Just got my HTC Touch from Bell Mobility.
Can't stand the Bell 'blue' theme and logo.
Heard from many friends that this Blue Elves ROM is amazing!!
Gotta get it installed and running...

I've hard reset to factory settings, removed my 2GB card, copied and installed both Cert_SPCS.CAB and EnableRapi.CAB to the device's main memory, ran the batch file...

During step 2/3, my device locks up at 15% and cannot continue the process.
The soft and hard buttons are not responsive.
I have to remove the batter and restart.

Tried it a whopping 12 times.

Do i just give up? Don't want to really. Any thoughts/solution?
Also, how do I bacjup the original ROM?

What you have there is a Bell Canada Touch which is CDMA.
You should be looking for ROMs in the Vogue forum, not the ELF.

if I open the HTC camera album, from the touch cube, it is in portrait mode, but i would prefer it in landscape like it was before. Also, I can't scroll through the thumbnails. Finally, I'd like to be able to go straight to this album with the button in the camera screen.

Open Touch_Settings&change the parameter of the HTC_Album from:
"-mode: picture -type:image"
to
"-mode:camera -type:image"
SoftReset&you're done!
About the camera button...
go /start/settings/personal/buttons
&choose from the program-list HTC Album instead of camera.

I have also had this with the Shadow rom so there are two possibilities as far as I can see.

1. My Touch is particularly touchy(sorry!) and doesnt like being overclocked, tollerances can go both ways I guess.

2. There is something about 6.1 roms, or these two roms in particular, that doesnt like battery status.

I've been using version 0.4.203 build 0246 - I don't know if this is the latest or best build - has anyone had any experience of this ?

On the plus side its not essential to overclock on these roms, but audio manager does occasionally stutter when playing in the background while using opera mini so it would be nice :-)

Im using batterystatus on this rom without any problems. I have my touch set at minimum 143mhz, maximum 260mhz with 299mhz boost. This speed-setup with this rom is fantastic.

Hi Swiftblade, I have HTC touch and your new ROM of it. The Tao's Java Midlet Manager is not comfortable with Opera Mini 4 by me(I tried .1034,1036, it's the same). I can't get it run after install. I consider Install Esmertec Jbed or Jeodek instead(at least works well with Esmertec jeodek).

Which Files in \windows I can delete if I don't want use JMM anymore? thanks! :)

Depends.. does it make a difference if you drive your car at 299km/h instead of 273km/h :D

Seriusly, although there always is the chance of burning the CPU, it is really a remote possibility at 299MHz.. most likely the device will reboot/freeze.
Up to 312MHz it SHOULD be safe. Anything more then that and the risk ups.

Hi steve... how much you can overclock is purely dependent on the impurities of the CPU of the device you possessed. For sure it is not flawed or faulty but just that it is as far as your device can go.:) Cheers.

Hi kokotas... yes the activesync does run during the startup. I think it's something to do with the ceipui.exe or SQM. I will try to remove them in the next ROM update.

I always have memory lack...

The amount of program memory left is largely depedent on what programs you are running. Some programs like CommManager, Batterystatus, HTC Album, etc. appears to retain memory after running. WM 6.1 also seems to run more hidden programs than WM 6.0. You can continue to do housekeeping frequently or go back to Blue Touch ROM v4.0 if the WM 6.1 features are not critical to you.

I don't seems to have that problems. Are you using MP3 file as ringtones? You can also try to step down your overclocking abit and see whether the problems goes away. Excessive overclocking sometimes caused weird and unstable behaviors to the device.:D

3) .xls file can't be directly read with Pocket Excel. You need to convert the files to the Pocket version through an activesync transfer for it to be readable.:) Cheers.

I am very puzzled by people who paid a premium price to HTC for a device that comes with TouchFlo technology so that they can disable or remove it from the ROM. :confused: Isn't it cheaper and easier to buy a generic device without TouchFlo in the 1st place?

GRPS is working perfectly with this ROM. It you are using it for data connection, you need to run the Network Wizard to set it up. Also go to System->Connection->GPRS Settings->Check "PAP Authenication"

I realise one thing as well, if i "light off" the hp and charge it, it kinda hangs (totally cant on it, even wif the power on button or touch screen) after the orange led is on. And if i plug out the usb.. Volia ! back to normal :eek:.

