Ignore that instruction in the ROM folder, it is for both ELF and ELFin...

It will be included in the ELF ROM only because Hibernate does not work for Program Memory above 64Mb...:D Cheers

Ya, probably..:) Anyway, all the 2.20.XXX.XX stock ROMs are also flashable to both ELF and ELFin. I sought of discover it by "accident" some times back...haha:D The only things troubling is the pagepool is defaulted to 8 MB..

Well, you can't have everything I suppose... BTW thanks for dropping by and you have done a great job with your ROMs... Always "first of the block" so to speak.. Cheers.

I am eagerly looking forward to installing this new rom. I have an original Elf, so would be interested in the 4Mb Pagepool. Is this an easy hack? Just trying to work out whether to install the current (8mb) rom and make the changes manualy, or sit patiently (me - patient - yeah right...) and wait for the 4mb edition.

I am very happy with this ROM.
Tried a lot of other ROMs, other 6.1 too, yours have the best package of useful programs included.

The new Text message style in 6.1 is cool.

And , I am not sure, has the 6.0 Version the Option, to switch WLAN off after xy time....how ever,

I got a problem after flash the rom.
My elf cann not connect to the internet even if i got a very strong wifi signal.
And of course i got the right wlan settings.
Description: ie couldn't open ebay and my sip software can not log in. But only the weather in htc home can load data...
Is there any chance that it is a rom error?

Hi there... i'm actually using the Cloudyfa rom, it works fine for me, but before i used your 4.0 and i found some bugs and it's not very stable in my opinion, but i like some adds inside it. Now i'm wonder about Touchflo 2.0 i'm waiting for elf 5.0 specific rom. By the way i need more programs free memory for i can run some stuffs, i ask you if you can dismiss adds like: Getting Started plug-in, LG Prada Menu Plug-in, GSFinder, GSAlarm, psShutXP.
And re-add: Touch Keyboard + Keypad, Hibernate, HTC Task Manager 2.0, paint, Clear Temp 0.9.9, HTC RandomAccess.

Shortly, pagepool is something like a virtual memory that allows you to start programs faster...
More memory---> More program can be start faster

Remember that pagepool bigger wants some rams...

So...
Standars Htc Touch is 8 mb pagepool, if you set it to 4 mb you'd have 4 mb of free ram....

Steve, please don't just download and jump to question. Read the posts. There are a lot of info that you will find helpful instead wasting space and other people time by asking something that the author has taken time to answer. Your post is #30 appeared on the third page. You didn't have time to read the first couple pages? If your post is #300 or #600 then you may say there were too many pages to read. If we cut down the redundant messages, that will save a lot of time for a lot of people.

In fact, it is much nicer that the forum has a special check box just for compliment posts. When a new ROM comes out, there will be a lot of compliment posts such as "Great job", "Can't wait" or "Downloading" ... etc.
While the ROM chef needs that kind of compliments and encouragement, it is better that like the PDAViet forum, have a statement "There are 'how many' people who thanks the chef and here are their names: .........." and when someone thanks the chef, the post get move up just like there is a reply. That way, everyone get benefited. I also hates to scan through pages and pages of post before finding a meaningful post.

Hello All

i am having a problem.....i was on elf(in) shadow 2.0 and decided to try out Blue Elves V5.0 (great rom) but missed having hibernate embedded so wanted to go back to my previous rom,

i have tried everything,....i am not really a newbie at flashing but whatever i try on this rom doesnt work...

i can sometimes get it to go to the white screen on cid unlock tool (sometimes it freezes on the penguin)

when it does go to the white screen.....update starts...3% error 270, - tried with sim and sd in and out (tried updating to 3 different cooked roms)

if i go to tri-colour bootloader i cant flash original rom which has worked for me in the past

have done all the enable rapi stuff

have re-installed activsync

have pulled hair out

Still no luck

please give me anymore suggestions you may have

I think i'm better off waiting for the official 4mb pagepool rom after reading that, hopefully wont be too long now :-) I don't mind trying different roms but don't want to risk anything too much - if it was reliable i'm sure someone would have embeded this in their rom by now so you could just choose your preferred rom and they only need make one version.

