Hey everyone, came through here because i saw new rom is out but i see there is little reaction to it. the rom is in wwe. if u have hardspl installed u can go back to the original roms as long as it is available on xda.

this rom though has been tested fully and because of all the aditions and cabs out there would make u keep it after flashing it. a 20 key version will come at a later time.

dont be scared to try it. it wont bite. i with other helped tom design graphics and make this rom as good as possible. it is aku 1.1 buid that i know none of u have and has absolute latest apps and lots of good tweaks. Nice job tom! enjoy the rom everyone!

If you have trouble installing [ERROR 202 - Connection failed], try extracting the nbh and the CustomRUU.exe from the install package and running the exe directly, I had to do this before it would flash.

If u has Hard-SPL already,u can Flash my rom.It not difficult at all and not have SPL,that mean your phone never brick if update Hard-spl before update my rom.

After successful flash, I have a problem with connection to my Exchange server through ActiveSync. First I thought, that problem is in my connection setup, but isn't. IE and other net applications work great exept ActiveSync.

HI,

This is for 16 Key version, but work in 20 also, like in my case, but you will lose xt9 portuguese.
ExtRom is where the operators/devellopers normalily put their one aplications and settings, wich will instal autonaticaly after a Hard Reset or a upgrade. This ROM don´t have ExtendedROM.

If you upgrade to this ROM you will lose I9 acess for TMN, and MobileTV, because this aplications are in the Portuguese version of the EXtendedROM, and the Portuguese ROM that TOM posted don´t have the Extended, for that, even you return after this to PT ROM you will never get again i9 acess and MobileTV.

To flash is only "copy sspl-1.16-nike.exe to your device and run it (usb cable must be connected!)" and after that flash the hardspl-1.16-nike.nbh by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe , but you must read carefull the Thread, here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1777082&postcount=1

Make sure you habe WinRar, then rightclick the file you downloaded and extract the files to a folder or somewhere. Then there is two icons in the folder, run the one to the left:P then it works! For me that is:P

I can gladly confirm that the hardware keyboard on my Touch Dual is working just fine with tom_codon's ROM. I am not using XT9 but apart from that everything seems fine.

The ROM is brilliant and the phone performs so much faster.

Go to Rom setting and select "Enable xt9"
Reset device.

I do agree but the original rom made a sound when I sent an SMS and I was just use to it, thats all, I was just wondering why it was different in this rom. Its not a major issue.

In the registry send message notification has been disabled.

So if you enable it (I believe you can do it through Advanced Config.) and soft reset it should appear in sound notifications?

Nothing, this is merely a softwarebutton. You're niki hasn't got wifi (officially) and gps is also not available at the moment (search the forum)

yesterday evening i made the ROM upgrade installing the kool results of Tom Codon work.

Everything's running fine but i'm experiencing a strange behaviour with the Call History option from the Phone app: i'm not able to exit from it using the End Key, as I used to do before the upgrade.
If i try to press the End Key (while i'm in the Call History view) the screen becomes slightly "corrupted" (blank white parts) and the app remains in foreground; i've found a workaround going back to the keypad view and then pressing the End Key. In this case the Phone apps goes correctly to background and i see again the Today Screen.
Otherwise, to exit from the Call History view i have to push the OK button in the upper right corner... but it's less practical, i'd prefer to use the End Key.

Is anyone experiencing the same?

Yes brother.In my Rom not including PocketCM software.If u want use it.Just extract file PocketCM to windows folder and selecter it in RomSetting tool :)

Sms notification is disabled by default... enable it using the andvanced configuration tool (under messaging)

Have been using this ROM for a day now, and can't find any issue with it yet (SMS xT9 etc, works as they did in the original shipment rom).

