Wonder how the screen will cope being VGA at such a small size (size is akin to the Kaiser).
And it's impressively light - hope it feels good too.
Wonder what "XPERIA" panels are.
Photo light is the feature I most miss from my Hermes.
Sounds nice. Might have to postpone my next upgrade until it comes out... Just hope the hardware isn't crippled.

How about this then?

This is the probably the best phone I have seen in a few years. Hope it is really as good as it promises, and if it is HTC will be in really serious trouble. By the way finally a decent screen, only HTC doesn't seem to notice that QVGA is way too little for a 2.8" screen.

Otherwise, great looks

Looks nice, quick question, is aGPS on the X1 like the Kaiser's GPS in that it operates with "free standing" nav software but does get "quick start" data from the network?? I wouldn't want to take a step back on the GPS front.

I have to admit I'm sold too. . . check out the specs on the product home page. They look really really good. I've learned from my "mistake" with the Kaiser to try the software (drivers) within the 30 days and return it if they aren't up to par with what's expected.

hmmmm... tempting
I never thought I would leave the HTC's!!!
The one area HTC may want to work on is the cosmetics. That Sony Ericsson looks a hell lot sexier than an HTC!

Yes, I am sold!
The things that interest me :
- What kind of chip? I bet it should not be Qualcomm!
- MicroSDHC support? I guess (hope) so, because it only mention MicroSDHC
- USB2.0? Shame if it has USB mass-storage on USB1
- Battery life?
- Runs TomTom? :)
And, yeah, hardware graphics acceleration drivers!!! We need this! :) However, seeing the video, it should has one ...

The X1's specs include, basically, everything. Quad-band EDGE plus quad-band HSDPA 7.2 with HSUPA? Check. Wi-Fi and GPS? Check. A 3.2-megapixel camera with DVD quality video playback and capture? Check. FM radio, Bluetooth stereo, and GPS? You bet. It's all powered by a 520-MHz ARM11 processor running Windows Mobile 6. In short, this thing screams.

11th February 2008, 05:48 AM
HTC might make it, but it's going to be Sony-Ericsson who tells them not to f@ck the customers. Same with the Treo 750. Ever notice how much better the screen is on that phone than HTC brand ones? That's because other companies know how to design phones. The only thing HTC is good at is doing what they're told.
gogol
11th February 2008, 05:56 AM
Yeah :( Too bad ... HTC makes it :(
http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/10/no-wonder-sony-ericssons-xperia-x1-is-so-good-htc-makes-it/
God Lord ... please hear my prayer ... please dont let HTC make this without hardware graphics acceleration drivers!
I think we should start asking and emailing SonyEricsson and ask about that driver :D
New campaign "Save the XPeria!" .... lol ... but seriously, it could be a good move.

We Kaiser Users Are Screwed
They Will Not Release The Video Driver Until This Phone Is Released......do U Guys See What I Mean......
If They Release It, Then There's Nothing Incredibly Unique About This Xperia X1 Phone.............the Kaiser Is Nearly As Capable As The Xperia With The Drivers.........
With The Xda Forum, We Can Pretty Much Port Anything On Similar Devices, And Pretty Soon We'll Have Xperia Wannabe's In Our Pockets............................
Yea Yea, 1700mhz, Big Deal..........800pixels.....also Great, But Not Good Enough To Shell Out Another Slice Of My Paycheck For Those Two Things.......fm Reciever......cheap As Heck Peice Of Hardware.......and I Don't Know The Ram Size Of Xperia So That Worries Me....
Just My 2 Cents......

The VGA ... 800x480 ... slick user interface ... 520MHz CPU ... 400 MB Phone Memory (RAM?) ...
Those enough for me to ditch the Kaiser and welcome the new SE WinMo :P
PS: And I also hope, by that time ... Opera Mobile 9.5 released ...

OH....maybe there's a slider where you can give the system more RAM, so 400MB of just pure RAM would be sweet, and I would upgrade even though the Kaiser is sitting happily in my pocket everyday.... HAHA........
I like Sony Ericsson phones, used it all when i was a student, but then one day the need for massive scheduling came, and SE didn't have a phone that i liked.....but now........looks like its back.
The phone looks as sexy as the Kaiser but I still hold up to HTC wanting to promote this phone, or other phones like Xperia with the EYE-candy interface, so they won't release the proper driver for the MISSING video driver..............what a crappy marketing technique if they were to do that delibrately...and I believe 99% right now, that they did it on PURPOSE, it was a planned act, that they released the Kaiser or similar what nots, with the ridiculous basic driver that just makes the phone just barely useable........................................... ...
freaking HTC is just like any Chinese company, "They know how to make good products, but they just lack a marketing team that can make them a self sufficient mobile headset maker like SE, Nokia"
They either sell it through phone carriers, or make phones for other companies. Microsoft is totally backing HTC up at lot.......I think i saw a MICROSOFT lady representative pulled out a HTC touch on the stage in Las vegas last month while talking about how integrated microsoft LIVE was......
I wouldn't even be surprised that Microsoft owns part of HTC.......
