I take no responsibility for anything you do to your device.

ROM includes no radio. Radio 3.27.00 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=362563) or higher is required.

If you have an older radio installed, your device will not boot after flashing this rom. You must enter bootloader using power+camera+reset and flash radio 3.27.00.

I am once again using no2chem's excellent XIP (slightly modified.) If you like my work please remember to thank him also.

I haven't flashed yet so I don't know if the BT OBEX issues have been resolved, but were you thinking about upping a ROM without the Comm Manager if need be?

Thanks, DCD (and all), for your tireless efforts!

I wouldn't stress it to much. DcD will probably follow his usual plan and will post his kitchen soon after the rom has been released ... which means you could do what you like with the com manager :).

so this may have been discussed already, but how come 6.1 looks nothing like the sneak preview pics of it that we got a while back? i think those pics were on SP, but you'd think some of that good looking interface would have been carried over, instead of just threaded text messaging.

see:

Hrrrmm.. The other build in v2 was 5.2.19716 (19716.0.7.0). Is this Build 19199 older?
Dont ask me about the logic of MS... but 19716 was a very very old build.

in other words... ms has stupid numbering scheme... this build is in fact much newer.

dcd, you are the man. Remember last week when I asked about WM 6.1 + Leaked Sprint ROM?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1862259&postcount=4

Who'd have thought within one week's time, you'd be able to create a hell of a ROM that was in no way shape or form half-assed. The pace at which the WM development community operates is incredible.

Another excellent job DCD! I put my xv6800 in boot mode, ran the 2.2exe and it loaded easily over my 2.1.

I'm glad to see the original teal default theme back, that's my favorite. Also, I see the default keyboard is like the wm5 with the number keys on the main keyboard. This really is a nice add, sometimes the littlest things make a noticeable difference.

I was able to *288 option 1 and 2 and make calls without calling VZW to reset the A-key database again.

This rom seems even faster than the last one and it also seems to have more free ram 23.40 mb free on fresh boot. I love it. Again I am very happy to see office and one note included :D

Again I wish that there was a voicemail plugin cab but other than that this is the best rom that I have used so far.

I am redownloading 2.2.0 on my phone to test the disconnect issue. So far I am still connected although it is not very fast as I do not get reva at my house. However slowly but surely it is working. I will probably cancel it but it has been going for about 5-10 mins now without a stall or disconnect.

Hope that this helps

I NEED HELP!

I keep getting stuck on a white screen showing the Verizon logo and "no radio" at the bottom.

I am able to flash the Hard SPL and the ROM, but when I try to flash the radio, it gets to 9% and stops, leaving bootloader mode and resetting to the that white screen.

What am I doing wrong?

I even relocked, reflashed to an old ROM and started over. I still get stuck at the "no radio" screen.

I am entering bootloader mode before each flash and running the RUU apps within each folder.

Oh, I am now using XP. When I thought it was Vista, I tried XP, but still having problems. Good thing I have my 760 to use while my 6800 is nonfunctional...

You're kicking ass as usual dcd, thanks (for the songs :) )!

Everything is responding faster with 2.2.0 over 2.1.0 on my xv6800, including scrolling in PIE.

PIE seems to still have issues sputtering and hanging while downloading pages though. Even google.com/m has hung at 7k a couple times for me so far (seems to load everything but the google graphic). Truthfully, I think I started noticing this after flashing the first gps/rev A radio and rom (and have seen it on all subsequent roms including no2chem's).

Using gmail's imap still requires the workaround mentioned for 2.1.0.

Overall, this is a very fast and stable rom for me.

I am not sure if this is a rom or radio issue but it has been happing for about a week now? and it is not just your roms I tried nue's rom's and same thing has been happing. I tried opera just to see if it was a ie issue and no luck. same thing happened, but at least I could resume after it timed out. Also if I am downloading from a ftp client I get the same thing. mainly this happens with cab files. if you need more info let me me know and will try to answer as many questions as I can. thanks for your great work and I hope this helps.