I am currently using the latest activesync but still does not sync the file :( my office is still usign office 95 due to some "stand.alone.software" my office uses. So is there anyway i can manage my .xls file on my hp?

For transferring .xls files, just activesync and copy over the .xls files directly to your Storage directory or Storage\Documents directory using the Windows Explorer. It will auto-convert the files to Pocket Excel version and can be read in your HP. cheers.

Maybe Office 95 files are not recognised by Office Mobile 6.1. To confirm that, I attached a sample .xls file from MS Office 2003 here. Download it to your device and see whether it recognises the file. My ELFin read and open it without any problem. Cheers.

Totally stock V5, no apps, no overclock. V4 worked fine ....methinks I'm gonna have to go back, pity because the ROM is really good. The sound works fine through the headset, just not through the speaker. Just a thought, is there a way to actually disable the speaker somehow? Maybe it was an accidental thing through some freak key combo or something.

As for pagepool change, it is still not possible for this ROM. To allow for pagepool change, I have to use a hybrid OS version but the resultant program memory is not as good as Blue Touch v4.0.:)

Thanks! TouchFLO is very comfortable and I use it of course, but only that 3D Cube is useless for me;) Every function of it I prefer to have on the main screen, so I don't need it doubled.

I fixed it :) with the following procedure:
I made a backup with all my programs. I hard reseted and made a backup of the newly created registry. Then i reinstalled the backup and merged the registry to it. It works fine. Thanks for your reply :)

I think your right, was a bit irritated as previously the limit on clocking has only ever been the software and my nerve :-) which means mid 200's usually, maybe 260.

Thankfully the roms you guys are producing now need much less overclocking than was once needed, would hate to be stuck at 230ish on a std shipped rom, but on yours, or shadows etc its fine :-)

I did manage to port different XIP section to 6.1 OS but i forgot to take over some reg values from boot.rgu and som updated drivers.
Resulting in NO SD card reading and Bluetooth being constantly on ;)

Memory was good.

I can not make it to show the name from the contact list, it only shows the number itself.

Tried to use SMS Delivery Fix by Saman (it used to work on my P3300) but no positive changes here as well.

Maybe Office 95 files are not recognised by Office Mobile 6.1. To confirm that, I attached a sample .xls file from MS Office 2003 here. Download it to your device and see whether it recognises the file. My ELFin read and open it without any problem. Cheers.

Installed this wonderful ROM, but facing the problem with SMS.

I can not make it to show the name from the contact list, it only shows the number itself.

Tried to use SMS Delivery Fix by Saman (it used to work on my P3300) but no positive changes here as well.

i've got a little Problem: Since 4 Days my ELFin can't connect to WiFi Networks. The Networks are visible in WiFi Manager but when i try to connect with one it doesn't work. Just get this Failure: "Can't connect to Network. Please check your Network Settings."
Any solution for this crap?

And just another Question: I've got my ELFin with an T-Mobile Germany "MyFaves" Contract, will the MyFaves Feature (Its a Program on the ELFin i think) work with Blue Elves 5.0?

And the last Question: Has somebody a dumped T-Mobile WM6 Rom? I think going back to an Original Rom could be the Answer to all my Problems. And how can i flash back the old Rom?

Guys, now I know why I haven't got any answer regarding my concern, because probably nobody else had this issue before. 1. The build version of BatteryStatus you are using may be compatible with the beta WM6.1 OS. I am still using Build 243 of the BatteryStatus as I find it most efficient in managing memory leak and it works fine with WM 6.1.

2. Unstability due to overclocking. Many users including myself have encountered connection issues with BT and WLAN when overclocking above certain frequency for the device. Try to reduce the overclocking speed and see whether the problems go away. I want to reiterate that how much you can overclock your device depends largely on the impurities of its CPU. Some may overclock to 312Mhz without any problems while others may find that their device are unstable as low as 247 Mhz. So find out your device stable speed and do not overclock beyond it.

Normal phone services still work despite the msg, is there anything wrong with network wizard?

