You have to Cid unlock the touch before flashing the new radio rom...
So, that means "Cert_SPCS.cab" and "EnableRapi.cab2" and then the RUU ?
Edit: Hehe....leondaphilips had the same problem and got the same info (CID unlock).... i did it right now and bingo *** new Radio ROM flashed successfully ! Thanks a lot !!

Looking for a little help...
I'm trying to upgrade to this rom from the factory original. I've installed the 2 cab files to my device and soft rebooted it.
When I double click the start.bat nothing happens. If I run it through the command prompt I can see that is says:
The system connot find the path specified.
The system cannot find the file specified.
The system cannot find the file specified.
'elf-uspl.exe' is not a recognized as a interanl or external command, operable program or batch file.
Any ideas?????

Download the rom once again and try. Maybe there are files lost or damaged... I´ve never read about such problems by using the start.bat.

...if you have the same HTC Touch (Elf ... P3450) with 64MB RAM, then let it be
You will get error-messages nearly with all programs...your Elf will report:
"Your device is low on memory........" even if only 1 (!!!!!!) Program is running.
So I decided to flash another ROM....:(:(

Thanx for the great & fast ROM. I just realized one thing....i cannot seem to get any MMS. Seems like a bug but is there anyone else facing this problem? I read a couple of post regarding this matter but there don't seem to be a fix.
Anybody care to point me in the right direction? I've gotten all the MMS settings right. The phone wakes up but does not connect & download the MMS at all.
Thanx in advance.

I've tested V5 and V4. V5 is memory demanding and it leaks memory very faster. In fact there is an advice somewhere in this thread regarding this memory problem that says is better to use V4 because of this.
From my personal experience, I can tell you that V4 works better in the 64/128 elfs and the memory leak problem is not that bad than V5.
Good luck.

Contrary the comments under v3.0 and v4.0, There are plenty critics and complaints here.

Hi gentlement,
I had installed V5.0 for sometimes, and found some funny situation.
After running the V5.0 for awhile, and it seem found except the memory leak is quick bad, the memory will down to 10MB in 2 days. But after running for about 3 weeks, all in the sudden the touch is back to US Region setting (Oh!, I am using the Elf in Hong Kong, and after the 1st sync the setting automatically become Hong Kong), and even worst I am unable to open the content in the standard pages of IE, and some of the contents that in most Web Site.
AnyOne had such experienced thanks, and some addition information my computer is running Vista, and my Elf is 64/128Mb.

So basically I just flash this to my phone, and I can carry on using it as a phone (unless I brick it :P)

Yes, you are right.
Your radio firmware remains unaffected by this ROM (or any other ROM available from this site), it stays just as it was before flashing, it is not related to the ROM you have flashed. It will keep on working with any new ROM.
You will have to run a wizard under Settings -> Connections -> Connection Setup after flashing, to reinstall your provider's GPRS and connection settings. Your provider should be on the list. Your phone will work anyway, even if you don't run the wizard, but your GPRS might be unavailable until then (or until you set it up manually).
I have flashed many different ROMs to my device, but I've never changed the radio firmware. It is a separate flash for the people who like to change it. I am still using the one originally provided by the manufacturer because I think the radio works perfectly and I don't see the point in changing it.
Cooked ROMs, on the other hand, really do provide a lot of improvement, especially on 64 MB elf devices. I am grateful to all the cooks around here because my Elf was hardly usable when it came from the shop. It was so irritating slow, especially for someone like me, used to the lightning speed of the Palm OS devices...

Hmmm, I have the old touch (not that old to me though, a few months). And I absolutely love it. Sure it's not overally fast. But the custimization you can do with the windows interface is awesome. I will never ever move away from a Pocket Pc.
I have had a Pocket pc before, It wasnt a phone version, it was a compaq ipaq <Insert number>. I turned it into a brick :( I was only 13 at the time though :P. Anyway I really don't want to brick it because last time, I had a powercut halfway through, but this time I'm using my laptop so it's ok.
What is the revival percentage if I do brick it?

