OK, I've looked into this issue further with the proxy settings mysteriously disappearing after connecting with Activesync.

Even though this is a sure way to have your proxy settings disappear from your connection settings I can get it to happen without Activesync too. Make sure your phone isn't connected to the PC.

The first thing I do is enter my T-Mobile proxy settings for the T-MobileWeb hack.

1. Click Start->Settings->Connections Tab->Connections
2. Under T-Mobile Data, click "Set up my proxy server"
3. Check the box that says "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet"
4. In the textbox under Proxy server, enter 216.155.165.50
5. Click Advanced, then click on the HTTP Proxy
6. Change the HTTP Proxy port to 8080
7. Click OK to exit the HTTP Proxy screen
8. Click OK to exit the Advanced screen
9. Click OK to exit the T-Mobile Data Proxy Settings screen
10. Click OK to exit the Connections settings screen
11. Click X to go back to the HTC Home screen or Today screen (whichever you want to call it)

Next, I just go back and forth between the main HTC Home screen and back to the Proxy Settings screen a few of times. Sometimes the Proxy settings will have mysteriously disappeared, and sometimes not. It does not seem to be consistent.

This is really annoying, and does not seem to be a problem with WM6, but only WM6.1. I've heard of a few others having this same issue, but I have yet to find anyone on XDA, Howard Forums, Microsoft's Windows Mobile Forums, or "Google Search" that have found a solution to the issue.

I have found a few links that seem to pertain to this issue, but nothing seems to work. Here are a few links about this issue:

Thanks for the help. Is one version more stable than the other? also, will i need to download any keyboard tweaks, or any other fixes if I'm using this ROM with the Wing? Oh yeah, one more thing.. Have you tried the OpenTouch 4.0 Vista ROM? If so, which ROM is more stable the ASERG or OpenTouch?

I've had no problems with that.

Try adding it to the exclusions list in your AV. I use AVG AV and it didn't have any issues with the file. or maybe even exclude the file ext all together for the rom images.

OR Shut down real time monitoring while you do this then turn it back on

Is it possible to get danish keyboard working on this ROM? I've only got the onscreen keyboard to be danish by applying a patch, the slide out keyboard is still english :( I tried to switch it to swedish using the advanced config and reboot, but it looks like it remained english.

This was really dumb of me. Installing the WMP OCX cab (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=76410&d=1205860692)from the S2P thread fixed the issue. It was that simple

I got completely misled by the error because I thought a dependant file would be missing. I started with the dependency walker on AYGSHELL.DLL and thought there might be a different version out there that S2P needs.

I did not think Aserg's rom had an OCX problem so did not bother to start there. When I dug into the cab, it was only setting a skin.

I think the issue has to do with the registry setting of the landscape skin. Anyway, installing the so called WMP OCX fix resolves this issue.

HOORAY - now I have the ultra speedy Aserg ROM with the full suite of S2XX programs.

I have the same error. I totally love this ROM but I miss S2P on my S2U2 screen.

Did anyone find a fix? There was a mention on S2P forum that perhaps its Dutty WMP skins http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2128187&postcount=858.

I am not sure if that is the culprit.

Congratulations and a big thank you for this fantastic ROM. With constant crashes and random errors with the default ROM i was worried i would need a new phone but your ROM sorted me right out :)

Quick question: Are you planning to integrate some of the new features of the HTC Diamond when you get a chance? I don't know how much of the new software could be back ported given how radically different the hardware is...

In ROM is present BatteryStatus, already adjusted on dynamic dispersal. It is necessary simply correctly to them to take advantage.

I dont know why but i have the same issue, i was using open touch but due to stability issues and tried this

just got a brand new wing with radio 2.83.90 with rom version 4.10.531.3. From what i have read i need to use hard-spl unlocker 4.70 and then run the english version of this rom. i have an alltel ppc 6800 and with mine i have to download the nbh file and then transfer to the ruu folder and run the romupdate utility folder. will this be the same or can i just download the rom and unlock the phone and run the rom update from the bootloader screen? thnx in advance

If it's HardSPL'ed, just run it from either the bootloader or from windows. (It will automatically kick you back to the bootloader anyways.)

