Hi all
so it is May and we have a lot of new 6.1 ROMS and igo8 final out...
[May 28]
L26 Kaiser Diamond Version 4 !!! (Core 19588) is working just by disabling the HTC home plugin.
new updated sys.txt variable list! thanx tweakradje in post #49 -50 on page 5
[May 27]
L26 Kaiser Diamond Version 3 !!! (Core 19588) is working just by disabling the HTC home plugin.

Dutty's Official WM6.1 5.2.19585 Public Beta test Release reported working just by disabling the HTC home pln.
[May 22]
NavNGo iGO8 v.8.0.0.35389 Apr. 15 2008 also works fine with Dutty's WM6.1 Hybrid v2 5.2.19716/5.2.19700. This version seems to tolerate better the phone calls and not loosing GPS after minimalisation.
L26_Kaiser_Diamond_Version_1 is reported working just by disabling the HTC home plugin.
[May 20]
i use igo8 final 8.0.0.31442 with Dutty's WM6.1 Hybrid v2 5.2.19716/5.2.19700
it work mostly fine, i have some problems that after some phone call the gps driver is lost in igo8. but if you exit igo8 and restart
it works fine and has a 3 second GPS lock. After calls wiat 3-5 seconds to let igo get back to command.
if you have the startup problem with a ROM other than this, please try to disable parts of the HTC home plugin.
there is only 3 items which causes the problem: Weather, Music, Profile
to turn them off go to Startmenu\Settings\Personal\Today\
Go to the third panel: HTC Home and uncheck Weather, Music, Profile
turn them off and make a soft reset
if you have the startup problem as time passes after soft reset there is a chance that igo dont start up again :(
you can try to turn off aGPS also in advanced config but most ROMs come with this option off
if you have sys.txt problems try to have both sys.txt to be in good shape
sys.txt locations are in importance order:
\Program Files\iGO8\sys.txt
\Storage Card\iGo8\sys.txt
List of sys.txt variables:
in post #49 -50 on page 5
for kml extension POIs form www.poiplaza.com put them in the following folder:
\Storage Card\iGo8\content\userdata\poi\
first i had problems to list this POIs correctly but it started to work, perhaps a soft reset needed?
for phone icon to be active in POI info menus use the folowing variables in sys.txt:
[interface]
poi_show_all_btn=1
[phone]
driver="TAPI"
for touch flow addicts try the following settings :)
[map]
inertia_on_map_move=1
please inform me about new tweaks for kaiser and i'll try to keep up to date this thread...

Hi all
there is only 3 items which causes the problem: Weather, Music, Profile
turn them off and make a soft reset
after boot both igo works fine with htc today plug
after a soft reset if you enable Profile igo will still run...
as time passes after soft reset there is a chance that igo dont start up again :(
to turn them off go to Startmenu\Settings\Personal\Today\
Go to the third panel: HTC Home and uncheck Weather, Music, Profile
please shefs check the problem with Weather, Music, Profile
Just an FYI...if you upgrade to the ROM Dutty released this morning then Igo will run with no problems...you don't have to disable anything...:)

After updating to Dutty's new official WM6.1 5.2.19716 UC ROM the MioMap v.3.3 works (with all HTC plugins selected)!

Unfortunatelly, I can confirm that iGo 8 Demo and iGo2006 do NOT work with latest Dutty's 6.1 ROM. Sometimes they launch, but most of the time I have to disable HTC Home and SR to make them launch.
I will try disable weather plugin and see if that helps (I don't use music and profile plugins). Could it be that it's the weather plugin specifically that does this?

Which version do you mean when you write the latest?
Cos igo should work with both of the hybrid versions.
At least with the first one (I think it was Apr. 1.) I never had a problem with igo
(Maybe you wanna try this rom?)
What I noticed with other roms: if I disabled things in HTC home, I had to start igo, minimize it, go through all the tabs that caused problems and after that I closed igo. If i didn't do that, igo would not start after pressing the problematic tabs.

Actually, its the 'Music' plugin specifically that may need to be disabled (for some). IGo8 Final works otherwise for me w/ Dutty's Apr 29 ROM... :D

Nav.N.Go.iGO.PDA.v8.0.0.31442.Final
in combination with latest DUTTY rom work excellent here.
installed whole europe (total size was 2gb) with the poi's and such...works 100% so far and i dont encounter the same problems you did.

