There seems to be a problem with iGO and Mio. When you launch it, nothing happens.
I found a way to make it work - sometimes it requires to do a soft reset for it to work:

Security Warning - turn it to disable and it should work.

Well for me it does not work following your recommandations
Software: iGO 2006 Myway Plus
ROM: XTRM 1.0-6.1x WWE TILT X-version

Which ROM are you using?

I have seen posts about a conflict between one of the HTC today plugins causing a problem with IGO & MIO, I had used both on the WM 6.0 ATT factory rom but no joy on the 6.1 roms (I am sorry that I have not tested to see the exact item causing the problem) I started to use Tom Tom and that is working well for me (you can get the demo version with one free local map Download) or the full version is only about $150.00

I just tested both iGO 2006/2008 making sure both the security alerts and the assisted GPS were disabled and even disabling the HTC Home plugin.

Result: still a no go I am afraid (the programs don't even launch) :(

EDIT: actually I did a hard reset on the rom I was on and now strangely it works :)

I can honestly say that I have no idea what its not working for some of you...I just pulled mine up last night to map a route (igo06). I havent really done anything special to the settings other than what I mentioned earlier. Sorry I could not be of more help.

It may have to do with the <ahem> legality of the various versions of iGo/Miomap that people are using. ;)

What ROM do you have?... Some roms have modded the XIP protocol allowing iGO and MIOMAP to function.

For those that have iGO, the problem is not in running the program. It is in the installation. some ROMs would halt the installation at about 80%, the installation meter disappears however your screen will display the iGO logo and program. When clicked .. nothing happens .. since the installation, due to a conflict, did not finish.

Weighing all the nice features of WM6.1 against the less troubles WM6.0, I would choose the WM6.0 any time. I can deal with not having a feature of two, but it is frustrating to have your phone crap out on you because of A NICE FEATURE as in 6.1.

my 3 1/2 cents....

I gave up on WM6.1

I have now all my programs installed and functioning great on Sleuth 1.2. with WM6.0

iGO never functioned as good with any other ROM. I installed Opera full and TCPMOP core player and I can watch U-Tube and can stream video and music from any source.

The Sleuth 1.2 is the best ROM out there so far. If you flash Sleuth's ROM please donate accordingly.

I had an issue with IGO, where it wouldn't start or would take ages to load if my network connection was established.

However, if I clicked disconnect from media net or isp, or whatever, it would loads right up...

iGo doesn't start after installing.
I'm using Dutty's 6.1 final.
I made it work! Just remove HTC Home from Today screen, keep Mio on Today screen. Then do soft reset, then click on Mio on Today screen and it starts!

btw, I don't need fancy HTC Home after 5 minutes trying it...

I was able to get it to work with disabling the HTC HOME screen.

I have CE OS 5.2.19199 Build 19199.1.0.0
ROM Version: DCSv1.5-WM6.1 WWE
ROm Date: 01/29/08

Where is the option to modify the SECURITY SETTINGS?

i can confirm that disabling the home plugin and assisted gps allows iGo 2006 to be installed.

you can then just turn them back on.

<edit> No ... I'm wrong ... if you turn the home plugin and assisted gps back on ... iGo stops working.

Now it was working when i was using a different 6.1 rom, but I cant remember which now.

if you turn off the today plugin and soft reset your device

WTF?!?! Disabling HTC Home allowed iGo 06 to work for me too. Once again I'm using stock 3.03 WM6.1 rom. What ever it is, something in this version of HTC Home does not like iGo running on it. I'm guess those who make custom roms put different versions of Home in them, which means some work out the box and some don't.

Are you guys sure it's HTC Home thats at fault? For me, just doing a soft reset (leaving HTC Home active), lets iGo run fine. It refuses to run though after the phone has been on for a while though (unsure how long). Some 6.0 roms did this to but i forget which as i'm a bit of a ROM whore!

The problem is with WM 6.1 (not 6.0), and (at least in my case) I confirm that HTC PI seems to block IGo 06+ from coming up. In a way it is kind of an escalation of the older WM 6.0 issue, where IGo 06+ would come up only following SR and then not. I want 6.1 so I disabled HTC PI and installed SPB Shell instead, now 6.1 (I'm currently on Dutty's) works any time with IGo 06+.

Anyways, I've passed on the issue to the IGo people in Budapest with a link to this thread.

I'm using Dutty's newest 6.1 - i think the music tab in htc home is causing problems. Tested all tabs (first disabled all except the home tab and then added every single tab, soft reset, tried to start igo.....) it was working with all combinations, but with the music tab, my igo did not start.
But i just tested if iGo starts....let's see if it's working correctly...