Its faster (this could be due to a clean install) and seems more responsive (could be psychological :)

Dear Tom,
I 've tried to upgrade to your Rom with my notebook pc (Vista) last night.
I did the procedure carefully as follows,
- download the attached files...........OK
- REMOVE SIM and SD CARDS !!.........OK
- connect usb cable...........................OK
- copy sspl-1.16-nike.exe to your device and run it (usb cable must be connected!)....OK
- after a few seconds "USB" appears on the display..............OK
- unplug and replug the usb cable...................OK

Then, before I flash HardSPL, Windows tried to search the driver but cannot find.
So, I disconnected Niki and hard reset. After initial setting, I connect USB cable with my notebook. But Message shown up "USB Divice Not Recognized". and cannot connect to Windows Mobile Center as usaual.

I though it 's because of Windows Vista. So ,this morning I tried with my office PC (XP) when connect usb, the same message again "USB Divice Not Recognized"

How can I do now? Please advise.

Although, now I can restore my data back from Sprite Backup and can use as usual but it cannot be Syncronized with my PC anymore. :(

Edit : Sorry , after I tried Hard Reset and went to Troubleshooting of windows, now I can use ActiveSync.
Then, I tried to Upgrade ROM again. But when I went through

After I tried it again and again several time , I alredy pass the process of HardSPL.
Now I will try UPGRADE ROM.

I tried both through ActiveSynce Conneted and run sspl first then run TOM_Niki-Project_WM6.1_WWE_16keys_signed_Ship.exe. Both gave me "Connection Error 202"

Even hard reset , it came back to this screen again....

Oh!!! now worry about it to be a brick..

And the 2nd issue I have is upon every other sync either via usb/BT Activesync/WMDC seems to forget partnership with my device:( I have to re-do the whole partnership process!! I know Activesync has always been a nightmare but this is ridiculous it's a shame I really like this ROM but am afraid I'm reverting to my previous ROM until you release v2!

I get similar issues on the roms i have built for herald. And I have seen other chefs getting theese too.

But I would not worry, cause this rom is made by the numero uno guy, and there is not much mr.Tom can't fix :)

have no issue with bootup. Probably because of the startup items. Try HR and not installing pocketplus.

As for syncing, no issues again so far. Have synced about half a dozen times, all via bluetooth.

1. This is a bug. A fix for the BT problem, goes to 'Settings/Bluetooth/FTP' check the enable file sharing. Then you can receive via BT as well.

2. No issue for MMS. Works fine here

3. This has been discussed so many times. Goes to 'HKLM\Software\OEM\MASD' and delete the 'QuickDial' String. Then refresh your today screen. You'll then be able to access the Favorite People.

Thanks! But the first issue was easily resolved by deleting the culpret apps from start up and yes I did do a HR, the issue was still present.

My real bugbear was the activsync issue couldn't fathom as to how activsync forgets the partnership I know BT sync is not always 100% but even over USB!! bizzare:-/

Activesync is important to me as I sync a lot of emails so it needs to be consistant hence for this issue alone I have gone back to my previous ROM and my activesync works fine now, ah well I'll wait for tom to release v2:)

Have had my niki for 4 hours and have had this rom on it for 3 hours.

Its pretty awesome and from what i can work out the only minor bugs it has are 6.1 related.

Looking forward to you next releases when a better 6.1 appears. :D

I have the exact same problem here. As a workaround, I have stopped using call history as I can achieve similar functionality from the phone dialer. it shows me my most recent dialed/missed/received calls at the top of the contact list. Now I just get the dialer when I open the keypad or press the Send Key and I can close it qiuckly with the End Key too! :)

if you want to try this then turn off the option 'Press SEND to open Call History' via phone->options->advanced. and I also turned off the 'Keypad QuickTasks' from settings as I don't really like it.

Hi all - could you please confirm, that nobody had any problem with ActiveSync with Exchange? Does anybody us it?


I also have Problems with ActiveSync and Exchange.

Under my Vista PC, ActiveSync can't connect every time. (Cable Connection)
Device is recognized, Device center starts "connecting".
After a few seconds Mobile Device Center says "not connected",
but on the Device i see the connected Arrows in the taksbar.
Device isn't present in the explorer when this happens.

