View Full Version : UPDATED - Audiopara.csv for 3.XX ROM, now with cab install

THIS IS FOR THE 3.XX GPS ROMS ONLY.

SEE UPDATE BELOW

This will not work with the older 2.XX ROMs, the files are different between the ROMs and using the wrong one may make your phone SILENT.

This file is designed to increase the volume of the phone. It increases the ear piece speaker, speakerphone speaker, and headphone/handsfree speaker levels.

The ear piece and speakerphone speakers start at the factory Sprint level for low, but get louder in greater steps. The loudest was near the edge of distortion when I called my voicemail.

The headphone/handsfree level has been increased by about 15%, no where near as much as the first 2, but its headphones, so I'm not jacking it up that much.



To install....

1. Download audiopara.csv.txt
2. Rename to audiopara.csv (meaning you get rid of the .txt part)
3. Backup audiopara.csv from your Windows directory of your phone.
4. Copy into the Windows directory of your phone, overwriting the original.
5. Soft reset. Yes you need to soft reset.



Disclaimer : I am not responsible if you break your phone or go deaf. This is not a hard thing to do, read the directions twice. Also be careful when using initially as the volume is louder than it was when you got the phone.

Anyone may feel free to use this file in a custom ROM or whatever, jsut put my name in there, if you would. :D

Thanks to mswlogo for figuring out how to do this in the older ROMs.

UPDATE: NOW WITH CAB FILE
I've also added the original since people arent backing up.


Here's the new and improved way to install. This zip file has my original .csv file in it AND now comes with a .cab file for easy install, without overwriting and copying and such.

Instructions are the same for the csv file.

Instructions for the cab are fairly simple.

1. Copy cab to phone.
2. Run cab, install to Device.
3. When done, soft reset.
4. Enjoy loudness.

Enjoy.

the only downside i can think of would be that your speaker will only last 5 years instead of 6, and thats only if you run the things at full blast ALLLLLL day long, and even then, I stopped at what my phone was playing distorted, and distortion is what kills speakers, not just loudness.

This file has been modded and used in the past, and no problems ever arose. It's the first thing I do when I reflash a ROM.

that was easy. I do notice a difference too on this rom. ON the past roms, I diddn't notice much of a difference.

I didn't have the old hack (moderate-fix-low-volume-issues-audiopara.csv_coarse_ear_extended_speaker.txt) installed very long before the 3.16 update came out, but with this new one, it seems louder. With the old hack, I still had to put the volume at max and strain slightly to hear. With this one, I have the volume at the notch below max and is plenty loud. In fact, I can hold the phone away from my ear and still hear fine. Nice work! :D:D

Cuddo's man, I did the rom upgrade and had no sound at all. I was running the previous coarse tweaked audiopara and it sure didn't work with the new Rom. I wonder what else does not work. Now if I can just get rid of the one unresolved item under activesync notes I'd be happy.....

lets see...

1. Its one less icon floating around (no big deal for most people I suppose).
2. I've been told its louder than no2chem's loudest setting.
3. no2chem's kets you adjust parts of the file that dont actually do anything, and I found that one of them will crash your phone if you even try to adjust it, WinCE_Sys I think it was.

He does good work. I made this one awhile ago and most that use it like that it is apparently the loudest one out there (while keeping the same low volume setting), and that its a one time thing, with no program to mess with.

anyone here use this on a Verizon phone? If so what ROM are you using. I've been helping someone with a Verizon phone that installed this and lost all sound.

Thanks Scruffdog, I'll OEM the CAB to give people the option of this file or the unmodified audiopara in my kitchen. nueAudio is already a choice but if the settings are just right, how often would one need No2Chem's app?

its almost too loud if anything.. For normal listening I have it on the lowest...

that sucks, I was under the impression that it was 'per radio' not 'per OS'.

I downloaded your kitchen and took out the WM6.0 audiopara.csv. It's the exact same thing as mine, except for the volume bumps I did. All the rest of the settings a the same.

Can you describe the problem you were having a little more maybe? Did my file make things louder before the lock-up, or could you even get far enough to tell?

Did my file make things louder before the lock-up, or could you even get far enough to tell?That's odd. yes things do get loudr but, each time I included one fo the custom audiopara files into the ROM, SPB PhoneSuite would not longer alter the phone's sound device and I would get ramdom lock-ups. When reverting back to the stock file everything became fine.

