3.02 and 3.14 UC 2.0 Compliant WM6.1 Lite ROM (04/15/08)

I'd like to thank everyone at XDA for the knowledge I gained, but especially cuboosh for testing and helping me work out bugs and kyphur who got me started on making no junk roms.

ATT connection settings are built in with proxy removed so no need to install HTC Connection Setup on 3.14 if you are a ATT customer.

3.08 still retired, 3.02 back from the grave. Don't forget to use the correct radio with these. The 1.58 and 1.64 radios work.

3.14.DK.02, (4/15/2008, minor updates to match 3.02.DK.05) USE 1.65 RADIO!

- removed wireless manager completely and added default blue comm manager in it's place (Fn+right arrow = wifi shortcut)
- removed additional stale registry entries from \SYS\Phone_Lang_0409
- removed camera.lnk, shuttersound.wav and timersound.wav (these should be a part of camera.cab, updated my camera cab files)

3.14.DK.01 first release, USE 1.65 RADIO!

- starts off where 3.02.DKv0.4r2 left off
- put symbolpad back in (on the Tilt symbolpad is Fn+OK)
- HTC Application (new in 3.14, didn't remove it cuz not sure what it does)
- HTC Settings (new in 3.14, adds timeout to bluetooth visibility)

3.02.DK.05 changes (4/14/2008, had to release another one cuz 3.14 has little quirks)

Most of the cabs were built using files and registry settings I removed from my base rom so they work 100%. The other cabs are from dutty, nadavi, chainfire and _alex_, but they are slightly modded. I either added some missing files or deleted unecessary files from them. Install cabs to Device.

MSSolitaire.cab installs solitaire and creates a game folder with the game folder icon. Made separate cab for bubble breaker because I don't like it.

Keyboard is Tilt layout. A cab to change to Kaiser layout is also attached.

it's 0.1 UC that has the camera removed. are u using 0.0? 0.2 will have office removed. the reason it's still there is because I use it often and I haven't made a cab for it yet. i'll probably do it some time today.

Yes, still using 0.0. I saw that camera was removed in 0.1, and that prompted the office question. There are office cabs floating around, even split up by app. The only one I load is word.

0.2 is up. office removed. it does look possible to install just word if someone wanted to play with it. PowerPoint Mobile seems to take up the most space (3MB for the exe alone).

Later if a newer version comes out you can just uninstall the old and install the new without reflashing. Now I know you can just install a new camera over the old, but doesn't it feel cleaner when you can remove the old one first?

touch.dll is from 3.03 wwe which is the same as 3.08 voda, don't know the version number.
ddi.dll version in my rom is 3.3.0.0 from 3.03 wwe, voda version is 3.8.0.0

my OS base is 3.08 voda, but my OEM base is 3.03 wwe. I decided to use 3.03 for the OEM because there are a few rgu's and provxml's in 3.08 that are voda specific.

haven't looked at the hk rom so I don't know. how much of a lag is there usually? I haven't noticed any problems with lag. I'll try swapping out the files to see if I notice anything. Thanks for the info.

Edit: I just checked the ddi.dll on 3.02, 3.03 and 3.08. The file sizes are exactly the same, it's just the version numbers that differ. The version numbers seems to be the same as the rom version (i.e. 3.02 rom has 3.2.0.0 ddi and 1.60 rom has 1.6.0.0 ddi). Sorry to state again if this is already common knowledge.

well i notice lag on sleuth's (not as bad) and udk's rom with text entry.. if you enter text to fast the screen takes time to catch up.. its like for every 6-7 characters you enter 1 or 2 shows up ..so if you type fast lets say you type the following sentence.. "i really love xda-developers" now as you type that at normal speed you can get to the end of developers and the "xda" part will just be appearing on the screen. do you know what i mean? im very interested in trying this rom so thats why id like to know if you notice any sort of lag what so ever. i do alot of emailing from my phone so this is important :O

I couldn't type fast enough to notice any lag. I did type random letters as fast as I could and the letters appear as I type. No trailing letters after I finish typing.