This custom rom is built for installation onto the HTC Touch XL 256/128 (aka Elfin, Touch Enhanced) ONLY.
DO NOT FLASH IT TO ANY OTHER DEVICES! I will not be responsible for any damage to your device.

You won't be able to use some program, because your memory will too low after a few days, but if you won't use a lot of programs, it will work well - at worst you'll have to reboot your elf at least twice a week.
Sorry, i don't know how long we'll have to wait :( I think nobody knows it, lot of members asked it before...
Swiftblade's advice (02.15):
"The 4Mb pagepool for this ROM is ready some days back but I didn't upload it because I am disappointed with its resultant program memory which is not better than Blue Touch v4.0. WM 6.1 appears to be memory hungry...
Frankly, I would advise those ELF users who runs into low memory problems with this ROM to sincerely consider reverting back to V4.0 until I find a way to release those precious memory... Cheers."

27th March 2008, 03:44 AM
Out of curiousity what is pagepool? I wiki'd it and google'd it, nothing came up. Anyway...
Surely you can edit the "pagepool" with a program when the rom is installed. So if i flash it tonight, surely I can change it myself?
Would you reccommend me to upgrade? I am 15yo and I love fiddling with things, and I dont stop texting. I love modifications, and anything that makes the interface more minmilistic, yet cool.
P.S, the current firmware I use, has a memory leak, but I use a program to reclaim the ram.
P.S.S, I have never had more than 18mb of ram, even after a reboot. So surely it still would be better?

If you have Elf 64MB device, this ROM will still work on it, and if you install oxios memory tools and run hibernate from time to time, the memory leak won't be that bad, unless you run some extreme memory hungry applications such as GPS navigation software.
I use TCPMP, some dictionaries, Google maps and such with no problems at all.
People complain about the memory but it is still better then on any factory provided ROM :D
I remember my original ROM used to dive to only 8 MB in a day or so, so this ROM still gives an improvement.
It is also much, much faster and handier than the original.
Pagepool is a sort of cache, reserved memory for keeping some stuff handy and quickly asccessible. Factory ROMs always have 8 Mb.
Switching between the programs and restarting previously closed applications is actually faster if you have more pagepool. It is a trade off between the available memory and speed. I don't mind having 8 Mb pagepool.
Remeber to backup your contacts, call history, SMS messages and such with
PPC PIM backup before you flash, you can easily restore them afterwards.
It is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299705&highlight=PPCPimBackup
I have also been using Shadow 2.1 TE for some time and liked it very much, but it doesn't unlock your device automatically, you need to do it manually first.
This rom by Cloudyfa unlocks your device automatically which makes it handy for the very first flash. After unlocking, you won't have to unlock your device again for any future flash, it will be enough to just run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe.
This is in case you have 64 MB elf.
If your Elf is 128 Mb, it is a different story, please read the sticky topics. :)

Well thanks for the overview :) I didn't backup because I didn't have anything I needed. I store everythign I can on memory stick, because if the phone is to break, I can just pull out the memory card and away I go.
I isntalled it last night, everything went fine, no bricking (WOO) and it works really well :). I have installed the touch keyboard with dictionary, and I have never ever like the T9 prediction on any other phone, but on this its friggin awesome. I text at double the speed now :D
I like the threaded sms, but it's still not as good as the VITO version. So I was wondering if anyone could provide me with registory edits or programs, for the internal sms configuration. Otherwise maybe someone could show me on how to change the default link on the LG menu in the home screen. Because I want to use the VITO as my default sms.
I have much more memory than before, and it's much faster so im very pleased with this rom!
Thanks alot :)

