Important Note:
Since Feb 12th I'm serving in the army (one-year mandatory service). Although I'm not able to work on the ROM from there, I read the forum almost every day. I'll support my ROM on every change I get. I also plan on releasing a kitchen in the near future (possibly at the end of March), so that you'll be able to cook your own custom ROMs.

Please do not ask for a Vanilla ROM. You'll be able to make one yourself when the kitchen is released!

Many thanks to:
vjgrace and EA for implementing a lot of registry tweaks
GnatGoSplat for the new XIP
DSF, karhoe, Sefy, kartam, kkrull, illi, sonus and many more people for their ideas, hints, suggestions, bug fixes, etc.
Shark, Andot, DukeStix, and Phil (jm012a9749) for their original work on WM6 for the Tornado
Dr. Gonzo for some nice oem packages taken from his Vox ROM.

Me being the very first to use, saying this new rom rules! lots of new tools in it! and works REALLY fast! i'll report more after 24 hours (i'm reinstalling all of the programs i use ) but for now it's working perfect!

Remember my Sounds issue? well, although after flashing it was ok, seems like one of the installations is causing it to happen again. Now these are installations i've done on every rom so far, yet it's happening again even after i've done format binfs so can't blame it on that one!

I MAY have found the bug causing my "Sounds" to stop working! it's not with an installation! it's one of the tweaks in the registry which the phone is enabling! as soon as i track it down, i'll post which one and i'd recommend it's removal!

UPDATE! I found the bad Tweak!
Do NOT change the location of the Volatile folder! i strongly suggest REMOVING that option!

UPDATE! I found the bad Tweak!
Do NOT change the location of the Volatile folder! i strongly suggest REMOVING that option!

In my tests on the pre-release ROM I did not face the problem with Sounds that you faced. In fact I point the Volatile folder to SD card but did not delete it from main memory. I have been doing this with other previous ROMs too. It helps when sending emails with large attachments. I noticed this and a number of temp files are in fact in the \Storage Card\Volatile folder.

However during my testing at one stage I lost the sound. It was not as loud as usual. I tinkled with the Bluetooth A2DP and managed to regain the loudness. Seems strange to me.

Still with the pre-release ROM, i am faced with the two soft keys freezing.

Will try the final release in a while.

FYI I also point the UACONTENTS and Messaging
to SD Card without problems. This is for the MMS and SMS files respectively.

Thanks
illi

@illi, i'm only reporting the experience i had, i kept thinking one of my installation cause the "Sounds" to not work. Only after i restored the Volatile tweak back to it's place, they worked again.

When i put "Sounds" i'm talking about the Ringtones selection settings, when i've pointed the Volatile to my SD card (also, did not remove the original) then none of them would play and i get the error "corrupt or unavailable" even though the files were playable and available using any other player including wmp itself.

I've just given my personal experience, after flashing twice because this error.

@illi, what i report is from this release as well, as soon as i've used to tweak to move the Volatile to my Storage Card then none of the ringtones would play. As soon as i restored it to the original place, it started working again

Did you create the directory on the Storage Card? The temp dir should exist, it is not autocreated!

I hope not many issues will be appeared. Thank you all for testing. The ROM is great and thanks Nitro for the Hard work. However, I am having an issue
setting mid files as ringtone. When I select it, it says as "Corrupt or Not Available". I tried moving the mid files to storage card but still no luck. Is any one able to set mid files as ringtone.

Thank you for this new ROM NiTroGenious. I'm going around right now. Things are working fine.

I have small things to ask though maybe some people can answer me :

1) I' wanted to change the startup.jpg logo, but it says that I do not have the rights to replace or erase file.

2) All the elements in the startmenu are spread around, I wanted them to be organized properly like folders icons first and then applications.

3) How do I do if I want to reinstall the right menu that is available in vjgrace rom ?

4) unfortunatly my certificate issue is still there :( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=364242

Thank you again for this new ROM.

@NitroGen, seems as thou you are right, for some reason my volatile folder on the SD card was missing (it was there, so that's the weird thing) and once i've created it and moved the tweak back to the SD, everything is working again

Pardon me, I have a terrible head cold so I can't read straight.