As far as screen lag, I don't notice anything like I noticed when I used the original AT&T roms. It is very responsive. I do still notice a slight lag when I touch the screen while playing video using CorePlayer Qtv version, but it's much better than before.

yeah, I've been trying to get rid of Customer Feedback for a while now. So far all I did was hide the icon since it only nags you once. I saw on the Wizard forum that I can remove ceipui.exe and modify mxip_notify.vol in the shell folder, but everytime I do my rom:

- skips the initial setup
- poutlook gets an error that is is not certified
- dialpad doesn't open

I'll take a look at the voipphone.dll. Glad it worked well for you and thanks for the feedback.

Edit: it looks like the dll that the registry is calling for is voipphonecanvas.dll. The actual file is gone. It actually doesn't even seem to exist in any of the roms I've been cooking from (1.56, 1.60, 1.61, 3.02, 3.03, 3.08). I found the stale reg entry so I'll remove it in my next release. For now all you have to do is delete "Internet Calling" from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items

Thanks for the link. While I'm not sure how Sleuth crippled SQM, I'm pretty sure mine is disabled also. For anyone interested and anyone out there that can check my work this is what I did:

- the rgu in the SQM folder had 2 entries for Enabled. the first time it is set to on (rgu line 3) and the second time it is set to off (rgu line 44). I removed the first entry and set the second entry to 0 for off. there is a note next to this value that says "Device-wide SQM enabled state".

- next I found an entry for SQM called Enable without the "d" after flashing. I'm pretty sure this is a mistake, but I could not find where the entry was. I simply removed the entry by adding a "noparm" for it in my provxml along with my other tweaks.

- finally I deleted ceipui.exe and modded the mxip_notify.vol so that my rom would never call on it. according to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=294925 by eluth, ceipui works with SQM to send data every time it connects to a network and every time data sync finishes. replacing the file with a different one didn't work as suggested. I ended up zeroing out ceipui.exex$AppRunAtNetConnectr and ceipui.exex$AppRunAfterSync. I got instructions for this from davidf at anichillus.net.

I would love it if someone could let me know if I screwed up anything or if there's anything else that needs to be done...Sleuth. :)

I've installed all the programs and games I use, set up Live. Been using my 0.3 since yesterday and so far no problems. Of course since SQM works without you knowing I guess I would never know if I really disabled it or not.

I installed 0.2 last night. No problems with the rom.

I had to give up on the UC. I set up my sdconfig.txt. It seemed to be working the progress bar was moving, and then it just hung. I assume it's one of the user interaction required cabs that's causing the problem. I add the HIDE:Enable as suggested in some other post. It didn't seem to work. It was getting late so I just finished my installs manually.

I'm sure I'll pick up 0.3 tonight. I'll give me a chance to try UC again.

jakeypoo, i re-upped my fixed 0.3. it's going to take me a little longer to figure out the IM+ thing. I loaded the stock voda rom and it doesn't work there either. I have no idea how dutty and sleuth have it working, but then again we're talking about dutty and sleuth here. My best guess is that they have some 6.0 components in their OEM folder that lets that and TCPMP work properly. Only a guess though.

Yeah, I noticed the IM+ thing. First I thought it might be because of Symbol Pad so I put it back...nothing. Then cooked a new rom with NETCF 2.0...nothing. Put a few other things back...nothing again. Finally I gave up and flashed the "official" 3.03 WWE rom and the 3.08 Voda rom. Low and behold...wait for it...nothing and nothing.

I didn't message him. Didn't want to bother him. Would love it if you messaged him for me. I PM'd him earlier about adding my 0.3 to his UC list, but I haven't received a reply yet. Must be busy moderating away. :)

It freakin works. I can't believe it. I just built a rom based on 3.02 with same tweaks/mods/liteness as my 3.08 rom and both TCPMP and IM+ work perfectly. It is CE OS 5.2.19170 (Build 19170.1.0.0) and I am uploading it now.

It is almost exactly the same. Exact same number of files, same registry tweaks. I did a folder by folder comparison between my 3.08 and 3.02 and the only differences are a few registry entries and a few differences in dll versions. The differences in registry is minimal and isn't anything really relevent so I think it's the dll's that allow TCPMP and IM+ to work.