I tried that with multiple builds while only changing that file with the same results each time. I know that it's confusing, but maybe the OS doesn't like the volume settings made so high?

Using nueAudio to change the headset and earcuple settings don't cause this problem. Sorry, today I don't the chance to send you the working nueAudio altered file to compare its maximum volume settings.

havent found anything on ringtone volume yet. Havent had a chance to look around as much as I want to, work is all boned up, but I'm not giving up yet.

Will installing this keep my speaker from popping intermittently? I have even noticed it popping when my phone is on vibrate. :confused:

the only noises I hear are when the speaker clicks right before a ringtone goes up, i assume from turning on the speaker, but I've had that since the phone was stock. You can only hear it if the room is fairly quiet.

do you have any non-stock software installed? Could be something waking up the phone and the phone making that pooping sound if the sound driver wakes up. Might also be local interference. Does it do it everywhere or just at certain places?

I just tried on mine and it didnt seem to change the file. Left mine in there. I'll look into doing something that can get back the original. I'll need a day or 2.

dcd's audiopara does have a volume bump in it, but last I've checked it was only for one of the speakers, and it was not as loud as mine. I'll get ahold of a stock audiopara file tonight and put up a cab for it.

so it would be accurate to say that if i install this Audiopara.csv posted in the first link after a fresh install of DCD 3.0.1 I will get louder volume from both speakers and bluetooth? or it will be the same or less from stock DCD 3.0.1?

no, the bluetooth will not be louder. I havent figured that one out yet. However, everything else will be much louder.

Recently bought Verizon XV6800. Downloaded the hack, unzipped it, even copied it and the .cab and the .csv to a (different) folder on the mobile device. But I can't copy over the old audiopara.csv because it is "read-only". I can't seem to find a way to "unlock" it. I can't use the .cab file even tho I can get it into the correct folder because it's a zip file, I guess. I double click it, but just get a window of its properties.

Recently bought Verizon XV6800. Downloaded the hack, unzipped it, even copied it and the .cab and the .csv to a (different) folder on the mobile device. 2 things for you to think about...

1. If you just got the phone and its un-modified, then you would need a different audiopara file. You need to check your ROM version under Device Information. If its 2.0...something then you need an older audiopara file. If its 3.xx whatever then you can use mine.

2. You dont copy the zip to the phone, you open the zip on your computer, extract the cab file from it, then copy the cab file to your phone. From your phone you open the cab file and it installs the file for you. However, make sure you check your ROM version first, because if you have the wrong ROM for the audiopara file, then you'll loose all sound upon installing this.

all I can tell you is that is dcd's kitchen its in a folder called OEMDrivers, i think.

There is the problem I am REALLY hoping there will be a fix for. I am about 95% on the BT and 4% on a wired headset and the remainder is on the handset speaker.

This is the method to adjust the volume of Bluetooth Headsets:

1. Install TotalCommander (if not allready done)
2. look in the registry which audiofile your device is actually using
-> \\\registry\HKLM\Drivers\BuildIn\WaveDev\
-> doubleclick "AcousticFile" and read the string and write it to a paper
3. change to the directory which you find in the string
-> usually \windows and copy the file from the HTC device to your Desktop PC

4. Make a backup of that file (so you have a copy if something goes wrong)

5. If your Excel can open it via doubleclick and you see the file in various colums go to step 6
If Excel opens it and eveything is in the first column (German Excel), then you have temporary (!) to change the field-separator for Excel, so that it reads and exports comma seprated files (otherwise it uses a semicolon)
-> close Excel
-> System(steuerung): Region and Languageoptions
-> change language for numberformat to "english"
-> Start Excel (look in Options "international" if there is a check box to use the numberformat from system language options)
-> Doubleclick the file and it will be opened in excel. When you save it later: use csv Format. Then Excel will use a comma as field seprator and not ";"

6. Doubleclick the file. It opens EXCEL and you see a table
In my version of the table I found 3 blocks with different headlines.
In the first column they you find the value "Header". Look at the last block. Here I found:

So, interesting for bluetooth volume which is transmitted from the HTC device and received by you bluetooth device is the parameter: rxVolume

Normally the first data row is: (Here I have marked the columm rxVolume with XXXX for you)

Now replace the value XXXX you find in your file with a higher Value.
Try 8000 9000 A000 B000 C000 E000 F000 or FFFF (for maximum)

This is an experimental way to have to try and test which value is good for you.