You have a set of WM9 codecs to putin the TCPMP directory. Does this mean that TCPMP is included? Because I can't see it in the list.

Sefy
4th February 2008, 10:12 AM
@Exitao, no, TCPMP is not included, once you install it by yourself, you can put those DLL files into the TCPMP installation folder and then you can use it with those media file types.

i found WM5torage file transfer problem. you just forget to add two registry values.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\USB\FunctionDrivers\WM5 torage_Class]
"Tbs_RNDIS"=dword:00000000
"MaxTransferSize"=dword:00002000

Congrats Nitrogen! :d
However I don't like the organization of Start Menu, I prefer all shortcuts placed on the root (Accesories excluded), that's because of the issue with icon fetching... you have to wait more when going to a subfolder .. etc (why microsoft doesn't use a permanent cache solution for StartMenu's items?...). I've allready moved the shortcuts from subfolders in root :P.

For the people that have problem with video playing via WMP ("The source filter for this file could not be loaded."), install this patch (http://www.sharemobile.ro/file.php?id=46803) (HTC_VideoPatch.cab).

Hello all,

for first I`m found one problem on this ROM which is this, that if you are playing anything in WMPlayer and then keep him running backlight on phone is ON all the time and dosn`t swich off. If you close WMP then everything works fine.

Next about the battery:
I`m read every feedback here on theard`s about battery and I still have not found anything what can help me. My phone worked at least 3day normal using. From one day my battery it`s empty till 24h. With any others ROM as well not just this. Even I`m bought new battery for HTC same it`s empty till same time. I become be crazy from this if I have to charge my phone every single night. I tryed flash with any others ROM WM6 and any others types of Radio ROMS but without change.

for off start up/schut down sound and change animation look at: Start/Settings/UI Tweaks/Startup,schutdown Animation :)

or registry:

for change picture (not animation) setting value data: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/Startup(Shutdown)/1(2)/Splash/ and change Windows\startup.jpg
for off start up/schut down sound:
HKEY_CURENT_USE/ControlPanel/Sounds/SystemStart(Shutdown)

I have not this problem.
look at start/Settings/Connection/Beam and set off.
Otherwise try master reset with full batery and than control Beam again or reflash WM06. First make buckup!

Hi, I'm trying this great rom on my SPV C600. It seems you didn't include a JVM for java applications.

I tried IBM J9 evaluation when I was running with the original WM5 ROM, but as its name says, it's an evaluation. I'm looking for a long time solution.

With this WM6 ROM I tried Mysaifu JVM, but java applications I use don't work.

Do you know other JVM ?

I'm having a serious sound problem that won't go away. The speaker or earpiece while in a call won't work anymore, it stops working after using the phone a little while. Music seems to play in Media player, but I get no sound at all. I followed the directions to the letter to flash the phone and used format BINFS. I even tried going back to an old WM5 rom but it still doesn't work. I'm going crazy, anyone know what's happening?

BTW, great rom nitro! Many thanks and good luck!

first of all, grand respect to NiTroGen, great work! platinum ed. is the best firmware. i've tested some variants from SH@RK and alex (4pra.ru) but was not satisfied. but i had to downgrade to official wm5, because russian language is absent :( . May i hope the russian version will appear?
Here is t9:
http://melgurth.ovh.org/index.php?page=downloads

Try this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1430847

Or look to the Smartphone General Forum for Mennisys' (sp?) sticky thread about "internationalisation issues" or something like that.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=323790

I just looked around and couldn't find a russian localisation, just t9. If you need local, then you go to the russian sites, download a rom and dump it to get the mui files described in the last ink above.

You can add Russian MUI files and registry entries. When Nitro puts his kitchen out (unless you have your own) you can later add Russian localisation to a ROM so you don't lose it on hard reset...

This ROM is much faster than any I have used so far(not tried vanilla) installed the WMP fix which got WMP working perfect, but I am noticing that compared to all other WM6 ROMS I am noticing very bad battery life even compared to VJ 3.7 which was the last one I used.
Great ROM though stable, nice speed.
many thanks Nitro.