HI Folks and Experts,
Do you agree with him about his comment ???
Meaning,
After CID unlocking once, you will not need to unlock again for future ROM flashes...
Your device will be locked if the ROM locks it.
Generally, all of the factory provided ROMs do lock your device, and if you re-install the original ROM, next time you decide to try a cooked ROM or a factory ROM for another language / another region, you'll have to unlock your device again.
As long as you switch between cooked ROMs, made by Swiftblade, Cloudyfa, PDA-Viet and other great cooks, your device is going to remain permanently unlocked, because none of the cooks (as far as I know) has any intention to lock your ROM.
On the other hand, unlocking your Elf 64 can do no harm and if unsure, you can always unlock it just to be sure. That's why Swiftblade has included the unlocker in his start.bat. It is convenient and doesn't matter.
I am talking about Elf 64 Mb.
I have no knowledge about Elfin 128 Mb!!
It might be different for Elfin.
I own an Elf 64Mb and I have tried many of the Cloudyfa's, Swiftblade's and PDA-VietNam cooked ROMs just by running the ROMUpdateUtility.exe (I always open the Command Prompt window (as known as DOS console), change to the directory where that exe file was unpacked, type "ROMUpdateUtility.exe" on the command prompt and press <Enter>. )

I might be wrong but didn't SiwftBlade include the JumpSPL method,
Which in a way is not an CID unlocker.
It temporarily unlocks it.

Great ROM - fast, stable and some good apps. These would be my suggestions for the next version:
1. Add SIPChange
2. Add HTC Enlarged Start Menu
3. Add HTC End Key (great for quick vib/ring toggle)
4. Add HTC Random Access
5. Change to 6 button on/off comm manager. Why do you need 10 buttons, the Elf doesn't have IR for the "beam" to work?
6. Remove LG Buttons (cab outside of ROM)
7. Remove Getting Started (anyone flashing ROMs doesn't need this.. :D)
8. Remove Managed Programs (maybe I don't get what it does...)
And Most important to me:
9. Lower the in-call ear piece volume setting a little. I can't turn it down low enough. On the OEM ROM I had to turn it up all the way. There must be a middle setting? Or if you can provide me with the reg setting, I can tweak that myself.
Thanks!!

Some great points.
I also have the issue with the in call volume but I'm using Shadow CE. I've noticed that if, while in a call, I toggle the volume all the way up and then back down a few times it starts working and actually lowers the volume. But it only lowers it if I jimmy it a few times.
Could this be a WM6.1 bug and not a particular Rom setting?

There is something i do not understand here.. I downloaded the rom and is the thread name says this is supposed to flashed to elf.. but in the readme of the downloaded rom from this thread it says that it is for Elfin and Touch XL ONLY!
What to do ? I do not want to brick my phone!
EDIT .. I did just take a closer look in the thread.. Sorry it is for Elf.. :)

I have few doubts related to this ROM
1. In heading it is written, ROM is for both Elf and Elfin. But, downloaded files contains 'Instructions..' file, where it is written, It is only for Touch XL (elfin). So, can it be used for ELF?
2. I tried to upload ROM. I finished step 2 of 3. Then it ran ROM update utility provided with it. But, during update process, it is stopping at 3% and showing 'bad image file' error message! What is the reason for this?
(FYI: After step 2 of 3, screen was not completely blank. Symbol of Panguin and some text was written on black screen.)
Sorry, I read other threads later.
Now, ROM has been installed properly on my Touch device.
Bythe way, what is meant by 8MB page pool? and how 4MB page pool is better for 64MB ram device?

Hi,
although this ROM is great i have a little problem. When my elfin is in standby for some time (screen deep dark after pressing power button) the device seems to freeze.
No reaction when pressing power again, no ringing when called, only a softreset helps.
Has anybody else this problem too? Or even better a solution?

It could be very useful in some cases.... I can live with it. You can delete single messages in one thread as well.

Swifblade, I have a 128/256 Touch from Hong Kong being used in UK. I am having a few problems with it, including the network wizard not doing UK, dialing 191 gets emergency operator not vodafone and now often getting crossed lines when I am trying to make calls. Vodafone suggest that this is due to it being a non UK phone. I don't think I'll get much help from vendor, not coz they're bad but because they don't seem to be technical.
Anyway basic question is this. I would like to put a new Rom on the phone, partly to solve above problems, also to make more use of phone/increased memory. Here's the problem........total newbie! I have seen you Rom and fancy trying it, but get a bit confuse once we gat past about 10 pages of links/comments. Can you possible tell me the following (and post direct link if you have them). What steps do I need to do and what software? I assume the basics are:-
1. Back up original factory Rom, incase of problems - software needed.
2. Load new Rom - software and Rom req'd (or would your file be self installing)
3. Sit back and enjoy a fully working phone.
Can you help/advise? Anything will be appreciated.

