....im using 64mb touch...n its a bitch to have 4mb less of ram...lolz

nyz mate waiting for ur release with a 4mb pagepoll.....ive tried using other pagepool programs to change it but apparently they didnt work with ur rom....dun know y....

Anyone else not able to get the new zoom feature to work in Explorer. "Zoom Out" in the menu button is never able to be pressed (item is always light colored rather than dark). Even zoom level on the smallest never lets me see the full page.

install the 2 cab files in the order gieven in the notepad.

some users complained bricking of device if we went throught 3rd step.

so ,after second step press CTRL+C.

Device screen will become white with nothing on it. dont worry.

now without disconnecting or reseting touch XL, execute the rom update utility from Cloudyfa.

after it finishes ,It will reboot the device, you will have the Shadow 2.0 Rom installed.

Unfortunately in this great ROM I found out an unpredictable issue. During the connection through Internet (By USB or GPRS) to our Exchange server (e-mail, contacts, etc.) the error appear – “Result: Synchronization could not be completed. Try later. Support code: 0x85010013”. As I know it is appear when the HTTP connection fault. I was trying it continuously, the device to serf the Internet easily but don`t want to synchronize.

Dear Cloudyfa, can you please check the ActiveSync module or settings in the ROM. Because of this error have not appeared in the previous version (ShadoW 1.1 TE).

You can't bc it's the default SMS feature of WM 6.1 :( If you don't like it, you should use a 3rd party soft which control the SMS or use ShadoW 1.1 instead :(

Cloudyfa, i wanted to note that in fact the threaded sms can be disabled using this registry key:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\
SMSAvailable = 0

i didnt try it myself but this is what Tom_codon discovered in the Niki Project.

First, u shld differ between Elf(64 Ram/128 Rom) and Elfin(128Ram/256 Rom).. what is ur device? be careful physically they are the same.
u have it Sim unlocked but no phone is CID unlocked from factory...
CID unlocking lets u flash ANY rom to ur device

If u follow the steps carefully theres no way u can brick ur device... in most cases it can be recovered.

Hello there, this rom is fine very much but since I have commented for that we have the normal touch (64Mb ram) is too much 8Mb of pool. He wanted to ask about a thing, I do not use the cube (touchflo) for what in all the roms I always eliminate the programs: Quickdial, Aplauncher and Mediahubmini, these direct accesses was in the folder \Windows\Startup \, but in this rom they are not there. How can they be eliminated so that they are not executed? Thank you

i have problems with the internet connection. i made all the settings, but when i try to connect, it tries to get connected, but it does not. what can be the problem. and yet i have a problem with battery: it drains very fast, in 5 minutes it drained with 4-5 %

The default PP of Elf ROM is 4Mb already. You can backup it (or forget it :D), then chose which PP you like and run it (6,8,10).

Im on T-Mobile UK with Web N Walk, in the North East if that Matters.

I got a new Touch yesterday - 128mb version and it was fine out of the box so the first thing I do is start flashing ;-) - Ive tried both the main roms, Blue Elves 5 and this, the Shadow 2.

On balance I prefer the Shadow 2.0 TE, very nice and fast etc but....

I get the little roaming triangle up, didnt get it with my old 64mb touch, didnt get it on the Blue Elves Rom either - now i seem to be connecting to T-Mobile, the connection was set up using connection settings. I even went into the phone setting and selected manual choice and T-Mobile UK yet I still get the roaming warning - Even when the Home Plugin states T-Moblile UK

Anyone got any solution to this ?

I tested your rom for a couple of days, great work. The only thing was that the mms function didn't work. ( i couldn't receive mms, i don't know if i could send one)

I could sms normally so the network setup was correct.

What do you think that the problem could be.

one more thing i installed touchpal for SIP... but when i click on the keyboard to activate it only the default keyboard is activated.... some time it works and some times it doesn't... same thing with resco keyboard 5.0... is there a fix available??

Found the simple - brute force - solution, i flashed to the generic dopod touch rom, then back to this one and no sign of the problem - no idea why but it fixed it so why complain :-)

Hello

Had no probs installing rom, but I too suffered from the memory leak.

This morning i found my phone had switched itself off.

When i turned it on the Tmobile screen flashed up for about 10 secs then went off again.

Now I can not get the phone to respond at all.

It's a Tmobile Elfin (i believe) the 128/256 one.

It was a nice rom while it lasted!

Anyhoo any ideas what to do next?

To check whether you have Elf or Elfin (Standard Touch or Touch Enhanced), go to...

Start > Settings > System > Device Information > Hardware

Look at the RAM and FLASH items. If you have standard Touch (Elf), RAM will be 64MB and Flash will be 128MB. If these show 128MB and 256MB respectively, you have Touch Enhanced (Elfin) :)

First of all, thank you Cloudyfa for your work.

Tried v2.0 PP 4MB today and what I can see now:
-Up to 25MB RAM accessible
-Looks great
-It is slower than v1.1 (may be due to the smaller page pool)
-When I press contacts button I cannot see any contacts at all. Have to close it and open again and eventually they appear (very annoying :( )
-Threaded SMS can be really disabled by the registry key (I actually suggest it because it is incredible slow)