I had the same issue, but had it ever since the GPS/Rev A upgrade. This has happened regardless of what rom I have tried. I think it's just a PIE thing with REV A. This happened to me before and after I tried 6.1 so I really do not think it is caused by 6.1. Chad

It's an .exe. Just make sure ActiveSync is Synced and run the .exe and your phone is up in normal today screen. You don't need to unlock your cell again once it is unlocked.

Random Question but is there any reason the ram for these new releases keeps getting lower and lower

groove9281
4th February 2008, 05:14 AM
Others have mentioned the random loss of connection while online. I too have had this issue. It's not limited to PIE as far as I can tell.

I have been losing my connection while using Google Maps and it causes Google Maps to display an error message, "Google Maps requires an internet connection to function." Google Maps then closes automatically when I click OK. This happens randomly, sometimes after just a minute or so, and sometimes after more than 20 minutes. It has nothing to do with a timeout or anything like that. I have been in the middle of waiting for the map to update after moving around and it will lose its connection.

Also, in PIE, I have had websites only load halfway and then quit. After pressing refresh, it will usually load without any issue.

I'm guessing the radio is buggy and there is some packet loss or something along those lines.

Make sure you have boot loader 2.40. or you can keep it plugged into the usb port to keep it from looping. but once you unplug it it will start again.

So just load 2.40 and then reload the new rom.

Let us know if that fixes it.

Make sure you have boot loader 2.40. or you can keep it plugged into the usb port to keep it from looping. but once you unplug it it will start again.

So just load 2.40 and then reload the new rom.

Let us know if that fixes it.
Looks like I accidentally installed the 1.20 boot loader. Unfortunately, the new version is incompatible with Vista.

Not true.

edit:
getting this error with google maps after a couple of minutes use

This program requires a data connection. Please contact your carrier, or visit www.google.com/gmm/configure.html on your computer for more info.

(Error: wininetHttpError [0 12002])

I'm getting the same error with google maps too...it's pretty annoying. I'm with telus too, maybe might be a telus thing??

I'm running dcd's 2.1.0 telus rom which seems to be pretty sweet in pretty much every way except for the few bugs and kinks...

For anyone with telus considering dcd's 6.1 with the gps radio and such here's a quick pros and cons list:

Pros:
-6.1 is significantly faster than 6.0
-GPS which makes the titan even more useful than it already is!
-EVDO rev-A
-Seemingly less memory leakage
-Much snappier dialing (the delay between tapping the number on the touchscreen and the number actually showing up and making the tone used to really bug me)

Cons:
-Takes quite some time, work and troubleshooting to get up and running(especially if you've got a vista64 machine).
-Less free ram at boot (which isn't really an issue and has no effect on performance).
-Gmail bug. not a big issue really...
-Google maps data error as specified above (may not be relevant and might be carrier specific...or maybe something on google's end)
-Pocket IE runs jerky while downloading web pages
-slightly decreased battery life (possible due to my usage, GPS, etc.)

damn dcd, what a great start of 2008, do you now consider this one a worthy upgrade of 1.6.10? :)

if youre using 1.6 for stability, i would still say no as its still 3.16 based and the 3.27.00 radio is starting to look like it has some problems. i'll consider updating the 1.x series.

live search one of them but like I said it happens here and there I was trying to d/l off ppcgeeks ftp with total comander it was office 6.1 and it hung about 5 times. maybee its a vzw thing with the new radio.

I have the VZW and I have not gotten any problems downloading or streaming. That being said that maybe because I use my WIFI connection instead of the data. I dont know if it would matter, but it works great with WIFI.

Believe it or not, I can help you out with this one!

I am in no manner an expert, but I had the same issue and got it fixed. In the meantime I was having a nervous breakdown thinking I had broken my damn phone! Took me about 20min of screwing with it and then 15min of searching to find the fix.