If I get it working after a few tries, ActiveSync still ends in an Error,
because it can't connect to Exchange.
Internet is present on PC.

Syncing of local information (my documents, wallet...) works fine.
But sometimes Activesyc is getting completely disconneted again while sync.



Today I tried at work with XP.
I have no usb-cable available here, so i tried over BT.
Connection seem to be no problem.
Have to do a closer look at home if it will be working also over BT with Vista.

Unlike Mobile Device Center, Actiove Sync gives an Error Code for the Error with Exchange: 85020006

I also tried another Harderset, but the problem still exists.

After my problems @home with vista and working connection with my XP @work,
it tried AS with VM-Ware XP at home (running VM-Ware under vista)

While WMDV still has problems, VMware and XP runs fine.

Seems like this rom has some problems with vista.

And go to bootloader try flash original rom T-mobile again.

Hi i have a problem,

I follow instructions to the letter, during flasing (either hardspl or uspl) the progress bar, takes less than 3 seconds to get to 100% rather than the 10mins advised, and then the pc says it is completed and the Niki resets.

It still comes up with the orange start screen and, asks for me to calibrate screen and set time.

Is this right ! ?

I then try and install the Rom from "Niki Project ROM V1" and I have no Idea how to do that so am probably doing it wrong, but if I try and launch the prog from the Niki it says "no" basically, and if I try and launch from PC a black box comes up and has a random blinking white line jumping around it.

Flashed on an Italian "TIM" branded 20keys Niki....

Works like a charm... tomorrow I'll test the connectivity and the BT...

Just a doubt:

I've seen that the parameters in HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\[Resuming] [Suspend] [Unattended]\{98C5250D****\Default are all configured to "4"...

I've posted a thread about those and many of us confirmed that with "3" we get more battery life...

I'll test it and I'll tell you if with "4" and your rom I will have the same battery life than my original rom with "3" in those parameters... (maybe there is something wrong with the TIM Rom...)

Ok my friend..!

The first i think u need update Hard-SPL for your device.
And for sure u have Hard-SPL already,please go to Bootloader to check it.
Copy my Attachments files and copy to your device.Run it.It will go to your bootloader.
If u see Bootloader page 4 color and in Red Sector show :

NIKI100
SPL-1.16.Hard
CPLD-4

That mean u have Hard-SPL already and can update my rom normal

What do people think of the threaded SMS? I notice the notifications no longer display a photo of the sender - tried to switch back to the old style SMS (via HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings SMSAvailable=0) , but that disables the notifications completely.

I have a problem installing the hardspl..when I run the spl file everything goes fine..it means that I see the screen with 3 colours and the usb...but then when I unplug the phone and replug it it does not sync anymore and therefore I cannot install the hardspl...someone can help me out?

That disables threaded SMS, but unfortunately it also disables SMS notifications! I haven't been able to find a fix for this yet.

Does anyone have the original HTC ringtones (I believe they were packaged in the past few WWE HTC roms)? I should have copied the ring tones, but was too excited to flash the awesome ROM. Or is there a way to browse Sprite Backup .pbf files to look for ringtones in my last backup?

I ve finally installed on my Niki Tom's Rom and I like it a lot. the only problem that I have is that I cannot sync th weather anymore using the USB cable..if I use 3g it works but if I use the USB it says attempting to download data and then unable to retrieve data..

if you have installed the hard spl. donwload tom's rom. unpack it opening the exe file with win rar extract the two files where you want and then start the exe file with your phone connected to the usb cable.

If you have trouble installing [ERROR 202 - Connection failed], try extracting the nbh and the CustomRUU.exe from the install package and running the exe directly, I had to do this before it would flash.
I tried running the exe directly, and it worked just until the progress bar appeared. Then still in 0% I received an error message saying: ERROR [262]: UPDATE ERROR.
I tried the recovery, and my phone restarted normally, but every time I try the update again I get the same error.
What should I do?