You have a HTC Vogue with CDMA in your hands and not a HTC ELF (aka Touch). This ROM is for the HTC ELF and ELFin only. To be sure, check your Device Identity to confirm. Go to the Vogue forum instead for your custom ROM.

Great ROM. Works great on my Touch Enhanced.

The only problem I have is the weather updating. It will update through active sync but not using edge. I have not tried wi-fi yet.

Any ideas why it wont sync using my edge connection? My email and internet explorer work fine so it is not my connection.

Setting GPRS to PAP has not helped. I can get the weather when I am connect to my PC or over wifi. It will update connected to the pc and through Wifi but not over edge.I am on Tmobile usa and have the data plan.

It's abit puzzling so here a few questions to understand the situation abit better.

Were you able to use data connection using EDGE i.e. browsing the internet or internet chat?

If you can't, your data connection is not properly set up. Runs Network Wizard and check the proxy server settings.

If you can, I am out of options. Probably can check with your service provider for some answers. Cheers.

I am quite positive that your phone hangs are not related to the ROM. I have no issues with the phone. It is very likely that it is caused by softwares conflicts or overclocking.

Did you use batterystatus to overclock and to what speed? What other softwares or apps have you installed after the ROM upgrade? Did you restore the backups from a previous ROM? Try reviewing these and one of them could be the culprit. Cheers.

To view youtube or video streaming, you need 3rd party software. WMP and Explorer can do the job. Try TCPMP and FlashVideoBundle softwares from the forum which works for me.:)

Did you use batterystatus to overclock and to what speed? What other softwares or apps have you installed after the ROM upgrade? Did you restore the backups from a previous ROM? Try reviewing these and one of them could be the culprit. Cheers.

I didnt overclock but I did restore a PIM backup from my previous ROM (Rom details in my sig). Can you tell me how to remove some apps which are present in your ROM. Can a registry hack remove the unwanted ones?

The softwares I installed were HTC Backup for restoring my PIM and PocketCM keyboard.

It's abit puzzling so here a few questions to understand the situation abit better.

Were you able to use data connection using EDGE i.e. browsing the internet or internet chat?

If you can't, your data connection is not properly set up. Runs Network Wizard and check the proxy server settings.

If you can, I am out of options. Probably can check with your service provider for some answers. Cheers.

Check that there is no Proxy server enabled in your GPRS/EDGE settings - having proxy server chaecked can stop mail/data but still allow web browsing (at least it does on T-Mobile UK)...

Hi, this rom was doing great till today when i decided to flash to the blue rom version 4. it was unsuccessful at step 2/3 ... 75% for several times. used the mtty program at tri-colour bootloader.

device is still powered by blue version5 but a couple of things not working well. msn doesn't show my contacts anymore even when online.
and can't send emails and browser not working via home wifi although it shows connected. but all these works when i'm using someone elses wifi.

could this be due to my activesync having this error message 86000107? please help. thkq

Everythingelse works. Push email, IE etc.. and the weather will udpate over wifi and theough activesync.

There must be a setting somwhere that is incorrect.

Quick update. I tried the Na2 or N2A dll AND replaced the HTCHOME.dll. The weather worked but I could not select any cites. The city I had selected (atlanta) was not even listed, nor were any cities, but I still recevied weather updates aout atlanta. The new dll also only had 3 of the today screen buttons instead of the five in the blue rom.

I switched back to the blue .dll and today screen was back to normal and I could select any city in weather but no update. Or atleast i thought.

When I woke up this am i noticed my weather last updated at 4am. I was a sleep and this was over edge.

Also, I noticed that I can not lower my ring sound. It is at the maximum level. I tap the speaker to bring up the ring level bars but no matter how I change it, the level remains the same. If I go into the phone settings or the sound settings and I play back the ring choice I have selected, it plays at the level I have set by the volume sliders. But then it rings a Max level.

I can back Siwftblade up on Batterystatus.

It's been an old plaque for ELF roms and some others.

If "The author" wrote that it has to do with parsing XML file at start up.

Then don't use BTSatus with home screen plug in enabled.
Disable that row and put it in sys tray with you over clock speed.

This way BTstatus doesn't need to read the Skin XML file to show homescreen plug in.