I've even turned off the "display notification" option, but the display continues to come on. Makes things interesting when the phone is in a holster & you're driving along when the email comes in. I like to call it "phone surprise", since you never know what will be running on the phone if you don't check it immediately.

I see that you're on AT&T. Does AT&T even support video dialing? I am unable to test, but you should be able to install the Kaiser or Touch Dual dialer and it should work. Cabs are located in my first post.

Glad you like it. The cabs in my first post are just a few that I use or have used. Anyone using my rom let me know if you guys need any cabs. Right now I'm trying to "steal" Schap's battery indicator that shows the percentage. It's pretty nice. Would love it if someone could help me along.

For anyone interested, I finally found the battery indicator that Schap's uses in his rom. It seem's that they are linked to the dialer. I'd like to thanks Schap's and Bennec83 for the files and the info.

The 2 cabs attached are based off of the dll from Schap's 4.40 beta. 3GSchap'sBatteryIndicator.cab is for the battery meter only when using my default dialer. The dll in this cab is stripped down and will only work with the default Windows Mobile dialer.

HTCSchap'sKaiserDialer.cab is the default Kaiser Video Dialer with SmartDialing, new Battery Indicator and nice 3G icon. If you get any error regarding certificates install sdkcerts.cab first. Be sure to uninstall any other dialer prior to installing these cabs.

If you want a color version of the indicator all you have to do is change HKLM/Security/ResOver/Bitmaps/BatteryIconIdStart from 0x3E8 (1000) to 0x72D0 (2000) with your favorite registry editor.

well.. after trying few roms i had to come back to this one.. dk ur rom has to be my fav 6.1 rom.. and im a picky ass person lol. one thing i wish to request from you.. the standard wm6 dialer.. u stripped all the gfx from it so the crossbow color background shows.. i wish to have the grey/green button dialer back..possible for you to do?

That's not the background showing through. I made it so that it looks like the background showing through with my limited photoshop skills. There are 2 png's for the regular background and 6 gif's for the background during PIN config. I've attached the original images as well as a cab to change them back. Install cab and soft reset.

If you'd like I'd be more than happy to cook you a new rom with the original images or maybe one with no images at all so you can customize them yourself. Background is white when the attached files are totally missing. By excluding the images you can just copy the image files to your phone instead of installing with cabs all the time.

It's a Today screen item that shows the number of voicemails you have just like messaging shows the number of messages. I forgot where I got it from. Nothing great. Used it for a bit, but I don't get too many voicemails.

Edit: cuboosh, download on that site working again. Nice find! No more Samsung Time for me. I'll probably keep it around for when I need dual time zones, but this Project Ion Clock is great. Not to big, not to small and easily configurable. Thanks!

did it with sip change and tried to go to input settings and do it there in every other rom when i click use as default method it does it with a soft reset wouldnt work on here at all.

The keyboard fix is to change the layout from Tilt to Kaiser since my rom's default is AT&T Tilt layout. The cab changes just CWSLayout=1 to CWSLayout=0 in:

HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD

If the cab isn't working for you, you might try deleting CWSLayout with your favorite registry editor. You are the first to tell me the cab doesn't work so let me know if it still doesn't work after you delete the key.

Nadavi's camera cab has a few extra dll's that aren't needed and are used for other things. HtcRenderFLT2.dll and HtcSrcFlt2.dll for example, I just don't think these are part of the camera. No disrespect to Nadavi though because I use his cabs along with a few others (Schap's, Dutty, others I'm sorry I didn't mention) as templates to make mine.

Also, Nadavi's cab doesn't include ConfigureDevice.exe and my rom doesn't have the file either, but my cabs do. It needs to run once or the camera will not work. My camera cab puts a shortcut to it in startup. You can delete the shortcut after you install and soft reset.

I don't know if you can make a shortcut that runs only once, but if anyone know please let me know and I will modify my cabs.

I just posted an update to my 3.02 rom. Very minor change. I've tested it and it works great, but I don't notice any increase in speed (for obvious reasons since it's pretty much exactly the same as 0.4). The Windows folder opens a little quicker.