I'm using April 29 Dutty's 6.1 ROM - and both iGo versions do not work with it. Sometimes i can get it to work right after SR, even with HTC Home enabled, but if I close iGo, I won't be able to launch it again until HTC Home is disabled and I SR.

Possibly one of two things:
1) The IGo8 Demo version doesn't work.
or
2) There's something else on the PDA that's conflicting w/ it..

1 - I've used both versions (2006 and 8) many, many times on WM6 without any problems, so it must be WM6.1
Besides, many people are having same problems with WM6.1 HTC Home and iGo, it must be something that HTC Home does with WM6.1 that causes this.

Possibly, but then KeesKaas and I are both using it with HTC Home enabled without any issues.. Maybe you could try and reflash Dutty's Apr 29 ROM and try it..

disabling assisted gps might also be a solution to starting igo8.
I use duttys news rom also. and had problems starting igo8 . so i reflashed the rom, and now igo8 was running smooth. Then I started configuring the kaiser, and noticed that after enabling assisted GPS (through advanced config), Igo8 wouldn't start again. I now disabled assisted gps, and igo8 is running good again. I have done nothing to the htc home, weather, music settings.

to disable a-gps you can use kaiertweak
as solution for your timezone problem add this to your sys.txt:
[timezone]
sync_os_timezone=0
reset_os_timezone=0

You can only flash a rom on which igo works (wm6, 19716, or dutty hybrid)

Hmmm, so I must reflash to Dutty's Hybrid? Now I have NoThrills V3. Is Dutty's Hybrid better? :)

it's not a must... but you can if you want ;-)
for me there is not much difference between these two roms (but i don't use many applications), so i decided to use the one where igo runs.

Just one question... which version should I use? Cube, Non-Cube, Lite? And which radio version? 1.65.14.06 or 1.64.08.21?
thanks :)

1.64.08.21 radio.

With wm6.1 dutty's rom (03/06/08) and 1.64.08.21:
- I need to softreset to launch IGO8 (final) after connect the phone on my PC (an active sync problem...)
- Can't launch it anymore with HTC TaskManager 2.1.33556_1 (BIG Buttons) installed
Anyway, tomtom is dead...

Thank you for the information (post #1)
One question: did anyone notice, that the position igo show's is behind your actual position at speeds >20mph/30kmh
It is very obvious at crossroads or speedcams.
Has anyone a solution for this?

When I first installed igo8 final it didnt run until I delete all the files in the folder save and then it started rite away. I'm using dutty's rom april 29 without cube and igo8 is working very well, I didnt disable any home plugin but had agps disable. Everything else is working good too like poi calling, TTS working, I do see building but hoping for more.

I did notice that igo puts your position a little back. I think this was to stop the jerking and it lets you see the road coming up before you need to turn.
Next, about receiving phone calls when using it. I usually let them come through, and it is slow to get back to normal. Sometimes if I don't want calls I just use ilock2 to close S2U2. Since I have S2U2 working as my fullscreen caller id, closing it stops a call from screwing up igo.
S2U2 works for me since I use a seidio rubberized case with the screen exposed.

This is my first attempt at using iGO (v8 final) and it appears to be working without a hitch on Dutty's April 29th ROM.
I can't get it to recognize any of my US maps though. I'm in NY, so I put the NY map (v 2007.07_070813) in Storage Card/iGO8/Content/map; as well as the NY poi file in the poi folder, the NY building file in the building folder, and the US dem file in the dem folder.
When I go to settings-->about, I only see the basemap. The terrain file may be working because I see some terrain in NY when I zoom out, but I'm not sure if that's part of the base map or not. Any suggestions?

I read somewhere, that problem is in SIRF/NMEA protocol in GPS. But I did not have time to try something.

Interesting...posted thiss ame question on PPCGeeks yesterday and someone said the US maps don't work because they're still beta versions.
What map and iGO versions are you using?
I live in central NY, but I zoomed in on NYC and didn't see any maps or buildings there either (not really expecting to see any buildings here in Syracuse). Going to NYC tomorrow though so I'd like to get this working by then to check this out.

