ever since i told her the sticker was white though slightly pink if you look closely. now she said that i could do an exchange but if the sticker wasn't white enough i'd get charged some absurd ammount. how reliable are these stickers anyway, and if it's pinkish tint i maybe should not have mentioned is an actual indication of exposure to water and not just that there is some pink pigment in there somewhere, cuz really, now that i inspect it, the pinkishness has a poke-a-dot pattern as if if it was made that way rather than it got wet and washed itself over with it's pink pigment.

anyone have experience/knowledge on this issue? to me this doesn't look like water damage.

here's the dilemma: a customer's phone is within warranty and doesn't work and they don't know if it is because of water damage or not but of course they want to get an exchange if they are entitled to one. without the expert knowledge to determine if the phone's warranty has been voided how is he/she supposed to find out the answer without taking the risk of being charged for the replacement. i know for a fact the phone hasn't been exposed to water but i don't know what the heck this sticker is telling me if anything at all.

so please, people with this phone, please report your comparisons of this sticker under the sim card to mine. is it completely chalk white or can you detect a faint pink poke-a-dot pattern? thanks

Mine too is faintly pink dots on it and it has not been exposed to water. However I live in a VERY high humidity state (Georgia) so that could be the cause. Maybe something like that happened, which if true is not your fault at all.

Good Luck -let us know how it goes

mine is light pink and has never been exposed to water.... it has been in a highly humid enviornment before for about 2 days, Hawaii

so, i dont know what the warranty states about water dammage and the stickers...

Completely white, has been in humid environments....ive used it with wet hair and allsorts.

Unfortunatly the pink sticker issue isnt negotiable ive had to deal with that sort of problem before. The warranty guidelines the workshops have to go by will not budge :(

That white sticker (with the pink stripe/dot) is absolutely normal.
If that sticket got wet or soaked in water, that sticker would turn Blue.

When they ask you about the sticker, just tell them its white..(and dont mention the pink/red stripe as that is normal)

wow, thanks for all of your input. i've talked to at&t reps in person and they also tell me two different things. it's stupid that they don't allow you send your bad phone in before they send you the replacement to evaluate if it's warranty has been voided by water damage rather than sending you the replacement first without the option of returning it if they happen to consider your phone to be water damaged. and obviously with all the different responses ive gotten to this issue, it's difficult for one to determine on their own if their phone's warranty has been voided or not by possibly slight water damage.

anyway, i finally found one guy in town who actually repairs phones and he said that only in extreme cases where it's obvious the phone has been exposed to liquid would they void the warranty but of course he couldn't guarantee that but that if my phone were his he would definately send it back. well before i take that chance, last night i just reinstalled the OS and radio from HTC which i think i've already done before but have done again and this time i won't be installing any more programs until the phone proves to work fine then i'll install them all one by one to rule out the possibilities for each one causing my phone to not be able to establish a signal, and ultimately causing my phone to lock up. wish me luck!

ive drowned a phone or two before and even though it still worked it caused a few hicups with it here and there so i returned it....AFTER swapping the sticker from another phone ;)

clever. i actually thought about that, not to get over on em, but just because i'm afraid they'd get over on me even though mine hasn't been exposed to water.
