Shaping the cube with 4 sides

With a registry editor ( http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/phmregistryeditor.shtml ) in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Biotouch we see the folders APLauncher + MediaHubMini. The first one it contains the regulations for the side of cube with 6 applications and the second one, the regulations for the side of cube with 3 applications.

Opening the file APLauncher we see at line, 6 files with name App0 - 5. Each one represents a button of cube, in the side with 6 applications. We are interested for the fields Name where we fix the name of application that will appear on screen and Path where we fix the path of application that we want to place.

In this example I have put the application Live Messenger changing string with \Windows\WLMMessenger.exe with preferred application. Attention, we needed exe no ink, that exist in windows folder or Program Files folder.

With the same way open the folder MediaHubMini. We see at line, 3 files with name App1_1 - 3. . Each one represents a button of cube, in the side with 3 applications. At the same way we make also here the changes that we wish. The field APNameFontSize it represents the font size.

Here we see the final result. Next stage the change of our own pictures in each program, but most important is to have in the cube the applications that we want to have easy access with one hand. Most careful and those who have installed the HTC Action Screen will discover in the folder Biotouch and the corresponding regulations for this.

Another side with six applications in cube

1. In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Biotouch add a folder with name APLauncher4 with the same content of APLauncher.

2. In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Biotouch\Βiotouch add a String Value with name App4 and String APLauncher \Windows\APLauncher4.exe

3. In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Biotouch\Βiotouch add a Βinary Value with name Cube4 with the same content of Cube3.

4. In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Biotouch\Βiotouch change the DWORD VALUE Total Cubes from 3 to 4.

5. In windows folder make a new file with name APLauncher4.exe copy from APLauncher.exe

And the names of the icons, does it have to be exclusively under the form "MH_01" and "MH_01_HL" ???? because there are already this file's names in windows directory... and cannot be overwritten.... :mad:

if u use touchsettings u can browse to the icon. !!!MUST BE in "brn" format!!!-it doesnt work with ico,tga,bmp...... if u dont have them in format brn search for brn converter. anyway, U can change icons in registry as well.

I just brought my cruise and with the help of this post, I've managed to customize my cube. Since my cruise was installed with a 4-side cube (customized by my service provider), can we create the 5th side or even more sides? Is there limitation of the number of sides?

I have tried with the method here for the 5th side but can't make it work. Any of you have tried to create more than 4 sides? :confused:

With five sides it is not cube. :D

Moreover it loses functionalism. I have not tryed.

Just to add a little to this: I have Touch Settings 2.25 cab installed, and it recognizes the additional side and lets you edit it. This way is much easier than doing it manually from the registry.

You need to edit your registry to get our music tab back,

HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCHome

Add new string,

Tabsetting = 1,2,3,4,5,6

You can change the order of the numbers to sort the tabs how you like

1 = Clock tab
2 = Favorite People tab
3 = Weather tab
4 = Launcher tab
5 = Music tab
6 = Profiles tab

refresh the htc home to get the tabs u can do it by unchecking the today contects and then checking it and it will refresh and
people who missed the favorites home tab delete this registry key :

HKLM\Software\OEM\MASD\Quickdial

delete it an drefresh thats alll and u will get all the 6 tabs !!

But somehow it doesn't work for me. I followed the tutorial step by step and did everything as described and when I bring up the cube it works as always until I reach the newly added side. Then the screen freezes and I have to do a softreset.
Does anybody have a clue what could be wrong?

6 Tabs with HTC home :

You need to edit your registry to get your music tab back, (Use Resco Registry Editor)

Click HKLM>Software>HTC>HTCHome

then click your Menu button (Bottom right corner on your device)

Click Add new string,

On the NAME Dialog write Tabsetting
On the String Dialog write 1,2,3,4,5,6

You can change the order of the numbers to sort the tabs how you like

1 = Clock tab
2 = Favorite People tab
3 = Weather tab
4 = Launcher tab
5 = Music tab
6 = Profiles tab

Refresh the HTC Home to reflect the tabs. You can do it by unchecking the HTC Home in Settings>Personal>Today>Items contents and then checking it back again.

At this stage, you will only see 5 Tabs with Music Logo on the new one which represents the default audio player. If you want the 6 Tab(Where the sixth represents the Favorite people Tab), then, you need to delete this registry key (Again using either Resco Registry Editor)

HKLM>Software>OEM.MASD>Quickdial

If you have duplicated the Aplauncher key for create Aplauncher4, someone "param" string are not empty.
App0 (email) have -service "activeSync" in the param string.

I found the touchsetting program would not add or remove a extra side but once you had created a extra side in the reg then use touchsettings to customise it.
i have attached my reg settings and files if it helps you get started but be aware any alterations you have already made to the cube will be lost.

Move all logo files (*.brn) and Aplauncher.exe to the Polaris windows directory and click on the reg file from within the Polaris then just restart.

You can install Touch Settings 2.25:

It will allow you to navigate to the file. It also does a lot more. Great program.

If you do it manually, put it in the windows folder and change the registry settings. Just make sure it is .brn format...you can name it whatever you want.