I've had it many times that it ran without freezes this way and then when enabling Tray launchers or Home Screen plug in, it froze.


But a good tip by Swift, i'm going to test with 243 build (I forgot which one i had)

As for 4MB PP 6.1

I know Syrup made a working version but i haven't had succes porting my own SYS and OEM to it.

So i think Swift is either very close to it or he can change his Base Rom to Syrups.

It is possible it has been proven But it's not the easiest feet.

Also the Rom will propably only run only on ELF.

I don't see why an ELFIN user needs the extra Program memory anyway.

Allready compared to earlier releases of new OS version WM 6.1 has been rolled out extremely quickly here at XDA.

I remember the headaches WM6.0 gave some Cooks.

Compared to that and earlier OS or AKU release, having WM 6.1 this quick on the device is something to be happy about.

Most issues i've seen with WM6.1 4MB for ELF are just to serious to just post a rom.
It's a good thing Swift is taking his time.

Hi alfred... your rom is not indicating the correct program memory because your SPL have been changed to 1.11.xxxx during the Step 3/3 of the USPL process. The 2.20 ROM have problems reading the correct memory from the 1.11 SPL.

To remedy it, you can either try to flash your device to a 2.20 shipped ROM or try the USPL for ELFin by DJVW using a patched 2.20 SPL HERE (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366875). Be warned... use it at your own risk. I have not tried it yet.

Download DJVW's Elfin USPL from HERE (http://rapidshare.com/files/90154956/ELFIN_USPL.rar) and runs USPL.exe through all the Steps 1/3, 2/3 and 3/3. Should work.

I tried another way, re-flash with the original ELFin ROM, then the IPL & SPL will be upgraded to 2.2.0002 & 2.2.0000. Afterwards, flash the Blue Elves 5.0 to the ELFin.

Now it works fine on my ELFin.

There is a bit of a bug in this rom.
When you reset your phone the little windows flag on the start button is not there. You have to click on it first lol.

Review after few days use of Blue Elves Rom 5.0 on Elfin,
- basically it is faster than the WM6.0 with the same hardware.

Problems identified:
- the soft keys are not working (green/red phone keys, navigation keys)
- hang up when using Wireless & Internet Explorer

i'm using a norwegian unbranded touch and it won't upgrade.
also doing everything correct until i get to the second step of the USPL CID unlocker, it goes to 100% percent.

The original HTC Elf 64/128 ROM is 8MB???

Euhm Can you explain how you are making a back up and how you intend to put it back after flashing?

It might explain your errors better.


Tested "Sprite Backup v5.1" using WM6 on XDA and get a warning: file could not be included

Hello,
I know I am not the first one, but I also have problems when using this ROM with WLAN. But my problems are slightly different. When I setup a wlan connection, everything works fine. But when I disconnect, and then reconnect I get this Failure: "Can't connect to Network. Please check your Network Settings.".
At the moment I dismiss this failure, I get a message that a new network is found (the same it told me it couldn't connect to). When I configure this network (with all the same settings as before), it is connecting without a problem.
Additional information: When I am not using GPRS, it looks like everything works OK.
I configured wlan to be a part of my work network, and added also a GPRS connection to my work network, so when there is no internet connection, it automatically uses GPRS. With this configuration, it looks like when there is a pending connection with GPRS while I try to connect with wlan, the wlan connection will fail.
When I disconnect from GPRS, and do a softreset, I can connect using wlan again without a problem

Just discovered that the problem is not new, it was already there in WM6.0, and is already discussed in a M$ forum:

i dont know if anyone else has this problem, but when i set the alarm clock to the time x and it rings at that time it will not stop ringing even if i go to the alarm clock menu and unmark the little box for the alarm... it stops for a short while and then goes on...
i have to do a soft reset for it to stop completely...
do you have any idea what that could be or what i have to do to get the alarm clock back to work normaly?

Wait longer.... it takes a LONG TIME for Step 2 to finish... if you've waited say 20 minutes it should be done, if not just start over. I needed to try mine 2-3 times before I got it right....

I flashed this rom and it is working fine. It has been running for 3 days. My congratulations to Swiftblade and my respect for a wonderful job. I have not experienced any problems at all. Wi-Fi is working, gprs working, menus, programs, BT, etc. working too.