I came to this site with dreams and hopes, just a few days ago... And I have to say, the instructions included in the file were very easy to follow. I've upgraded my PlayStation Portable to custom firmware though, so that experience may have helped.
I dunno what people suggest about backing up the rom on your phone at the minute (I didn't...), but once you download the file you just open up the Notepad and follow the instructions. Activesync your device, double click on the file called START and follow the on-screen instructions. If it fails, like it did for me (by giving me a white screen with an icon and writing), then just do it again.
Of course you should back up all of your contacts, messages and media first. I totally should have saved my contacts... The ones I now have are a few months out of date, lol.
Edit: Thanks Swiftblade for the great, easy to understand rom!

New Elfin owner here... just got an unlocked Rogers Touch and am using it in the US on AT&T. I immediately flashed the Blue Elves 5 ROM after reading extensively on the forums about how great it is and I am very happy with it and my new phone. Thanks Swiftblade!
I have a couple of questions. It was noted that the following were removed from the Blue Elves 5 ROM:
What's Not Included/Removed:
Ext_ROM (Network Wizard is re-installed into the ROM)
Windows AutoUpdates
Windows Catalog
Touch Keyboard + Keypad (This is to allow liberty of personal choices of Keyboard SIP)
Cyberon Voice Speed Dial 1.2 (Installation cab to be provided for those who needs it)
IA_Zip (Replaced by Pocket RAR)
Symbol Pad (Installation cab available)
Hibernate 1.4 (Installation cab available)
Some ringtones, theme skins (Removed files will be provided in a .zip file)
1. Why was Windows AutoUpdates removed? Is it not compatible since WM6.1 is not yet officially released?
2. I am interested in using voice dial on my Touch. Is there a reason I should not install the Cyberon Voice Speed Dial cab? Where is the instal cab provided as noted above?
Thanks

Hi corgi1!
1.You answered yourself... what usage would AutoUpdates have in a WM version that is so new(&hasn't been officially releashed)?
2.Take Cyberon_Voice_Speed_Dial_1.2_(Fixed).CAB from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=61737&d=1197652015).

You don't need to update your radio to get your GPRS up and running. It is a matter of correct settings and they can be set by the connection wizard. If your provider is not listed in the wizard, the settings can be entered manually and the values can be found on your network providers web site.
This ROM works just fine with your old radio. Alright, you can flash new radio if you really want to, but there is no need to do it. If it worked fine before you flashed this ROM, it will continue to work fine after the flashing because ROM and radio are completely independent and don't affect each other.

I just upgraded to this ROM from the stock Rogers ROM. I have a small problem with Battery Status.
With my stock ROM and Battery Status, I was able to see wifi networks in the area (using the WiFi Networks row). Since I have upgraded to this rom, it only displays a few rows like so:
---
---
---
On my old rom, I'd get this for a couple of seconds before it refreshed and showed me the wifi networks. With this rom, I've waited a couple of minutes and... nothing...
Is there a something missing or removed from this rom that is stopping this from working? Also, I just downloaded the new nightly build of BS Adv a few minutes ago, no change.
Thanks in advance...

Hi Folks,
I flashed my Elfin with Blue ElFin ROM v3.0 some months ago.
It is perfect ROM. I have not had any trouble at all.
Now, time came up to reflash with this ROM v5.0.
As I hear some time ago in this forum that When CID unlocked once, It is not necessary to repeat the same procedure again.
Is it valid the same for this ROM too?
or a different way of asking,
Previous CID unlock is useful for flashing new ROM ??

So, took a leap of faith, and after a few failed attempts I appear to have this new rom on my machine. At present it doesn't seem that much faster, in fact seems to hang badly when something else is running in the background, but I'll have to play a bit more.
Something you may be able to help with though, I'm glad to see the new style photo album in this rom, much better than the old basic one, but how oh how to I change the default folder for pics and vids? At the moment I have to put them in My documents/my pictures (etc) on the phone. This will take up all of that nice memory space we've just made, and make the SD card pointless. I couldn't find the answer anywhere else, so please point me in the right direction if you can.

