Well another thing you have to consider is how much signal you have because if you have poor signal you will drain more battery, which sucks...

I get full 4 Bars where I'm at almost 95% of the time. I'm going to try using the original T-Mobile radio with the Rose ROM 1.6 after testing this new Overclocker for a few days. Got one that has OMAP and underclocks the phone when idle (screen off). Running it on the original ROM right now and don't see any battery difference and been out browsing the web, using bluetooth headset with MP3's and so far at 75% battery after 10hrs. WiFi still running. When I try out the Rose ROM 1.6 with the radio change. I'll post my findings...

Something screwy is going on with the installations. Iv Flashed rose v1.6 multiple times now and got different results each time. First time the comm manager had problems and then the second time the menu would hang forever and then the battery died after 3 or so hours. The last flash iv done worked great for a couple days and then I watched the battery go from 98% to 60% within 10 minutes. I did a cold boot and my phone has been running solid now for over a week. I did nothing different with each install.

My advise is give it a few tries. Flash again then cold boot when it screws up.

In my opinion the best ROM is Kavana with a couple add-ons and its perfect....also make sure you install it correctly

All I know is you couldn't pay me to go back to Tmobile's official Rom. Get an extended battery and starting living.

So far it looks like my Dash doesn't like Overclocking. I used the overclocker tool on the originally T-Mobile ROM and it started doing the thing where it'd overheat my battery againn. Uninstalled that software and now it's charging just fine. If it stays this way, I'll try the Rose 1.6 by Styles & Ricky again and se if I get the same results...

What did you overclock your phone to? Cause if you overclock it to high than it will cause the phone to either shut of or run kind of weird...

I overclocked it to 228Mhz. After uninstalling the Omap though my problem has gone away so far. Been going for 2 days on the original rom with no problems thus far. So it's looking my phone just don't like being overclocked at all...

Ok, how do I completely remove OMAPCLOCK.exe from the Rose 1.6 ROM. It's screwing with the battery and cpu on my Dash. The original T-Mobile ROM I had no issues. I installed this ROM just now and my Dash instantly starting getting hot. I underclocked it to 186Mhz and it cooled off and started runing faster. Then it started getting hot again. Now the Battery is draining really fast again. It seems certain Dashes/Excal's don't like OMAP.

My experience with battery is that the 6.1 ROMs in general give me much longer usage time per charge than the old T-Mobile 5.0 or 6.0 ROMs. With T-Mo I could almost get to the end of day 2 with light use - so reality was I had to charge overnight every night. With 6.1 ROMs I can get almost 4 days - so only have to charge about every third night.

The Kavana/Rick ROMs both gave pretty much comparable battery life right off the bat.

The Rose ROMs all suffer from a huge battery drain caused by the Auto Starting of the HTC Weather Application Updater. I have found that if you disable that starting by renaming or removing the Registry Entry associated, the battery life is similar to the older 6.1 ROMs.

If you look in

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\BootLauncher\Apps\H TCSlidingPanel

there is a String named Module. You can delete it entirely (I simply rename it to ModuleX)

Renaming or deleting this key will stop the Weather Application Updater from starting, and in my experience stopped my battery drain too.

For me it's not just battery drain, I been noticing that the phone gets hot to the touch. Even the original T-Mobile ROM did that once I installed the overclocker. I removed the overclocker and the problem went away. So, now I'm working on editing the Rose 1.6 ROM to remove OMAPCLOCK. Then I'll see how it acts. I'd litery down my battery down in 2-3 hrs tops if the once the phone starting getting hot and it wouldn't charge the battery either.

Is there any software can measure current on smartphone ( Excalibur)? I knew there is abcpowermwter for PPC, but seems not working well on Excalibur because it's 240x320 display not 320x240.

OMAP CLOCK not being in the build should not make a difference as it doesn't run untill you set a clock and enable?
But it works for you so :)

I have no clue why but I realised it when if I'd underclock it'd cool off for a bit then have to underclock more. Maybe somehow it was messing with the registry if the registry has any setting for the omap speed. All I know is my Dash is working fine now other then not being able to receive messages. I can send them though which is weird lol.

Edit: Oh yeah I noticed there's a setting missing from Connections that was in WM6.0 from T-Mobile. I forget the setting name, but it let you choose between transparent and non-transparent as well as v.92 or v.94 if I remember correctly. When I first got my Dash I had to call Tech Support, because my internet wasn't working and it was that setting I had to change.