So my solution is:
- Disable the music tab in HTC Home
- Do a soft reset
- Enjoy iGo with HTC Home enabled :)

my solution (for the moment) is to put igo in the startup folder (19202 version of wm6.1).
disadvantage is, that igo starts every softreset.
advantage is i don't have to disable htc home every time i reset. and it works after EVERY softreset (planned or unplanned)

Hi,
Any news from development guys from Hungary?
I just upgrade to 6.1 and loose Igo:(
The only method to use it is to remove HTCHome from Today screen. I have tried to enable/disable Music (rom I'm using doesn't have it by default) - no luck!
Dutty's rom refuse to install on my HTC Tynt II due to a communication error - I'm working on this.
It doesn't start even if I put igo in startup folder...

LE: After disabling weather plugin Igo starts in every "position". HTCHome&Igo have a lot of feelings! They are not acting in the same way on Tynt II!
To upgrade to Dutty's rom I have to use an XP. Vista refuse to cooperate...

Ok we all know that HTC Home causes iGo in WM6.1 to not launch.
Now, lets take it one step further and try to find out what exactly in HTC Home messes up iGo. There's lots of developers who dug into HTC Home and can find it out, since it's 100% reproducible.

I've heard rumors that it's the music tab that does this. I'll try it out.

I am using Duttys 29 April WM6.1 ROM with iGO8 and it is working perfectly without problems now. I did have a few difficulties at first but these have been ironed out.

The main things which helped me out were:
1. DO NOT install igo8 - run it directly from the SD card
2. iGO 8 worked after a hard reset but when I did exchange sync it stopped working - or so I thought. Make sure igo is working after the hard reset and THEN sync with exchange. When sync is complete make sure your kaiser is on external power and run igo. It will appear to stall or perhaps just run very slowly but be patient (very patient). For me, after leaving it for 10-15mins a message appeared about geocaching after which I realised it had been converting all my contacts to POIs which it only needs to do once and explains why it seemed to break after syncing with exchange. Obviously the more contacts you have the longer it will take.
3. did not have to do anything with HTC home

Hope some of this helps

The only way I can get it to launch is by disabling HTC Home and doing a soft reset. The program acts like its going to start (I get the wait cursor) and then nothing happens, I have tried launching from SD card, its definitely related to the HTC Home plugin.
I can get it to launch a few times with the HTC home active but without the music or weather tabs active. Once I do a soft reset, I have to repeat the procedure again.
I have also disabled security and assisted GPS

You could try:
Soft reset - start igo - minimize igo - go through all the problematic tabs (music, weather...) - maximize igo - close igo.
As far as i remember this worked for me (using dutty-hybrid, so i don't have these problems now)

But after synchronisation of my TyTN II with my desktop PC, Igo warned me that it might be slower because it had to load 1056 contacts.
And after about 2 minutes, I ws kicked out with a message to send the report to Microsoft.

Then I started Igo again, but after 30 seconds, I closed it. And then again. I noticed that the number of contacts that had to be imported was decreasing (so the importing worked). Until some point, where Igo didn't show me the number of pending contacts. And Igo doesn't arrive anymore to the main screen. It crashes during loading.

That is why I have the impression that it has something to do with importing the contacts.

How do I disable the importing of the contacts?

Patrick

For the guys who have poblems with starting IGO8 with htc home enabled :

TRy the following:

1) disable the weather panel in htc home , and try to start IGO...

2) also try included new version pack of igo
i included igo.exe , replace it on the program files map, also replace the license.
Also rename igo.exe to data.zip and replace that file on the sd card igo8 map.

Keep us posted!! This version is a new patch : v.8.0.0.35389

I think the problem has to do with the demo version/licensing expiring in igo8 more than anything.

Try this test: set your date to pre2007, save it. And then launch igo8. If it launches then the copy you are using has an expired license. It will close itself once it grabs the correct date and time from the satellites. That's what was happening to me.

The only solution I found was find another "backup" copy of igo8 ;). Since i installed IGo 8 PDA PNA With Working English TTS from here: ********** no problem launching igo8. Didn't have to disable anything or change anything. I'm using DCS v1.7 WM6.1 - Ultimate Video - OS 5.2.19716 rom.

Mod Edit: We do not allow cracks / warez etc here This is a bannable offence but as you are new, I'll assume you did not know the rule.

I have a stupid question... could I install back my old (and soooo good) version on WM6.0???
I tryed every sollutinon, and non of them work.
Oh, in fact... one worked... the one with disabling the Today panel, anr soft-reset. But I don;t like this solution :(.
So, please help me with an advice...

And second... I tryed to install some of the duttys WM6.1 but... I ran into problems. I don't know why, but the installation stuck at 0%... and gave an error on my PC (I had to unplugg the battery to restart the PDA)... So, any help? :)

10x very much to all who posted on this thread :)

I am running Dutty's 4/29 build and EVERYTHING works great.
I have tried several of the newer diamond ROMs but went to Dutty's strictly for the iGo8 issue. I was amazed that it was actually faster and more stable than most of the new ones out there.
I don't know what the guy did, but its awesome.
I don't know why you had issues flashing, maybe try to download the file again?