The reason for this problem is that during step 2 the state of the USB bus changes. When you are running Vista, it can be the OS is sending some strings over the USB bus interfering with the strings the uspl is sending.

Wether it goes good or wrong depends on timing. When it goes wrong, you can just soft reset your ELF (or ELVIN), and try again. And again...
Or put XP on your desktop computer and use that.

thanks for the wonderful rom. but i have a lot of memory leak. after installation i have only about 17mb and with in a day or so i have left with only 7mb. now and then i am getting the msg of low memory. please help me. thanks for the help

I have flashed my phone about 4 times, and with all the roms I have had the same problem with the memory. In version 4 a little less, but i have noticed in this one that the memory leak is heavier than the other ones. I don't know if swiftblade can help us with this problem.
The way that I'm dealing with this is doing a reset to the phone every time I notice that the memory is low, but this is annoying, it would be glad that someone could help us with this.

hi swiftblade. calling your rom perfect would be an insult :) it is amazingly beautiful. but i have one request from you. i extensively use the packages which afre removed from this rom by you. can you please tell me (on pm if u like) which kitchen can i use to edit the contents and add these packages within the rom itself? i would want to just dump this rom, delete the below mentioned (in red) and add these as packages in rom and build it back and flash this beauty back on my device

Tested "Sprite Backup v5.1" using WM6 on XDA and get a warning: file could not be included

Xda-developer says that file is data only meant to be written/read by the operating system also

Try deleting or disabling Windows Live service first.

The only important vol for me is PIM.VOL.

I am very confused by your situations. Maybe you can help by giving a clearer picture. Give us a logical sequence of events.

Did you install any software immediately after upgraded to v5.0? When you said works great then no mobile networks?

Have you try a Hard reset? Can you activesync or go to bootloader mode?

Try to install the dopodasia rom and then install blue rom again. Think it will solve your problem, because you have to upgrade your SPL...

:) like i said, i do a lot of playing around installing and uninstalling the apps. so i dont want the touch keypad + symbol pad to b uninstalled even by mistake :( so i'm looking for a way to use swift's amazing rom as a base and just add these two packages and flash back on my phone. the packages that he has used are way beyond amazing and most useful

no but i suppose this is a very useful function as it allows direct searching contact list for SMS recipients ..it is in the dopodasia webby rom..but as i have flashed to elves..it doesnt come with htc keboard and keypad..so i install the cab but still it doesnt have the smart search for recipient function.

I'm fan of your work and I have flashed almost all your roms. In V5 I found that in Settings/System/Memory the the function were you can stop the running programs is not there. I know that this function is in the task manager, but in the Blue v4 I found a problem with the Comm Manager, the task manager didn't see that program was running, but the Memory program did, and it was taking memory away. I have noticed that in V5 the memory leak is a little higher than V4. Is there something that can be done to solve this problem or is this something that I have to live with.

i tried to flash this rom (it was my first flash) i got the htc touch elfin, i bought it yesterday.
at first, the CID unlocker wouldnt work, i soft-reseted and it was ok.
then the rom loader popped up, but my pda screen continued blank.
i did the "repair" thing, which i know now to be a hard reset, and the flashing resumed.
after a little while, one minute tops, the updater froze, and a message came up: image file corrupted or something like that.
after that, my phone wont turn on :(:(:(:(

PLEEEASE HELP ME. i cant have bricked my brand new pda.

Ok somewhere I posted a note asking about the opened programs on the start menu. AND I finally got my new ELFIN :D Was going to wait to do the new ROM so that I could be sure all was working with manufacturer warranty etc.... BUT hey who cares.... I did it anyway... so far so good

Ok my other Elf did this once. Not sure if this will help, but take battery out, put back in, try to do a hard reset. See if the phone responds.

Sometimes it just doesn't take the first time.

I just got a new Elfin and updated to the new 5.0. It didn't take the first time said it was corrupted. Disconnected the decive, closed out Active Sync then reconnected device. Tried again and Volia'

Silly question-- you are unzipping after you downloaded the file. I go to the extracted file and then use the elfuspn and click on it. Seems to work better.