i had the same problem, with penguins ,blue red green etc.
u can run the START , then to step 2 u see the penguin right? u do nothing but... soft reset , then u going to see red blue green screen , u run the ROMUpdateUtility in the RUU folder and when 100% it loads ur previous version , then again run ROMUpdateUtility and it will install this ROM

my opinion is that it's cool but it lacks of memory (ELF) ( FREE almost 15 mb RAM ;-( )
sorry but it runs quite slow, i'll try the shadow v2 to see their results
i was ok with the previous one
anyway nice job but i think u can do better

i had the same problem, with penguins ,blue red green etc.
u can run the START , then to step 2 u see the penguin right? u do nothing but... soft reset , then u going to see red blue green screen , u run the ROMUpdateUtility in the RUU folder and when 100% it loads ur previous version , then again run ROMUpdateUtility and it will install this ROM

my opinion is that it's cool but it lacks of memory (ELF) ( FREE almost 15 mb RAM ;-( )
sorry but it runs quite slow, i'll try the shadow v2 to see their results
i was ok with the previous one

I think i'm better off waiting for the official 4mb pagepool rom after reading that, hopefully wont be too long now :-) I don't mind trying different roms but don't want to risk anything too much - if it was reliable i'm sure someone would have embeded this in their rom by now so you could just choose your preferred rom and they only need make one version.

Sorry people.. It takes longer than expected on the 4Mb pagepool WM 6.1 ELF ROM release. Runs into some of problems setting the pagepool and it appears that WM 6.1 is also integrating 8 MB pagepool when the ROM is built.

Is the text messages in Inbox still group by senders? Read that it because of WM 6.1.
If yes, will skip this as dislike the way messages are organize in Inbox, still prefer
the older sms style.

Threaded SMS is integrated in WM 6.1 and I'm afraid you have to give WM 6.1 a miss if you want back the old SMS Inbox... Cheers

Shortly, pagepool is something like a virtual memory that allows you to start programs faster...
More memory---> More program can be start faster

Remember that pagepool bigger wants some rams...

So...
Standars Htc Touch is 8 mb pagepool, if you set it to 4 mb you'd have 4 mb of free ram....

If they have been changed from normal, you should get one of these (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1676118&postcount=1),flash it in tricolour mode&then try to reflash Swiftblade's ROM carefully!

{...you can create a shortcut in your \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ in order to have easy access!}

is practically really faster than the previous versions!
I can see that
by the rebooting-time of the Touch(~40%less time needed:eek:)!
2)Also the new sms(dialog-style)is something that I personally like because I usually forget what I or the other person have allready written:D.
3)New features like NewTaskManager&ManagedPrograms look nice,
but I can't understand the reason they are there,
since we allready have a TaskManager&RemovePrograms!:confused: Can anyone tell me what more they offer to us?

The Rom is in WWE, no Problem in menu, but is there a way to change the t9 back to german? if im using pcm keyboard, t9 works in german, but with htc keypad and htc keyboard with german in the t9 options it doesn't work, then my touch didn't reconigize that what i'm tapping...

Certain aplications require more ram to be able to work.
With 4 mb ppool aditional 4 mb is added to ram.
There is nothing wrong with 8 mb if you perfer it that way.

I have a problem SwiftBlade - Whenever I reboot the Touch, 8 times out of 10, it hangs! I then have to take out the battery and restart.

Just to give you some more info - It boots up, the Today screen is loaded and then some application starts up (I thought it was 'StartClean'...but that is not there in my startup programs - checked with SKTools). I can see the close 'X' button on the top-right. But it just sits there for as long I leave it (3-4 minutes until I lose my patience!). The Touch does not respond to screen taps, hardware keys etc. If I press the power button on top (to suspend), the backlight dims.

I then have to remove the battery and restart, praying that this time it would boot up properly.