I have to say i'm experiencing a different thing, my Battery is lasting a whole lot more. This is a year old battery now, and on the previous rom's i'd have to do a charge every day and a half approximatly (no wifi or bluetooth used).

Right now it's 8.5 hours usage and battery is at 97% so far

Be Happy.Ive a Theory;
One year old Battery+SmartPhoneJunkie=Bad BatteryKarma.I've sucked up 3 Batteries in 3 Years, good Quality, but the permanently plug-on-plug-off and highAmp-lowAmp is a high-Stress-situation for every EnergySpender. And a new ROM says to write into the ROM-Sector.This needs a lot more Energy than the Standart-Ram-writing Methode, this is the why the accu MUST BE LOADED MIN 50% BERFORE FLASHING Attention, because there is no energy used by USB to write into ROM,i think. This (maybe) causes Accu-damage.Ive sometimes recognize the same results like you, but "reflashing" did not help.Replace your battery,...

EDIT;ive a better Accu-performance,too.Sorry,misunderstanding...

First off, NiTroGen congrats on cooking this amazing rom. Been anticipating this release for quite awhile.

I flashed my 2125 to this ROM a couple of days ago and noticed some of the same issues as other users. WMP, WM5torage, and such. So I reflashed it earlier today and started over. I installed your SP1 and it appears to correct all the issues: WM5torage now works fine and WMP will play videos without needing the HTCVideoPatch.(Dont know if it fixes the midi issue, as I dont use any midi files).

One issue that I have come across is that MobileConfig gives me a critical error everytime I go to menu/exit while in the program. Anyone else experience this?

Another issue is that when I change the LongVolumeKeyPress in Hardware Key Settings to anything it doesnt do anything when pressed. The only other keys I change are the commmgr and long camera press, but they work fine. I knew at one time the LongVolKeyPress could only be changed to like 5 different cmds and was wondering if that was still the case.
Thanks

Rightmenu is beter than vito copy&past

You have to only select for left menu :
- past
- copy
- shift
and set in Option some hotkey ( i can be with delay )

works perfect ( fast & no errors )

RM is cool app - it should be in the rom ;)

Disappeared from where? Files are missing from "\windows" directory? Or no sound is played at startup and shutdown? If is the last, you can put them back Start-> Settings-> UI Tweaks-> Startup/Shutdown Animation.

It seems that there is a memory leak... After 5 days, without a soft reset (restart), the OS start giving errors such as "Can't find ':MSStart' (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all the required libraries are avaiable. " when trying to open Start Menu.
Or "Can't find ':MSCDial' (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all the required libraries are avaiable." when trying to open the Dial window.
And so ON (:MSREMOTE, :MSSettings, :MSPIE etc).

When trying to open an unsigned application (via Homescren only - can't open StartMenu in this situation) it give this error: ""Access denied. The program cannot start because it is not digitally signed with a trusted certificate".

It seems that the OS does 'forget' the registry and since the OS is highly based on registry.. it starts acting weird.
Also in this time I wasn't able to receive calls (even to be noticed about them) - I've made a test.

So the solution is a soft reset (restart).

I think all of these has to do with Page Pool minimizing (from 8MB to 6MB).. And I'm don't want to reflash the ROM just for that :-S (Page Pool can be changed easely, via WinHex - more info here (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=ChangingPagePoolofWizardWM6Roms ), OR via an application made by andot - I don't remember its name right now)

It's been a long held belief that just like the destop windows, the phone should be reset periodically. Once every 4 days does not seem unreasonable cosnidering that there are those who do it religiously daily.

First of all, thanks Nitrogen for this great work!

Unfortunately my experience is not so good with this ROM.~

I'm not sure if there was something that went bad...

- startup takes about 2minutes
- UI is extremelly Slow.
- TomTom takes forever to show the first screen (+/- 3mins) and then hangs
- Battery life is a lot worst
- When receiving a phone call, I cannot hear counterpart for abour 2-3secs.
- ...

Any ideas on what could be wrong?

I don't think it's gonna matter that much, because not a lot words are spelled differently in UK and US, of course some, but MS Office Mobile doesn't have too much text so I don't think it's vital to get English, I'd just stick to US. Yes, Microsoft/US can be ethnocentric, but what can ya do.

