I'm looking for a dual sim adapter suitable for my touch cruise.

Any ideas?.

I saw this on the net, but it looks very expensive.

Simore seems the only one working, my old adapater good for qtek 9090 worked only the first day, after it stop working (I try also a hard reset but no luck). I can switch only after a soft reset. But Simore seems to drain a bit the battery (watch here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=364884). Ciao.

Oh this would be good as I am in the US every week switching sims. I don't suppose it would let me access DATA off one sim and Phone services off the other eh?

like i asked before, will any of the sim adapters, actually keep both sims active at all times or this isnt possible ?

If not, which one of that m99 site will work for polaris?

This isn't possible. Only dual-sim phones can do that because they have two receivers integrated.
I don't know which one will work. I can only say that if you want to use UMTS you have to buy an analogue adapter. Afaik digital adapters can work with an UMTS-Sim but they can't use the UMTS features like HSDPA. So you can use the UMTS-Sim in GSM-Mode only.

Hello,

I have a Black 1 SIMORE v6.0 on my HTC cruise. It's works perfectly in edge and 3G mode.
With Radio ROM original, i have problem with 3G network, the network disconnect after 5 seconds, but after upgrade to the last ROM radio, it's OK.
There is an automatic permute function, like 10 minutes on my edge network, and 5 minutes on 3G network. Work good, it take less than 15 seconds to change , but if you are on call , it's disconnect you and change the network if the 10 or 5 minutes expires.....
But It's OK for me , i swap only to check my voicemail or sms and permute directly to my principal network.
I don't know about battery life but i have only one phone in my pocket and it's the only one solution i found for that :D

To Greg_o: can you please confirm if you can use HSDPA with the simore adapter? I am thinking to get one as well. Thanks.

HSDPA is activate in my options... I can tell you more in 4 days, my new 3G options ( TV ,visio , internet etc..) will be activate :) ... but, how i can see that HSDPA is working ? i already have the 3G on the bar level reception.

The easiest way would be to do a speedtest. I would suggest to use the test used in this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=370624&highlight=speedtest) topic so we can easily compare.

If your speed is high enough -> it could be only HSDPA.

my results without SIMORE :

I cut my SIM this week and post my result with SIMORE after ;)

I now use a Datopal 6th Generation Dualsim Cut Adapter. It's an analogue one. Things seem to work fine so far. Tried with T-Mobile and HSDPA works (speed was only 440kbit/s, but that's what I got before I used Dualsim also). To be sure I only activated the UMTS frequencies in the settings, so it should really work.
There are only some problems when it comes to show the right distributor of my simcard. I don't have problems, when I use different networks. Only when I use the same network (one sim is directly from the network distributor and one is from a reseller who uses the same network) the display didn't change the provider name. So without a third party tool I'm unable to say which card is active. I used SimDisplay to get rid of this problem, but I'm sure that there are enough alternatives. ;)
Main positive aspect of the dual sim is the low cost of 6$ per unit (including shipping). The card was directly imported from Hongkong, so delivery time was about a week (I paid with credit card).

It really depends on the network and SIM card type.
Here (france) I have an Orange and one SFR USIM cards, I can't do any 3G on it.
In fact, I can log on to the 3G network but when I try to make a call, network is downgraded to GSM.
Video-call don't work (that's the real test for 3G connectivity, calling your video answering machine).

I'm now thinking into buying an analogue dual sim adapter, to prevent any more meddling than a mere switch between the SIM card and the phone.

Anyone tried this one? Selles says it will work for cruise: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=160263857295

Same guy is selling another version, with a picture of a diamond using this dual sim adapter. (photoshop or real? don't know yet)

I've ordered one, will post my result when I recieve it. May take a week or so.

I have tried this one, which is for "all phones": http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=250267107670

didn't work good. The STK menu came up, but the phone freezes everytime I try to change number. It ask for pin, then hangs. (and my dads sony ericsson slows down when this is inserted.. is this normal?)

Hi, I would appreciate it, if you can test 3G function too. :)

(and I hope you won't forget us, when you have received your new Dual Sim...:()

I'll see what I can do about 3G, since my operator don't support it yet. But I'll post results when I get it! Got it in my calendar!

well well well, recieved my dual sim adapter I talked about before. The one which was ment to be used with touch cruise.

result: bad.

the phone turned on, it asked for pin, after entering that, it said "no sim"

tried the adapter in my fathers SE, stuck at a white screen. Maybe it is defective?

Tried my fathers dual sim again, phone freezes, but will work again after 3-4 minutes (damn long).. when I try to change number it freezes again.. then whats the use?

Too bad no one can make a cheap adapter which is working.. simore is too expensive..

I haven't heard of a working Simore yet either. ;)
The Simore can use UMTS-SIMs but only in GSM-Mode. That's what my 3$ asian import can do too.
In fact, I know that I was able to use HSDPA with my Dual-Sim, but unfortunately I got the UMTS-Bug so I can't make some further tests for now.

Btw: "No sim" could be because the sims don't get enough contact with the pins in the adapter. Maybe you need the right "pressure" to resolve this problem.

yea, tried to press it and everything..aint working

Straputsky
29-07-2008, 08:00 PM
Even now, I'm not able to find the right pressure at first time. When I had to remove it the last time I needed about 10-20 tries to find the right pressure again. Maybe there is still a small chance left, you can get this card to work... (godda damn, you see I wanna see it working :D).

P.S. Thank you for responding! Most users don't share their experiences when they got their adapter.

no problem, I hate it when people don't share their wisdom!

Guys,

I have been using the Cruise for several months now. Used Tytn II before and the analog dual sim adaptor worked on the Tytn II but dont on the cruise.

I use a 3G operator and another Edge operator.

I was always wondering why it didn't work on the polaris. This morning I tried again and ... YES it works perfectly.

It didn't work because I didn't put enough pressure between the sim card holder and the back cover! This is the tricky part. I've put another paper with the same thickness of the original sim between the sim card holder and the cover.

In order to switch the operator you have to go through "Phone on/off".
The Simtoday application doesn't work (it worked on the tytn II).
I bought my Analog dual sim adaptor at:
http://www.freeyourmobile.co.uk/ghost_dual_sim_cards.htm

This is the item:

#standard universal dual sim

I can obvisouly do Videocalls through the 3G operator.
If you guys have 2 operators supporting the 3G it might be a bit difficult to know on which operator you are because in my case , on the HTC home menu it always displays the SAME operator while on the signal icon on the top it says 3G or E (for Edge). That's how I recognize the operator used.

Even if simtoday doesn't switch sims it displays the operator & the numbers!
Note that the digital dual sim card adaptors drain the battery while the analog ones dont! So that's a good news...

Hope this helps
Enjoy it!!!