Using 8.0.0.31442 in Romania. It's alot easier to use compared to iGo 2006 Plus.
As for the buildings availability, check the iGo8\content\building folder, that's where 3d info is stored. You should see .3dl and .3dc files. .3dl are 3d terrain info files and .3dc are 3d buildings info files. As far as I know iGo uses one map per US state so if you find a yourstate.3dc file there are some 3d buildings.

Thanks so much. The outdated map was indeed my problem. I tried the .07_071010 map of NY like you stated and everything's working perfectly now on iGO8 v.8.0.0.35389. I've got terrain and I can zoom in and see buildings in NYC.
Contrary to what I'd heard before, the 071010 US maps do indeed work in iGO8 final even though they're apparently beta maps.

After trying many roms and having no joy what so ever in getting igo8 working, found a post on TMC Support ETEN users forum:
QUOTE(tts @ May 13 2008, 10:07 AM) *
The problem is the SDHC driver, the IGO8.exe executable doesn't like it. So if you remove it, then it works. Sadly you cannot use SDHC cards then, until someone releases a patched IGO8.exe
tested there patched files and now igo8 is fully working. I will not post the patched files as im unsure of the legality of them.
Google is your friend using igo8 wm6.1 post 5 is of most interest. :D

I'm running the latest official HTC WWE 6.1 ROM. Just as everyone else iGo8 wasn't running. It appears that it was indeed the HTC Home music tab that was causing this. Once this tab was disabled everything else is fine. But I could really do with theis tab as you use my Kaiser a lot for playing MP3s :-(

disabling assisted gps might also be a solution to starting igo8.
Thank you :-)
I had a hanging Kaiser until I came across your suggested solution, which did the trick. Many thanks.

I don't know if anybody noticed, that igo shows your position much behind your actual postion. You can see this when crossing streets - when you passed crossroads, igo still has a second or more to get there. Very annoying when you miss a turn because of that.
If anybody has this problem and is willing to try a few things out, you can try to change:
\hklm\system\currentcontrolset\gps intermediate driver\drivers\gpsonedevice\pollinterval (in the registry) from 500 to 50.
Maybe it is pure imagination, but i believe it's much better.
So if anybody is willing to try it out, please post your results here (just out of curiosity)

I'm using the new L26 Kaiser Diamond Version 4 ROM, and if I start the iGO8, it freeze when it start up.
My HTC Home Plugin is diabled, and I tried to modify the sys.txt, but didn't solve my problem.
Can somebody help me?

Noticed that.
I got one "problem" I didn't get with 2006.
Igo2008 shows me 50m behind my current real position.
I noticed that the faster I drive, worst is the difference
Is there anything in sys.txt to correct that ?
I tried your tips. But doesn't change.

I think this bug is real freak.

Yes. I can confirm this also makes the MioMap v3.3 run!
How did you get Miomap 3.3 to work on WM6.1?
Which rom do you use.

I am running Dutty's 29th and all (maps, terrain, buildings, & TTS) works as it should.
The issue I have is when I have POI's I got from www.poiplaza.com in the \Storage Card\iGo8\content\userdata\poi\ dir and install IGO it runs VERY SLOW.
Too slow to use. I remove the .kml(s) and reinstall and all is good. I would like to utilize the POI's
Any ideas to resolve the above issue?

Can anyone confirm having the same problem as i do.
I'm unable to go to standby mode from igo. I have tried most versions and many different roms, all of them behaving the same. I simply cant go into standby other than exiting the app. That is quite anoying if i'm on route and make a tankstop, for instance, and want to take my phone with me and stick it in my pocket.
When i push the off button the screen just starts to switch on and off.
When i minimize the app, i alo cant go into standby.
Im running official dutch 6.1 rom now and the latest igo from june 24. I've had contact with support but to my suprise they told me they werent able to reproduce the problem!
They advised me to disable htc home plug, which is a known issue but not whats causing mine. Didnt help. There's also a wake up fix circulating that fixes yet another problem (device crashes on wake up in igo) which also doesnt fix it (since i cant go into sleep mode at all!)
I'd really like to have this solved, but it looks like im the only one?
Thanks in advance.