Also, Swiftblade..... that question does apply.
When I open a program it stays on the start menu. On the other elf when you reset it took them off. Not doing that on the eflin. Is there a setting for this... I hate that menu bar..... :eek: Or am I missing something I can't seem to see :cool:

1.Download again the Blue_Elves_ROM_V5.0 (In case the first D/L was a corrupted file) & unzip on desktop.
2.Do a hard reset.
3.After the H/R, turn off the phone & remove the SIM card & the microSD card.
4.Turn on the phone & connect to PC.
5.Transfer Cert_SPCS.cab & EnableRapi.cab to your phone.
6.Run Cert_SPCS.cab FIRST & EnableRapi.cab SECOND (If there's a popup asking you to allow installation, select [YES]).
7.SoftReset your device & restart your PC.
8.Turn off your computer's Anti-Virus software if you can.
9.Connect your phone to the PC & wait until the connection is completed.
AFTER synchronisation is completed, double-click on [START] batch file to begin the integrated ROM Updating Utility.
4.Now follow closely the instructions that appear on the computer screen.
5.Press [ENTER] to accept at each prompt to continue the process.
6.After Step 2/3 of USPL CID Unlocker, the device screen will turns "blank white" & your activesync icon gray (in Windows XP only).
You have successfully CID unlocked your device.
Press [ENTER] to proceed NOW!

***(NB: If you failed to see the "blank white" screen, then your CID unlocking has failed. Stop the process (I think you have to press [Ctrl+C] & then [Y]),
restart your phone & begin the installation process from Step No.8)

7.Your device will now proceed to update your rom. Select & hit [NEXT] at each prompt to continue.
8.When the rom updating is completed at 100%, your device will restart automatically.
FIRST, disconnect the phone from the PC & THEN press [FINISH] & exit.
9.AFTER the first boot, before starting to setup your phone,
DO ANOTHER HARD RESET & that's it! You're done!
10.AFTER the H/R, turn off your phone, insert your SIM & microSD cards in the phone and start your setup!

Hi Swiftblade, thank you for your nice ROM at first.

Sorry I didn't expain the issue clean enough: It happend without overclocking. What have to do is:
1. BS without overclocking installed;
2. disable WLAN;
3.reboot the device;
4.freezed.
At least by me, it is 100% reproducible. After BS author delayed loading of plugin for a fews seconds, it's no problem anymore. But it's not a good solution. The author said he uses WM6.1 too but works great with BS. Sure I just tested the new Build 270. Is it no problem with Build 243?

Oh, after trying for MANY HOURS, just want to tell everyone that Vista 64bits DOES NOT WORK with CID unlock with my Elfin! Vista 32 bits and XP work fine. Vista 64bits can flash roms no problem.

I have a small problem after installing this ROM. My ELFin doesn't want to receive MMS messages. Settings for MMS are the same, that was in original 2.20 ROM.

I've tried to setup ArcSoftMMS v4.2.8.1 but when I choose New->MMS it doesn't start at all.

what should I do to normally receive MMS?

hey swiftblade, just reflash the rom and its pretty neat. like the thread sms style but i do realise that we cant check the date and time of the receieve sms in the older msn recieve. is there anyway to check the time and date of the older sms ??

Read this ONLY if you can enter bootloader (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Elf_Resets)!I think it's going to work...

1st)Download this (http://www.asia.htc.com/download/RUU_Elfin_CHT_OPEN_2.20.753.1B_4.1.13.51_03.07.90_ BLUE_Ship_Reduced.exe) ROM from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=352398).
2nd)Use only the shipped microSD[1Gb] card NOT any microSDHC!

In tricolour mode, does it show USB on the lower left of the screen when you connect it to the PC?

*If yes...
1.Turn off the phone & remove the SIM card & the microSD card.
2.Connect it to the PC via USB and then turn on the phone.
3.Enter bootloader [Again, ONLY IF it can "see" the usb connection continue to the next step].
4.Run the .exe that you've downloaded.
5.Your device will now proceed to update your rom. Hit [NEXT] at each prompt to continue.
6.At the end, if everything went ok, your Touch should reboot and after a while it will ask you to start the setup.
7.Don't lose time setting it up...just let it start!
8.After the booting, do a HARD RESET and try to reflash Swiftblade's ROM!

