View Full Version : Vibrate setting on WM6, can it be hacked to work like WM5 again?

I own a Cingular 8525 which had WM5 when I first got it then later upgraded to WM6 and both WM5 and WM6 have 3 differet default profiles which are Sound/Vibrate and Vibrate Only and OFF.

The Vibrate Only profile on WM5 was one long vibrate which I liked because I could feel it in my heavy coat pocket.

But on WM6 they changed the Vibrate Only profile to a quick few short vibrate and I would always miss it because it barely can be felt in a coat pocket or even in a loose pants pocket.

I know it had to be a registery change since it was one long vibrate pulse in WM5 and it was changed in WM6 but I have search high and low in hope to restore the Vibrate Only back to one long pulse vibrate like it was in WM5.

I am already aware of the phone setting where you can change vibrate from short or long but that setting only effect on the Sound/Vibrate profile and does not do anything in the Vibrate Only profile.

I will be greatly appreicated if anyone here can help me out and see if there a way to restore the Vibrate Only to one long vibrate again because I am deaf and I keep missing too many emails and data and IM messages so they are sort of important to me.

I also know I can leave it on Sound/Vibrate profile and go to phone setting selecting long vibrate but I keep forgetting about it and being deaf when I go to movie or some events where cell phone ringing is not welcome .. well you get the picture .. deaf man in a movie and everyone's head turns staring at him with a "let get a rope and hang him" looks.

Thank you
Bill

I wanted to add that I have looked in the registery like HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\ but didn't find anything in there to change the Vibrate Only characteristics.

Anyone know where in the registery if any there a place to change the characteristics of the Vibrate only?

I would also like to change the characteristics of email notification and set it to wake the device when I have new email incoming like it does on SMS incoming. Is there a registery to edit that as well too?

Thank you
Bill