Lets see if anyone can help. I installed Windows live on phone, works fine on Wi-Fi, when I try on GPRS it keeps giving error, check for connection problems. It has like a 5 step bar, sometimes it goes only up to 2, and few times up to 5 then the error.. I do have a very strong GPRS connection. I have a 2nd SDAII-OEM WM5 and Messenger works fine there. What could be the problem? Everything else works great on the phone. I can browse internet, google maps with GPS, etc. Just windows Live giving me a hard time.

Umm just to mention. I used to have the G for my connection, now I got an E(Edge?) Don't think that would matter, but there it is.

When it comes to superCid, if you were able to update the ROM, then your phone has already been unlocked. SuperCID simply means that you can flash any ROM from any carrier; with the caveat that you can also flash ROMs from other devices, which will likely brick your phone (hacerle un ladrillo a tu celular).

Who's directions did you follow to update? If you followed Karhoe's tutorial (see the sticky thread in the Tornado forum), then you you did it without knowing. If you didn't, please give it a read.

If you followed Karhoe's tutorial, exactly, you CID unlocked your phone.

If the ROM update worked, it is CID unlocked.

To check, use TeratermPro and enter command "info 2" the answer SuperCID means it's unlocked.

Sorry what I meant to say was compared to VJ 3.7 it is more.
I sue gprs once a day to check my email in the morning then the phone is in standby for the rest of the day and the phone usually goes to about %70 I can't see that as being normal especially when I have about 5 email messages a day to my hotmail.

have any body else experienced the same slow speed while opening menus. there is a longer delay compared to when i had WM5

my phone is a tmobile SDA (same as Tornado).

even with OMAP set to 228, the menu buttons are still slow.

also i realized that the Weather was by default set to update itself. So i disabled that.

I restarted the phone and the menu is still kinda slowish. anyone have any suggestions.... also how high can I set the OMAP to. im afraid to overclock it too much. i dont want to fry it.

thanks for the blogs and guides..

It would be great to know that there are official ROMs for our tornados!

I need it really ;)

I try the steps of others post (installing WM6VoIP.CAB), but i dont see "Internet Calling" in home screen and in Comm Manager "Settings > IP Phone" dont work.

i suppose you still need to install the kapt_Voipiser.cab app to do the settings. it works for me on voipdiscount.

Or does anyone know of any software that will allow me to change hardware keys like that? I have looked at HButton and AEBPlus and the latter looks good but has too many conflicts with smartphones.

SMS programing is transmited from your celular company directly to your phone(In some cases, its stored on your SIM card, and phone should read it). You should contact your company and have them send you a "Push Wap" to reprogram SMS(this is done over the air). Would you please mention what phone and company you are with?

PD: If this isn't he case, then you might have skipped a step when updating or something went wrong. Just to mention, I have SDAII and before this rom, I couldn't send/recieve MMS, Now I can :) SMS working great too.

This is teh fastest feature packed WM6 ROM so far, if you want speed I suggest you go back to 5 or try the Vanilla edition of WM6.
The only parts of the ROM I find very slow are accessories can take about 10 seconds to access and email/messaging is about 5 seconds.
Other than that its very fast.

No, I followed the guide specifically. I used Vista and changed the driver to work with Tera Term. Reformatted BINFS and installed ROM. I have repeated process numerous times switching between ROM versions. This ROM is the best because voice dial via bluetooth works, where VJGrace ROM does not support. None of the ROMS run slow. Have you checked to insure all of your RAM memory is working? Have you installed other programs to fill up phone memory. Just like XP and Vista, WM requires temp files in order to do memory paging. If your phone is set to use internal memory instead of a SD card for temp storage, then it will be slow if no memory is available. You can change location in settings/tweaks section.

Not for me, not on my SDA, I get freezups with this one. Before this one, I had with a WM6 with a lot of stuff too, also a Facade homescreen (using default on this ROM), and it ran faster than WM5.

This is knock-out work Nitrogenious!

Your's is the first ROM I've flashed since EA's Chinese ROM. You and EA are the only people who I've installed more than one ROM from.

