there are several doom1&2 ports as well as quake1-3 for pocketpc
these are pretty direct ports of the old pc versions which are only software rendered
so they dont benefit from a ati or nvidia based acc chip like
the on not working because of poor drivers on kaiser and other qcom devices

so it matters little

Yes, metallica's in there.
the song's are listed at the end. Metalica, Black Sabbath, Slayer, and Panterta.

I did not need to peform any speed tweaks, gfDoom is fast already, i would have displayed the framerate but this blocks out other messages from being seen during the game. the framerate is at a minimum of 30fps. and it keeps going from 30 to 45 and back.

It took me forever just to even get this working right, In october when i very first got my kaiser this was one of the first apps i put on it, and i wasnt able able to get my on config, or use the keyboard. i would like to thank a member on this board for showing me how to configure my keys.

to toggle landscape mode you must go into options and select between low and high quality, it doesnt really toggle the quality, it toggles landscape or portrait.

ok so key config,
you need to edit one of the skins, the .txt file.

at the bottom you need to add each button. it would look like this:

VKHWBUTTON

after VKHWBUTTON you put which button (in code) so for example

VKHWBUTTON 190

now you need to tell it what the button does, so lets say, fire.

VKHWBUTTON 190 FIRE

that's 1 example, ive made it so the . button fires.

use this app to find out what each button's code is.

another example would be

VKHWBUTTON 13 OPEN

13 is space bar.

so VKHWBUTTON 13 OPEN makes it so spacebar is the open key.

Can it be played on a Touch?
yes, but your best bet is to play it in portrait and not landscape. landscape will still work with the onscreen buttons, but you may have to edit them to feel comfortable while playing.

yes, open the skin file.

at the top you will see

;make room for a titlebar

right below it add "Left_HANDED 1"

that should fix it.

yes, a very fine gif image of Crysis, YES.

yes it has about the same processor, kaiser uses the 7200 chip and the Titan/Mogul/6800 uses the 7500 chip. they are roughly the same.

yes by all means, try it on your wizzard! it should run great! doom doesnt require much CPU power, and this port is fast.

are you using a working .wad? are you selecting a wad? lol. there are 2 exe's, one for seting up the game and one just launches your last used settings, make sure you set up the game.

I use the . button to fire, and i use n and m to strafe left and right. then of corse i use the D-pad to do the rest of the moving.

not that i know of, the only way to check would have to be to play the PC version and see if any of the keys change left and right, if it does, you can check the config file on the PC version and see what the command is.
but also, are you aware that the onscreen keys work? you can still tap the numbers at the bottom of the screen..

Firstly, thanks Mikeeey for this. I am faced with goingto work later this week on light duty meaning I'll be siting bored with nothing to do! Now, I have something to do! LOL! :)

I even purchased Final Doom from IDE's site today, $20.00 direct download, just to get the WAD files. Oh I'm sure I have the game around here somewhere but that was easier than searching for it. Plus I never did have the Expansions for it. LOL!

Okay, couple of questions. While my Kaiser's keyboard is closed but am in Landscape Modethe direction pad works as it should. Pressing UP moves Forward, ect.. Slide the keyboard open and the directional pad shifts, as it probably should, and it messes up the controls. So, I need to program this so that like pressing right goes Forward or something like that so that when the keyboard is open the directional pad operates as it should. So, do you have the name of the program that you mentioned that I can press buttons and get the numbers I need to put in the text file or, better yet, if you have a vesion of the default file that's working as it should that would be great as well.

Second question, the original default file had TAB set up to bring up the mini-map for the game. Your default one doesn't. Do you happen to know the missing line of code so I can put it back?

And, last question. Anyone founf the command to get the console to open so you can type the cheats in? LOL. You remember, full ammo, or even God Mode. Of course those were probably in the actaual executable not the WAD files.

Forgot about the direct entry of the cheat codes. It's been a few days since I played DOOM. Hehe... The fact that the codes work is awsome! Thanks again, the change from 9 to 65 fixed the map and you're right oddly tab now opens it again as well. Hehe... Oh and yep, didn't think about having the keyboard open before launching the game. That fixed the directional pad issue as well. So, I'm all fixed up. :)

Now lets get these things playing UNREAL! Multi-Player through WiFi and even Bluetooth for two player matches! Muahaha... Uh, what? You want me to work? But I'm about to get "Flack Monkey!". ;)

I mean I know that it's not in the game, but there's a part of the video where you select Level 30 and as soon as your loaded in the music starts. The timing made it look like the music was in-game. lol i used windows movie maker and just added it in. that would be nice if it was in the game, as those were the real versions of the songs used in doom.

I did the key configuration and it still wont work wit then. I put in the key numbers like S is 83 on my mogul and didnt work. Also, My game never opens widescreen while have my keyboard slide out before running doom.