Just found something else, although I have Zone Alarm installed, which plays havoc with my active sync, I do have USBswitch installed on my phone, thus bypassing the problem of not connecting. But, since changing Rom I have noticed that if I soft reset, USB switch and connect, all is fine with active sync, but the next time I attach phone i get the following warning; shown on attached Jpeg. Strange thing is, although active sync, won't sync, I can still explore the phone. Anyone??

Hello everybody!
I'm new here, and very glad to see this extremely functional and dedicated online community to HTC products.
My HTC Touch, Elf0100, keeps crashing, and now doesn't connect to my GSM network when it does start. After a couple of minutes of it being on, it'll crash with the white screen of death!
The screen also starts flickering with random colours randomly as if something might be loose. I've never dropped this phone, and its only a month old! (I'm freaking out!)
Since I'm in based in Kenya, and the phone was purchased from India, I don't really want to send it back until i absolutely have to!
I have attempted to install the Blue Elves v5 ROM and also (overwrite) my Radio (due to no network service all of a sudden) to the same version (which is already the latest).
My Radio overwrite just doesn't work, and crashes on the Linux Penguin screen when trying to go into the RGB bootloaded mode.
The Blue Elves ROM upgrade halts at 3% and restarts the phone.
I've ready a couple of other members posts regarding '2% and 3%' crashes, but none of their (unexplained) solutions worked for me.
[Error 270: This image file is Corrupt...]
I was hoping someone might be help me out.
(Thanks for any help!)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\TFLOSettings - EnableCube: change the value from 1 to 0 - EnableScroll: set the value to 0 too
It disables only the cube, not the TouchFlo.

The above only disables the cube but won't save alot of memory because many processes are still preloaded upon startup (e.g. Cube's App Launcher)
Here's a link to Replace Biotouch (HTC Cube), save 5Mb of memory and gain functionality

Hope this help.
PS: I use the method in the thread to launch comm mgr direct (instead of cube) when I slide my thumb from bottom to up.

thank you for your ROM
Is it possible to have French language on the phone ? if yes, how can I dot it ? thanks
First apply the CID Unlocked for ELF http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=320155
or for ELFIN http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=372152 then Change the ROM use this dumped ROM http://www.4shared.com/file/43557177/3145d93b/Touch_HTC_2204061R_FRE.html for Elfin device.

For those that have problems with ActiveSync disconnecting constantly in the middle of the process [I did for hours and was loosing my mind]
Go into your windows device manager and turn off "Allow computer to turn off device to save power" on all your USB ports
Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device manager > USB... etc
Once I did this I was up and running in 5 minutes without a hiccup at all

1.The application "GS Alarm clock" is into \Windows\
{...you can create a shortcut in your \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ in order to have easy access!}
2.It's allready short-posted here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1881364&postcount=50) in this thread. I only have to add "Paul's words" from here (http://www.modaco.com/content/Daily/256280/Pauls-guide-to-changing-the-HTC-Touch-T-Mobile-Wing-PagePool-size/):
"Deep in the depths of the operating system of your device, there is something called the 'PagePool'. Without going into too much detail (and as I understand it!), the PagePool is a special area of memory reserved for loading apps into from ROM. This PagePool is a lot faster than ROM, so when things are executed from this 'cache' instead, the performance of a device will be quicker. On the flipside, if you have a 8MB pagepool (HTC Touch) and you're using, say, 4MB of the pagepool, then 4MB of space is wasted that could be program memory. Similarly if you have a 12MB pagepool (!) (T-Mobile Wing) in this instance you would we wasting 8MB of space!
The key is striking the balance..."
Regards!
I kinda thought im alright with techie stuff but reading all these posts make me feel small. hehe
Just a question about pagepool. I have original Touch (presumably what you guys are referring to as Elf??) and i intend to purchase 8GB microsdcard (in a hope that this would possibly improve my video playing capability) and hence i intend to install all the 3rd party prog on my sd card. In which case I wouldnt really need to be stingy on those "programme memory". I would much prefer to have fast Touch than balanced Touch. Is my logic valid at all?
I hope my question is relavant to this thread.