You can also replace the Word "Default" by the name of your device.
For that test replace one of the names your find in the second column with the exact name of your device which you find in then bluetooth settings (displayed after the coupling of the devices)
As experiment I added serveal lines mydevice_VOL1 mydevice_VOL2 etc to change the volume without booting the device. (For that change the name in the bluetooth setup to one you have used in that table)

For experiment: Maybe the parameter rxAgcEnableFlag also helps to get a better value. But I have not finished my test, so I hope others will find out which parameter should be used.

So notice:
When booting (reset) the device looks which file is to be loaded.
There may be several files on you device, but only one is used.
When I connects a bluetooth headset it looks in the table, if it finds the exact name of that device. Then it uses that line.
If not, it uses the line with "Default" in then second column .

6. Save it to your desktop PC.

7. Close Excel and if necessary restore the language setting for Excel in the windows language options to german.

8. Connect your HTC device and open then windows dir.

9. copy the audio file to the HTC device and replace the orginal file.

10 Reset the HTC device.

11. Connect the bluetooth device and test if the volume is good for you.

If ist is still too low or too loud change the value in rxVolume. For that I can not upload a file which will help all users.
You have to figure out it for your device.

In this forum there are some hints to change the BT channel. This will not increase the volume. Other people replaced the audiofile by try and error. Some had success. Maybe the name of their device was not found in the original audio file. So replacing the audiofile with a file which contained the name of their BT device helped some people but not all.


I did not find out, if it is possible to change the volume within a phone call, by using the HTC device volume adjust control at the left side of the phone.
HTC has used serveal lines with different volume settings
B6 PHONE_HANDSFREE_VOL0 0 0 0
B7 PHONE_HANDSFREE_VOL1 0 0 1
B8 PHONE_HANDSFREE_VOL2 0 0 2
B9 PHONE_HANDSFREE_VOL3 0 0 3
B10 PHONE_HANDSFREE_VOL4 0 0 4
B11 PHONE_HANDSFREE_VOL5 0 0 5

It corresponds to the 6 levels of volume control. But I dont't know if it can be used it via BT as well. I tested this but I had no success.

Maybe somone will find a switch for that.

If it is too loud, then try lower values 5000 is silent 6000 louder .... 9000 A000 B000 ... FFFF (maximum). These are hexadecimal values. 0123456789ABCDEF

Copy the line and add it at the end of the file. Edit the first Column with the next number (if the last line has E12 in the first column then use E13)
Edit the name of your device by adding a character at the end of the name
Example
E3 BTHS1 0 0 0 4000 4000 0 4000 A000 422
E4 BTHS2 0 0 0 4000 4000 0 4000 FFFF 422

If you change the name in the bluetooth settings from BTHS1 to BTHS2 (here user your device name with a number) you can set different constant values.

At the moment I showed how to adjust the BT volume level to a constant level.
Yes, there is still the open point. I have not figured out, if it is possible to use the volume control of the phone during the call. I asked the HTC support, if the volume of the original HTC headset can be controlled by the phone. The lady at the hotline told me that the headset volume only could be changed at in the file with VOL_1 VOL2 ... etc. I guess there must be a switch somewhere else in the registry to use the phones volume control.

Does someone own a BT headset which can be controlled by the volume regultor of the phone? If yes, we would have a chance to find that switch.

Doubleclick on AcousticFile.
On my sytem the string is: \Windows\AudioPara4-TMO-EU_V5.csv.
This information is taken by the operating system to find out which one of the AudioPara....csv should be used. So I had to copy the file : AudioPara3-TMO-EU_V5.csv to my desktop PC and to modify this file.
Note: This information will be read only during the system boot. So if you change the value or replace the file, it takes effect after the next reboot.

Sorry, maybe your device uses a different path.
Did you search this forum for audiopara? I took the path from older posts on this forum.
Can you search the registry for Audiopara*.CSV?

If you find a path where to find it on your device post it in this forum.

Or just look within the path \Windows\ if you find some files which name begins with audiopara. Just take one of them, (I guess this will be the youngest one) manupulate it and replace it on your device. Then reboot and check, if it takes effekt.

Maybe if there is only one audiopara file on your device it is not necessary to specify it in the registry. So if the system does not find this registry key it will look in \windows and use Audiopara.CSV.

Why did you rename it as cab? Don't use extensions with functionality, just for fun. Maybe someone else would download it to a device and wonder why it reports an error text when double clicking on it. This file is text file so if you don't want to use csv, then better use "txt".