MMS is working, it just always give that error message. You mus dial the "complete" phone # though. 1 + area code + phone #, if you don't the message won't go through...

I would like to buy a 2200mAh battery and see that the vast majority of the ones available online and on eBay are the ones that fatten up the back of the phone to what looks like double the thickness. However, I also found this Xell Battery (http://www.xell.hk/e/default_home.asp?url=http://www.xell.hk/e/product/product_detail.asp?sku=4074). Anyone have any experience with it? It doesn't look thicker to me. Or can anyone suggest a battery? I have tried searching but am having issues with restricting the search to just the Dash/Excalibur forum.

Thanks!

All extended batteries for the Dash over 1250 slim are going to be thicker. It really does not add that much more girth to the Dash and actually makes holding onto the little bugger a bit more secure. The only trouble I had with a thicker battery was it would not fit into my desktop Charge/sync pod, but I solved that problem with a dremel and about ten minutes of my time (I simply ground out the back of the stand to fit the new sized battery).

Totally agree on that one makes handling of Dash far more firm, i use a 1550mAh simplo, just thought i'd attach a shot that i posted elsewhere. What it really comes down too is you can have a phone that last's 4days or so with a little hump or a slim thing that's constantly on charge?

Look into a SEIDIO 1300mAh battery; Go directly through thier website.

I have been using mine for over a year and it has not given me any problems.
The battery also hods a charge longer and is only a bit thicker than stock. You will not need another battery cover.

Thanks for the quick replies everyone! I think I might as well go for the 2200mAh batteries on eBay and have a thicker phone that lasts long because currently I'm having trouble even getting it to last for a day and night if I'm going out and whatnot.

Hello,

I just got an used HTC S620 device and I've discovered that the battery goes from 30% to 2% in no more than 3 hours (max) without touching the phone!

History of the device:

The device had a WM 6 installation but I've immediately upgraded to WM 6.1.

Testing the battery:

After I've discovered the battery issue, I've downgraded to WM 6 to test the battery (thinking that WM 6.1 was eating my battery). The results were the same!

I've formatted the battery (even if I knew that Li-Ion Polymer batteries doesn't require such a format task). The battery was fully charged on Saturday... On the next Friday, the battery acts the same... from 30% to 5% or 2%. Talk time: about 15 minutes. I've also used GPRS (two e-mail addresses - one is checked at every one hour, the other one is checked at 4 hours).

I've also installed two power saving patched found on this forum. I put a minimalistic theme and no third-party applications installed or running in background.

Is it the battery?

Thank you for your time!

Even if the Battery is dying that fast in 3 hours from 30% to 2% its really normal since you may be using the phone Alot more than expected and or you need to close some tasks from running that could be eating away the memory and using more battery. Close recent tasks before starting a new one. Jeez watch the difference. Don't Have the Wifi Turned on Unless you really need it turned on. Windows Media player itself 1 song = 1% battery life. Sometimes 2 songs = 1% battery life. Different Programs take away certain percents from the Battery Life. Wifi = 2% Battery life every 5mins of use for me. Make sure you keep the phone in Lock Mode Unlock as you need to use it. Keeping it in Lock mode will keep you from accidently hitting a button which brightens the screen up everytime using a bit more battery power. Keep the dim settings for the backlight down to less than a min none of the settings should be set to above 1min or more. "example" Your using the phone playing windows media player but do you want that screen to stay on forever or do you want it to Dim and Blackout while its still playing which saves you more battery power. Really its all what you Decide. You have to manage how your gonna spend that battery life to keep it going a full day.

Hi... Thanks, but you did not paid attention or I was not explicit. The phone was freshly installed, there are no applications, the OS is default, except for the brightness settings, which are all set to the minimum value. I also keep the phone locked with pin all the time.

After full charge, the battery lasts about 4 days until it hits 30%. From 30%, WITHOUT touching the phone, it goes to 2% in about 3 hours.

I knew it was the battery, but no I am certain of that :) so I'll get a new one from ebay.

BTW: Can you guys point to a dealer that sells 1200 mAh batteries? I can't find one...

This thread started out with case suggestions and I'm looking for cases now that I flung my Dash across the room and will be replacing the screen for the second time.

Finding a case on the internet is like finding one needle in a stack of needles without being able to use your hands.

I am considering a "skin" to give me some extra protection for the occasional drop. But I also want a way to carry my phone.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a "skin"/case combination that will provide good protection and secure transport?