3.02.DKv0.4r2 changes

- used bepe's all_packages_to_one tool to consolidate all rgu's and dsm's
- 116 fewer files in \Windows directory, 1MB extra storage space than 0.4

Yeah I think I may learn how to cook roms just to fix this issue. I think when arcsoft is removed for cooking purposes it breaks something. Austinsyncs rom with little baking besides tweaks works right out of the box. threaded sms from palm gets me no sound every time i use it..and the writing is tiny. good for temporary purposes at best i think...will read whole thread see if any regedits to make changes

Thanks to my one man beta tester, cuboosh, 3.14 is coming tomorrow. I just finished cleaning and tweaking the rom incognito posted for us. Took a while filtering out all the damn AT&T crap. I'm going to release a version with and one without Microsoft Voice Command since it's included in the original rom. I tried making a cab for VC so I could make 1 rom, but it just wont install.

IM+ does not work in any rom version higher than 3.03 and this rom is no exception. I've tried 4.55 and 4.56 and the typing area is blank. I don't know how to fix this.

On another note I finally got Arcsoft MMS Composer working on AT&T. (Sirooga if you're reading this, cab is attached.) I first had 5_0_31_9 working, but found an updated version in the 3.14 rom so 5_0_31_11 is below.

The cab is GUARANTEED to work on AT&T's network with my rom. I tested by sending mms to myself, by having AT&T send me a test mms and by sending an email to mynumber@mms.att.net.

More news though. I successfully made a cab for Voice Command so everyone can just flash the no VC version. Learned that if I set dll's to self register in a cab installation is always unsuccessful. So happy cuz I don't have to keep making 2 rom versions. VC cab assigns to 40C6/PTT button.

Man was really looking forward to using this ROM but that radio is the deal breaker for me. It drains my battery pretty fast. I might play around with the .nbh file to see if can get another radio to work with this ROM.

There seem to be some sounds missing. Not a big deal, but for example when I select a file with File Explorer and select delete I think I used to hear like a "brrring". Or when I go to clock under settings after I select display the clock on... and tap OK I think I used to hear that same "brring". Flashed the original ATT rom to double check and it's the same, no sound under some events.

Can anyone confirm this?

The icons for the different tabs aren't as tall in the newer version of the Home plugin.

The Camera isn't installed by default. I use the version 5 CAB he provided & it works just fine.

well whadaya know, didn't even realize this was available. can't believe I've had this phone for almost a year and never noticed this. this is the second button in a week (found Fn+OK for symbolpad thanks to cuboosh last week). I'll work on this.

SOLVED Fn+OK for wifi is connected to HTC CommManager. My rom only has the default Wireless Manager (3 option) that is a part of WinMo. You will need to install any HTC CommManager to get this working again. OG 9 button comm manager from 3.14 rom below (this is not the grey one).

what does the band tab let you change? never used it before.

SOLVED see pic below. I found the dll that controls the "band" tab in phone settings. the version in the "official" ATT rom that I used as a base has a special version of this dll that removes "band" completely. I'll change this in my next release, but for now you can install my HTCPhoneSettings 5.52.cab and it will replace the dll with one that I got from the NoThrills version 3.14 rom.

For my last try, I had installed Stay Unlock, S2U2 v1, MortScript 4.1, Office and OneNote 6.1 and Jbed Java; and did an over-the-air sync with my work Exchange Server 2003 when the SoD started occurred repeatedly.

So I attempting to install the new Nadavi camera with the HTC fix and it won't install. Not sure if its just me or not. The camera that you ripped from 3.14 works just fine though. It supposedly has all the fixes in it also so I'm not worried, just wondering if anyone else tried this. Might be just the combination of software that I use.

Well I hate to report it but I'm getting this now also. Using PP4, Time, Phone Suite and SBSH Pocketweather. Uninstalled everything else just to test. After that I uninstalled everything, and still happening. After hard reset it doesn't happen. Individually loaded 1 program at a time to test after doing HR and it seems that any of the SPB programs caused this. Pocketweather was ok. Didn't attempt with any of my smaller programs due to the time involved with all of the HR's. Something doesn't like SPB it looks like. Will try the ROM again later but must flash for the weekend since I'm going out of town.

