I have searched already and haven't found reviews of the new cooked and stock roms out there that we all use and love. If your flash happy like myself you would love to here unbiased reviews of the roms and I don't mean whats in the exisiting threads for each rom that have complaints, rants, and flaming. If anyone else would like to jump on this please let me know or just start reviewing the roms yourselves and the mods will hopefully start a sticky for reviews. Thanks and to all the great chefs keep up the good work.

dutty's roms are quite nice. They've got the basics. You'll probably need to install a few things for personal needs, but not too much.
For example, I always install HTC's Task manager. But he took it out since some people liked the WKTask (eww).
I've tried a few random others, and some pack in too many apps

I'd like to be able to stick with a ROM for long enough to be able to do a full review
Agreed, Duttys v4 felt nice but I changed to Q-Mobile because I was having problems with bluetooth on the v4 rom.... After playing around with the Q-Mobile rom I don't actually think that the BT problem was caused by duttys rom.
Q-Mobile is nice and clean but I've had problems installing some stuff, again might not be anything to do with the ROM and it may well be the user and or the cabs at fault ;)
What I'd really like is to try out a WM6.1 rom to see if the new network drivers sort out my wifi problem but Im really unsure as to which is the best, hopefully some people will post their thoughts on 6.1 roms in here.

duttys are typically the more favored... but recently i think sleuth stole the spotlight back with wm6.1 v3.0 it is faster than a cheetah on steroids

Roms depends on user needs Some people like fancy stuff. Like duttys one and some others with dual touch, cube etc.... And some people are professional they want fast, effective. I am in love with sleuth rom. I didnt have to install separate radio, separate java bla blah. Everything working out of the box working fine. Some people have issues like skype and core player. But they are problem with all 6.1 version.

I would of LOVED sleuth's wm 6.1 v3.0 if the audiomanager worked :( There were a few other small things, such as how to disable threaded sms, without killing the notifications (I didn't really like the threaded smsing, but I got enough smses that if I didn't get a notification it would mean lots of missed smses)
I spent the last 10 hours or so flashing different roms onto my phone, I've went back to Q-mobile 1.2 =/
If you don't mind the threaded sms and don't use audiomanager (I installed mortplayer to compensate) I'd suggest Sleuth's 3.0 6.1 rom.

I've tried just about every rom here and I keep going back to Q-Mobile 1.2.

I love dutty's customizations, but I have to agree that Quentin's are the most polished. I have tried almost all of them and have settled on Quentin's Q-Mobile 1.2 for now (with a lot of my own customizations of course). :)

I am using an ATT Tilt version in the US, I have tried many of the current roms (to me some were more well done than I like, Some were not stable or under done) I like 3 roms
WM 6.1 - I like Austinsync's rom and Sleuth 3.0
WM 6.0 - I like Q-Mobile 1.2 (Sorry have not tried any others but the Sleuth version is probably good there too)
Cheers

For now, I'm staying away from the 6.1 roms (I have a feeling that "for now" will change to "right now" once dutty's new one is released) but I've been using dutty's V4 since the day it was released and I love it. It's very fast and has everything you need.
...for now. :D

Haze,
I would say give Dutty a couple of days, or a week at the most, and he will release his newest flavor. The beta testers have worked really hard to get a perfect ROM to the community. You will be pleasantly surprised at the result. One thing you should know. Dutty has been building a WM6.1 ROM without a phone much like Schap's does which is quite amazing.

why do they both do it without phones? Did their phones break or are they using other ones? Anyways I like Q-Mobile 1.2 but I received a lot of error messages I didn't get on other roms. Sleuths is good also but a little too clean for my liking. Downloading Dutty v4 now hopefully this is a winner until his 6.1

Dutty's phone bricked and Schap's has never had a device.

I have 2 devices, 1 with dutty's WM6.1 and the other is Sleuth 3.0's WM6.1. Both are great in their respected fields. I think dutty's is the most organized of the two. Speed wise Sleuth is ahead but thats also due to a larger page file.

Sleuth 3.0's WM6.1 rocks!
Tried Alex 6.1 but have no luck with no-sound problem.
Switched to Sleuth 3.0 and I stay so far.
Waiting for new version of dutty. I hope secret testing policy will help here (?)

I think it would be awesome if Dutty made a clean version of 6.1 along with his regular version. I hate having all kinds of extra programs that I'm never use.

Sleuth's 6.1 is at 32MB and it's very fast and responsive. No issues with battery life. I'm on the 2nd full decharge right now. 1st run died at about 452 with bluetooth on in a E area. Dutty's default is 24 if i'm not mistaken. dutty's has the best battery life so far. I'll make a better report when i wake up, 2am here and I need to be in the office at 8. Night all

I am using the same ROM with page pool size changed to 50mb, for some time now and I can say that it is a wonderful ROM, stable, fast and well put together. The S2U2 drains the battery but once disabled battery life becomes normal.

I tried and liked Sleuth 3.0's WM6.1 ROM, as well as other 6.1 ROM's.
But I use Skype a lot and it seems to have a problem with 6.1.
I have gone back to Dutty's v3 final and will wait till the bugs in 6.1 are fixed.
I have found Dutty's ROM's to be to my liking. No offense to other cooks, it is just my personal preferences.
This may change when later 6.1 ROM's are released...:)

Its all about personal preference. I'm noticing the major difference between ROM's is the packages/programs the cooks put into the ROM. They way the customized it. They almost all use the same/similar registry tweaks, and registry tweaks can be applied to any ROM.
The thing difference I look most for for me lies in the base/core the cook chose to use. For instance Sleuth's WM6.1 v3 ROM uses the 3.02 HTC TyTN II build for its core, somebody asked why not 3.03 and Sleuth responded 3.02 was much faster. He even addressed/fixed some well known 3.02 bug. So he's using a modified/patched 3.02 core. Laurentius26's L26 WM 6.1 ROM (v3.0) is based on Vodafones WM6.1 release. Not sure if it's been patched or enhanced (other than registry hacks) in any way. Not sure what Dutty's WM6.1 ROM is based on.
I'm about to try Alex's 6.1 beta 2 tonight, I've already tried Dutty's WM6.1 Beta ROM (before he closed it to the public, I think it was release 2, where he removed the time bomb) and I've tried Sleuths WM6.1 v3. So far there are bits and pieces I like from both. I guess it's true, the best ROM is the one you make yourself :-) Supposedly there's a major speed difference between Sleuth and Dutty's ROM but I guess from my perspective, I haven't noticed too much, at least it wasn't major enough for me to notice. Could be a bad flash though or all the software I eventually end up installing.

I really loved Sleuth's ROM but I was getting some random continuous vibrating issue. Not everyone gets this, so I guess my tilt was just wierd. That was the only kicker for me.
So now I'm trying the udK 7.0 R0 Vega - WWE WM 6.1 and I can truly say that this thing is FAST and SIMPLE. He didn't include a whole lot of programs in the actual ROM, which is great, because I can customize the phone as I like. Also, as far as I know, this ROM doesn't have any wierd quirks, but I'll test it out some more.

As another "junior" I've loaded 2 of Alex's ROMS, latest is v5lite, I think mainly because of such good documentation made it easy for me to do. Maybe as I get "older" (k, accomplished that) and am no longer a "junior" I'll understand some of the other ROM chefs meals and load them. Even with a EE and Pgmr background I still get confused... plus I know how hard the chefs have to cook to get these great results, and really appreciate their effort - and donate, they have earned it.
I learned long ago on then PC1 upgrading the programs I was using ever week lead to poor productivity, so I tend to pick one and stick with it for a while
