Just got my Orbit II with CoPilot 7 but it will not install correctly. It just hangs, saying that it is integrating. I dont think i'm the only one, so does anyone have a solution?

Did you get it with 02? If that's the case you need to put the SD Card in and then let the device configure itself. I didn't have to install CoPilot it was done automatically for me.

Other than that, I would just suggest a backup and hard reset.

Hi,
I had the same problem.

I ordered the Orbit II with Copilot and when it turned up there were 2 boxes.

Box 1 had - phone etc, 1Gb memory card with copilot s/w on along with registration card and cd with Copilot central, car charger, car cradle.

Box 2 had - 1Gb card with copilot s/w on along with registration card and cd with Copilot central, car charger, car cradle.

When I put the memory card from Box 1 in I got the same problem with it freezing on Integrating Updates.

The Memory card from Box 2 worked OK.

Looking at whats on the 2 cards I can see thet Autorun is missing from the directory 2577 on the card from Box 1. There could also be other files missing.

It seems strange to me to get 2 lots of copilot but it looks like the one in the box with the phone is not complete.

That's interesting. I also received a 2nd set of MicroCD, cradle, car charger, activation code, etc. It appears that the folks on O2's Corporate Affinity hot line don't know that the handset already comes bundled with Copilot and all the accessories.

I paid £61+VAT for the phone (upgrade from Orbit 1) and £31+VAT for Copilot. £36 seems reasonable for software and accessories, so I'll install it on my old phone and give it to the wife.

BTW, I've had no issues with CoPilot, both 1GB cards worked fine and so does the 2GB card that I transferred from my old orbit.

Well I got one large box with two boxes inside. One contained the handset, booklets etc and the other contained a cradle. I only received 1 SD card and like already mentioned there is no 'autorun'. I tried downloading it again using the CP7 disc supplied but there was no difference.
I've mailed copilot but as of yet no response.
Maybe I'm just an idiot as I'm struggling to put the craddle together :p

There are two boxes but all are part of a package. Mine was installed already so I didn't have to install anything i.e. it worked out of the box.

I do remember it asking me whether it should run the 02 setup thing though, maybe that installed it for me.

I have again tried to download the correct file/CAB but still I can't install CP7

Cab files for installation should be located in the '2577' directory under the root of the microSD card. You should be able to browse to this directory in explorer and double tap on the 'copilot.wm6ppc.cab' file to install.

I had trouble putting the cradle together as well - though I was going to snap it but in the end went together ok.

I also had the problem with co-pilot freezing. However, I had tomtom on my HTC Wizard so have installed that instead. However, i've read that it might be something to do with certain directories being read-only. Backing up the card and then reformating (using a card reader and pc) then copying back the files has worked for some people.

Hello Peeps...

I also had the so called 'integrating updates' message....sorted out the problem....but personally i think it can be done in an easier way....

Today I went to the alk website for downloading Safety Camera update as for some reason mine was not activated. There I found a link to download the updated version.

For peeps who want all the answers here....click on the link for the file
http://www.alk.eu.com/files/v7/safetycam.zip

Also found out that the file safetycam.ezp which was supposed to be in \Storage Card\Copilot\EU\save was in \Storage Card\Copilot\save. Anyways I just downloaded the zip file and saves it in \Storage Card\Copilot\EU\save. Disconnected USB connection, clicked on Copilot to run again and Mwah! it says integrating updates......BUT THIS TIME it did work and now I have my safety cameras also.

Let me know if you still have problems and I will post what I had to do to rectify the fault. The reason I am not posting that is because of the lengthy procedure and above is a hunch which one of you can try......do not worry....if you have the DVD for the copilot every file can be restored in the microsdcard.

If you are having problems with it hanging on the "Integrating Update" screen, try soft resetting the Orbit II, browsing to \SD\CoPilot\EU\Save and deleting all the files starting with AO (AO*.*) and ENCRYPT.DAT. Does this get you passed the "Integrating Update" message?

If not, try deleting AO*.*, ENCRYPT.DAT and the two files starting with POCKETGPS*.* and then re-launch CoPilot. Does this work?

Well, still no reply from ALK support and O2 don't know what to do either about the problem. I just dont know where else to go as this has me beaten at the moment. What I cant understand is why this problem would not effect every O2 Orbit II device if its a software/compatibility issue. I'm wondering if there has been a dodgy batch of installations on some SD Cards.

tried your technique Kutts 123 but still got the dreaded message.

Co Pilot Rules:- Deleted all files starting with AO*.* There was not a file titled ENCRYPT.DAT in the directory. Also with the Pocketgps files removed, it did not work

MusicArt1st, so even after deleting the AO*.* files and POCKETGPS*.*, do you still get the "Integrating Update" message and it hanging there?

Can you describe what you're seeing?

If it's still hanging either on the CoPilot splash screen, or on the Integrating message then either the micro-SD is corrupted or the ROM is corrupted.