*If no...
1.Format your microSD[FAT32] card using a card reader, cause you'll need it next.
2.Right click on the .exe that you downloaded and Extract Files.
3.Find the extracted RUU_signed.nbh, rename it to ELF0IMG.nbh and copy it directly to the ("cleaned") storage card[DON'T place it in any folder!!]
4.Insert the card into the phone and enter bootloader.
5.Start flashing by pressing the Power Button.
6.Flashing in this way takes A LOT of time, so you should FULLY CHARGE YOUR PHONE BEFORE THE FLASHING!
7.If everything went ok, your Touch should reboot and after a while it will ask you to start the setup.
8.Don't lose time setting it up...just let it start!
9.After the booting, remove the microSD card, do a HARD RESET and try to reflash Swiftblade's ROM!

to those who got stuck at 3% while flashing rom..first..follow all the procedure until the white screen came on..at this point of time, the activesync icon will turn grey..DO NOT reboot or reset your phone(ignore the grey activesync and white screen)..just proceed when the dialog pops up to conitnue flashing the rom..after verifying your phone information..your current rom version should show nothing..proceed as per normal..it works for me for both V4.0 and v5.0..

I just flashed this ROM to my phone and everything went quickly and easily! It was my first custom ROM so I was definitely a bit nervous, especially after reading about all of the people having issues with freezing at 3%.

Thanks for all the hard work in this ROM swiftblade. I'm loving the threaded SMS and the new Pocket IE features. I'm still exploring everything else in here, but so far it was definitely worth the upgrade.

One question, is there any way to free up some of the program memory? Sometimes when I have a few things running I get low memory warnings that I never got before.

i have upgraded to rom blue elves v5.0 but since i did that i have a problem with the speaker, it seems like broken now (you know it gets flickering voice / music)
i tried to downgrade to official rom but the problem the same.
i was wondering that if something has changed in this rom and if there is a file that i can use to return my speaker to the original volume.

Does anyone else have memory issues on the regular Elf with this ROM? I've got a TON of storage space now, but my program memory is almost full and then after I've got like 3 programs open I get all sorts of dialogs saying that I'm running out of memory. Is there any way to free up some of the program memory and move it over to the storage memory?

Does anyone else have memory issues on the regular Elf with this ROM?

A little bit, but i lose memory slower than with shadow 2.1.

Although i tweaked \windows\applaunchstart.lst to remove the biotouch line, so it gave me an extra 4 / 5 mo extra memory. With this done, i nearly never have the "low memory" alert.

That takes out the touchflo cube I'm guessing right? I like having that so I can get to my most used contacts quickly. I'm just wondering if there isn't a way to uninstall some things out of the program memory, and reinstall them into the storage memory.

1st)Download this (http://www.asia.htc.com/download/RUU_Elfin_CHT_OPEN_2.20.753.1B_4.1.13.51_03.07.90_ BLUE_Ship_Reduced.exe) ROM from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=352398).
2nd)Use only the shipped microSD[1Gb] card NOT any microSDHC!

In tricolour mode, does it show USB on the lower left of the screen when you connect it to the PC?

*If yes...
1.Turn off the phone & remove the SIM card & the microSD card.
2.Connect it to the PC via USB and then turn on the phone.
3.Enter bootloader [Again, ONLY IF it can "see" the usb connection continue to the next step].
4.Run the .exe that you've downloaded.
5.Your device will now proceed to update your rom. Hit [NEXT] at each prompt to continue.
6.At the end, if everything went ok, your Touch should reboot and after a while it will ask you to start the setup.
7.Don't lose time setting it up...just let it start!
8.After the booting, do a HARD RESET and try to reflash Swiftblade's ROM!

