Installation

- Uninstall older version
- Extract CAB, copy in Pocket PC and install
- Soft Reset Pocket PC


How to
=============================
- If during the slide from a page to another page you look a red/pink color in the names of icons go to Windows Mobile Settings -> Screen -> ClearType and disable it
- If you use ILauncher or other launcher program consider to uninstall it for best use of iFonz
- If you wnat enter directly on the General Settings click on the link in Programs Folder "iFonz Settings"
- To open General Settings Tap and Hold on background
- To open Icon Settings Tap and Hold on desired icon
- To enable/disable Windows Startup open General Settings and check/uncheck the option
- To save/load Themes and settings Tap and Hold on Battery and click on Themes->Load/Save and choose the file
- To minimize Tap and Hold on Battery in the main screen and click on minimize
- To view all Pocket PC status info Tap and Hold on Battery in the main screen and go to Status menu
- To view AM/PM hour go to Regional Settings in your pocket pc and set correctly your Timezone and Time settings
- To exit click on battery in the main screen
- To add shortcut to a folder in the command line use "\windows\fexplore.exe" and in the argument set the folder path
- To add shortcut to a midlet java in the command line use "[the path of your java manager]" and in the argument set the parameter of your java application (Es: Command: "\windows\jmm.exe" Arguments:"-r"Gmail","Google","Gmail")
- To add shortcut to an internet address write in command line the internet address
- To Copy/Swap an icon tap and hold on 1 icon and choose Copy/Swap and after tap and hold another icon and choose Paste here/Swap here
- If iFonz close when hit the "Red Button" after a call, assign a specific button of your PPC for restart it, set it in PPC settings
- If your Pocket PC is old or slow go to General Settings and disable all Special Effects and set Animation to "Nothing"
- If you do a lot of changes in General Settings and iFonz become slow, restart it
- To go in debug mode create a file "Debuco" in the iFonz directory and use the program. In the folder i create a new text file called Logfile.txt with all operations and errors
- For lock device and show a big image of caller whe you receive a call use S2U2 program (The best ever from A_C)

- Pink/Red letters on slide are coming because is active in Windows Mobile Settings the ClearType Text option, if you disable it the letters color are ok
- The "!" in calendar icon is deleted if you not select to view the appointments
- Reduced space between icons if you choose to not show name of icons. Now in a QVGA with icons 48x48 without names and bottom bar you can set 20 icons for page

The basics are all there and ssj5trunks deserves a lot of credit for a very good first beta.

However, I found it quite slow and I started getting memory errors within a few minutes of starting to use it. I also got a fair few program errors.

With a little more work this has great potential but I may just wait a little longer until some of the bugs are ironed out.

Great job though, please stick with it.

good work sir!! pretty cool app and really easy to configure!! it does launch apps a little slow, but not to bad. overall an 8. all it needs now is a little graphics work on the animations once apps are launched and that would be great. also, try some different icons. i know the people we have here on xda are far better designers than most of the people who design these big name products. so, give it a whirl. thanks alot though.

Hi to all.
The bottom menu bar is not editable for now, but for next release i work on it.
I want add in the bottom bar the calendar and do the same thing of iPhone that show the name and the number of the day.

If icons show bad you must do a better work on graphics.
The application get the first pixel upper left to do the transparent color, i use fucsia because in the icons i don't use it.
The background color of the icons must has solid color and not compressed(jpeg image).

If the application animation is slowly some time, it depends to ppc processor, i have a HTC Tytn with 400Mhz processor, others ppc are different and solowly processor do a slowly animation.
If the animation is slowly set in General settings No animation in special effect.

I think i can improve a better quickly animation but it's very hard work.
I use a timer to move icons but it take a lot of processor work.

If anyone know VB.NET 2005 development talk with me to another solution to move icons.
All work are done with GDI+.

This Software works great on TYTN II!!!!!!!

The main improvment should be speed of the icons rearrangment when moving from Portrait to Landscape and vice versa.

First of all, I want to say congratulations to ssj5trunks and thanks for the latest step forward in Windows Mobile IPhone software/applications. Every first release has limitations as does iFonz. But it does provide some of the cleanest graphics yet and by far the best configuration options of all of the IPhone apps available here or anywhere else. I think the Itask application has groundbreaking animations but it doesn't even come close to IFonz graphic clarity and configuration. If some of the aspects of Itask's animation and IFonz' graphics and configuration were combined, we would finally have a true replication of the Iphone interface. For now, great job ssj5trunks. Please keep us informed with any feedback or assistance we can provide as you work toward further improvements. Thanks again.

