Release 0.92.5 of iTask:
-------------------------------------------
Please don't get upset if I change something on each release, or that it is hard to modify. I know all this, and it is in everyones interest to make iTask work smoothly in every way, before making a good settingsprogram. If not, the settingsprogram would need changes every time I modified something in iTask, and that would slow down the whole development progress.

This is a development-in- progress app. This means you can use the beta, before the final release, and I get some feedback on bugs. Thankfully some in the community has taken a keen interest in sharing feedback, and therefor iTask Betas are still coming pretty often.

I know it's hard for some people to edit the input.txt and I hope someone with programming knowledge will be up for the task of creating a settingsprogram for iTask when I come to 1.0. I do not know much programming, only Flash.

-You need to install Flash lite 2.1 player
-Itask.zip is the old version. itask_0_92.zip is the next and itask_0_92_5.zip is the newest.
-WHEN YOU OPEN iTask for the first time, or after a soft reset, or if unread sms or contactlist is not working, run SERVER.EXE.
Server.exe runs invicible in the background.

A GOOD TIP FOR EDITING: If you have a copy of the itask-folder on your computer, you can use flash player in Windows to play it there as well, for quick reference when you add images or text. Instead of dpad button, press enter

-Added some variables to new background images, so you can for example change the background of the Minical or contacts
-Made contactapp a bit prettier, and you can now click on phone to make a call, or email to email a contact (if you have email for that contact).

-Rewritten from flash 7 to Flash lite (Painstaking!)

-New news reader (looks the same, but all new because of flash lite limitations on the old one.) It's faster, you can add as many feeds as you want. Use right/left hardbutton to change feeds. Also added browser link for reading the whole article.

-New calendar (because the old one didn't work in flash lite)
-Rewrote parts of weather. (because the old one didn't work in flash lite)
-New drawing app. Much smoother, more functions.
-New timer. (because the old one didn't work in flash lite)
-New snake game
-New bubblebreaker game
-New solitaire! (this took an awful long time to make)
-Added 4 search functions to write
-Added urls.txt: rss feeds addresses should be put here
-New loadani.exe: Screenshot app. Takes screenshots of all your apps and saves them as the appropriate loadani. Start the exe and see what I mean.
-Many small fixes

To do (in the near future)
- Your ideas (not to complex, please)

MODIFYING:

-Input.txt is where you do all text/execute modification.
All buttonimages are adressed in this file by numbers from 1-X, from the top left to the bottom right. Same with text, executelinks etc.

-Buttons should be 40x40 pixels.
Background images: 240x320 pixels.

-All jpg files MUST be NON-PROGRESSIVE. Keep the file sizes low.

Edit: this is really nice! it is from my first tests very stable, not found any bugs at all yet.
maybe now you could try and make the frame rate per second higher, so that the animations would go smoother,
i am no programmer and i dont know if thats possible with mortscript..

1) Still didn't check all options, but as tomazez stated, a better frame rate would be great. It's not as smooth as Pointui or other UI replacements.
2) I don't know what's the need for the page that opens after clicking on a program's button (the one we should replace with a jpg pic) I'd prefer getting immediately to the program/settings page.

Its a very nice looking interfece, but i agree that it needs a larger frame rate, so the animation is smoother. Starts instantly though. This is where your modification comes into play.

The image that comes before you launch calculator is to be replaced by you, with a screenshot of your program. If people will begin to share screenshots and icons, this will be a lot easier for all of us :)

Most links are defaulted to calculator, but in the input.txt file you can change the links to whatever you want.

Provided that we all get the video driver needed by all HTC products using the MSM7200 chipset, do you think that this will improve on the speed with some DirectX code thrown in? I'm no Windows Mobile developer (yet) but I'd love to help with this wonderful project (even if it's MortScript modifications or beta testing!)

Yes it's a known bug. It's annoying me, cause it's still in fullscreen although the bar is over.

I've temporarily fixed it so if you open a program directly from iTask this will not happen, and the second remedy is to tap an empty space on the screen and press to middled-pad button when you are at the itask-mainscreen.

I hope someone will come up with a bright idea, maybe in mortscript, cause right now I'm stuck with it.

I have everthing installed, I moved the .exe to the device directory now... same screen no icons just sprintpcs logo battery meter and digtial click in the middle of the screen...

Are you sure. It's the code in the input.txt file. NOXX-something for for norwegian places. Check yahoo weather for codes. Remember to restart itask. this is crucial. click the battery icon for shutdown, and start it again

Also found a bug... you cant have flash 7 and flash lite 2.1 installed at the same time (for freestyl) becasue when you open itask it gives you a white screen of death...

Found a solution so every program execute can be written in the input.txt file.
-You can now even write .lnk files into input.txt
-And even SPACE! (space will be written as %20)
-No more editing of mortscript (even though we still need mortscript)
-Less mortscript files = less size.