The problem is that you loaded the ROM before the new RADIO. Which I KNOW the radio rom page says to do, since it says if you do it in that order you wont lose you MSDN info and such. However the problem is that the phone wont boot without the radio. So here is what you do:

Hold the Power + Camera button at the same time and hit the soft reset button on the bottom. This will load the phone in bootloader mode allowing it to recognize your USB connection. Then just load the radio rom onto the phone and it will boot up just fine!

For public information...

After repeated testing, I found out that (at least my version of) 6.1 doesnt seem to prefer SPB Pocket Plus 4.x nor the "Data Always Connected" option through Schaps Advanced Configurator 2.0.

With either of these installed, the device boots and you recieve the Ev icon but the tower to the right has the icon that represents no service and you cannot access the phone portion of your device. I hard reset my device (5) times and each of these 5 after installing either the device began to freeze/no service...

I have SPB installed with no problems other than it taking a while to connect to the tower (20 min). Once on the tower, no locking up or any other problems. I do not have the today portion of SPB active, as I am using HTC home. That could be the issue? Try turning it off and see if it still locks up.

first off DCD awesome roms, overall been super pleased and the effort and responsiveness is great.

This is more of a question, with 2.1 and 2.2 I have had a few instances where Bluetooth turns off. I know in a couple of instances was on DC Metro. Was wondering if roaming could cause this and if so would the HLR Reload be advised?

Secondly, I know some people have had issue with OBEX file transfer. I tried also and it is not coming up as available. I don't normally use, but hey why not try. So, dcd if you have any suggestion, files to try,etc... I'm game to try them.

Thanks

I am using dcd's 2.2.0 Rom (great job dcd!) with the 3.27 radio and I have PDANet.

So far the consensus is that the 3.27 radio is the cause for the random/regular internet connection drops. Another symptom of the 3.27 radio while web browsing is incomplete downloads (connections need frequent refreshing to complete page loads, etc).

I'm keeping the radio for now because I'm enjoying the gps and rev a (despite the drops/hang-ups).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but everyone keeps talking about the new 3.27 Radio having Rev A. I know it has the GPS, but I thought Rev A wasn't coming out until the offical HTC/Sprint March release of the ROM. I've done several speedtest through speakeasy and dslreports. I usually get 1200kbps down and 50 to 70kbps upload. I would think rev A upload speeds should be anywhere from 175 to 300 kbps upload.

Wow...DCD at the rate your going we will be flashing Rom 5.9 by next sunday! LOL
Excellent work!

From reading through this thread I would have to agree with some users here and I think we are going to find that most of our issues are with the Radio 3.27 not DCD's roms specifically...

I read somewhere that Sprint and HTC had to delay the REV A update due to issues with the REV A part and we may have finally found out what that issue was with the stalled and lost connections bugs.

If you look at the laundry list of Bug reports about the new rom releases they all (with the exception of user flashing errors) seem centralized around the radio (IE: long init of GPS, Lost Connections, etc...).

I get the feeling we will need to see a Radio 3.28 or 3.3 before all of these bugs will go away.

Oh okay, I figured it was something with the radio. That kind of kills it for me, since I tether alot and I'd rather have the working internet instead of GPS (have a bluetooth one) and Rev A (probably not in my area).

change it to exe.

Also, has anyone else noticed that a generic usb cable will come up with unknown device in bootloader mode while using the one supplied with the phone allows bootloader to switch to usb mode?

DCD, on 2.0b, I noticed that the batt icon at the top didn't appear until I had restarted the phone about 4 times or so - I wasn't restarting for this and just happened to observe that the screen changed at boot up. Don't rename to .exe. .php is a file type used for webpages and will not contain the data you want, renaming it to .exe will only give you an error that it is not a valid Win32 application.

@ dahlem If the file size of download2 is approximately 38MB then you CAN rename it to .exe and it will probably work. I'm guessing that something is funky with FileShEx and that's why it is not downloading properly.

