I have now Shadow 2.1 TE ROM and my alarm don't play sound. Notification popup ok, but the sound dont'play. I tried default sounds, my own sounds a still don't play. I don't know where is it a problem. Id is a problem in ROM, in flashing or in some app, what i installed. Please help me somebody. I don't wan't some 3rd part alarm compensation

Instead of reflashing the ROM, you should have tried to search this topic. :rolleyes:

The problem is well known and there is a post on this thread describing how to solve it:

I found a workaround that works flawlessly for me:

Disable HTCHome (Settings -> Today )
Open regedit en delete all key's in:
HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCHome\Weather
and
HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCHome\Weather\Settings

now both keys are completely empty you should have:
HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCHome\Weather (empty)
HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCHome\Weather\Forecast0 (empty)
HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCHome\Weather\Settings (empty)

close regeditor

enable HTCHome, on todayscreen goto weather tab and select your city.
It now should update only sets temp. in F not in C.

again open regeditor and add dword value to:
HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCHome\Weather\Settings
DWORDNAME: Celsius VALUE: 1

and thats it, it should work!! Please comment if in trouble..

Also, I am on Rogers and have Name Display - does this ROM support Name Display?Yes, there's always a chance you may brick your phone to a point you can't bring it back even to the original ROM. Is that risk high? Not if you follow all the steps, but that risk exists.

I think most of the ppl here brick their ELF(in) while trying to CID unlock it. Make sure you choose the right USPL that corresponds to your IPL / SPL (v1? v2?) and do your homework before you start.

Once you've successfully CID unlocked your phone, the risk of bricking your phone is very low IMO.

But if you don't feel comfortable with it, then don't do it, that risk always exists.

Hi buddy, I found the tool, but whatever is done through changing the PP by searching the offset and alter the value is only for ELF, ELFin needs to alter the XIP before packing the files into the signed nbh, so I may have to wait for a larger PP version Shadow then...

My Elfin is not slow at all. I'm using the Shadow 2.1 CE version and I've got dynamic overclocking with BatteryStatus. The speed is more than enough for me.Depends on what you define as "slow".

The Touch should not be 'slow' when navigating through menu's, or using basic softwares (calendar, contacts, or word, excel etc). You will, however, experience the 'slowness' if you try to play video files, or do something that's extremely CPU intensive. This is afterall a 200MHz processor.

Using CE DOES speed things up significantly, and I strongly suggest CE over TE.

There are other ways to speed things up a bit too, like overclocking, or tweaking registry to increase system cache (at the price of storage / program memory).

If after flashing TE ROM you experience slowness even in terms of how fast the start menu refreshes, then maybe you want to reflash again. I had t his problem when I flashed my wife's Cheetah (Treo 750) with Wm6.1, and reflashing it fixed the problem.

Don't know if i'm being dumb here, but tried to flash this rom to an Elf since this rom was built for a Elf + Elfin, according to the tittle of this topic.
now, followed all the steps, CID unlocked the phone and correctly flashed the rom to the phone. after marveling at how fast the phone was, started getting strange phone resets, until i woke up this morning and the phone wouldn't get past the "Smart mobility" screen.
now, can anyone please tell me what i'm doing wrong? been searching around and can't get the phone to work. tried different rom versions, with successful flashing, but the phone still gets stuck at the same screen?

I've tried installing this rom two times now, both from the mediafire link and the rapidshare link. Both times I receive an error after 3% saying the rom is corrupt. Then my phone reboots and everything seems fine. Any idea what could be wrong? Seems strange that I receive corrupt rom on both downloads without anyone else having the same problem. One thing I noticed is that the up and side-to-side animations are kind of slow for the touch cube, is there a registry entry I can edit to make it as fast as the down animation?

I have been using the Shadow 2.1TE for months and my comment for it is one word: stable
I have to say it is not the fastest one around since it has only got one version and it is using the stock 12MB dynamic PP which is just about right but you would expect a 16-18MB PP would improve the overall performance.
Then all of a sudden, a multi PP version of Blue Elves came out, by natural mean, I moved to it because of the PP size but nothing else.
It is smoother than the Shadow I have to say but the stability is not as good, I used the same set of apps and settings so I can tell.