I think, animation is beautiful but speed it's more important for this moment.

It's the best iPhone like application because it has a lot of customization. I've tested iTask and PointUi and for me iFonz is better even if it has less animations and speed than them.

- When you increase the number of pages, if select the page right away, it will give error. If you save, then use the interface to edit, everything works.

I really like this program, but I'm struggling to get the icons to match my programs that I insert into the screen. What's the best way to find an icon for the programs I am using. For instance, if Garmin Mobile XT is a program, where do I find it's icon? Sorry for the basic question, but I couldn't find it in a search.

As an ipod touch owner/hacker, I can pass on this little trick apple uses for their own fast screen transition animations. They actually capture a screen shot and cache it, whenever a springboard (the screens with the icons) screen changes. When they need to do transitions between two screens, they essentially put up two static screen shots (the current and next page) and just pan across those two images in a 2x screen image buffer overlayed over the background image. Very fast, very smooth. The destination screen (be it an application or the next springboard page) is rendered over the final scroll animation, and then the static image overlay is removed. Result - fast, smooth, near instant scrolling on a 412mhz cpu.

Not suggesting you do this, but just passing along the idea.

Hum... that takes away some calculation pain out of the PPC processor :D

I've been playing with it through the day and I'd like to share my experience:
- Until the Slide animation speed is fixed/increased, I recommend disabling it on the settings.
- Add a preview on image icons when we are selecting the icons, its hard to memorize names, but its easy to recognize an icon.
- Add the name of the application on top, when we are selecting the icon. When I was selecting the icon, if I took some time to find what I wanted, I would forget what application it was...
- I don't know if its something to do with WM6.1, but your settings program (the one that appears when we click Settings button), the icons don't match the text. The text is right, the icons are wrong. Maybe it has something to do with how the icons are numbered now on the dll's where the settings program gets them.

from all the iphone themes out there I believe this one is best and has the most potential, and even just on the first try. once some small changes take effect this program will be a must...and donations will follow.

i know some of these have been said before but just compiling a list that would make this program insanely amazing.

the biggest problem for me is when i got 2 voicemails and 2 showed up on top of messages, i click on it and it just leads to me my messages inbox, which is completely empty because i use sms-chat which deletes them. a lot of people will be switching to sms chat so this is a must to be able to configure messages with sms chat...and if you get voicemails and it shows that you have them when you click on that button it should lead you to your voicemail, not text message inbox. not too big of a deal though.

spent so much time on a great intro video that when actually using the program it lacks speed when switching landscape and portrait and when it is just beginning.

also i dont think anyone has mentioned this but would it be possible to use more than 12 icons on a page? when you take away the text and make them slightly smaller i think itd be very easy to fit 4 more icons in.

animated button pushing would be nice, but just a small detail that would make the program sweeter cuz sometimes i dont know if im pushing it hard enough, and i dont want to hold it in cuz then it goes to its settings.

different background pictures for each page would be pretty sweet as well.

the settings button on the first page should be for the main settings of the program, instead of having the 4 bottom buttons being the main settings buttons when held in (cuz they should be their own settings for that icon just like the others.)

im sure as i use this more and more i may find a small thing here or there, but hey for the first try you did a very very good job. nice work and keep it coming.

This is by far the best version yet! Not to take anything away from the others that have come up with some really nice stuff.
This one installs on SD card (runs just a tad slow, but save precious memory)
The configeration is a breeze.
The animation is too cool.
I believe you can have up to 12 pages, each with 12 icons Wow 144 links.
And to top it all off I'm running it on an I-Mate JAQ with a lowly 200mz processor.
Keep up the great work.

There is just one question i have - When i access the settings button it takes me to a settings windows but the icons dont match up to the names... is there anyway to link it directly to the settings on the device instead of pointing to the utils directory?

after it looked great during the first day i am close to taking it back...

just the icons for me dont look good. i put the exact same calendar icon in the first block next to the 2nd one, and it looked so blurry. i configured 3 pages and they are all kind of blurry, and none of them are the same size, even though i have it set at 44x44.

also has anyone noticed when switching to landscape that an icon might leave behind a few white pixels? it did that for me and it doesnt go away, even when i changed the background and then went back to it, it was still there.