Install a registry editor, and search the registry for "ShowTitleBarClock" or navigate to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\. A value of 1 for this key will enable the clock in the titlebar (and remove it from the today screen) and turn off the battery icon. A value of 0 will enable the battery icon in the titlebar, and move the clock to the date line on the today screen.

I had this issue with the Verizon ROM, but I played along with some settings and OBEX worked. What I had to do is not only go to the connections settings and enable the receive all incoming beams tab for BEAM. Then turn on your bluetooth on the BLUETOOTH settings. The tricky thing is that OBEX didnt work when I did this UNTIL I whent into the commanger and enabled BEAM from there and it worked from there. My computer was able to send files to my phone and I was able to send files back.

Hope this works out for you.:D

dcd,

I've looked at your xip port and it seems you're missing initvmmap.exe and some other new features, any reason you didn't port these over? I ported them over and it seems to make a difference

yeah, i have only done coredll so far. if you remember i was unable to port the 19716 kernel and so i took it one by one this time and have not gone any further.

is initvmmap part of msxipkernel? i didnt notice it yet actually.. edit: i see... did you port all of msxipkernel then? or just these and coredll? i had begun moving all of them, and hit a couple that i assumed were incompatible to our device when it didnt boot..

It seems that the TCPMP + FlashVideoBundle combo has stopped working with 2.2.0, but it was working for me with 2.1.0. The symptom is when you click a link to a vid on a supported vid site (google, youtube, etc.) you should see a box appear in PIE that gives you the option to play the vid, then TCPMP takes over and plays it. With 2.2.0 that box never appears in PIE.

I tested with many of the "video sites" the bundle installs, so I don't think the sites themselves have changed. I've read the same issue is occurring with no2chem's latest WM 6.1 build rom (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=176570), so I guess the current differences in their XIP's isn't the issue either. I wonder what else changed that would affect this? PIE itself? Does it rely on java, and did java change at all between 2.1.0 and 2.2.0?

The necessary files are attached to this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1879989)and the install instructions are here (http://discussion.treocentral.com/showpost.php?p=1319431&postcount=1), if anyone else would like to test.

Can anyone else duplicate the problem with HTCCube with 2.2.0. Everything in the cube works fine except the side with the 9 favorite contacts. NOTHING on that side works. You can scroll left and right to the other sides of the cube, and can minimize, but nothing on the side responds to any touches whatsoever. I'm using an XV6800 with the vzw 2.2.0 rom. That, along with the top bar problem at boot are the only two issues I have found thus far.

I'm sure dcd just kept the stock wm6.1 theme instead of making a custom today screen with the vzw logo at the bottom, that's all.

I would think rev A upload speeds should be anywhere from 175 to 300 kbps upload.

do you know if have the towers in your area been upgraded to Rev A?

i have 2.20 installed and its working fine with flash video bundle

Very strange. I just reflashed 2.0.0, installed TCPMP, associated it with all files, ran FlashVideoBundle.cab from within \Program Files\TCPMP, soft reset, and it still won't popup the options box in PIE. Do you have any other software installed on the 2.2.0 rom besides TCPMP and the bundle (Flash Lite, Flash Player, etc.)? What vid site are you checking with?

Thanks for the help!

It must be your particular cable. I've flashed to more than 20 ROMs with a different USB cable than the OEM one, and have never had a problem.

I flashed this new ROM last night, and I must say it is much snappier than WM6.0. However, I am unable to adjust my backlight setting. Is anybody else sharing this problem?

I haven't had any problem adjusting my backlight, but I did notice something different.

I usually adjust my backlight with a 3rd party plugin icon on the today screen, but when I went in to the backlight settings in the system settings, I noticed that the levels seemed to be moved up a notch. i.e. the lowest setting was brighter than it used to be and the brightest setting seemed to be a bit brighter than before. In previous ROMs when I chose the lowest setting the backlight behind the harware buttons would go off and unless you were in a dim room, it was very difficult to see the screen. Well, not anymore.

Anyone else notice this?