Did you get the opera icon to work? I have it in brn format, but it blacks out the whole screen if you put the regular and the press icon in. I did a TomTom on the 4th side, with both, but it is too small. Any ideas?

In order to have buton to appear you have either to replace your original brn file or change the path of the icon in the registry but in both case the file must be in the windows folder.

OK. I got it now. The only thing that is really pissing me off is the background color is a shade lighter in a couple squares. I can't live with that! Also, is there anyway to find out paths? These programs don't bring you to them. Like TomTom can't be found anywhere on my device, and I want to make a shut off button on the second 6 app launcher. Thanks for the help thus far. Hi, I have a problem, I wanted to change the shortcuts on 2nd Applauncher in 4-sided cube to what you can see in the txt-file attached.
only problem is, that no shortcut, except New MMS, does anything, what did I do wrong?
I copied the shortcut "values" (like app directory and param) from ActionScreen, where these shortcuts forward correctly, why don't they do anything in the cube?
In the 1st Applauncher, which I didn't touch, Email and SMS/MMS-button don't function anymore neither, why is this?

Could perhaps someone with original HTC ROM extract the complete HKLM\...\Biotouch-key-folder with subkeys, and post it for me to compare?

EDIT2: ok, it worked now, only problem I keep having, is that turning the sides of the cube, the animation doesn't fit anymore my personalized cube, because I now have 4 sides, and I changed the order of the sides to 1) Applauncher4, 2) Applauncher, 3) QuickDial, 4) Media

I have had a similar problem. With 4 sides scrolling them left works fine whereas when I scroll to the right I get the text of side 4 over the background for the Quick dial side.

Also I have been unable to copy the APLauncher.exe file from my windows folder as this is part of my ROM and it won't let me. Instead I copied a file from a different ROM. Am not sure if this is normal not being able to copy ROM files. Maybe I need a ROM without TouchCube and to load from a cab file instead?

I've given up on getting the four sided cube animation looking right.

It looks like the problem is that the registry would have to be modified to link Cube4 to a new set of animation graphics (say D0-5). The real task is finding out where this is set (somewhere in Cube4 I imagine).

Placing the new graphics in place is a cinch as would be adding additional paths to those graphics. No problem there...

There are some TC's out there with four sided cubes like the xda Orbit2 from O2. I'd love to see and copy those registry biotouch settings.. :rolleyes: anybody willing to share???

I used Photoshop to create the animation frames. Just used the originals as guides and superimposed the new panels I made with the proper perspective tweaks. It's a lot easier than one might think.

Thanks for the O2 registry settings. I am working on it now to see if I can throw a fourth side with correct animation frames designated to it.

I'll be back to post all my work on here, registry settings and graphics files for both the three and four sided cubes (assuming that I nail the four sided one...)

Ok, changing the registry settings in on my TC to those of the Orbit2 to introduce 44 motion paths instead of the 33 that come with the TC didn't work.

I added the additional Paths from 34-44 and linked them to the correct graphics, but setting the "TotalBMP" to 44, kills my cube altogether. It won't even show up.

Perhaps someone can figure out how to tell TouchFlo that there are 44 paths instead of 33?

Setting "TotalBMP" back to 33 brings back the cube with the four sides, but obviously the animations aren't right.

Any thoughts?

Have you tried the obvious.... and loaded all the registry settings I posted completely over yours? Yes, this will overwrite you settings temporarily but if you dump yours first, you can always put them back again.

With the registry editor I use (Vidaya) there is an Import option which will load the file I posted and overwrite that section.

Ok, I've got it all working, and the animations are perfect.

Right now I have QuickDial, Media Hub, Custom APLauncher, Custom ApLauncher with all the new icons and correct cube animations...

Here's how I did it...

1. Deleted my own Biotouch key
2. Imported the Biotouch Key from pdagenius (See page 8 of this thread)
3. Created Cube animations based how the four sides of the cube move from right to left (A1-A5 for cube1, B1-B5 for cube2, etc...) based on originals.
4. Created a D1-D5 animations.
5. Converted and transfered all new brn files back to /windows
6. Changed the new registry paths to my shortcuts and icons

Alright, all done. I've put together a kit for creating the custom 4 sided cube in the above .gif animation.

I tried to make it as simple as possible, but as always, some technical savy will be necessary. That is, unless some brilliant guy comes along a creates a .cab that does it all, but I doubt it...

okay, i have a european Touch with original rom FYI...

i've got the 4th cube side to show.
when i spin the cube it just spins around and skips to the next side.
It also shows no icons when spinning.

so basically i can see it but it won't stop on that side.
am i missing something??? i installed the 4thsideonly.cab and that's
the only one that seems to get the 4th side to appear.
i've tried to install manually from the first post and it doesn't do a thing.

it exists, i just can't seem to get it to stop on that side. it just passes it
up. i'd really love to see this work.

is it possible to make the 4th side work with an original HTC Touch.

any thoughts???

If you are following the instructions at the beginning of this thread...

it sounds like you forgot to copy APLauncher.exe from \Windows\ , rename it to APLauncher4.exe and paste it back into \Windows\

I hope you didn't install my pack, as it's only tested in Polaris/Touch Cruise... :confused:

But it should be definitely possible, since there are some versions, like Sprint, that have four sides...