So who is the true winner?
Well, I have tried: Mobiz, Viet, Blue, and I concluded that the following are the most important when comes to a cooked ROM:
1 - What is included and what is not
2 - What can be installed and what cannot
3 - Speed x Stability

If 1 x 2 x 3, I have experienced, Shadow 2.1 TE is what I use now knowing that changing the PP is so easy.

I know this thread is quite long, but next time don't be lazy to click "Search this thread" and input "weather" into search column. One of post you'll find would help you.. It's this one:

For FTP is use Total Commander (CeCmd)
For the weather you just need to :
- disable HTC Home plugin
- go to the registry (with Cecmd or PHM regedit for example)
go to HKML/Softwares/HTC/HTCHome/weather/settings/ and delete every thing in there
- also delete every thing in the HKML/Softwares/HTC/HTCHome/weather/ exept the settings folder
- Relaunch HTCHome and sync again

And I've used this woderfull ROM made by Cloudyfa!!!
It's looking great and I also solved the weather problem...
However there are to questions (points) which I would like to solve before saying that it's working perfectly, even the internet connection:

1- After I install the new ROM, my ActiveSync doesn't work properly... =(
I try to sync the contacts within my outlook, but in the mobile I got the message "Cannot connect with curent connection settings. To change your connection settings, tap Settings". But I have never configured anything to make activesync works in the previous ROM... I'm completely lost!!!:(
Can anyone help me?!

2- Is there any way or link where I can install Windows Live Messenger for WM6.1?

I'm pretty new in this "ROM Updating" thing... so, sorry if I made any dumb question...:rolleyes:

Recommend you to re-install all apps again, never restore previous ROM's apps like this, esp using Sprite Backup.

I couldn't get AM/PM show on HTC Home. Yes, I modified the registry keys, and changed regional settings, but nothing of them works. The strangest thing is the AM/PM does show under regional time settings and Clock & Alarms settings, just not HTC home. I'm sure AM/PM is working, HTC Home just refused to use it. Has anyone seen this problem?

Hey guys, I'm not posting this to flame anyone this seems like an amazing rom.

I have the 128 mb touch from Rogers in Canada, and this bricked my device ... twice.

I don't know why, but after being installed for a short time (20 mins) it just turned off .. and wouldn't turn back on. Assuming I had screwed it up, I was luckily able to reflash in bootloader mode to a different rom and then put this back on.

And it happened again.

The third time I must say, I tried the blue elf rom. I've had no issues except that I don't like it as much. So beware ... I am not versed enough to know why this bricked my device but it did.

Thanks for the great work, hopefully you can discover what the issue is - I really liked the speed and interface.

go to start>settings>connections>bluetooth on the mode tab tick the box turn on bluetooth and make this device visible to other devices. click ok on the upper right of the screen.

for beaming files(RECIEVE) over bluetooth go to start>settings>connections>beam and check RECIEVE ALL INCOMING BEAMS

I've tried 3 Roms before I could manage to flash this to my Elfen and it is a great one and I wish every body using this ROM to post a Wishing List for the next ROM by Cloudyfa.
My First wish is please use ZoomBoard keyboard couse it has more than 12 languages layout , so a lot of us can use it.
My second wish is could u please make or use SunnySoft Layouts in the dialer by HTC , it will be perfect to be able to change the Dialing pad layout (Phone Dailer) to deferent languages cose I've seen that in a Russian sight but can't remember which one.

Now to my question,
I've managed to put in ur ROM (_ExtROM.nb) file which i've taken from my original ROM and the purpose is when i do a hard rest it will install automatically but it never runs.
Could u advice me please should i add any thing to the IMGFS files to make the (_ExtROM.nb) file run automatically.

I have in the past few days tested out many roms for my p3300 (Artemis) and p3450 (Elf Touch) and my observation is that this ROM of yours is definately the most simplified interface for a very extensively planned ROM. It is not only fast, has a wonderful radio, and works like a dream. I must say you have done a better job than the company itself. Man is a greedy animal and so am I (I am going to hunt and see if you have done a ROM for the Artemis :) )Ofcourse many of the others too have tried to help people like me and have shared their work on this excellent forum. Cheers to them and their efforts. I WANT TO APPRECIATE THE EFFORTS that many have done at a price that "God only Knows". Because FREE SERVICE is no doubt a costly affair ;) . I am genuinely in awe of the courage you people have. I have no words to equate the joy I have felt at seeing my phone perform like this.

mmhhh this rom is very great
but like every 6.1 rom i've tested there is a problem with memory management..

each day i have to reboot the touch... just after a reboot i've 18MB free and after some hours it can decrease up to 5MB...

i wonder, someone know why windows 6.1 don't release the memory?
is there a tweak to release memory when a program quit?

i've checked all the process, and i can't find where my memory is...
device.exe and gwes.exe are the 2 process wich take the most of the memory (5MB each process)... perhaps they are in fault?