*If no...
1.Format your microSD[FAT32] card using a card reader, cause you'll need it next.
2.Right click on the .exe that you downloaded and Extract Files.
3.Find the extracted RUU_signed.nbh, rename it to ELF0IMG.nbh and copy it directly to the ("cleaned") storage card[DON'T place it in any folder!!]
4.Insert the card into the phone and enter bootloader.
5.Start flashing by pressing the Power Button.
6.Flashing in this way takes A LOT of time, so you should FULLY CHARGE YOUR PHONE BEFORE THE FLASHING!
7.If everything went ok, your Touch should reboot and after a while it will ask you to start the setup.
8.Don't lose time setting it up...just let it start!
9.After the booting, remove the microSD card, do a HARD RESET and try to reflash Swiftblade's ROM!

thanks for the reply, i've been looking everywhere for a new original rom.
i've downloaded some, but never got it to actualy work, cause of some "vendor ID" problems.
there's a thread that says i need to use mtty to fix my spl before flashing the original rom, do you know anything about that? i've tried it and the mtty application didn't work on my windows vista.

I think that the ROM that I told you to use will work if you can enter BootLoader!If you're stuck in BootLoader follow the sticky...

Im also having problems with Advance Config, for an example if I go through Advance config>Startup Animation>WAV file, then I select the dropdown menu and selct Browse... an error pops out.

An unexpected error has occured in
AdvanceConfig.exe
Select Quit and then restart this program,
or select Details for more information


when i select details,

When i select quit and restart the program, it doesnt solve the problem, all functions pertaining to browse i have this kind of error.

I've been running this on my white Elfin from the start of februari and it is definitely the most stable, fast and practical rom I've been using so far.

I think the enhanced Touch is just about the best smart Mobile device I had in all the years I've used Windows Mobile devices.

IPL 2. something i forgot.

then i soft reset and everything seems ok ( back to the original interface). I tried the Start.batch file again but now it's stuck at the penguin.

Hello everybody,

really need help here.

let me explain what happen during the flash.

on the 1st Try
I was able to get pass the penguin screen, and it turned white. Then the RUU loader started. But at 3%, i got the image corrupted error. And then my phone went to the Tri Color
with
IPL 2.XXX
SPL 2.21.0000

I soft reset my ElfIN and it went back to the orginal (as if nothing was done).
So I tried the process from the beginning. But when i get to Step 2/3, I get the Penguin screen on my Elfin and i was at step 2/3 ....15%.....50%....75%.
The step2/3 completed and the RUU loader started. But the Penguin was still there and there were no white screen anymore.

I tried couple of time and its still the same.

So how should i proceed to flash this rom?

Currently the version my rom is

2.21.XXXXX

Also how do i know if the CID Unlock worked?

hey swiftblade. I have found the reason which was making my phone to stop functioning. It was PocketCM keyboard which made my phone lag and eventually hang.

So if anyone facing the same problem...maybe you can try uninstalling the app.

I have PocketCM keyboard and so far no problem for me.

When i recieve an MMS, i see the light flash, but i can't see the MMS in my inbox... I don't get any new message notification on screen, and no sound is made... And as I said, the MMS isn't in my inbox... Also, when I send an MMS, I cant see it in sent items...

Sorry guys, if I'm asking a few "stupid" questions (hopefully NOT AGAIN ;) )

I flashed this ROM [Blue_Elves_v5_WM6.1] today without any problems.
Thanks for this wonderful ROM !!! But at the same time I have still a few questions:

1. As you can see I have an "older" Radio-ROM... so I tried to flash a new one. I found [Elf_Radio_03.07.90] here on the board and after connecting my Elf to the USB-Port and waiting to finish ActiveSync I started the "ROMUpdateUtility.exe" from inside the directory. My screen on the Elf went to 3-color and then to white and then showed my (after a short while) 39% ...... 79%....... and then, without doing anything, appeared a message "Error [270]: UPDATE ERROR".
Is this the wrong Radio-ROM for my Elf ? Di I have to start "Cert_SPCS.cab" and "EnableRapi.cab2 before flashing the Radio-ROM or did I something wrong ?

2. Is it possible to change settings for the LG-Plugin or to reduce the height of this plugin ? Or -if not- is it possible to reduce the height of the HTC Home Plugin (5-Icons-bar under the clock) ? Because I "don't want" scrollbars on my screen....

3. Why can't I sync my OneNote Mobile with OneNote 2007 (from my Laptop). I have a lot of "Notebooks" in OneNote 2007 and would be happy to have them also on my Elf. Anyone has an idea ??


I would really bevery happy, if one of you could help me with "my problems".. :o