Yea... i've always been pretty good at tweaking my pda's
using registry and i did follow this one to the T.

I've built the registry values from scratch the first time and
that didn't work... only slowed down my cube. Then i tried
both cabs that on on this thread.

Don't know what i'm missing....

While i'm asking... is there a way to launch apps using QuickDial
instead of your contacts... that would satisfy me even more
since i don't use the quickdial side of the cube....

Does the path have to be \windows\.....
I am trying to map Pocketcm, which is located in Program Files\Pocketcm\pocket.exe, but it doesn't work. Do I need to move the executable to the Windows folder?

The path can be anywhere that leads to that .exe file.

1. Make sure that it's really Program Files\Pocketcm\pocket.exe and not \Storage Card\Program Files\Pocketcm\pocket.exe or something like that.

2. Make sure that the string called "type" is set to "0" and not "1" under the App key in question.

that is because this animation is made of 5 pics per movement... and if you don't change these as well, you'll have the old icons on the turning anim.

I just search up and down the internet for crystal vista icons and stuff... there are several forums where people test their graphic skills and they make nice stuff...

I use that compass icon for google maps, I'm not an apple guy so I didn't even know that safari existed...

but the real question that i have is about the home plug in. on the Orbit 2 is it just disabled by default or actually removed from the device altogether?

it looks like there are settings existing in the registry for htc home and htc home plug.

has anyone got it to work by changing some settings?

It only works on some versions of biotouch, I'd stay far, far away from it... just do everything manually... takes a while but it works better...

Iis this method able to create a number of extra sides ie; bring it up to 6 (or even more),if so please explain how.
I have had the Tytn for a couple of weeks,it was supplied with Dutty's V4 ROM so would I also be right in assuming HardSPL is already done?

I have successfully changed the Video part of the Media Hub to Tcpmp, but it gives me a File not found! error. I was wondering if there is a media player or a way to set Tcpmp to use some sort of library feature so I do not get this error?

Is there a way of linking the media hub side to folders. I have all my music, videos and pictures on my storage card so it would be nice to click on music and it loads that folder on the storage card.

In the mean time, I removed the contact side altogether, since I added my favorite contacts to the HTC Home already. The "new" 3rd side is a new set of shortcuts. I reworked all the art to fit the icons...

give a guide as to how to edit the reg to remove the fav contacts side
and change that to applauncher2 instead.

I find it more practical than changing the 3sided cube to a 4sided one.

I was able to add the 4th side to my Vogue's cube since the reg seems to be very similar to the one on the Polaris... Everything is working great.

I am now working on making the same to a friend's Elfin (Touch XL) but his biotouch registry is a bit different. For exemple: I cannot find (and edit) the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Biotouch\Βiotouch to change the DWORD VALUE Total Cubes from 3 to 4. for exemple... It simply doesn't exist!

I also don't find the keys regarding the quickdial in the biotouch... How weird! Why don't they do this all the same?

So i am wondering if i would just configure the whole biotouch registry like mine. I wouldn't change the names of his softwares (ex.: APLauncher"="08092007 V2.3 Final Release) in the reg of course but all the cube's paths and settings...

Do you think this can work or do you have a better idea?

Hey all, I'm not too new to WM devices, got no problem with registry editing, but I'm completely new to the HTC TouchFlo menus... Only had my HTC Touch (Elf) for about 2 weeks now. Oh, and if you're wondering if I'm worried about the warranty, I've already installed an updated ROM... So that should answer those questions. Lol.

Anyway, just a few questions before I attempt this:

I've added the 2 registry keys and modified the TotalCubes key :

Added HKLM/Software/HTC/Biotouch/Biotouch/App4 (value data same as App3)
Added HKLM/Software/HTC/Biotouch/Biotouch/Cube4 (value data same as Cube3)
Changed HKLM/Software/HTC/Biotouch/Biotouch/TotalCubes from 3 to 4

And made a complete reset, all is ok, i have a 4 Face cube, thanks to butzchan :D

atao mentions an entry called 'TotalCubes', I don't have any entry in my device registry like that.. Is that meant to be standard or can I add it myself? Is it maybe part of an tweak or program that I don't have?

Create a new key by copying and pasting APLauncher i renamed the new key APLauncher4.

Alter the App4 string to 'APLauncher \Windows\APLauncher4.exe'

Then copy and rename the \windows\aplauncher.exe program to aplauncher4.exe

Then just alter the values to your requirement in the aplauncher4 key and reset.

Works a treat on mine.I now have another page with 6 fully programable buttons.

Must that file be called APLauncher4.exe, or can it be any number (like 2, 3, etc)? That first lime, I'm a bit confused as to whether that's renaming the actual application (in Windows folder) or in the registry; as hawk eye tim says he 'created a new key'.

My apologies if this has been covered in another post, I have skimmed through the thread looking for more details, but I didn't see anything that answers these specific questions..

EDIT: Yes, I know it's an old thread.... If there's a newer / easier way to do this, please let me know? I'll wait for a few replies before I try anything..