Any suggestions (except for a hard-reset: I just finished configuring everything!)

You should add the contacts you want in the "speed dial"-side of the cube and then the names will be shown&remain in favourite people tab!

I don't seems to have that problem at all. Running it for 4 days already. I suspect that you might have over-tweaked the registry. Try resetting them back to original values and observe.... Cheers.

I have a problem SwiftBlade - Whenever I reboot the Touch, 8 times out of 10, it hangs! I then have to take out the battery and restart.

I have had this problem before - the last time it happened, with Blue 4.0, I had just installed PointUI the previous day, then I could only boot once in a few tries without it hanging. I had to hard reset in the end....removing PointUI did not seem to fix it.

Nope. I do not use Sprite. I reinstall everything except for restoring databases from PIMBackup. Maybe this helps - I first noticed this behavior when I used Advanced Config to alter some settings. It has been happening frequently after that.

Not too sure... but I think it got to do with the minimum sectors for each file. Smaller sector size less waste space.... Ummh... Now what am I talking about...haha:D

While I am typing now, I am playing music in the background and playing with the cube as the same time... still smooth at the moment. Trying IE with music now....

Did you use BatteryStatus to overclock? Try reset back to default original...

OK i did solve Weather problem by Installing Home plug-in on the top.
i did solve Cube problem buy installing new Touch Settings 2.25 with gave you match more options for Cube.


I still have flick scrolling problem in programs if it try to flick it up or down if i flick it and let it go it's very slow if i hold it and pull with my finger than it's ok.

I think it's a regestry settings on flick scrolling speed. Dos any one know ware can i change speed for flick scrolling. Any info will be grate.

Rogers ROM had side to side swapping. Wan I locked on my e-mail i swipe left to right or right to left to change from one e-mail or account to other.

Since I flashed this rom, while listening to music with Media Player, when I turn the screen off the sound stutters like there is some second of high cpu load. This never happened with swiftblade's 4.0 ROM. Any ideas? Clean flash + HHC + HTC PhonePad. Otherwise it still has the windows memory leak but the new task manager is great, boots faster and the new sms feature looks promising. Overall I have the feeling that it is not any faster than 4.0 and sometimes even a bit slower but that's just subjective.

ps: the sound also stutters when I switch the screen back on. Come to think of it, sometimes the screen does not even switch on/off and I have to press the power button again to make it work...

update: after putting startclean in the startup programs and rebooting, the problems with the power switch and sound stutter went away.

Hey all

Ive just recieved my 128mb Touch and the first thing I did was flash this rom to it....

Interestingly it feels - and does actualy seem to be doing things - a little faster than my old 64mb ram Touch....

Is there something in the rom that works faster with the 128mb or is it that the 128mb is actually a little faster.

Both are clean installs, and identical in setup with overclocking set to 260 on each at the moment, and the same cards in (1gb standard with a directory of cabs...

Im not complaining of course - though my daughter might when she gets hold of my old 64mb - just making an interesting observation.

Hm Strange this 6.1.

It's not lightging fast but it looks as if it's processing tasks at a more evenly pace, therefore making it faster.

Most of the links in the Prada Menu seem to be working but i don't quite get the USB stick link?

Nice Stable Rom, My favourite Skin off course is all black theme with Prada Buttons.
Doesn't need overclocking.

You could consider dumping the Launcher Tab from HTCHome since Prada has Application links.

Going to play some more with it see how Prada Can be customized some more.

I've been away for a while but Which Base would you recommenend at the moment? (haven't really looked for 6.1 versions yet just came back)

I replaced the first App Button with the HTC Launcher Icon.
XDA wouldn't be fun if i never learned somthing new, so this was my first go at not only replacing resources in a DLL but also geting it sort of signed.

As opposed to making the LG buttons look like the original HTC buttons, I would prefer the other way around. IMO, the original HTC buttons look drab. The LG buttons look slicker.