The radio won't be any issue. The SPL and IPL you currently have will be the issue if they're lower than 4.0.0.0.

Hellow.

I've been using this room for a long time now, and i love it.
But now i need to use GPS Tuner, but the only thing working in the program is the speed, all the other values, altitude, distance, time etc are allways in 0.
The support from GPS tuner sugested that the problem migth be the room.
so i flash another room and GPS tuner did worked perfectly.
Tryed the others rooms from aserg but the proble is always the same.

Any one know why?

OK out the door its packed full of goodies. ASerg is the first I seen to totally clean up the program folder and put programs in applying folders.

On fresh bot after install phone locked up on me as I was inputting all my info . HHhhmmm lets see as I go on and use the rom some more. I send a lot of SMS/ MMS and for some reason when doing so the rom really lags.

Now for you folks who ask the same question 100 times. NO !!!!!! The MMS/SMS 1.2M hack is not working. You hear me people like robert & mda07 ........

So if you want to complain about a rom remember if you don't speak up and tell the cook what you do and don't like then don't say anything at all. The cooks here are doing this out of appreciation , admiration and love of the art of cooking. If you think it is so easy then put out your own rom.

Now remember I tested this on a t-mobile wing . A lot of these problems may not occur on all phones. So if you have a different phone please post your findings.

Rom is looking very sweet now ... He also has his own taste and flavor in his today screen. And an original install popup icon instead of the usual windows color circle.

One other note is I read through the whole thread and seen bit by bit ASerg fixed bug after bug ..... That shows dedication and a true cook.

The is a sweet rom full to the rim.. ASerg really wanted to give a person a full cup. Very little bugs, just sweet in my eyes.

The rom has a unique look and is a good addition to ASerg's collection. Enjoy folks. Another rom where I can see and hear the video in a MMS ...... ASerg made it happen.

I hope my review of this rom helps many in their questions as I tried to cover as much space as possible. If you feel something is missing please make a note of it so for future note my reviews will be as full as possible.

on the other phone i select a file (random) and choose 'beam'. The p4350 appears in the list and i select 'send' . Than it returns 'failed'.
I tried to send from several devices (touch, mteor, SE-phone) but everytime this error occurs.

I also tried sending after first pairing the devices. Same problem.

By the way, I also seem to miss my bluetooth icon in the top-row when activated.

Any suggestions ?

Well beaming worked quiet fine for me ..... Maybe a bad flash or some other program you installed is interfering .. As far as the icon I guess it wasnt cooked into the rom if you dont see it .

I thought this only applies to FIR-transfers.

Okay I currently flashed HERALD.ASerg.12.WM61E.WWE on my wing and so far loving it. One question however... I see that it has touchflo scrolling and the useless tfsettings option (yeah, yeah I know its useless caused by x button fix yada), however was curious as to if I could install a touchflo cube on it. Googled for a cab and all the threads I found said it cant be done due to a missing .dll however if it has scrolling thats the same one correct? As always any help appreciated, thank you.

Ok from what I see you have no data / edge / gprs connection at all your phone islooking for it . Also you on vibrate .

Ive got the same thing. I ran the network wizard, but cant get a data connection. In the comm manager, data connecton is greyed out and not an option at all.

really a bummer because I really like this ROM, but I'm not keeping it without being able to get on EDGE.

edit: I got it working by hitting "menu" on network wizard, then unchecking "auto detect". ran network wizard, reset and its working.

I have at problem with my screen "frezzing/locking up" now and then.
It reactes when I slide it out by routeting the screen, but only that.

when it happens I have to make at soft reset to get to work agian.

And another thing, the screen is making at high picht sounde when it's on :S

any idees ?

Thanks for modding and sharing. I have used it for a while. And I should say it is a pretty good one. Except some minor flaw, such as unable to display text msg and unable to establish bluetooth with my headset(can be paired without password, but not function).
Thank for OP and his effort. Wish you can correct these errors.

I have noticed that a lot of apps that are developed using .netcf abend on this ROM. It abends with a message

An unexpected error has occured in <applicationname>.....