Hi there.
i downloaded the 12mb pagepool version. But i got a question.
My CID is already unlocked. I have to update my rom using the "Start" (in root folder) or just run the ruu?
Because when i run the ruu, the "new rom version" appears as "ELFUSPLv1.1", and not as "Blue elves.......". May i run the ruu even when appears "elvusplv1.1"?

Oops... I forgot to change the RUU filename for the start.bat to work. I will correct and re-load the corrected version up tonite.
For those in a hurry, you can change the filename "Blue_Elves_v5_4MBPP_WM6.1.nbh" to "Blue_Elves_v5_WM6.1.nbh" and then flash to the amended 4MB pagepool ROM. Similarly for 12MB and 18MB pagepool ROMs.

Hi metalzao,
If you had CID unlocked using pof's USPL, it's fine to proceed with RomUpdateutility.exe straightaway.
It's strange that ELFUSPLv1.1 is showing on the new ROM version screen, I will do a check later or tonite. Cheers.

Great to see you back!! I always admired your choice of customising and building roms.
As you can guess from my signature i m still with the shipped rom. But damn! I jus cant hold back! i need to flash these roms and try them out. And since noonski has mentioned in one of the previous posts, the cid unlock you have included, does it only do temporary unlock. If so, can i be able to flash back a shipped rom??? or do i need to cid lock again.
thankx!!

You can flash 4MB for ELFin but is not advisable as ELFin have not lack of program memory ~107MB. It is more for ELF which has a smaller program memory and frequently runs out program memory.
For ELFin you should try the larger pagepool like 18MB pagepool to increase file access speed. Pagepool is like RAM in computer, the bigger it is the larger is the "working table". Cheers..

Hi ayyu3m... yes it is a sort of JumpSPL or SoftSPL as some called it, which temporary unlocks the CID to allow you to flash a new ROM. No change to the original IPL and SPL and yes you can flash back to shipped ROM after that if you so wish too.. c",)

Hi captkkk,
Spacer2... what's that? a game? you wish to elaborate more....
Sorry, not enough details from me, my fault.
Well, Spacer2 is a today plugin for inserting space lines so that you can have total control of what plugin goes where.
Anyway, I got round of that and no need to install it.
Having said that, the USB connection has problem too, with Shadow 2.1, either with Advanced Network or not, AS works and can go online with USB, but with this one, only taking out the Advanced Network will allow that to happen.

Oh the Spacer plug-in to push the LG Menu to the bottom... I have installed that before and didn't encounter any problems.. ummh strange. As for going online with USB connection, it may be some settings in the ROM that I overlooked..
BTW, did you installed the 12MB pagepool or 18MB version. After experimenting, I think the default pagepool for ELFin is 12MB dynamic and not 8MB as we always thought so. So putting 12MB has no or little effect to the original pagepool setting. You may want to try the 18MB pagepool version and see whether things speed up a little... Some benchmarking done by those at Kaisers forum has found that 18MB pagepool gives you the optimum performance.. Cheers..

I am in fact using the 18MB PP, why use less when you can max it out right?
Anyway, so I think the USB thing is left aside for now, not a big deal anyway.
Places I can get connected has WiFi anyway.
Yes the speed, it surely is smoother than the original setting., still testing.....

Hi,
This is a very good ROM, I'm working with it since yesterday and it is very stable till now. The only problem is the Network Wizard is not Full "Middle east is not included".
I found a Cab file and install it, it works ok but when the Elfin starts there's an error message comes up "error in the data base"!!??
But, when I remove the new Network Wizard the message never comes up again and the elfin asks to recognize the Network every time at reset.
Could you help please.