I was testing out all my programs and realized I install all my programs to my main memory since the Tilt has so much damn storage space. I read that if you install apps that run extensively into main memory, this solves the SoD for many. I guess then I should as if you've had this problem on other roms.

The only program I have on my microsd (Sandisk 8GB SDHC) is tomtom along with a lot of my shows to watch when I have dead time. Will keep checking.

Plays fine. Did you install something? What do your music/sound files open with?

I think you have to go to ActiveSync
File -> Connection Settings -> check "Allow wireless connection on device when connected to the desktop"

I'm using the latest version of your ROM and like others I have to say this is a pretty fast ROM. I've tried other wm6.1 based ROM and they are pretty good too but whatever you did to this one, it's very fast and seems to be stable -- haven't used a lot of software on it as yet.

One thing I do have that I haven't figured out with other wm6.1 ROM is changing the keyboard skin. In wm6.0 I can replace the msim.96.dll.0409.mui file that has a new skin, soft reset and the keyboard skin changed. With all wm6.1 ROMs this doesn't work for me and I've seen other posts/threads with the same issue and no resolution. If I cook a wm6.1 ROM and include the keyboard skin as OEM package it works fine.

Any ideas on this? It seems like wm6.1 works differently or needs something else added before it works.

Hey guys. So I've been using my phone with more programs installed than usual for the entire weekend and NO SoD. I have my ActiveSync set up with company's e-mail, Windows Live set up with my MSN account, MagiCall screening my unwanted calls. I also have installed Schap's 3G battery indicator, Arcsoft 5.0.31.11, CorePlayer 1.2.2, GoogleMaps, Camers 4.08, HTC Home (my own version), QuickGPS, HTC TaskManager 2.0, InternetSharing 6.0 ala Chainfire, Voicecommand 1.6, Resco Explorer/Registry/Radio, WMWifiRouter, Spb Pocket Plus, MortScript, Peracount, TomTom, MobiTV and several more.

I dug through all the files I removed and nothing I removed should be causing this. If possible can you guys run your phones without the sd card for a day and see if there are any changes?

Ringtones seem to work find. I run them from my sd card (\My Documents\My Ringtones), but I also tried them from main memory and I don't have any issues. Do you have any ringtones assigned to your contacts? Maybe the ringtone assigned to them is different or missing? I've linked some of the ringtones I use. Let me know how things go.

I'm using the latest version of your ROM and like others I have to say this is a pretty fast ROM. I've tried other wm6.1 based ROM and they are pretty good too but whatever you did to this one, it's very fast and seems to be stable -- haven't used a lot of software on it as yet.

One thing I do have that I haven't figured out with other wm6.1 ROM is changing the keyboard skin. In wm6.0 I can replace the msim.96.dll.0409.mui file that has a new skin, soft reset and the keyboard skin changed. With all wm6.1 ROMs this doesn't work for me and I've seen other posts/threads with the same issue and no resolution. If I cook a wm6.1 ROM and include the keyboard skin as OEM package it works fine.

Any ideas on this? It seems like wm6.1 works differently or needs something else added before it works.

Here's the base package as promised. Sorry it took so long. Had some major power and cooling issues in our server room this morning.

One thing to note is that my 3.14 Base is geared a bit towards AT&T. If you aren't an AT&T customer you can probably go ahead and remove:

mxip_cingular_ppc_cert.provxml from \OEM\OEM_Lang_0409

and replace:

OperatorPKG folder located in \OEM

You might just need sdkcerts. It is included in my base as a provxml, but not in my rom. I added it later to be included in my next release. If you don't want to re-flash, try the sdkcerts.cab attached and let me know if it works.

Thanks for posting the ROM files. I thought I had tried using the sdkcerts before installing a custom keyboard skin but it did not work. If I get around to it I'll reflash your base ROM, install sdkcerts and try to install the keyboard skin I was trying to before I found a fix.

sdkcerts is in that base. If you want to remove it and install it as a cab then you need to remove:

mxip_sdk_ppc_cert.provxml from \OEM\OEM_Lang_0409

I added it because it was so small and I needed it for a few of the programs I use.