Theres a problem though. There's something wrong with the joystick driver in this ROM. Either it wasn't implemented properly, or you've added an older version (or I suppose it could be a new version I haven't heard of), but the joystick is not disabled when the keypad is locked.

This is going to be a battery costing flaw.

@the one with GPRS problems, make sure you have the latest radio flashed.

It's been a long held belief that just like the destop windows, the phone should be reset periodically. Once every 4 days does not seem unreasonable cosnidering that there are those who do it religiously daily.
yes, but with other ROMs i've passed 10 days without restarting :P..

As I posted before this ROM creates an error when attempting to play DRM header files with Windows Media Player (WMP). The error is: "An unknown error 0X800700C1 has occurred". Platnum SP1 install does not fix this problem. I have tried WMP and Coduits Pocket Player. I did find that if you move the WM5 codec files into the WMDRM subdirectory on the storage card then Pocket Player will play the DRM files. I am sure that the WM9 codecs are missing for WMP also, but have been unable to find a subdirectory in the WMP path. I have tried /Windows, /windows/system, and /program files/windows media player. Does anyone know where to put the files?

Also, The ROM creates CE system errors anytime WMP or Pocket Player is running as a background task. If you start WMP, then hit home button and then hit a programmed button, you will get a CE application error. My button 3 is task manager. When I hit it, then: "Celestask is not a valid CE application" error pops up and locks up my phone. The phone does this anytime a media player is open. If you first close the media player, then all works fine.

Thanks in advance for any ideas that will remedy this problem.

Do a google search for club imate's ftp. There is an official rom on there for the sp5 that will flash your phone from the bootloader. You may need to disable activesync's usb connection first, but I'm not sure.

Ok, so I downloaded the rom last night and installed it. It's the first time I've ever done this but it was pretty smooth. Wm6 is great and the rom is too but I do have some complaints. I'm just going to list them briefly and if anyone can give me some answers to fix them I'd greatly appreciate it.
1. It's SLOWWWW! Wm5 had a hickup every now and then but this is ridiculous. It's not unusable but it is becoming slightly impractical. It has its good times but when it's bad it is bad!
2. 3rd part software. I think this may be one reason things are so slow, but I haven't the slightest idea. I don't know if it's possible to delete the 3rd party software but I'd love to know how.
3. There is an annoying beep every time the phone goes idle.
4. The volume of the opening and closing sound is uncalled for and just ain't gonna work!
5. I don't seem to have the option of having a "long press" on the comm button. That is what I usually use to activate microsoft voice command.
6. Oh, I just remembered! Whenever I open a program, just before the window shows up, I see a box in the middle of the screen that gets bigger really really quickly. It's annoying and doesn't make things seem very complete.
7. That stupid "clock on top" only displays in 24 hour time!
8. What happened to the stock task manager?
9. What the eff is "hibernate" and why do I need it?
10. What is with all the various bluetooth programs and can they help me snarf cause I think it is fun! (only as an experiment, never for evil purposes. why would I wanna call or email someone named "lashonda jackson" anyway???)
11. What is omap clock and is an overclocking tool? If so, can't I screw up my device if I do that without knowing what I'm doing???
12.WM5 storage???

Other than that, and I don't mean this sarcastically, I love it! :) I'd like to love it more, so if you will please excuse all the noob questions and help me out I'd greatly, mucho, uber, boss appreciate it! Ensure that any programs you installed after flashing your ROM were installed to storage, not device.

Navigate into the phone's startup folder and delete any non-OS lnk files, like the cursor or copy paste apps.

Use the tweaks included in the Start, Settings to adjust your phone.

Power off the phone, restart the phone and then insure that you use Celetask to close/terminate programs when you stop using them as opposed to leaving them running (most programs do not actually shut down so stay around leaching resources). Make sure that Celetask is set to close when you select an app in Celetask, otherwise, exit Celetask by Menu, Exit.

Lastly, please start reading the forums on your own before crying for help.

I installed your rom yesterday and I love the new look however now I have no sounds at all.
Whenever I go to the sounds list to asign a sound to the ringtone, text, and email messages I get an error saying the ringtone is corrupted....

Problem is every ringtone I choose is corrupted so at this time I have no sound so I am missing a ton of calls and messages.

Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this...

I thank you in advance for your assistance.

Have you installed any other audio playing application, or is this after a fresh flash?

I also suggest you reflash, and ensure that you "format BINFS" to ensure proper flashing of your device. Try to use your ringtones, etc, before installing any other applications.

No I have not installed anything other then the ROM. The sounds worked fine for the first few hours then just quit working.

I used activesync and transfered the windows sounds to my computer and they play fine so I am not sure what has happened....everything worked fine with the orignal WM6 that was posted. I upgraded to the SP1 to fix the Windows media player not staying in full screen mode and the long volume down not activating the voice software. Both those issues work good now but I lost my sound...

I'm going to keep tinkering with it... I'm new at all this and I'm afraid i'll brick it if I keep flashing it...

thank you.

You must type "info 2" before "format BINFS" ;)

A new version containing all fixes will be released tomorrow. Thank you all for the feedback. :)

Please "format BINFS" before installing any new ROM. It will prevent any problems (slowdown, etc) from appearing.

If it dosnt say "supercid" after typing "info 2", is it still possible to format the phone?

NiTroGenious

You can format the filesystem (NOT the phone or you'll brick it) of any non-supercid phone, but you will not be able to install any other ROM than the official.

You read. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1962100&postcount=201) At this time, you don't. When Nitro releases his kitchen you will be able to install.

Neo takes up a lot of space. Similar to installing Facade,

Hello guys, can i update just the radio and SPL (No idea what the SPL does) w/o having to flash?

@Nitro: thanks for sharing with us your days off.

@Exitao: thanks for being around too help us out.

One more Q... I need a new D-PAD(MOUSE) Any one knows Where can I get them.? I've tried HTC, E-Bay and searching googles w/o luck.

Seems I suffered from the same problem as Sefy, ie no ringtones, SMS tones etc. Even just looking at the Sounds control panel (making no changes) resulted in a 'corrupt file' or 'wrong format' error. Checked Core Player hadn't stolen the file associations, then tried Windows Media Player. That's when I realised it wouldn't start, so figured the two problems were connected.

Anyhow, installed the SP1.cab and it cured everything, and feels a bit faster!, then I read the thread. I had already moved the volatile folder to SD card, where it still is, so that was not the problem in this case.

Who me? I didn't do nuttin, nobody saw me do it and you can't prove nothing.

As for your d-pad, that sounds not good. Have you ever taken your phone apart? IRC the d-pad is soldered to the mainboard. Chances are that you will fry your board.

i had the SP1.cab installed since about 2 weeks ago when this came out. at least couple times (after the phone stays on for aa few days) the phone starts behaving erratically, with some keys not responding, and then eventually phone locking upo forcing a battery removal step. i did the BinFS steps before flashing and followed the guide etc.

is the Feb25 update any diff from original+SP1.cab ? the SP1 cab is the same size as it was 10 days ago. i am wondering if i need to reflash with the full rom or just run SP1.cab again? anyone had similar problems? i am probably going to flash it again with the latest updated rom just to be sure.

This has been mentioned previously. It's not uncommon. Unless you are OCD about ending programs and freeing memory windows mobile will become erratic the longer it runs without reboot.

Personally, I power off my phone every night or second night and restart it before plugging it into the charger. Mostly just to be sure my alarm goes off in the morning.

There are those who will complain that they shouldn't have to reboot, but complaining doesn't fix it.

I believe that the newest ROM has the SP1 fixes included. If you look at the ROM name, it is called SP1, instead of a ROM and an SP1 cab.

Umm  well to the best of my memory, the flat cable that comes out of the D-Pad goes to the keyboard. No idea if its a plug or welded. I've never removed the metal keyboard back cover. And both my SDAII's have problems with the D-Pad. :( I guess I'll have to start shopping on E-Bay for a parts phone with a good keyboard/mouse.

Edited to add: I'm a lucky camper, I just did a search in E-Bay and found a new vendor with plenty of parts for SDA's :) Search for Item number: 190198797944 There is my D-pad and keyboard assembly.