You have to install the new version of microsoft .net compact framework 2.0 from microsoft site.
Search it on google and install it.

This interface is a good development.

few points to feedback to developer:

usages based on installed on HTC Tytn II

1. Program remain minimise after other function, example after picking up call.
It will be good if the program can rewrite in the way to always stay on top of other program once finish other function on the PDA phone.

2. Configuration of icon will be better if call out from a menu rather then tap and hold icon.
This is because sometime we accidentally hold on to icon (example, PDA slip of from hands), we go into the icon setting screen.

3. Program become very slow after some other functions made on the device.
Hope that the program can write in a way to exclusive run in memory of the device to gain speed

4. Customisable for even icons below the main screen. reason being every user uses different programs to replace the default in the PDA.
Example pocket music player to window media player, this way we can call out the like of our program from this row of icons.

5. Develop to help to list the link, shortcuts to the default functions in window ce, example the contact list, the program folder..
How to set arguement etc.
Not everyone is well verse in PDA, thus by doing so, will greatly help everyone to enjoy this great product!

Some praise to the current development.

1. Making the numbers of pages is great with customisable numbers of icons.

2. Finger swapping between pages is cool!

3. Customisable icons is too cool to miss a comment!

4. The whole look of the interface is the most remarkable development I had seen on iphone interface on window based PDA. Well Done!

Hi, great application that you are making, I suggest you some improvements (at least from my point of view) some of them I think they have been already discussed here.
1) Customizable Bottom icon
2) As you create new pages their content is equal to the precedent, that is OK but there is no way to delete some icons, or I am not able to do it, I want a page only for games and I don´t have enouch games to fill the screen. You can allways put a blank icon but I think that there is no way to put a blank text.
3) Regarding the pages, perhaps it should be useful if they work cyclically, I mean, you scroll from page 1 to page 2, from page 2 to page 3, and from page 3 to page 1 again.

for weatherpanel...i set it to my today screen and used the iphone skin. i then linked the weather icon in ifonz to efrost minimize so it takes me to my today screen (weather panel) and thanks to ftouchsl a swipe from right to left takes me back to ifonz....makes for a nice smooth iphone like experience :-)

also using an iphone dial pad and s2u2 with the iphone skin. had a few people in an elevator the other day asking if i had hacked the iphone os to work on a windows mobile phone lol

Loaded onto my X51V and it does work but only half of the screen is used which is due to my unit having a VGA screen. I would be willing to test your next release if you should need any additional VGA testers. Very nice application.

If i block it the only other solution for exit the program is unmount the battery.

The "Arguments" field is too restricted for customization. I'd like to add "-service "Activesync" -to "") but there aren't enough characters allowed.

Can you allow us to point to folders as well as executables?
Can you Distinguish somehow bettwen the types of messages in the bottom bar? For example, I'd like to know what the count on the "Messages" icon represents (SMS/email/MMS). Ideally, I'd replace the "phone" icon with a second messages icon since I have a hardware button for "Phone".
Ability to move icons / rearrange a page.

If your OS is WM5 or WM6 there should be no problem. Your unit should also have a qvga screen. I have a X51V with a vga screen and it installed fine but only takes up 1/2 of the screen and turns everything into 1/2 size. Other then that it works just fine.

I am waiting for the VGA version to come out and it should be an great application for me.

It would be really nice, if it had an option to control phone particular settings (volume, profiles, wifi on, bluetooth on, etc), but design it to resemble the options page in iFonz, not a regular WM drop down menu.

Problem:
Treo 705 WM6 : I do not see any buttons on bottom bar (the static ones). The bottom bar is simply the grey bar.

Screen on 750 is I believe 240x240.

I have this now for a few days and i love it. I have a question about the icons. I have see in the extra icons folder that it ar PNG files. So i thought "I make my own icons". I made an image the size of 42x42 and saved it as an PNG-file. Copied to my device and in iFonz i tried to make it work in iFonz. Immediately iFonz crashes and i have to restart it again. How do i make my icons in the right format/way?