The June 3 release of iGo 8 no longer has incompatibility issues with HTC Home.
And, yes, you can always flash the WM 6.0 ROM of your choice.

Hi Guys! I know it's kind of old thread but I have the same question - is there any release of iGO 2006 that works on Windows Mobile 6.1 (HTC Kaiser, official 6.1 rom)?
I tried all possible releases over the net, but all of them are non-working. I click on iGo icon, the icon flashed for a second and that's it.

Any help? :)

Hey guys,

FYI version Nav N Go iGO 8 v8.0.0.41506 (June 3 release) fixes the startup issues presented in this topic. I tried several versions, but forgot to patch all of them with this update and I experienced the same problems as the ones here.

Now I am running Hyperdragon Opal (latest) with everything enabled as the ROM comes by default and the IGO works fine (just tested 5 minutes ago).

I used Myway 2006 until I switched to HyperDragon, but IGO 8 seems better at interface (didn't actually tested it on road, only for signal/map position) so I won't switch back.

I guess you can handle yourselves with maps and stuff, I assume warez links are not allowed here. Just try that version.

For those of you who still want to run iGo 2006 on WM6.1 with HTC Today. I was able to do it by turning off the weather tab in HTC Today.
To turn the tab off use "htc home customizer". You will need a soft-reset before you can run iGo.

Cheers

Hello all,

I tried searching for an issue I am seeing with Miomap 3.2 running on ATT Tilt WM6.1 with no luck. Since this is the closest thread to the issue, thought I will post to this. I will really appreciate it if anyone can help.

After suggestions from this thread, I was able to get Miomap 3.2 running on my Tilt (with HTC Home disabled). However, the screen calibration is way off and I cant click on anything.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!
RM

MANILLA ROMS WILL NOT WORK WITH iGO!!!

im using - G -'s wm 6.1 and it does not have HTC home or manilla and igo 2008 works completely fine.

so the throw back is use HTC HOME (without weather tab) and use the igo or miomap of your choice.

I have completely uninstalled m2d and disabled HTCHome now. But the screen caliberation issue is still there - clicking does not activate the button under the pointer. Has anyone seen this issue? Do I need to modify any settings? Help please!

Nav N Go iGO 8 R3 (7 jan 2009) starts just fine, but as soon iGO recieves the first GPS-fix, it completely freezes, and a soft-reset is needed.

I have a TyTN II. No changes made to the sys-file. The iGO 8.0 version worked just fine.

Any Ideas?!

Can anyone tell me how to get the iGO 8.3 working on HTC TyTN II / Kaiser?!

hello boys... and girls...

I have tytnII as probably almost everyone here, I recently flashed with the new rom: SAKAJATIs HD_IVIOLITE WWE4/2/2009 which works great.

The problem however arises when I want to install iGO2008. Although I already done this i do not succeed now. I've tried various copying from the card to internal memory and vice versa, I even formated the card, but nothing helps.

When i put the SD card in automatically instaler starts which is OK, but only a few of the bar goes grey and then a new window is opened and reports: Can 't copy: \ Storage Card \ 2577 \ autorun_8.nng

Mentioned rom has Mannila 2D, is possibly that the reason for not instaling the program/app.

Thanks in advance...

Hey grega, I would suggest that you not use the autoinstall version. My understanding is that it simply creates a shortcut for use in you start menu. Besides that, I don't remember hearing any advantages to using that setup. You can use TotalCommander to create a shortcut (the option is under the >>>>> (A) menu) in you Windows\Start Menu\ folder to create the lnk. Make sure the SYS.txt file includes the line that sets your base iGO folder.

That being said, I have had trouble getting the January 7 2009 release to run on my HyperDragon IV 04.Feb.2009. Everytime I start the program I am greeted by an Error ( Out of Memory ) prompt and then the program closes. Please, if anyone knows of a solution or can post a link to one, I will be eternally grateful!

Sorry but I think that you did not quite understand my problem. It is of course possible that I described the problem ambigously.

I can not even install the program without the need to deal with shortcuts and similar matters, my SYS file looks like this:

[folders]
app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"
;app="Internal Storage/iGO8"

[interface]
maxzoom2d=6000000
show_exit=1

So the main problem is that i can not install the program, it is really not important from where the program starts or runs...

Hey grega, I see what you are saying. I assume you are using iGO8\2577\autorun.exe. Correct? I have experienced a similar problem with a prior version. The solution I found was to not use that autoinstall but to do the installation manually as I described in my previous post. I hope this helps!