4th February 2008, 10:14 PM

Today I started over again and it went perfect. I don't think SPL 2.4 loaded correctly the first time. Because when I flashed the ROM it said 2.4 olipro, but when I got to the Radio flash it said 1.1 again.

DCD 2.2 working good so far. Have had a few lockups, but I think it's some of these free GPS apps I've loaded. Taking them off now.

yeah, i have only done coredll so far. if you remember i was unable to port the 19716 kernel and so i took it one by one this time and have not gone any further.

is initvmmap part of msxipkernel? i didnt notice it yet actually.. edit: i see... did you port all of msxipkernel then? or just these and coredll? i had begun moving all of them, and hit a couple that i assumed were incompatible to our device when it didnt boot..

are you getting CE OS 5.2.18128 from coredll? edit: i should have taken xip from vodafone, my 18128 came from bepe hermes dev 2.1..

if you want to save yourself some time, I uploaded my XIP into the same place you found it last time. Its a complete port with everything from 19199. - initvmmap and some other new dlls were in the MSXIPKERNEL dir, everything in msxipkernel should be compatible.

I install everything from my sd card, to the device.

Problem solved, that was a good hint, thanks!

I'd seen it recommended to always run the FlashVideoBundle.cab from \Program Files\TCPMP, so that's the way I'd been doing it since I got my xv6800, and with all the subsequent rom versions I've flashed (many). I don't have an sd card, but I decided to try running the .cab from \My Documents, soft reset, now everything's working again.

I went back and forth running the .cab from both locations, and it works 100% of the time when run from \My Documents, 0% of the time when run from \Program Files\TCPMP (following a soft reset after each try).

I know that neither TCPMP nor FlashVideoBundle.cab have changed, what could have possible changed in the rom from 2.1.0 to 2.2.0 to cause this? Very strange...

I used tcpmp and the latest bundle and they work great

Would I be right to bet you're not running the .cab from \Program Files\TCPMP ...?

yes, it is a bit different - are you shifting everything up? Yesterday I had a discussion with cmonex and you shouldn't go beyond 4000000, so try shifting everything down instead. Hey talyn wanna share that OEM?? Is there a initflashes.txt in the OEM??

Not sure if I did something goofy or wrong or didn't notice on 2.1, but after upgrading to 2.2 my connection drops from EVDO to 1x after connecting. I had unlocked with 2.40 Oli, ran the 2.1 update then the 3.27 radio update 2 days ago and didn't notice the problem. Tonight the only thing I ran was the 2.2 update and notice the slowwwwww connection now for data... Anyone have an idea? Been a long day, appreciate "another set of eyes" for a suggestion...

What PRL are you showing? I know my evidence is anecdotal but my phone has all kinds of issues whenever I have used 60611. After downgrading back to 60610 everything seems to level back out. It shouldn't make a difference but with Sprint you never know :D

what's the deal with having no voicemail icons ANYWHERE? it's like voicemail doesn't exist. I loved having one button to push and it was automatically dialing me in to get my messages.

If you go to your dialer, you'll see a voicemail button overlayed on top of the "1" key.

not what I'm looking for. in the settings > today > items list there should be a voicemail option to check/uncheck. I don't have the option and can't figure out how to get it there. While I'm at it...a battery meter would be nice too.

Can these just be unlocked with registry edits?

Hey DCD, I'm still getting no BT OBEX love from this and I've tested it quite extensively. :(

I still dig the ROM, but if you still wanna pm me a link for that other version of the ROM (Sprint), I'd love to give 'er a go. No rush, I know you've got _tons_ of other stuff on your plate, heh.

Thanks again!

Have you got the latest FlashVideoBundle v1.4.4? I attached it and the correct version of TCPMP to a post a few pages back.

Ok, I kind of kloodged together a manual install with a .reg file I created, and some manual file copies, for the Sprint Java, at first it didn't work right (didn't install/run midlets properly), so I did an erase of all the midlets within the Manager, soft reset, and turned off the read only attribute on all the files I manually copied.

