[UPG]USPL for ELFIN - Only for the brave ones

Hi everybody,

I made up a new version of pof's USPL for ELFIN based on SPL 2.20.0000. You should be able to flash SPL in the third step now.
Why a new version? Because USPL v1 is only for ELF (64/128MB), but not for ELFIN (128/256MB). Flashing the old ELF SPL in step three on a new ELFIN used to brick your device.

But like i just wrote i got's me an ELF.

ummmmm i just used to use the old uspl v1 and exit after step 3 than flash my rom, if you guys are really keen on testing this my new elfin will be here today or on monday and i will try it with my old one just to piss of rogers

I think that a Elfin dopod owner can test this without problems, because if don't work he can flash the complete (and signed) dopod rom from bootloader to restore the original SPL...

what ??? the UPSL 1.0 is for Elf only and not Elfin ??? what i dont understand is what do you guys mean quit at step 3 ??? I flashed my Elfin with UPSL 1.0 with all steps for more than 6 times so far and nothing has happen so far ... my SPL is the 2.20.2000 one ...

You flashed those roms containing the USPL (start.bat). They automaticly quit the 3rd step and go directly to the Rom Utility to flash the new ROM.

If you use POF´s USPL v1 and you don´t quit after step 3, the patched Bootloader will be flashed from your devices RAM to the ROM, and this wil brick your ELFin. If you have done this, your actual IPL or SPL would be 1.11.xxx...

as far as i know this is not possible, cause you can´t access bootloader files...in bootloader mode.
same on pc, you can´t delete or replace files, which are open/inuse by another program...

The Rom Packages u can get here don´t contain a bootloader...and even if they would, the bootloader or the rom would have to match your model ID for flashing it to your device....so yes, it´s stricktly needed to CID unlock to flash Custom ROMs or ROMs with other vendor IDs.

Hi all, not that i think myself insane but i have tried the USPL for my Elfin 128/256 Touch a few days ago :D. I have followed the steps and the screen turned white as mentioned by the installer after that it booted up fine again.

Everything seems to be working fine!

However, i have not seen any change to the device..

You don't see any change in the device.... but if USPL works you can flash ANY rom from bootloader directly executing RomUpdateUyility, you don`t need to boot windows, activesync and white screen (temporary SuperCID) to flash, try.....

Go to RUU directory and execute RomUpdateUtlity instead of RUN.bat and see if you can flash any rom without 3% (corrupted) error....

BTW for my using USPL v1. never bricked my phone. It just got stuck at step three. I left it for the entire night running and it didn't do any thing. It just loaded that HaRET( Hard reset I am assuming) file with the linux logo and stayed stuck like that for hours. I soft reset the phone and it loads into the RUU (RGB screen), and successfully rom updates for me??? Any ideas... Now I have installed a WM6.1 Rom but I don't like it and I wan't to go back to original HTC Rom...any ideas?

Actually it was not my intention to use this procedure to flash a different ROM on my touch. I am quite pleased with the (original HTC) one i have at the moment. The reason I tried this was because i already bricked my phone once and was able to reflash with a original HTC ROM so I was quite prepared to test this out to see if there where any problems without fear of bricking... (or at least without fear of not being able to make it work again)

However as soon as i figure out how to make a complete backup of my device (ROM installed programs etc) so that i can revert back to my current ROM and configuration after a flash to a different cooked ROM i would like to try this out..

ive been reading these forums for quite some time now (wizard ftw), and i finally got my hands on a touch (elfin ofc) yesterday. i just took the risk and flashed this uspl.
all went fine, so go ahead and try this method so it can be verified to work all the time!

Well, I used this and no problems so far... when I bricked my previous Elfin with v1 it would go to tha HTC screen and than nothing (wouldn't even charge), so it looks like this is it!!

Gonna find a ROM and flash it.... let ya know how it went....

I did that stupid mistake, now what.. my SPL is shown as 1.11.0000 and its the one for an eLF. i have a Elfin btw. Now gets stuck on the Smart mobility page. What do u guys suggest??

You can try to use mtty, but i think your only chance is to find an official rom matching your model ID...
The official Roms are containing a new Bootloader, so you have to flash an official one from within Bootloader via ActiveSync or via SD-Card...

4.Transfer Cert_SPCS.cab & EnableRapi.cab to your phone.
5.Run Cert_SPCS.cab FIRST & EnableRapi.cab SECOND (If there's a popup asking you to allow installation, select [YES]) and do a soft reset.
6.Turn off the phone and remove SIM and microSD cards.
7.Connect the phone to pc, turn it on and wait until activesync is completed(green icon).
8.Run elfin-uspl.exe on your computer (C:\ELFIN_USPL\elfin-uspl.exe) and follow instructions on screen:

Please make sure Activesync is enabled (green icon in systray)
and hit ENTER to start...

STEP 1/3......50%......75%....100%

The next step will load a patched bootloader (SPL) on your device

STEP 2/3.....15%.....25%...50%...75%.....100%

Phone screen should now be blank WHITE and the activesync icon gray
if not, the loading procedure has failed and you'll have to repeat again.

If all was OK hit ENTER and the standard "PDA Phone ROM Update Utility"
window will start, allowing you to flash patched SPL on your device.

Hit CTRL+C to Cancel or ENTER to continue...

Follow the steps on the wizard to flash the patched SPL, when this
step completes your device will reboot.

STEP 3/3 - Launching RUU, please wait...

Process is finished, congratulations!

i guess the latest manufactured Elf's have IPL/SPL 2.2X series. and if yours belongs to this series, u can even try the Elfin_USPL.

Hard reset and in customization soft reset again.
I install cert_spcs and Enable rapi
than restart than take the microsd and simcard
than run elfin_uspl and elf_usp_2.26.0000
but can not be success always when haret installing ,screen turn white and disconnect to pc
I use vista , must i try in xp?
I did not run Touch_Unlock.exe because of viruses.


What I miss , or is there an other method for CID unlock
I cannot pass step 2/3 ever