You have to look at your headsets' name within that file. If it is not included the phone will take a default value, which is too low.
So which device do you use?
Look at settings -> connections (don't know the exact expressions on your device, I have a german HTC device T-Mobile VARIO III (HTC TYTN II)
Here double click the bluetooth icon. and doubleclick the BT device name.
Please write this name in your next response so, so I can put it in the file for you.
But maybe there is an easier workaround for you:
Change the name in that dialog box to "PHONE_BTHEADSET".
Press "save". This will take effect without reboot. (I fond this name in your file. It already has the maximum output. But this information is not generally. It depends on the specific audiofiles which are configured in the providers brandings for the phones. So it is better to understand how this works and change it manually.

If this works for you, please try the name PHONE_HEADSET_IMIC
Please report, if you can use the volume regulator with this name.

On my Sprint Mogul with DCD 3.2.5 and 3.42.50 radio, I have not noticed any volume increase on the speakerphone during a call or playing music through Audio Manager. I got the impression that there would be significant difference, but I have noticed none. Could it be that my phone is already maxed out on volume from the get-go?

When on speakerphone, I still have to put it at the max volume to make it mildly useful. Although I still have to put it close to my ear if there's any ambient noise at all.

What is your BT devices' name (Bluetooth settings)? I had sucess with putting the correct name within the audiofile and setting rxvolume to FFFF.

My phone just kept rebooting after putting your modified version of my .CSV file,it rebooted itself after the HTC splash screen,I performed a hard reset of my device,it booted up fine until i loaded the modified .CSV file again.Do you know what will be the issue?Thanks.

Sorry for the problems you have. But after sync your data should be recovered.

It looks like your system does not like a header line, which I inserted in the last post. I depends on the Operating System Version. Mine has headlines within this file and can handle this.
Now I just added one line with the name of your phone. Lets test it...

The colums in YOUR version are:
1) G0: 0 ist for the first entry , if you have more devices then use G1 then G2 etc
2) 8XXPlantronic: Name of the BT device (look at BT settings)
3) 5: Volume level: Seems that the phone always uses level 5 and does not use the regulator or other (lower values)
4) 4000 codecTxGain : Level of the Phones' microphone
5) 4000 codecRxGain : Level of the Phones' speaker
6) 0 codecSTGain : Don't know
7) 4000 txVolume : Volume of the BT Headset Microphone (try here Valus 7000)
8) FFFF: rxVolume: BT Volume FFFF is already the maximum value
9) FFFF: rxAgcEnableFlag: Agc normaly is Automatic gain control. This means lower values are regulated louder and extreme lodud values will be regulated to a more silent level. But I have not tested it on my device so that I can say what to do if you want it more louder.

So try to manipulate codeRxGain and AgcEnableFlag. I have the same probelm with my device. In rooms I get an acceptable level like hering someone else speaking in front of me. But in car it is still not loud enough.
Mabe someone else will find more options.

I am glad to hear that you had success. The reason of the frustrating thing here is that many people uploaded their modified file, but none explained how the system handles these file and settings. I have mailed HTC to send me the documentation.
So now I have found out:
You have to put the original name of your BT device in that file and modify rxVolume to get a higher value.
Here the people have to find out which audiofile the deveice uses and look inside it which format is used.
If you find headlines use them to find the correct column.
If there are no headlines, don't put them into the file.
But look at other audiofiles in this forum, which contain headlines. Take them and put them temporay in your file and look if they could fit. After finding the information you need remove then headline.
If your find alread BT Headset names in your file simply replace one name with your BT Headset name and try if the settings fit for your BT headset.

i tried both the audiopara and the old audio para and phone speaker has no sound earpice was loud but no ringers what so ever ... any ideas where i went wrong.

only way i got ringer back was to go in windows folder and remove audiopara folder

hello tried this on my sprint vogue it bumped the audio up greatly
however it turned my ringer to long vibrate only no ringers play just vibrate :confused:
also i notice there diff filesizes from the original audiopara here and my original audiopara for my vogue
ive attached my vogue audiopara if this can be fixed to work it would be great 1st post here love the forums :)

I have the newest official Sprint ROM with 6.1. The cab file silenced my phone. I tried taking the "original" and it still doesn't work. Help?