An error message is available for this exception but cannot be displayed because these messages are optional and are not currently installed on this device. Please install 'NETCFv35.Messages.EN.wm.CAB' .....

I installed this but I only get prettier error messages.

The error occurs when using MONotes, WirelessTime, Nested Tasks. There isn't a strict pattern e.g. MoNotes abends on start. WirelessTime will work initially but it eventually will abend. Nested tasks crashes when entering a new nested task.

Anybody has any advice.

Finally I moved to WM6.1 from WM5 and I'm quite happy. The system doesn't really offer much new functionality (although threaded sms and phone history is not bad), it actually destroys some functions (in calendar, there's stupid greyed reply button instead of edit button and other stupid menu changes came in).
I used Aserg's v12 ROM and picked it as the best choice, because I had critical memory issues on WM5. I couldn't run applications and store messages anymore. This ROM provides 26mb of RAM and lot more ROM capacity, which is enough to hold any data I need. I actually double disk and filter cache, which causes 3mb less of memory. I believe it can help performance and I see new models have much much more of cache. I didnt want papa's ROM as it removes video filters so you cant view animated MMSs and WM videos. This ROM is already tweaked and bundled with useful tools. I experienced quite a lot of freezings (i believed causes by ActiveSync and HTCHome). I wish there was any task manager able to kill a freezing process. It's not the case. There are two task managers in ROM. The simple one can't kill a process. The sophisticated one can, but it freezes when reading of list of processes if there's such hanging one. This is how it worked before unfortunately:( So there's no way and I have to reset the device every time.

I found some small problems:
- TomTom - when you minimize it you still see its part in the place of taskbar.
- BatteryStatus - cpuscaler set to <200mhz causes Herals to produce nasty instant sound. I never underclock because of this.
- As in WM5, phoner operations (Call, Hang, Call history, picking calls, ringing) are extremely slow. Even a notification of SMS is delayed by 5 seconds (first display turns on, then vibration, then finally notification to which you cant respond immediately).

I recommend to remove these features:
- disable htchome plugin. I believe it seriously helps freezing the system. Even its extra property page freezes.
- disable phoner skin. Not only it doesn't display the graphics (whole window can become white with letters only), but removes new cool features such as localized characters support.
- improve cache with Advance Setup tool

picking calls, receiving sms is SOOO slow. processor running for 100% for so long time.. I have to reduce number of messages (3000) and hopefully it helps. Groupin so many smss (threading feature) is way too huge task for the system.

aserg smsbackup - as it is not encrypted/packed, wouldn't it better to store messages in readable format (CSV/TXT)? i archive messages not for restoral purposes (anyway mobile and OS can change easily), but just for evidence;)

well receiving sms is still absolutely slow after deleting ALL existing messages. when new sms comes, it vibrates, than after couple of seconds it rings and after 5-10 more seconds the popup message is shown. the popup is frozen for 20 seconds!! if 3 messages come at one moment, you have to wait for one minute. after that, cpu usage is 100% for another couple of minutes.

so i turned off threaded messages. doesn't help!! what's wrong with popup messages?

in the services menu i had to enable wifi so i could well use my wifi and after a restart it worked later i upgraded to a new rom, which i hated so i went back to aserg USED WIFI without enabling it in services, new rom came out again and i upgraded again went back to aserg and again used wifi without enabling the service

how is it possible that this occurs? i have even done a hard reset and wifi works without going into programs services, something must be wrong + i notice worse battery life than the initial flash of aserg 2mths ago

I have a T-Mobile Wing running the Open Touch 3.0 ROM, and I'm looking to change to this ROM. My reason is that with this ROMs, and it's predecessors have an annoying error where programs will close when you put them in the background or go another program (i.e. if i open the start menu and go back to the today screen, or go to write a text message all the programs that were running close).
Does this ROM have this problem as well, or do the programs stay open until you close them?

Just figured I'd pop in to tell you, I'm running one of your ROMs, ASERG.12.WM6.1E.WWE.