I'm going to flash Tom's ROM sometime in the next few days and given that this is my first time flashing, I'm wondering if you guys can answer a few questions for me:

1. USPL or Hard-SPL - which is better? Should I do one or both?
2. If I use Sprite backup to back everything up prior to flashing, will I be able to restore it on the new ROM or will I need to reconfigure everything?
3. My phone doesn't stay connected to Windows Mobile Device Center very well. What happens if it disconnects during the flash? Will my phone be bricked?
4. How long (in general) does the flashing process usually take??

Yea, ActiveSync (or Windows Mobile Device Center on Vista) doesn't stay connected. I often have to try 5-10 times before it actually connects. After that, if I'm copying over a cab file or running an exe to install something on the phone, it'll disconnect after it is copied instead of staying connected. It's really weird. I've only seen it with this particular phone.

So, I'm nervous that when I get half way through flashing it'll disconnect and I won't be able to restore my phone. It was expensive so I want to be careful.

Have you checked the usb cable is firmly in both ends (:) have to check)? Try copying a large file over (40mb+) - if the connection is actually cutting out then the transfer will fail. WMDC can be tetchy sometimes.

I would recommend hardspl, less hassle and once it is installed you have the peace of mind knowing you can recover from almost all issues.

I don't think it's my USB cable. In fact, this phone does not stay connected on my personal laptop OR my work laptop. My home machine has Vista and work has XP. It's really irritating.

I've even searched the forum to get insight on the issue but none of the stuff I've tried has worked.

Yes, I have two different cables (one for work and one for home) and I get the same symptom with both. In fact, the one I have at work was used for my Cingulare 2125 and I never had and issue with keeping a connection with that phone.

You 've got the same problem with my niki. When I want to sync the data with PC. I have to hold the USB Cable into the phone until it finish. or, sometimes can put the phone to lay on a cup with USB connection on the top and let the phone stay still. If the phone moves, it will be disconnected. But it can be charged without problems.

I did the ROM upgrade and faced a lot of trial and error , you can see on my previous post.
But finally , it's done. and Tom's ROM is goooooood...

I think you can try holding and pushing the usb cable in your phone while connecting and see whether it's still disconnected or not. If no, I think it's will be same as mine.

USB Cable is not an issue but the USB connector on the phone!!!!!

The connection Problem was mentioned a whole time on the last pages.

It only affects this Rom.
With my O2 Rom there is no problem like that.

It also seem to fail only the AS/Mobile Device Center connection.
The phone also still says its connected to a pc.

So i don't think it will cause errors while flashing, because you are in bootloader
then and not connected with ActiveSync.

But now with 2 more guys mentioned this bug we should be already 5-7 peops in this thread.
Let's hope Tom find and correct this for next ROM.

Hi, I tried different roms but only Toms ROM showed up with this connetion problem. I figured out, I had this Problem only, when the Niki has a password protection (you need sometimes with Exchange Active Synq). It seems, the computer can not save this Password. Usually at the first sync Active Sync ask you, do you want to store this password for further connections or something like that. With Toms ROM this question will not showed. Perhaps it can help to find the bug ...

BTW Sorry about my bad english ... If you find mistakes, you may keep them (;-)

i don't see the remote mobile network device on my machine. does this only apply to XP or is it vista, too?? i can't connect anymore and really want to flash Tom's ROM on my niki.

I'm still having real problems with active sync (wmdc) connecting irregularly.

I have also noticded that my device and charger cable get exceptionally warm when left to charge for a few hours.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Do i need to flash HardSPL everytime i want to upgrade my ROM? I have tried HardSPL before when i flashed the HTCAsia_WWE...

Hi Tom, I need to send to Customer Service my Niki because I didn't solve the camera problem. In order to have not problems with warranty I have tried to restore the original configuration of it.
When I restart my Niki, after few seconds, it shows off red message with the roms installed inside:

R 1.58.16.27
G 25.61.39.03H
D 1iki Pro

How can I change last line "D 1iki Pro" with the original line?

You only need to flash HardSPL once it's permanant!
