installation instructions for manila theme:

1. install batterystatus and put htc clear folder and htc clear xml file in your batterystatus folder and set it as your theme.

2. install rltoday and put the manila folder in your rltoday folder and set it as your theme as well.

3. put the rltoday plugin in your ultimate launch tab and enable only ultimate launch and batterystatus in your settings/today/items screen.

4. install mortscript to make the appointment notifications work.
enjoy.

Aurora Theme V2.0
----------------------------

NOTE V2.0 is just a folder of replacement files for v1.0, you need to download 1.0 and replace with the files with 2.0

- New skin for LG keys on the bottom, the overlapping button problem was fixed by making seperate rows (credit to xda-member scicarb for the nice changes)
- New analog clock on home screen with ticking second hand
- cleaned up some graphics

Installation instructions for aurora theme:

1. install BatteryStatusExt.1.04.UPXed.build_0270.CAB and put the htc home.xml and the htchomeskin folder in your batterystatus folder in the windows directory. select htc home as your theme and untick every row except for the "messages" row

2. install rltoday.cab and put the s2u2 folder in your program files/rltoday folder and replace the rltoday.ini with the one i provided.

3. place all 3 htc home files in your windows directory to overwrite the old ones

4. install testtodayplugin.cab (photo speed dial)

5. put dcinobar.exe in your windows directory and make a shortcut for it in your \windows\startup folder

6. put the aurora.jpg on your device set it as your today background.

7. finally, install ultimate launch via the setup.exe and replace the ultimatelaunch.ini with mine.

it involves editing the .png file named HH_FW_framefill.png I will release it when I release this theme if you can't get it to work.

Is there a quick contacts launch frame?? That's something missing in ultimate launcher, and I keep HTChome for this reason.

It's a great theme - there r lots of qq a/t it... yet it's rather hard 2 say anything without testing it first:) From the side look it seems that HTCHome Plugin is involved (I mean the clock & the weather aspect) yet I can say very little a/t the gadgets without using them first.

for the soft keys i use a program called dcinobar.exe and for the tray icons you have to delete the corresponding programs in your windows\startup folder.

Looks like im gonna have to do a step by step on how to do this since there are so many programs involved. I will update the first post as soon as i can.

Great looking theme etc....... I guess step by step is needed by many but If you could zip the files up by app .... I'm pretty sure many could work it out accepting that some of the progs are time consuming to config UL and Rtoday spring to mind

First of all, great work., ,,,,, I did everything the way it is instructed but i dont get the result as shown in your first post. I had battery status built into Dutty's 6.1 ROM already and I installed the battery status given by you. Could that be a cause of the problem?

spencepu3 did all of us a huge favor by putting all the items & directions needed to get this skin running in an easy/neat little package. But remember that he made this skin using apps such as RLToday, Ultimate Launcher & Battery Status and each of those apps have may options to each of them. It would be best for everyone if you search for the app that you having problems with and figure out how to make any changes \ edits. Instead of beating on spencepu3 with questions that can\have been answered in many other threads. I'm sure spencepu3 will help out but something things are best learned rather than just handed out.

You should be able to change the plugin for the Weather tab in the settings for UL. Make sure Weatherpanel is not running and it will show up in the list of available plugins in UL.

You are the best.... it looks good on this site, but I can't put it like yours on my phone. I only have the clock only and a very small battery under.

Questions: what do we need to have installed before using your instructions??
HTC Home??? Some of the steps are not matching what you wrote.
Step 1: "Select HTC home as your theme".... There is no HTC home on the theme screen.
Step 3: "Place all 3 htc home files"... there is only 2 files...and to overwrite the old ones??? there aren't any....

So after all these issues, I think there is something missing, like having HTC Home previously installed maybe!!!