I'm using 3.14.DK.01 and now for some reason my ringtone selection is not used. The phone configuration page show the correct selected ringtone, but the default ringer that came with the ROM is the one that actually plays.

I wound up dropping back to the 3.02 ROM for now. I was having too many issues where the phone was acting like the CPU was pegged on the 3.14 release.

Not sure why it started doing that with only the OEM software installed on it, but since I need the phone to get email on for business...

yeah, i went back to my 3.02 a few days ago. not being able to get im+ working was killing me. I quietly updated my 3.02 to 05. Just a few minor changes if you want to use it.

MMS works perfectly in the .05 version of my 3.02 rom. You shouldn't have any issues. Make sure you use the correct camera cab attached to my first post though. Sorry about all your VC problems. I haven't been able to dupe the issue.

Sorry cuboosh, never owned a treo. Even if I made one I wouldn't be able to test it. I would feel pretty crappy making a rom that bricks your treo. (screwed up my first Elf).

3.14 seems to be working really well for me. I wonder if I should flash back to 3.02. My only dislike about 3.14 is the radio and the battery drain it seems to cause.

Sorry packetmangler. I really tried to make 3.14 work for me, but damn cuboosh screwed me. Started using IM+ because of him and now it's something I always have running. Tried using OZIM for a while with 3.14, but it's just not the same. I figured if I'm going to use 3.02 again might as well make a few fixes that were bothering me.

I read through most of the thread the other day and it's a more of a "feeling" I think but they seem to find the true way of doing this. The default you have in your ROM works for me. As others pointed out this ROM is very fast and I've tried a lot of them out there. I also have this on the longest since I found XDA. :)

First off, this clean ROM is really nice. My only problem is one that surfaced early on with the 6.1 releases - TCPMP crashes on start up.

This issue seems to have been solved by Dutty in his ROMS as all of the old versions play.

It was also solved in another way by redoing 7.2 version of TCPMP.

I would rather it be fixed ala Dutty's way if possible.

Please advise as to any possibility to do this.

Which rom are you using? 3.02, 3.08 or 3.14? TCPMP does work on my 3.02.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think TCPMP works on all of dutty's roms. That program only works on his older 6.1 roms and his hybrid roms. I'd love to fix this because I think the same problem is keeping im+ from working, but I don't know exactly what is causing the issue. I don't know how much of his hybrid rom is the new 19209 and how much of it is old 19716, but he seems to have found the balance between old and new to get everything working.

Let me know if you find something though and I will apply the fix to my rom.

Yeah, UC is pretty great. So easy to use and it takes all the pain out of flashing a new rom or having to master reset. All I do is flash and set up ActiveSync to my company's exchange server and I'm up and running. Let me know if you need any help. I have a link to Slueth's UC thread in my first post also.

have another issue I ran into. When I'm using a bluetooth headset the volume on the device automatically is disable. Incoming rings can only be heard on the headset. I don't recall having this issue with earlier ROMs. Do you know if this is be design or is there a fix for this? I used to have the ability to still hear incoming rings on my device and then I can pick up either via the phone or the BT headset.

No program that would send all audio to headset. Just the base ROM as released and some additional programs. Read that BT Audiotoggle should fix this but haven't found the cab as yet. Going to look more for it and see if it helps.

Correct. I also have a Plantronics BT headset. When the BT headset is connected my first call rings on the headset and the phone (either vibe or sound). After I hang up on the call the volume icon on the device has an "X" next to it which all sounds from the device does not go through the device anymore, unless I change it. When I change it and answer another call, it goes back again. I don't recall doing this in the past with previous ROMs so not sure what's different. When I have sometime I'll flash an older ROM to see if this happens also. I will also flash your latest ROM to see if anything is different.

Searching the forums brought me to this post since I just ran into this problem. Still searching for a solution if you haven't found one yet.

EDIT: False alarm. I just disabled ClearType for landscape and that fixed it. Odd problem.

Yeah, this cleartype problem seems to exist in 3.14, 3.28, 3.51 and 3.53. Might also be why there is no typing area in IM+.
