Upgrade to WM6.1

I dont know how to tell what version I am running but I know its something in the windows mobile 6 area. How can I check then upgrade if needed my windows mobile version number?

I want to use Dutty's new ROM but I believe that I dont have the right windows mobile right now but I am not sure. I just got this phone a few days ago, so stock everything.

One last quick question will I have to update my radio, and would that effect how my wireless company treats me (Att is evil)

You don't have Windows Mobile 6.1 on your Tilt. The tilt comes stock with Windows Mobile 6.

First I would advise you before anything to read the first thread, specifically the one dealing with HardSPL. Before you flash to Dutty's ROM make sure that you have HardSPL flashed. After that you can flash to whatever ROM you want.

If you do decide to upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.1 you will need to flash to a new radio. There is also a sticky for this with download links and location. Your best friend at this time would be the Kaiser Wiki, which is also located in the first thread. I would highly advise that you take an hour and read up on how to do everything that your asking and familiarize yourself with the techniques of flashing / upgrading.

...and to answer your last question, no updating your radio would not effect your service with AT&T the evil empire :D

if you indeed have hardspl now, then pick a 6.1 rom and 6.1 radio and have fun configuring.

If you would like to try dutty's just download the ROM from the listed locations in the 1st thread. There are a couple to choose from. I would also highly advise you to read through the second post. This gives you a lot of information about configuration, best results, before and after flashing. Also gives you some detail on how to configure your device. Let me know if you have any more questions.

I downloaded the HTC Kaiser, and the HTC home plug in, but after downloading the new 6.1 I can no longer get access to the internet which is imperative. I've downloaded the HardSPL and I deleted everything else, and once again I can't get to the internet. What am I doing wrong? Please help, I'm about to go on travel and I really need the internet. If I will be forced to use this basic brick without all the luxuries, I guess I will have to, but I don't want to.

Which ROM do you currently have installed? Have you tried any of the configuration cabs. Which mobile service provider do you have?

I have the new 6.1 rom, I downloaded duttys new 6.1 release and it still did not work. I've had tons of cabs, Schen, schaps, etc... & I have at&t

After the new 6.1 nothing will work anymore, I can't even get WiFi, I even went to the extreme of returning the phone to AT&T today because I swur it was the device and not the software

Does any of your sound work? Does your camera work. The only reason I ask this is that you might have a radio problem.

If you do have sound...then try to install this cab.

yes the sound works, I just can't connect to the internet. I was able to listen to my music with and without the headphones today. Please help with the internet issue, that's all I need right now, I can worry about the sound later...

Go to start ->settings->connections->advanced->select networks

Make sure the programs are supposed to connect through media net. Once you've selected media net, hit edit, then click the proxy settings tab. Uncheck uses proxy server.

That should fix it, if there isn't even a media net option, you need a cab to fix it.

I've done all this, I've actually sat on the phone with tech support for 2 hours today resetting the internet connections, and it still did not work, hence me returning the phone for a replacement today.

Trust me you guys, I've done all the basic fixes... :(

A hard reset lets you access the internet?

(Also, settings->device information give you the rom info, too)

A HR deletes all of my add-ons *sighssssssssssssssss* which brings the phone back to day one, which gives me access to the internet because it does not have any add-ons on the phone.

If you have Dutty's WM6.1 and radio 1.27.14.09 that is why you can't access the internet. Try this radio and see if it works.

I can't access the internet without even adding Duttys 6.1 (which I removed trying to find out which program was causing the problems). The Hard SPL starts all the drama. Can I download the extra's without the Hard SPL?

If you've installed HardSPL once, you're good forever. You don't need to reinstall again. Try the 1.64.06.04 radio, though.

It really doesn't matter, the radio rom is independent of the software rom (dutty's)

I'm patient. I'm trying to help you. I was taking your comment as you were trying to hardspl everytime you flashed a rom. I was mistaken. Follow Alltheway's advice. Flash your 6.1 radio and then flash any 6.1 rom you want. That should handle your problem if I am still understanding everything right. Please don't take my comments as being impatient. That was not my intention.:)

Now i got the dreadful white screen. :eek: I did a hard reset, trying the Hard SPL again because I deleted it from the phone. Maybe I'm doing the Hard SPL incorrectly. should I flash the radio, then the hard spl then dutty's 6.1?

Still no internet! Everytime I add something to the phone, it doesn't work anymore. I've done the Hard SPL and the radio download, no internet. It works until I add these extras :confused:

The only way I can get the phone to connect and access the 3g GPRS (which btw is the only way the phone with connect to the internet) is by doing a HR. What am I doing wrong?

i think its been said a few times in this thread.........if the only thing that makes your internet work is a hard reset, then one of the things you installed is causing the internet access to "break"

try installing one by one and see which of it is the cause

I've done that, and the main items I want on the phone, (i.e. HTC home kaiser, shacps, schen, etc..) is causing the phone not to connect. So as I said in my previous post, I guess I'm stuck with this $400 factory brick.

well the obvious answer is that you definitely are doing something wrong. thousands of ppl have installed htc home without any problems. My suggestion is that you just go back to the stock at&t rom, use that, and familiarize yourself with you device first before attempting to do anything else.

I had everything working fine until I upgraded to the (wm 6.1 and dutty's 6.1), so I'm familiar with the device. but thanks for your "help". I mean i've deleted everything and added the kasier tweak , and no connection. If I delete kaiser it works again.

Give Sleuth's V3.0 a try. It works for ALL of my cabs. Home, Streaming, EVERYTHING.