Been running it for about a week, and beating the heck out of it with some additional software loads/unloads and a TON of day to day use(works been really busy), with calls, sms, e-mail, WiFi, and GPRS use, BT of course, all the contacts/calender/alarms etc crap that makes these devices so useful for work stuff, and playing some games etc :D

It's been rock solid, no hiccups, no freezes, and every feature on the phone just plain works. I flashed it from the T-mobile Wing ROM, and have so much more memory open, and so much more functionality, it's just amazing. Honestly, this is about the cleanest, most solid ROM, I've ever done right out of the box.

Only real mild critiques I can give are that the scrolling seems a little balky, (in contacts for instance), sometimes it will scroll down a screen or 2 with a flick scroll, and then when you flick to go down again it will go back up instead. But thats only sometimes, and may well be the device screen not being completely up to the task. That and the battery life could be better, but again, there's only a limited amount you can do with that tiny little battery. It's no worse than the T-mobile ROM was, thats for sure, and I carry a charger everywhere anyway, since it's not out of the ordinary for me to spend 5 or 6 hours on the phone in a day(thank ghod work pays my cell bill)

So some really minor quibbles, overall, some darn nice work man, thanks for what you do for us!

Ya know, I've been looking for this setting since I got the wing on the T-mobile/OT/and now aserg ROMs. Probably just missing the dialog, but anyone care to fill me in where that setting lives? I can disconnect it manually just by holding down the end call button for a couple seconds, but I'd rather get it set to drop the connection automatically.

how can i remap the keyboard so that when i hit the "alt" button and the "interent explore" key it doesnt bring up file explorer? i downloaded duprades fixes, but that fixes everything nbut that, any ideas?

it's because when he did the keyboard fix he didn't want to spend the money on the licenced version on WM to cook with so it didn't allow him to map the internet explorer key to open PIE.

Hey aSerg, we are all looking forward to your new ROM with baited breath but I was wondering what the position is with VoIP please? I installed your newest available ROM in the knowledge that you say you deleted VoIP from the ROM and hey presto, there it still is!!

Are you planning it for the newest release? The one in the present one performs erratically but that hasnt stopped me from trying to use it:

The dialer doesnt seem to work in that when everything is connected up and the VoIP provider is showing on the dialer, the call disconnects immediately I finish dialing the number. And although I am not touching the settings, even when connected WiFi, the selector seems to change at will from available to selected to no service.

Anyway just thought you would like to know, assuming you are still monitoring this thread

I just flashed this ROM.. it's really cool, my favorite ROM to date.. I have a quick question.. On the top bar where it shows the time there are two numbers (i.e. 201/2) that are constantly changing. What is this, and how can it be removed?

I have one more question...

I installed the software on my Wing and when I open the slider and use the keyboard I've noticed that some of the symbols that type when I push the keys are different than what the key says. For instance, on the letter "P" there is also a blue question mark that normally types when I hit Alt and P. Since installing this rom, I get a parenthesis instead of a question mark. Is there a fix for this?

I found the fix for the keyboard issue that I was having above (Duprade's Keyboard Fix) and it is working fine now. I still do need to know how to change the temperature from celcius to fahrenheit though. I'm sure it's something that's a no brainer, but I cannot figure it out for the life of me.

I finally found a fix for changing the temperature on this Rom from Celcius to Fahrenheit. After looking through setting after setting on my Wing (to no avail), I came across an HTC Home Customizer that after installing allowed me to set my temperature defaults.

Ever since I've flashed this ROM it's worked great, but it take me 8 minutes to receive a SMS text message, and about the same for one to arrive; with the last ROM I used, SMS texts were instant, receiving and sending.
Anyone else notice this with the ROM?

Also, how can I get an icon of my battery power on the taskbar (at the bottom of the screen)? If not there, the top bar?

I'm not looking to make any enemies on this forum.. someone asked why the internet explorer key didn't work after running your fix. I'm not an expert at the inner workings of the Wing or Herald, but I remembered your quote on the thread for the keyboard fix, and tried to answer the person's question..

