Got a quick question. I've been looking around for a new pda. I currently own a Trinity and am wondering if the Polaris is equivalent to a Trinity II? Similar to how there is a TyTN and now there is a TyTN II, except with the name change.

I know the Polaris has streamed from the Artemis i.e. P3300, but specs seems like it can possibly be a the new Trinity? Or is HTC going to release a Trinity II later this year or in the near future?

I'd like some helpful input if possible. Thanks a lot.

The Polaris is an Artemis, Touch Dual hybrid, it's nowhere near the Trinity.
The only thing that connects the two is the Qualcomm GPS chip.

The design is from the Artemis, the screen and chipset is from the Touch Dual (or the Kaiser if you prefer, but both use the same chipsets).

Ture, but if you are a user looking at features and form it is basically an improved Trinity. Nicely improved :)

that and the fact that the alternative name for the Touch Cruise is the P3650.....!

But just look at the thing, it's a touch/p3300 love child all the way!!

Thanks a lot for your input. I guess my end question is because the end user features of the touch cruise is very similar to the trinity, upgraded, does anyone think that the trinity model be phased out? As HTC seems to be quite a smart company, releasing a "Trinity II" would possibly be doubling up and competing with it's own Touch Cruise. Thanks.

I've owned multiple devices (including two Trinity's) as most that post here have. I can't believe the number of devices that are available from the same manufacturers now that sizes are reaching the limits of what is comfotable for users. Given the 2.8" screen standard, there is no reason for anything much smaller than the Touch. A couple mm's shaved here and there maybe.

Maybe with technology HTC will eventualy get to two basic PDA phones - one with keyboard and a slimmer one without. Both will be loaded with the same features as technology improves. LG is packing more features in a smaller phone than the Touch.

Some how I'm not convinced that, the Trinity has anything to do whith the Polaris. Yeah I know, the number... Trinity being P3600 and Polaris being P3650, but I ask what features and design elements make the Polaris Trinity II.
As far as I can see there's no Jogwheel, no Infraport, the design elements are from the Artemis and the Touch, and the chipset is from the Kaiser... so?

Between the the Hermes and the Kaiser are common elements, in design, and in features also. And HTC introduced the Kaiser as TyTN II. But I ask again, whithout the numbers, what makes the Polaris the Trinity II?

i think what he's fishing for is if since hermes and kaiser kinda look alike and aramis and polaris kinda look alike if
there will be a trinityLooking device later
or if that market segment is where polaris is

suppose he pref the look of trinity and will wait if a device comes out which look more like that

Thanks a lot for your input. Thanks for telling me that there is no infraport. I don't use it, but it's good to know before I make a purchase. I'm not trying to argue that the Touch Cruise = Trinity II. I'm just looking for a new pda phone that is as close to the Trinity P3600 as possible, except better:-) I'm sick of my Trinity. It seems to me that the closest there is in the market is the Touch Cruise. I know the Trinity and the Touch Cruise are entirely different phones. Another Question. Is the Qualcomm 400Mhz processor on the Touch Cruise faster than the Samsung 400Mhz processor? The Samsung processor has it's own problems. Any significant problems with the Qualcomm processor that I should be aware?

Thanks again for your help.

Qualcomm got an issue with the htc driver not using the ati onchip video stuff so the cpu dont do multimedia as fart as it could same thing with kaiser there are alot of thread about it

how big a problem it is i guess depend on if one play video clips in higher res's then the screen and display to avoid the bother of transforming them to 320_240 first

I don't think anyone is suggesting that the Polaris is actually related to the Trinity - as pointed out, it's predecessor is the Artemis.

Check this out if you are looking for a comparison.

Polaris is indeed Trinity, but not Trinity II, it's Trinity 0.5! Don't buy it yet. I have both phones. I was sick of my Trinity like you and wanted something new and bought Polaris. Yes it looks "sexier" but it made me realize how great my Trinity is! Now I'm back to Trinity and the Polaris is back in its box until HTC releases patches that make this phone better than Trinity.

Jeez, I tried to play a tinny little 320 x 240 video and it couldn't handle it!

I have a Trinity running the latest "Fixin it over" ROM which is working great. Also have a Polaris on order from Mobileplanet. I starting to wonder if the Polaris is a bit over rated in comparison. Anyone else have both with an opinion?
