Hi,
lot of users had reported the Screen Bug:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9_1BAiU_7k
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNv8FMy_mVU
This bug will popup your starmenu when:
- you are using "huge" thumb while tapping the display (xt9 sms writing for example)
- cpu is overheating (because it's near the diplay area)
I'm working to solve this issue via software.
Project moved to my website:
http://www.xiaprojects.com/?section=All&project=WinCE%20tools&action=HTC%20Trinity%20-%20P3600%20Screen%20Bug%20Fix
Changelog:
0.0.10 Bugfix, now work on all WM6.1 themes and also new "Transparent" feature make it invisible! a good starting point to put TopBar by default in P3600 roms
thank you!

Great program.
Since i've installed it, i have not been able to provoke the star menu poping up. Usually I could provoke it by randomly tapping the today screen, but not anymore...
This has been the most annoying bugs of the telephone, and i'm very happy that it seems to be fixed...
Thank you so very very much...

ha! All this time I was wondering why my battery status kept popping up at random.. I never thought it was a screen problem. Maybe on my next disassembly I can sand down the bezel or something.

Stefano,
I am wandering if this program need to be place in the startup folder so that it will get started ? (please forgive me if you think this is a silly question).
Thanks for the great problem.

stefanux .... Thank you !!! although your intention was to let us capture the false pressure coordinate and feedback to you, somehow after running your little proggy, like the others i was not able to reproduce the start menu problem anymore. fyi, i did manage to reproduce the problem right before i start your little proggy.
will report again if the problem comes back after a soft reset :) Hopefully, this would make this most annoying problem go away.
again, thanks !

Excellent Tool! Thanks for posting it. Is there a way to prevent you from running it multiple times. Since you don't see anything on screen you are tempted to keep clicking on it - since your not sure its running. Maybe the second time you click it can popup saying its already running. But otherwise this thing rocks.

hi again, finally i manage to reproduce the start menu drop popup thingy. somehow, its harder to reproduce when your program is active.
However, manage to capture the coordinate of the fake pressure, 4 out of 4 time 0:0.
Hopefully this helps :)

omg, if this works..it will solve one of the biggest headaches (unfortunately, not all) i have with this phone!!!
Edit: Running this app and randomly touching the screen still results in the start menu popping up. I've noticed someone saying it works after a while. Does that mean this app takes some time before it can adapt to the pressures being applied at the start menu? Also, what is TopBar-diags.zip for?

Try 0.0.3 when ready, diags may help to find which coords are "fake"

I'm using the diag version. Oddly enough, even when the start menu pops up, the box where it displays the coords is still labeled with "Start!".

humm, do you mind if i have some question?
First, i tried 0.0.3 out, ok, it's very good but ...When i plug the charge into my trinity, after some gesture my pda turn to hot faster than before...(at least i feel the backside of my pda quickly turn to hot...)
And i wonder how does the battery run? Does it cost more battery than usual? I mean the battery run out faster than usual?
Sorry for my worst english but i wish someone could check this probleme for me and for all...
Thanks!

I ran your fix all day today with the cable plugged in and did not experience this problem. I think it's a different issue.

For those of you who have installed this, does the start menu still popup at all? Or does it only decrease the occurance? I actually haven't noticed any difference after running 0.0.3

In my case, since i use 0.2 version, never had popup at all, but before, it happens randomly. so finally got a solution.
Many thanks for the producer:).

Thank you seems to work well!
is it possible in future to configure the height and width of the bars? .. as some of us may only need a very very small line....
is it possible to make the black line transparent / semi transparent, ie. png file overlay?
Thanks so much!

It's hardware issue, depend on how LCD was mounted over main board, around cpu... so heating, using finger, high drops, may involve to "the bug".
My fix is a pure software "transparent" at all, so it will grab fake coords.
do some test with over heating issue if it's unstable and un-usable send back to htc... otherside if just popup only with finger on heavy use (t9) keep and do not try the "lucky wheel"

You`re first version cured my problem totally! Is it possible to add this file to startup? I`m running FInixNOver 3.1 WM6.1..

1. copy the file to PPC
2. Create a shortcut
3. copy the shortcut to main memory/windows/startup
.. oh yeah.. use file explorer for this operation ;)

This may sound a little too simple, but can the start menu icon (or area) be isolated?
In other words deactivate the start menu icon? We have other buttons to select the start menu. Just curious.

Version 10 works great. I wonder if I can remove the vertical bar; it looks un-natural hanging on top left of the screen; cut off just after the windows icon.
Many thanks; I can thumb type now :)

I just had a play and i dont think its that value in the registry?
Although if i changed the value of "Transparency" from 0 to 1 it doesnt show up and i know its actually running. Esp if you just tap today - you can see a little section cut off from the side and top.
Nice - now i can use it!

Wow - thank you , thank you, thank you.
This was definitely the most annoying bug with my phone. I can't believe HTC released a phone like this. Absolutely shocking.
PS - I tried the registry hack to make the top bar invisible and it worked here. Try to kill the process and start it again if it doesn't work for you.

from 1 to 0. Is that what you mean by disabling it? My topbar is still visible even after a sof treset. :(