"PLEASE NOTE:
The only key that isn't mapped correctly, is the Internet Explorer key on the bottom right of the keyboard, and the reason being, that executable launching is only available for the Registered Version of the software, and in order to be able to give this out freely and since I repackaged the CAB, I was unable to map that button with the freeware version of AEK."

Sorry if I misread your note, I was just trying to be helpful.

BTW, thanks for this keyboard fix. I use it on an Aserg ROM and it's really helped.

My apologies.
If you BUY AEKMAP, I'll make you a keymap and configure that button correctly.... since one of the limitations of the freeware version, is the inability to keymap launching programs.
I have a full version of the product, but keep in mind that Alexander Eltsyn makes this software and sells it. Even if I packaged a serial number into the software, it wouldn't work on any one else's device.

Personally, I never use that shortcut launch from the keyboard, and since the cab I packaged was using the freeware version of AEKMAP, I just fixed the necessary buttons. But if you want, I can make you a keymap to fix it.

I've been using this ROM for a few months now and a friend at work just upgraded from T-Mobile Dash to the Wing. He is out of the country on business and his phone was delivered yesterday to the office.

I have already upgraded him to this ROM so that he never has to see the original WING setup.

Once I did this, a third guy in the office that uses the wing had to have his upgraded too.

On the first one - with the brand new wing - I had to try 4 times before it finally installed but it's running beautifully now.

Like I said earlier, I've been using this for a while and am a big fan of this. Thanks again for the ROM

since this is a wonderful rom, and aserg is mia i think i may try to learn how to cook roms. i will base it entirely off of this rom and not change a thing except to update the included apps and give it the diamond appeal

*regarding the hopefully blk. the creators of those skins have released white for the most part in the event they do not release black i will have to decide the best route to go

most of the apps are still current except for a few which i will update to include pim backup, battery status, sip change, and i may include ftouchsl however asergs scrolling is still the best and smoothest out there so i may not even though ftouchsl includes gestures

I TRULY HOPE I CAN MAKE THIS WORK, i am not anywhere close to being aserg let alone a cook which is WHY i will only update the above items since the rom is soooooooo stable. however if there is another who is confident in doing the above i would be happy to work with you and supply the programs to include.

I noticed many posts about changing the weather from Celsius to Fahrenheit the simple way is to click the weather tab then click the city at the top of the weather screen and that will open the city selection screen then click menu then weather options and select Fahrenheit. done!

I installed an old version of Spb Pocket Plus (ver 3.1) that I don't use anymore.. I needed to install it to my device so I could boot up in safe mode to delete something from my \Windows\StartUp directory. I did what I had to do, rebooted normally and then uninstalled Spb Pocket Plus v3.1. Now for some reason Battery Status no longer works. After I uninstalled Spb I had to activate Battery Status again. I have it clicked in the Today settings, and it isn't working; it's also coming up as non-registered. Also, when I try to open Battery Status it doesn't open until I do a soft reset (it opens on boot-up). I have all the same settings selected, but now there is no Tray Applet, nothing that shows up on the taskbar, nothing!!

Anyone have any clue on how to fix this? I really don't feel like having to re-flash the ROM, that would suck!

I fixed the problem by using the "HaRet" program in "My Devices" in the File Explorer. Not really sure what this program does, but something in my head told me to run it, and it ended up working. I thought it was going to run a hard reset, but luckily it didn't!

i've been searching this thread and can't find the page, but i remember someone asking for the reg tweak to change the date format. for example, in the file explorer or when i'm making an appointment it shows the date like this: "September 27, 2008." is there a way to switch it so it just displays the number of the month instead of spelling it out? the name of the month is making the date column so big that it blocks out the other information. please help.

first i'd like to say that i like your rom very much.
But bluetooth handsfree isn't working. I can hear music over bluetooth but a soon as a phone call comes in i have to take my phone and answer the old way.
The option in the phone menu "Turn Hands-Free on" is always grayed out. Could you please fix this issue? I would be gorgeous if you could release a german rom. I can help in translating. Or you just use the orginal german htc rom to cook.

Is there anyway this rom could do that? Or is it only for a diamond? Also, is there a way I could enable ONLY the flickscrolling, and none of that other mumbojumbo that I don't seem to understand.