EDIT: I finally got BillTech's to work and set my phone back to normal. But anyway, this "upgrade" does not work for people with the Vogue/Touch and the newest Sprint ROM.

just my 2c not trying to be a dick :-|

u need to uncheck hide system files in your folder options view tab to see it locally on your computer

on the phones end copy file to a temp area then use phone to copy/paste/overwrite file to /windows folder

I just installed this on my XV6800 and hardly notice any difference at all. I did let the phone soft reset like it wanted. Nothing really happened after that. It's a tad louder...but only by a tiny margin. Did I do something wrong? The rest of you seem to have had great luck with this file.....anyone have any tips or advice? Thanks...

I have install it and did the soft reset. But no luck, the sound from the phone is just getting very soft and this is hardly to hear the sound... Just a question, why the audiopara is not working in all the phone?

This will not work with the older 2.XX ROMs, the files are different between the ROMs and using the wrong one may make your phone SILENT.

This file is designed to increase the volume of the phone. It increases the ear piece speaker, speakerphone speaker, and headphone/handsfree speaker levels.

The ear piece and speakerphone speakers start at the factory Sprint level for low, but get louder in greater steps. The loudest was near the edge of distortion when I called my voicemail.

The headphone/handsfree level has been increased by about 15%, no where near as much as the first 2, but its headphones, so I'm not jacking it up that much.



To install....

1. Download audiopara.csv.txt
2. Rename to audiopara.csv (meaning you get rid of the .txt part)
3. Backup audiopara.csv from your Windows directory of your phone.
4. Copy into the Windows directory of your phone, overwriting the original.
5. Soft reset. Yes you need to soft reset.



Disclaimer : I am not responsible if you break your phone or go deaf. This is not a hard thing to do, read the directions twice. Also be careful when using initially as the volume is louder than it was when you got the phone.

Anyone may feel free to use this file in a custom ROM or whatever, jsut put my name in there, if you would. :D

Does anyone have the audiopara file that is in DCD's 4.1.2 rom or preferably a much louder one(like the coarse extended version)? I tried this one and like a newb forgot to backup the previous one. I finally got the phone setup the way I like and would hate to have to hard-reset it.

I had used the audiopara from here and then no sound at all, then found one for the 2x that ~sorta~ works. There is basic sound, but the ringer volume is all over the place. It rings high, then low, then scratchy all on the same ring.

Heck, I'd even take a guide that describes what values go where and I'd edit the file myself.

Any help would be appreciated. Thx.

i tried this and my god the in call volume boost is like an early christmas present. I love it. but not that it really matters that much for me, but the volume from the speaker on the back (I'm using the Vogue btw) is gone. I mean you can hear it if you put it right beside your ear, but it's very very faint. With the headphones in, the sound works great, as well as in call, but the back speaker volume is kinda shy?

I've been reading through post for the past few days. I'm having a little problem if someone can point me in the right direction.

I'm using the ppc6800 with ROM V. 2.17.557 and radio V. 1.64.00 w/ browser 6.0.

My volume for listening and speacker are extreamly low. I contacted HTC and they said their is no upgrade ROM for my "legacy model" Which I just purchased new at a cell phone store. So if I'm not able to upgrade my ROM how do I get my volume up?

Was wondering if Scrufdog or someone might be able to help me out. I've silenced my Mogul 6800. Entirely my fault, but can't figure out what I did wrong or how to correct.

Checked ROM per above before installing audiopara - have stock Sprint ROM 3.56 Radio 3.42. Downloaded cab to phone, and installed.

Not sure what I might have done wrong, but now no audio. Anyone have any tips on how I can correct or fix?

Only program that gives me a tip as to what might be wrong is SJPhone, when trying to open gives following error.
"No input audio devices are found. Please check that your audio devices are present and/or connected, turned on and their drivers are installed."

2 things for you to think about...

1. If you just got the phone and its un-modified, then you would need a different audiopara file. You need to check your ROM version under Device Information. If its 2.0...something then you need an older audiopara file. If its 3.xx whatever then you can use mine.

2. You dont copy the zip to the phone, you open the zip on your computer, extract the cab file from it, then copy the cab file to your phone. From your phone you open the cab file and it installs the file for you. However, make sure you check your ROM version first, because if you have the wrong ROM for the audiopara file, then you'll loose all sound upon installing this.

I just bought a Touch2 (Mega) ... see attachment.

Does it mean my ROM is 1.xx ?? Can I still use your audiopara CAB file Scrufdog? And if things go wrong, can I use the original audiopara CAB posted by you to restore the settings?