My phone suffers from freezing and randomly powering off. i've read in the forum that it might be due to imcompatible Spl and Ipl versions.

That propably has more to do with With the Rom then then the SPL.

But maybe it is SPL but you have a bigger change getting an answer from other Shadow 2.1 TE users.

I use this rom with some changes on my elf.
The first problem is the memory program when i use gps navegation and many others like:
-UL
-Baterystatus
-PoketWeather
-TomTom 7
-Ndrive
-MW2.2
-SetVolume........
-And skins........
Baterystatus at 234mhz, bost 260mhz
Pagepool = 2 Mb = free + 6Mb for ram
Disable HTC cube, I don´t use and + ram
Works very well and fast.

Try olso to flash with original rom, search on the forum.

It really has been a while, I do believe you know what I mean by "a while", since many other ROMs has gone beyond the build 2xxxx, and showed tremendous performance step up, I am still with Shadow, main reason is clear, stability and compatibility.
However, I also believe that a new build of the Shadow can push the limit of this brand to a new height.

I used to have on my TOUCH ELF de ITALIAN version, i couldn`t stand it , beside the language , the wi-fi didn`t let me to connect to password protected networks,and the phone moved slow. After i flashed this rom, all my problems dissapeared,the wi-fi works perfect,the language is english and the phonne moves faster.U get a lot of brand new options and settings,that make u enjoy the touch experience.

thanks for all the great work being done on the roms..

I should point out that I am a Vista user, and was only able to get the roms onboard by enabling both 'run as administrator' AND winxp sp2 compatability on ALL of the 10 exe's included in the Blue Elves RUU loader app etc.

I had used that same loader to load the SHADOW rom this past weekend (switched out the rom files as suggested somewhere on this thread), but had to go back to BE5 after trying to update the camera to later version, as the bundled one was way too low resolution, esp after seeing the 2mb feature in the one included with Blue Elves (Its green on start, why are they called Blue Elves?)

My question is: is there an updated cab for cam?
I tried the nadavi updates and the oem, I did it by installing the album 1st as recommended. It appeared to be same version as already on shadow.
Each time it said there was some kind of permission issue and would not allow update, so no cam. So I went back to elves 5.

I prefer Shadow, to be honest, its slightly more stable, and both look good.
Also, BE is continuously telling me my network settings are wrong (from Canada, no setting for us), did this on 1st install as well.

i asked for classic vew without disabling the sms notifications... when u have SMSAvailable set to 0, receiving an sms will not make a sound or vibrate!

There is also this:

You have to create the OEM folder yourself but apart from that it seems to work okay.

As soon as I start the wizard step that starts the rom update, my pda screen goes black, and the wizard returns a connection error after a few seconds (I never broke the connection...)

Windows Mobile Device Center returns a disconnected state

I replug the usb cable, and everything comes back to normal, except that the rom uptade didn't run...

any ideas?

I am a vista user and the ONLY way I was able to get it to run the 5 or so times I have done this successfully (sometimes it will just not run proper first time or two, keep at it) is to right click on each exe in the folder(s), and in compatibility mode, choose xpsp2 and run as admin!
That will do it, unless its something else, in which case, it won't!

i recently upgrade my shadow 2TE to shadow2.1TE and did flash the latest ipl/uspl. no problems with flashing. problem is when my wife opened word mobile it wont open, powerpoint and excel works but word doesnt. has anybody experienced this? any solution? any registry tweak? or is there a cab file to install word mobile? thanks in advance.

Very good ROM. I remember using of it when I was changing shipped original ROM to another. Good for beginners for now. There's a lot of ROMs with new sys builds, but that has htccube and looks like shipped ROMs with some addons.