All edit will now be from input.txt.

Ok that is a problem. It's mortscript pressing "enter" button. Are you sure you have installed the latest mortscript? 4.1?

1. Animation has gone slower for you because I've made loadingtime shorter for the different parts of the program to get it snappier. It's probably your processor. :(

2.If your device is connected to the pc it wont show. I'm going to see what I can do to fix that.

.. the app runs alot better than i thought it would as a first release. very nice.

.. its very smooth and responsive.

.. im excited about the bext versions.

a few concerns:

.. itask seems to easy to "get around". alot of times when iclose a window the homepage comes up and i have to reopen itask.

.. no landscape kinda stinks but hey u said u wouldnt have it so its no biggie then.

.. its hard to understand the initial set up if your not a ppc techie.

.. maybe make the icons a bi bigger to make it more finger friendly??

I have not had a chance to play around with the Input.txt, but it doesn't seem to complicated. However, you might see me asking the dumbest questions at any given time (just warning you :) )

I really hope that Flash isn't the cause for this slow-down. For becoming a really useful program, it has to become snappier, like PointUI is, and I'm not that sure Flash is the right format for this :( Still, I'm quite confident rhov23 will do his best to improve it :)

I found a few things like that the weather icon updated itself realtime, so that has been set so it updates only when the Main scene is loaded. I will also try to make most of the internal apps external so they are not loaded all the time. This will probably not do so much to the processing part, but it affects memory.

I doubt/know that it will never be as snappy as PointUI (it was a bummer to see how smooth it was :( )

The only thing I noticed is that when You start iTask for the first time after upgrading, it put the phone in Flightmode. Next time You start it no change in Comm.Manager.

hello in the first version 5,5 and first 0.89 the itask launch good in vga device all off the screen but since i have update with test 6 is limited in 320X24 the itask take only the center of the screen .

Yes it's possible. I'm actually in the middle of make a new one that will probably have all colors, thickness, alpha(seethrough) ++
The only problem is that the compiler program (the program that makes flash to exe) takes 400kb alone + the flash

1. Buttons are not locked yet. I will see if I find a way :)
2. Not possible now (at least) to change links to internal apps (like the screenlock). If you have some other ideas to what would be possible to add to the screenlock, let me know!

Just four problems for me on Artemis
1) the camera is very strange and no button to close (black area in the right corner !!!!)
2) when a phone call is finished the Menu bar from windows is at the top , the itask is not redisplayed (same if I press the button for Notes)
3) when I use the touch flo on the clock it displays a sreen only with the background : Is it normal ?
4) the weather is displayed only if connection is OK , Is it possible to display the last dowload ? and is it pssible to have colour on this screen like the demo ?

Is it possible to have appointments (like in PointUi) ? (via touchflo)
Is it possible to have a customizer ? (lol I dream )

That was my whole point! To edit a text file on your computer is much easier than going about 100 textvariables on a ppc. Good to hear that someone agrees :)

I have a bug with ActivSync/iTask. ActivSync could not synchronize with my Touch Cruise (Polaris), I'm oblige to shut down iTask.

This is an usolved issue. As a temporary fix you can press your middle dpad button when you are in main menu, then it goes fullscreen again :)

1. Yes. Not made a charging animation yet. It will come later.

one thing which works is to lock (slide from right to left) and then unlock (slide from left to right)

You cannot make transparent jpgs. Small one works yes. Have you deleted all the xxloadpicxx.jpg in your itaskpics folder? there are about 60 pics of that kind i think.

There is no magic here. To replace a picture just copy over it with another (with the same name of course)

It's not finished as it says when you click send or copy. The goal is to be able to write text to notes, word, sms, copy, directly to txt file, and to other applications inside iTask, like "Remember to not put your head into boiling water" comes up as a timed notification inside iTask. Still not sure what i will be able to make though.

iTask 0.9 is out. Still alot of work to do as always. This time I've had some fun with adding some new little applications. Hope you all like the change.

The itask.exe has gotten a bit smaller, more external files, so that the memory use is lower because it loads only what it needs.

Wifi: I'm not sure if this is the same on all devices. It requires that my program edits the registry, and I don't want to mess up your device. When I learn more about how it works, and if it works the same on all devices, I'll make a on off button for all things.
Puzzle. Click new to randomize.
Credits? Lol. (sry) Credits are just credits. not a game.

mainexec12 fix is coming today :)
-I can read/write registry files with flash already, so reading them is not any problem, I just have to make an appointment app that can show it :)
-I would think that 46-slots + 10 settings would be plenty. Does anyone really have the use to open more than 56 applications on your device? well anyway I'll think about it.

Used all day to learn how to use cookies in flash, to save weather locally, so now I can use cookies on games as well so the highscores will be saved. Yes!