Also, in the spirit of providing more usable workspace, is it possible to reduce the height of both the HTC buttons and LG buttons to like half their current size? I would rather have more space for my calendar and tasks that also are visible on my Today screen. If I can avoid scroll bars showing up on my Today screen, I would prefer that.

I've allready checked that thread & it helped me a little in order to create my Cube-ActionScreen-Dialer-AudioManager_"skins" & some icons [see my sign], but altering CommManager's .png was tricky:rolleyes:!

i just found that there was a slight problem with the camera ??? seems t obe a line that now runs across the screen when in camera mode.

You can't replace it because it is still active. Go to Setting->Today->Items->Uncheck "LG Buttons". Then you copy the new file to windows directory and replace it. Now it should work.

If you want to revert back to the original one, just go to windows directory and delete the Todaybuttons.dll

Try using Total COmmander or GS Finder for copying the files. File Explorer will not work.

GS FInder is provided in the ROM. Go to Programs\Accessories to find the GS Finder app. and copy and paste as usual will work.

Swiftblade, i tried to flash the rom on my 64/128 Touch but it din work..

This was the first time i was updating a rom so i did the rapi and cert cabs install.. then ran the batch file and got through the CID Unlock procedure by getting a white screen.. then at the white screen, i soft reset my device and pressed enter on the batch file which open the RUU... made an active sync connection between device and PC. The rom started upgrading but suddenly at 3% it ended and RUU showed Error 270: Image file corrupted message.. i tried it thrice but no luck.. please help..

HTC switched to a new method to get these started up anyway.

There's a text file (startupapplist or something)

But if you remove the HTCServices.dll or go to HKLM\init and remove services from start up it should no longer start these up.


This is not a precise anwser but a good pinter ;)

You have to reflash the rom. Doing a factory reinstall (aka Hard reset) will bring back the same OS you have now, without any customization you may have made.

The memory details posted in the first post are for the elfin or elf extended cause it has 128MB RAM and 256MB flash size... whereas you have got a standard ELF with 64MB RAM and 128MB flash size, so according to that the memory details are correct for your device and so theres no memory lost, the total size of the program+storage memory depends on the flash size.... you can check your device configuration under Settings>System>Device Information>Hardware...hope this helps..

Hello everyone I'm new in this forum, Yesterday after installing blue elves 5.0 in my HTC elf the phone doesn't work!! it show the welcome screen (Smart mobility) for 5 seconds and then it powered off then i try to powered on and it show the same message and then it powered off!!! even when I'm plugging it into charger the led of charging (orange) stayed steady for 5 seconds and then go off and then come back and go off...!!!! the battery was fully charged before flashing the device and i did follow all the instructions and reading all the faqs before taking decision to use this custom ROM.
Any help will be appreciated.

There is a utility to change the PagePool for the Shadow 2.0 rom, its on his first post now. I don't know if it will work with the Elves rom though - has anyone tried it ?

I want to download you ROM, but i want to know if this will work on my HTC Touch. I put some pictures.
Do I know right that this wm6.1 is much faster than wm6.0? If it is. then will it owerheat my cpu?
When will the original wm6.1 come out?

1 more thing.
I was trying to backup my system, because then i am able to change my old settings back if something would go wrong. When I tried to backup, I got this message:

Are these files important when i want reset my system to my default settings?
Maybe somebody could watch if they have these files in their mobile?

Haven't used Sprite Backup ever. I used to use SPB backup.

but i know that .vol files cannot ever be overwritten. And .dat are ussualy temp files.

Best way to backup is ysing Pim for messages and contacts and a reg file for personal settings.

It makes life harder but not everyone uses sprite so it's hard to say where te issue might ly.

Unless im mistaken, the real point is that thats not the way you should be doing a backup of your rom.
If you need a backup of your data (contacts, appointments etc.) then you can use SPB or any other software.
If its the OS that you want to backup, there is no other alternative other then follow the Wiki and dump your rom.
Two very different things.
And I think the OP is expecting the result to be of the latter type when using SPB, which is not the case..