I agree 100% with Exitao. "Windows" Mobile is just like a home computer... Needs to be restarted oftenly to completly cleanout buffers, memory, etc. Also, before you reboot(restart)the phone, turn off your bluetooth headset if using one, then turn it back on after the phone has restarted. It avoids man conflicts with eratic bluetooth behaviours such as not re-dialing or not hanging up calls.

My bad. I don't remember my stick being loose from the board. Unless I'm thinking about some other gadget, but I have a vague recollection of using canned air on it when I changed the window.

I think this battery meter (http://www.saman-cz.com/ppc/index.html) is better than the one already installed in ROM. When charging it turns blue. It also displays both on the home screen and in applications. If only the original battery indicator can be removed:cool:

Hope you can include this one instead in your next ROM.

A couple questions...

1.- After installing this ROM I can not get access to all the folders in the root of my Tornado. Using Windows File Explorer while connected via WMDC 6.1. I can can see /, /Bluetooh, and /Storage folders, but when I access / (root) I can not see the Windows or Temp folders. I used to be able to browse the Windows folder on my Tornado with WM5 from my desktop.

2.- For some reason I can not get the start/shutdown animation and sound to work. I think I saw them and heard them the first time I booted, but now I just get the Qtek OEM screen and a beep at startup. I installed the sounds.cab that I thought have been removed by NiTro in the lastest ROM. I also tried disabling the OEM Animation using MobileConfig tool, but the changes won't stick.

Btw, I just realized that after I installed the latest NiTro SP1 ROM, I also installed the VM6PlatinumSP1.cab on top of it. I was following the instructions in the Step by Step guide and did not realized that that SP1 ROM includeded the fixes in that .cab . Could this be the source of these problems?

Thanks...

Sounds like you need to "show hidden files and folders" for #1
There is a thread on this somewhere on here. I did it but cant remember how I did it.

I cant get the startup sounds in mine either but it doesn't make a differance to me if they work or not.
My phone is always on.

Thanks... I found the thread. In Vista besides having to select "Show Hidden Folder and Files" one must "also" DEselect "Hide protected operating system files"... No folders mentioned in the second choice... go figure.

I agree that the functionality of my phone is not affected by the statup sound/animation, but I had grown attached to the sound of a car starting and the sound of a car crash when I started and shutdown my phone.

Do you have the same issue with MobileConfig not being able to disable the OEM animations?

One more question... I also updated the radio to 4.1.13.28._02.61.01. With my old radio and VM5 my operator was identified as at&t now it's identified as Cingular... (I know is the same carrier) Under Networks when I click "Find a Network" or "Preferred Networks" at&t is not listed as an option. Is there another place where I should be looking to change this?

Thanks again...

Your welcome.

I believe (somebody correct me if I'm wrong) the OEM animations are installed somewhere else from the ROM. Not sure where but no matter what operating system I have installed the OEM animations still do their thing... Again, I leave my phone on 24/7 so I rarely see them.

I am not sure on your radio question..... My SDA shows my carrier with Cingular being a secondary carrier if mine is unavailable. I guess T-Mo and Cingular have some kind of agreement if I leave T-Mo service area.

Every once in a while my phone will beep telling me I left service area then beep again showing Cingular as my service, then a short time later it will go back into T-Mo service and show that on the screen.

Good Luck.... although I don't think I offered you and help lol. :o

Since WM 6.1 is now out (though it's for MotoQ) I did not flash this ROM. I anticipate you would cook a 6.1 instead. Any hope of having this 6.1?

You guys should seriously consider asking someone else to make a WM6.1 port for the Tornado instead of Nitro. You seem to keep forgetting that he's in the military and won't be able to do any cooking for, like, a year at least. I think it's mentioned on Page 1.

What are the specific (Key Values) that need to be set in the registry in this ROM to change:

1. Start Animation
2. Shutdown Animation
3. Startup Sound
4. Shutdown Sound

Are the pointers to files for "Animation" and "Static" graphics key entered in the same registry key? Also, can a .jpg files be used instead of .gif files?

Hi guys, I'm gonna try to update to this
WM6 Platinum Edition 5.2.1711.18165.0.5.0 SP1, but i already have the WM6 English 5.2.1616.18120 Standard v3.7 (FINAL!) installed on my phone.