Once the gfdoom is loaded open up the options by default one of the hardware keys will open the menu, use the D-Pad to go down to options, open it and then select Detail level, changing it to LOW will get you landscape mode.

Also all you have to do is slide the keyboard out and enter any of those oh so famous codes... idkfa, iddqd etc... and what do you know they work! you can then slide the keyboard back, the rotation never changes.

I've managed to get my keys setup almost how I want them, just wish I cud just set 2 buttons for next and previous weapon instead of 7 keys.
Is there a way to make it automatically load into landscape mode?
Im runnin on the kaiser and everytime i load the game i first have to rotate the screen to landscape.

I have DoomPDA on my kaiser, but it does not allow me to configure keys. Furthermore, it doesn't uninstall by itself.

Im tired of playing with the standard keys when I have a qwerty keyboard to use -.-

Do you recommend another version of Doom? If yes, is it a good idea to manually uninstall DoomPDA by removing files 1 by 1?

(When I try to use the uninstall, it says some files cannot be removed, when I go check the DoomPDA folder it has all original files)

And btw, DoomPDA does not install on Storage Card, even though i checked that option on install, it installs directly in the phone's memory.

Please help mate.

I'm pretty sure Mikey is using the gfDoom which u can get from here (http://www.tucows.com/preview/289013).
You will also need the WAD files that you can get from the shareware or retail versions of Doom, just search google for them. This software doesnt come with an installer, you just copy it to your phone or memory card.
I'm personally using gfDoom and its working great on my Tytn 2 (Kaiser), sadly you have to map the keys yourself using the key codes and a config file, everythin is explained in this thread tho.
But just to help you out, here's the config I'm using and I've attached the file.
First off, open the keyboard on the phone and then load gfDoom or the keys mess up, but heres wot I use (With screen open and phone on its side!!!)

Top part of dpad - Forward
Bottom part of dpad - Backward
Left part of dpad - Left
Right part of dpad - Right
Green Answer key - Menu/Pause
End Hangup key - Quit
Spacebar - Open
Fullstop button - Fire
Tab button - Map (Set by engine)
N key - Strafe
Del key - Run
Q key - Weapon 1 (Fists/Chainsaw)
W key - Weapon 2 (Pistol)
E key - Weapon 3 (Shotgun)
R key - Weapon 4 (Chaingun I think)
T key - Weapon 5 (Rocket Launcher?)
Y key - Weapon 6 (Plasma Rifle possibly)
U key - Weapon 7 (BFG - Oh yeah!)

You will need to copy that into the "gfDoom\Skins\Default" - You may want to rename the original first incase you ever want to try that.
Sadly with that setup you cant use all the cheats as some of the letters (QWERTYU) are mapped to functions, but personally I want to try to play the game without cheating lol.
Also you must rotate the screen each time you load from portrait to landscape by pressing the Green Answer key, down to menu then change detail level and itll flip the screen.
Hope this gets you up and running and killing lots and lots of demons lol!

I found out that on gfDoom I can aim with the stylus, but whenever I click on the screen I start to run. What i want is to run/strafe with ASDF (which i allready know how to configure) but at the same time aim with the stylus while not running around :/

So, does anyone knows what I have to write in the doomskin.txt file?

From my experience with tryin to use the stylus to aim, (Or just holding anythin on the screen while trying to play anything) the framerate drops and the game begins to stutter, still playable but no wer near as smooth.
This is the only time I have any problems with my kaiser, which seems to be a common known issue.

Can anyone help me with getting gfDoom to run in landscape had a look round the net and everywhere mentions it but no one says how to go about it :( I have an Ameo so want to enjoy it using the full screen instead of the tiny strip across the top :) also thanks to whoever posted the keycode app will come in handy for trying to figure out what my usb gamepad maps to on the phone.

Go into the options, change the graphic detail from high to low, it doesnt change the graphic detail, it rotates the screen between landscape and portrait.
I do believe that this was answered on the 2nd or 3rd page of this thread as well.

Unfortunately I don't no of any way to automatically set it to landscape as you load it but I'm gonna have a look see what I can find as that's the only issue I have now that bothers me lol.
I'll report if I find anything but I'm still waiting for anyone to tell me how to do it as well.

This is the original *.wad file from the guy's website. I went to archive.org and entered the site address there, and i was able to download the *.wad file. :)

Extract/unzip the zip file on your pc and copy the extracted file (should be ~3.8 MB) to the directory on your device where the gfDoom exe is located. DON'T start the "gfDoom launcher.exe"; you must start the "gfDoom.exe" to be able to play (in my experience).

I have problems with my touch pro too- any way I try to go lanscape it still doesn't change hardware keys orentation