Hi,
This is a very good ROM, I'm working with it since yesterday and it is very stable till now.
This is the pictures of my Alfin with your ROM and the Network wizard problem and as u can see Vodafone is OK on the today bar???

hi ayyu3m.. thanks for the details of the device information. This confirmed that the pagepool change is working for the ELFin but NOT WORKING for the ELF... sigh... well back to the drawing board and more tweakings.. I have a strong hunch though where to tweak.. anyone with an ELF that wish to give it a go? It will good you if have the shipped ROM as a backup just in case things go wrong.. c",)
As for getting back the default white keyboard, downloaded the attached zip file, extract the "msim.96.dll" and copy it to \Windows directory using GS Finder. Wait for a minute and soft reset the device and you should have your default white keyboard back...
Also noticed that you are using SPB Mobile Shell, try it out with the Diamond Theme Skin, it's awesome...

I'll be checking v5 out the coming days just flashed it.
Might be just me, but the loadin battery icon isn't dissapearing?
Aah My Bad It's working now.
But no 4 MBPP :(
Nice to hear from you too, Noonski! Yes, the pagepool change works for the ELFin but somehow don't work on the ELF. Have a strong hunch what to do and will do some more hex editing and tweakings tonite and upload a 4MB pagepool version that should work for the ELF too.. Need someone with an ELF to test it though and post the results after flashing. I have an ELF no more :(

Hi
OK, so far so good, the 18MB PP version is fairly stable, I use my own set of apps and themes + plugins anyway, so it doesn't matter to me what are included, all I want is the big PP size.
http://captkkk.emmali.hk/download/htc_touch/screens/113-rlToday+Home+BS-2.jpg
This version is confirmed that the USB connection will not get you online status (either with or without Advanced Network Connection).
Apart from that, the whole ROM is fast, and fairly stable, will try to perform full backup and full restore to see.

Me bad, sorry for not giving you the step by step procedure. First of all, delete the msim.96.dll file from the windows directory that you have just installed to reinstate back the keyboard then follow the steps below:
1. Select another input method apart from "keyboard".
2. Now copy the file "msim.96.dll attached to the Windows directory and replace the existing file.
3. Soft reset.. Done

Try if this works:

Yes, what's in the ROM will not be deleted but can be overwritten. So when you delete the new file, the old one will re-appears.. ;)
Okay, look like it need more than this file alone or can only build in ROM?... will need more digging into my old files and get back to you... so for the present moment bare with it..

If you are using the normal ELF (P3450) the 4mb PagePool version is not workin the way it shud. Swiftblade is gonna fix this problem soon.
Now to describe what pagepool is abt. Think of it as RAM vs PERFORMANCE in a pc/laptop
the more ram u have, the more processes it can complete. But increasing the number of programs that use the resources (RAM) can slow down the performance of the other program in need of RAM.
thus, in our ppc, 8mb pagepool is the default level set in any shipped ROM (mostly). this maintains a balance between ram and the number of programs that can be used simultaneously. but unfortunately this is not the case. the ram in the normal elf is very low. thus to increase the ram, the pagepool is set to 4. which means ram increases, but u can use only a lesser number of programs at a given time. sometimes one program may itself use up all the available ram. there is no set number actually. but u can feel when ur elf is all slow and sluggish.
(pls correct me if i m wrong) :D
so when its 4mb pagepool, ur RAM is a little more. but with 8mb pagepool, the RAM is in its normal level (mostly lower cos of minor memory leaks)
and these leaks are tweaked and fixed, which is why we say stable. like my ram has been stable arnd 17.97 today. no significant leak or loss in memory. which is why i m using the 8mb pagepool for now. as mentioned hopefully Swiftblade will tweak and fix it for us. :D
feel free to participate in the testing of the 4mb PagePool rom when uploaded :D
hope this helped

heyllo fafamon
the restore of system files (dll's and exe's) etc are what is causing all those conflicts. never choose to restore SYSTEM files
it is entirely wrong to do as the Sprite Backup has backed up system files from ur previous rom and THIS is what is causing all those conflicts
but if you want to restore things like ur contacts and inbox or documents try choosing to restore those files and document EXCEPT SYSTEM FILES
u shud never run restore of system files on another rom installed!!!!!

simply put, we are sacrificing the number of programs we can run simultaneously in order to give the programs that used more memory (like opera n netfront browsers) the advantage
