TellMeText intercepts incoming SMS (text) messages to your Windows Mobile device and reads them out to you before they go to your inbox. This can be really useful in situations where you have your phone but can't or don't want to physically touch it to read incoming messages. (For example, if you're driving a car or eating your lunch).
TellMeText can run in the background so it doesn't interfere with your normal use of the device.
The TextToSpeech functionality is provided by software from the Flite project.
TellMeText requires priviliged access to your device in order to intercept the SMS messages. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you download and install BlondieSoft's Windows Mobile Certificates first.

While this sounds cool I'm not so sure how great it would work for me. I don't know about everyone else but everyone that txts me writes in short hand. Hell its almost like a new language everything is short hand to fit in as much as possible as fast as possible.
It would be interesting to see how that would be read.

Yeah, you gotta go to voice command options in personel then select messaging. click notifications then pick "announce notifications through device speaker or wired headset"( default seems to be using bluetooth handsfree. I tend to turn off "Password Protected" too but not sure if this is important or not. Will announce sms messages but not sure about e-mails, haven't really tried, maybe someone can experiment and post results. Cheers. :)

I donīt like the "crappy" synthesized voice...would be great to change pitch, speed, man or woman, etc.

It would be great if we could run a command line to this program, like -on or -off, so I can make a shortcut on my Ultimate Launch. I only want this on when I'm in the car or something, and if I can easily turn it on and off with a single shortcut, that would make it very useful.

it should work as long as you uncheck the box for high priority messages only. MSVC will only read the subject on emails though.
I was using MSVC to read my texts, but because of my job title, felt it wouldn't be too professional to have it read a personal message out loud for everyone to hear. I did however have some fun seeing what it could read aloud. I.E.: the Oscar Meyer Weiner Song was hilarious to hear on it.