Hi,

I have this now for a few days and i love it. I have a question about the icons. I have see in the extra icons folder that it ar PNG files. So i thought "I make my own icons". I made an image the size of 42x42 and saved it as an PNG-file. Copied to my device and in iFonz i tried to make it work in iFonz. Immediately iFonz crashes and i have to restart it again. How do i make my icons in the right format/way?

Use an icon of extra or default icon and test to edit one of it and set to 1 shortcut on iFonz.
I edit every day icons but no one give me iFonz crashes.

What a look for our PDA's...

I only encounter difficulties with the 2 icons files (zip) which are not readable while unziping them ( the zip file seems empty but the file size is not zero ).
An idea ? (I have tried several unzip softwares and I have downloaded several times....)

if a text message arrives, I get an alert under messages which is really email not SMS.

I hope you fix this in next release!

Edit: Looks like this is a bug for those of us who have separated SMS and Email. Just read all 19 pages and it looks like no one else has reported this behavior.

The iFonz 0.7.6 is ready for use, and now i explain all functions.

Installation
-Copy the cab on cell
-Start the cab installation
-Install it where you want (Device or storage is same)
-After installation iFonz link is on Programs menu

Configuration
Start the application and watch it.
After u can do all setting directly on iFonz.
For set the general setting tap and hold on background.
For set the button setting tap and hold on button.
For minimize and view other information tap and hold on battery.
To exit tap on battery.

There are a lots of options, discover all and set as your flavor.

I test iFonz on my HTC TyTN and all goes good, report here or in my blog the problems on your device.
Go to my blog to view the video tutorial.

Connect PDA with Active Sync
Launch MSI => Install .Net Framework 2
Then Active sync launch .cab to PDA

i can customize all my icons and paths except only the 4 bottom icons? like phone,sms,intenet and music?i found the folder in the registry under your company name.I didn't see a location for those icons them self though...Can you help me out on that?Or anyone for that part?Ihave ppod and wanted to key it for the actual music icon.but it directs towards wmplayer...and when i press and hold any icon in the bottom row it opens up actual program settings unlike the other ones..

So far so good. I had been using Grumps which was also very nice. The thing I like about this one is the built in button configuration. I turned off all animations and so speed is ok. Still some annoying bugs but I havn't found anything not already mentioned in the thread. Looking forward to the next release. Nice work.

I have to say a very nice application, using a HTC Touch and works with no major problems whatso ever, however I would request the following changes if any:

* Disable the exit of iFone when the red hard-end call button is pressed
* Implementation of the sliding lock

-Little laggy
-Sometimes it hangs and become totally unresponsive (soft reset needed)

I am French, this is my first message in a forum and I am junior with my HTC touch 3450. I am very impressed by XDA developments.

I love iFonz: this is a Great application.

I have a question - maybe it is stupid but... - : why IFONZ is not a plugin?

This would allow to keep existing top WM bar with battery icon, wifi etc... and
after closing a programm, you would be sure to be redirected to Ifonz and not the today screen as it sometime happens. It would also allow to keep Quick menu and task managers while using Ifonz.

se posso permettermi, ti segnalo alcune imperfezioni e ti do qualche suggerimento...:

1-personalizzare le icone della barra sotto ma hai detto che già lo farai nella prossima versione che ora tutti attendiamo impazientemente!
2-fare in modo che si visualizzi quando ci sono sms o chiamate nuove con il classico simbolino rosso sopra l'icona degli sms o delle chiamate, altrimenti se no n ho la suoneria posso anche non accorgermi se mi arriva qualcosa!
3-la scritta vodafone (per chi ha questo operatore) è tagliata nella barra sopra..io visualizzo VODAFON... e tre puntini finali, anche perchè dopo c'è l'orario
4-quando si personalizzano i tasti, non si possono mettere collegamenti a cartelle ma solamente a file applicazione...

also, how does it work with s2u2? everytime the phone locks, i unlock and it goes back to the today screen, with ifonz minimized. happens everytime, has never gone back to ifonz

As for the bottom 4 buttons, I really don't care about the Phone and Email buttons but the other two would be nice to customize since most use 3rd party browsers and Music players.

humm.. the url's to these streams constantly change so coping the link to the command line doesnt work more than once, it needs to be clicked directly from the site:

power 105.1 new york. i can save that as a fovorite in pocket IE and it works every time i click on my favorites, but i cannot link favorites to the comand line of a button on ifonz... any suggestions?