Anyways, it works now, but it's not really ready for distribution. If someone is interested in the files I used and wants to make a .CAB, or for some other reason, let me know.

99% of the time you're better off using JBed (already in CAB form floating around in lots of places), the only reason to use the Sprint Java (jeodek) is that it supports the internal GPS for Java apps.

I upgraded to the 2.2 version. Is the "XIP to 19199" a new version that DCD hasn't posted yet? I can't tell.

I second this question. It's hard to tell if the XIP problem was before the update to the official 6.1 aku.

It must be your particular cable. I've flashed to more than 20 ROMs with a different USB cable than the OEM one, and have never had a problem.

same here. i lost my original cable day one and used the one that came with my cannon camera and the one that came with my wd portable hard drive to flash.

Have the media file associations been fixed in this release??
i never "fixed" that - but it was a problem in the source i used for wm6.1 beta, this came from different source, so i would assume its fine.

Just wondering if DCD/someone else could port a Telus version of 2.2.0.... I'm really looking forward to flashing this, but nothing has been uploaded yet, and no mention of an ETA.
guys, chill :) im busy. to be honest, i update too frequently to have to upload 5x50mb files each time, but ill keep doing it if youll be patient :)

ill make you a stock comm manager version tonight. what leads you to beleive the commmanager is the culprit?

what in the world does "19199 xip" mean?

the operating system basically consists of 2 parts:

the kernel is contained in xip and is what you see in "CE OS 5.2.XXXX"
SYS is contained in imgfs and is what you see in "Build 19199.1.0.0"

if you dont know the difference in xip and imgfs...dont lose sleep over it... just know that replacing components of the xip is far more difficult than imgfs.

so what we are talking about here is what I have updated. SYS in 2.2.0 is comprised of:
Packages from the leaked vodaphone Kaiser rom, 19199.1.0.0
WindowsLive from 18128.0.4.5
wpctsc from some older build, aku 0.3.0

the windowslive and wpctsc (remote desktop) did not come with the wm6.1 rom so i threw in copies from other sources.

The kernel in 2.2.0 is your same old sprint 3.16 XIP, with coredll.dll brought up to CE OS 5.2.18128. The vodaphone rom contained CE OS 5.2.19199. I still need to bring this up to date. However, the wm6.1 kernel contains a couple new features, and gives me more trouble to port. So, for the time being, we will use no2chems completed XIP when I get it put into my build (his is the entire WM6.1 core - not just coredll.dll by itself)

hope this clears things up...

This is probably going to make me look stupid, but did you check to see if the "Recieve all incoming beams" option was checked? Its under "Start", "Settings", "Connections" "Beam". I'm sure you guys have already thought of it and I know I'm way in over my head. I'm not sure what OBEX means, but I couldn't recieve any beams via BT or IR until I checked that box.

okay. that makes TONS more sense. So once this is updated (unless it already is), it wont change much to the user experience, just background components are more up to date... gotcha:D

Just a heads up
I ran Pocket Mechanic's Registry Cleaner. It found 43 keys, and i figured they were all bad and deleted them. Now my phone no longer plays mp3 ring tones, or mp3 event reminders. Prob broke the file association of mp3. The nice thing is PM - RC does not include an undo button, or history or anything. So a reflash is necessary (since i dont want a redo of the registry since i have apps on there and all).

DO NOT RUN (AND AUTO FIX ALL ERRORS) POCKET MECHANIC'S REGISTRY CLEANER ON 2.2.0!!!!!

right on. The ROM of yours i am already using seems pretty quick, but faster always gives me that warm fuzzy feeling. :)

FYI - i have noticed one of my apps has a memory leak. I am trying to narrow it down and so far it seems like Windows Live Search when i use the GPS chews up my memory over the course of the day. I dont have anything special on my 6800, just HTC Home and Worms World Party (and Windows Live). So, i am not going to use Windows Live today and see how she does.

Also, i noticed that in this ROM, the alarm not going off when plugged in bug is gone, and thats excellent!