I would suggest you try:-

1) Uninstall CoPilot from SETTINGS | REMOVE PROGRAMS
2) Soft Reset
3) Verify your date/time is set correcting on the Orbit II
4) Install CoPilot from \Windows\copilot.wm6ppc.cab
5) Delete \SD\CoPilot\EU\Save\POCKET*.* and SAFETY*.*

If that fails try to
1) Re-format micro-SD as FAT32 in Windows using a card reader
2) Download Quickstart using Central DVD

If that doesn't work try
1) Perform a hard reset on the Orbit II which will re-install CoPilot with a clean ROM image (but you will lose any data or contacts you've put into the Orbit II)
http://www.hardreset.eu/htc_touch_cruise_polaris_hard_reset_soft_reset.htm l

It sounds like either the ROM is corrupted or maybe the micro-SD card is corrupted.

Let me know if any of the above fixes it

I just bought one today and had the same problem. However a quick search brought up the following forum
http://www.4winmobile.com/forums/htc-polaris/14336-o2-orbit-ii-copilot-7-problem.html

Last response provides instructions on how to get it working. Appears that there is something corrupt on the card and requires formatting.

You then need to download the maps. A little long winded but it does work.

I think I've gone and blown it now. Copied the files from the SD Card and then re-formatted it to FAT32. Went to transfer the files back and would you believe it... I have managed to permanently delete the folder 2577 and its contents. Went to the CP disc and found the maps which are a staggering 244MB.
I wonder what to do next other than throw my toys out the pram.. and I'm not even able to create an account with ALK as I apparently dont have an internet connection???? may be the ALK servers are down or something? I dont suppose anyone would be able to share the contents of the CP SD card for me to try again. I dont think tht would infringe on any copyright issues as I have my licence?

Thanks to you all for helping me this far

Don't copy the files back.

Go into the Copilot central on your PC. Make sure you have registered and go to the create a map tab. Then select country from the left. Select your country - I presume UK and Ireland. Then you will be asked where to save the maps etc. Make sure you have the memory card in a reader attached to your pc and you should be able to select it from a drop down. This should add all the files and folders you need.

Also, you will need to go to their site to download the camera sites file.

Hi Folks. I've used CoPilot since V4, and actually had V7 European maps which I had bought from ALK. When I went to transfer the system to my new Orbit 2, instead of the red CoPilot splash screen, I got a blue O2 one - now note - I hadn't put either of the cards supplied by O2 into my Orbit! So somehow, some of the program must be pre-installed. I also suffered the same integrating updates problem the rest of you have had, but also a silly problem which ALK had been investigating on my old Orbit 1. Eventually, I told ALK that my installation must be corrupted, and I wanted to do a clean install. I removed CoPilot from the Orbit 2, using 'Remove Programs', and then reformatted a spare 2Gb card in a reader. (Don't do this in your PDA, or it will take forever.)Then go to CoPilot Central, and follow these instructions:
http://www.alk.eu.com/files/manuals/V7ppc-DDW.pdf
This allows either Uk, or European maps to be downloaded onto your card.
Now install the card into your Orbit 2, and CoPilot should start. When mine did, I was back to the original red splash screen, and all problems were fixed. Active Sync your PDA, and log into CoPilot Central again. There ais a new speed camera database available, some new voices, and a new theme. All these will download on request, and install. Start up CoPilot on your PDA, you will see 'Integrating Updates' and then everything will be installed properly.
I suspect from my experiences, that perhaps the memory cards supplied MAY be corrupted somehow, but also that O2 are 'interfering' with the normal, clean installation, and that may be having some bad effect too - don't forget that my CoPilot installation was turned into some 'O2 Partner' version without any new card being even near my Orbit 2.
Hope this helps...

At last, I've got it working, so many thanks to all those who contributed to this post.

What I did was format the sd card then opened up the CP central and installed the maps from there onto the card. I tapped the CP logo on the Orbit and hey presto it worked. I must point out that I was not able to create an account from CP central as it stated there was no internet connection (but there was).
CP7 must be pre installed on the device itself.

Thanks All

Many thanks for your advice! I was one of the unfortunate ones with the same "integration" problem. When I phoned up o2 helpline, they said it's not their problem! So now I've got the program up and running, except it's having a hard time locating me! Well, another problem for me to work out.

I don't know if you could help me with this one, but my box came with one 1gb microsd card. In the instruction booklet it says that it should come with the adapter to mini and regular SD, but this was not included in my little plastic case! I was just wondering if its standard, or just me having an unlucky run! Thanks in advance.

I received mine today, and I don't have the SD card adapter either. I also have the stuck on "integration" problem too.

I'm sending mine back because it has a black dust/dirt spec under the screen lense. I expect I'll have to pay the postage to return it too. Not a good start to porting over from Orange

Like most of the rest of the world, I found that Co-Pilot would start to install but not work. My problems started when it asked me to enter a language - but gave me no options to choose from.

Three things helped me to solve this, but I still don't know which was the most important:

1) I contacted ALK who got back to me within 24 hours, and suggested a hard reset. When I told them this didn't work they asked me to return the card for a replacement.

2) When the replacement arrived, I copied the entire contents onto a larger 4Gb card

3) I did another hard reset, and made sure that Co-Pilot was the VERY FIRST THING I loaded onto my Orbit2 (before launching the phone, changing the settings or anything).

Everything is now fine. But - what a marathon to launch one programme.
