Hi peeps just an update:( My sponsored site from vexamus will be down in a couple days time and also my phone is broken, not sure whats wrong with it just one minute was working and next the phone wont even turned on.
I tried putting in bootloader mode and nothing, seems like a hardware or battery fault as it wont even charge as well.:(
The sponsored site has been really good but we never expect so much downloads and bandwith was going to be used and vexamus tried his best but he cannot maintain all those bandwidths space been use.
So this is my story to tell you.
I was working on v4b with wm6.1 which was almost finished it was a earlier build but was really quick.
I will updated you Guys as soon as I get any good news.:)

I got a rapidshare premium account as well, was looking for a ftp server has it was much easier for everyone. If nothing comes I will use my rapidshare to host files again:)

Hey dutty, love your roms, but do you have any start menu folder icons you could share? I need some because I don't like it being a plain folder. Do you have any?

Dutty, based on the previous traffic encountered, I would suggest splitting up your releases onto different people offering hosting...not that this is a guarantee it will lessen the bandwidth, but at least this way there is a chance it will not exceed. I would also suggest initially putting the first day of your newest releases initially on rapidshare, then a day or two later on private hosting...I think this would also help with the large initial # of downloaders of the roms eating bandwidth. Just my .02

I'm in the hosting business.... i'm sure if we divide up the bandwidth between two or three of us it'll probably be an acceptable amount to donate?
If you give me an indication of current usage i'll say let you know.
Set up some form of file mirroring?
If your lucky i'll give you a slot on our equallogic SAN array. ;)

Why don't we just start a torrent for his ROMs? Then we can all share the hosting.
Can XDA create a tracker?

I third this idea. Or seed them on a public free torrent site and list links to the torrent in these forums. Then no bandwidth concerns.

Would be fin for me since I deal with torrents everyday ;)
BUT
what about all the others who don't even know what a torrent is?!
Can you imagine all the questions (redundant questions) in this forum
But it wouldn't hurt if some of us committed to keeping a torrent alive.
Count me in with 512k UpSpeed

Well if there were links to both a torrent and an FTP site I'd probably grab the torrent first. Hell if it was a torrent versus an FTP site that requires a password or wait or etc (megaupload, rapidshare, etc) I'd DEFINITELY grab the torrent first. Might save some bandwidth on the FTP site.

To put it bluntly: If they can't use BT they don't need to flash their ROM.
Although, you would think that people who can't read sticky's and Wiki's wouldn't flash either.

Dutty man I'm looking forward to something new from you when you get on your feet. You've got my vote! You've set a standard for Kaiser cooks out there and they are really starting to create some great stuff.
Thanks! Looking forward to the future.

Trouble is some of us can't use torrents at all given blocks on connection (UK uni's for example.
Suppose I could set up an encrypted ssh tunnel though ;)

I've been thinking that too - IRC channel to discuss stuff.
Hard to know how many people use the network, though. I use quakenet a fair bit for socialising and linux forums. Many people here use it? What's the concensus on a xda channel? (lol's at me if there's one already :D )
Edit: just joined/started #xda on quakenet... Wonder if anyone will join me :D

Dutty- if you've got the red light of death a lot of people are reviving their devices now. There's no definitive fix, but a quick search will yield a couple of methods used to revive. I was able to bring mine back from the dead, it's definitely worth a try to avoid downtime. Good luck with the web space issue. I think torrents are a good idea, I don't see why there aren't any already created. Maybe use an FTP for us xda-dev members, and the torrents could be for "outsiders", or if the server is down or something. I'd be willing to donate if you need some help, I'm sure others will as well. Your work is absolutely brilliant. It's imperative that it finds its way back onto the interwebs ASAP. Cheers mate.

I think we need a Wiki for the RLOD. There are a few threads and methods around.

"Bandwidth Limit Exceeded"
Sure you don't want a hand with this?
Whizzer
1st February 2008, 12:46 PM
Hey,
I'm having a machine without bandwidth limitation and a 100mbps connection to the internet... But it seems, looking in this thread, I'm not the only one who can offer space and speed (ok, bandwidth limitation is something else ;) ).
But as suggested somewhere earlier, why not place it over several different machines? In my opinion we can do something similar like google does; make an entry in a dns (for example duttythroy.lives-in.eu) and attach several IP addresses to it. This way the client who will be downloading will randomly choose an IP address to connect to. This way there is only one url, but multiple machines behind it.
Try "nslookup www.google.com" on your machines and you'll see what I mean.
Only thing to take care of is to distribute the files to the "servers" before announcing the new release.
If there is any way I can help in this, let me know!