Really great stuff. I took some time to get it right. But it really worth. Than you very much.
@others who did not get it right
1. Make sure you have selected only message for battery status. Don't do the otherway around. :) I did that too.
2. Arrange the today plugins.
3. Keep only Weather in HTC Home.
4. Make sure you dont have comm manager and power sowing up at the bottom.
5. Learn to use the ultimate launcher. This is one of the best today launcher ever made IMHO
6. Install pocketCM and put the link in widows folder. Then go to \windows\batterystatus and open htchome.xml find pocketcm.exe and make it pocketcm.lnk

If I have s2u2 installed, should I delete it? Should I diable HTC Home?

And for the third HTC Home file, does it have to be hidden?

any chance you can repost the htc home files? i still cannot view it. If i extract it to my desktop, the 3rd file is not there. I cannot check to see if its read only. also I can view the other two files in resco explorer. but the 3rd cannot be view nor extracted anywhere.

dont use htc home for photo speed dial, if you install testtodayplugin.cab that i provided you will have a photo speed dial, look at the one in my 2nd picture in the first post

you have to press and hold on one of the batterystatus icons on the bottom until the little box pops up, then go to the show rows tab and make sure only messages is ticked.

it is not a theme for your pocket pc device in the settings - today tab. when you but the htchome.xml and htchomeskin folder in the batterystatus folder, open up the batterystatus program from your programs folder and then go to the advanced tab to select your skin file there.

If you change your folder options (Tools -> Folder Options) and select the option to show hidden files and folders the file will appear. Its set to hidden and as standard windows doesnt show hidden filed.

sounds good! there are many ways to change the taskbar color, it can be done via the registry, i use sktools, but there are many programs that can do it. search "change task bar color pocket pc" in google and see what comes up

Thanks again spencepu3 for all your help but im still having problems copying the home files to the windows directory, I've tried using my pc using explorer and copying the over on the device but I get 'need permission' error everytime. I've tried stopping home, ultimate launch etc but no joy.... Any help guys?

are you sure you took ultimatelaunch off the today screen when you tried it? Try using total commander for the ppc to move the files

Also, every now and then a "Not Activated" message will pop-up on my "Home" screen option after I unlock my phone from s2u2?

open the htc home.xml file in your batterystatus folder and edit the link for that button. its in the row called messages and I believe its the last string at the bottom

For the LG button there is a problem in the XML because if you click between the black one it disapperead and than you can click on the blank one and a new one appeared ! (MMS button).

I don't know if it's what you want but it can cause troubles ;)

for blue taskbar go to the tune up section and for softkeys and taskbars make the value 400

I'm playing with this theme since couple of hours and somehow I can't menage to open Pocket CM from BS(error message about trusted certificate...) also when I try to open app. from one of those BS buttons all four of them get highlighted. First two from the left keep opening phone app.
Is there any option to assign different app. to those buttons? For example I would like email button to open hotmail.

Any idea to the questions I posted for you? For example, the 4 "not activated" messages that appear on the screen after a period of time. That will only go away when I "reload ini"? How can I make this permanently go away

2 things you can try:

1) Change the .tsk that you are currently using to the darkest one in your list. Then hit OK. check the desktop to see if the .tsk that you just choose look fine (not milky). Then go back to the Today settings and choose the aurora background from that page. { I am not sure why this works but this is what fixed the "milky background and milky start menu" for me }.


2) If you are choosing the Image using "File Explorer" make sure that the Opacity Setting is set to "0". This setting is the cause of milky backgrounds a lot of the time.

I'm playing with this theme since couple of hours and somehow I can't menage to open Pocket CM from BS(error message about trusted certificate...) also when I try to open app. from one of those BS buttons all four of them get highlighted. First two from the left keep opening phone app.
Is there any option to assign different app. to those buttons? For example I would like email button to open hotmail.

If you installed PocketCM to its default location (on the device) then the string in htchome.xml should be (this will clear up the security warning):

You can change the .xml to open just about any app.
For Example:
I use my ATT email account instead of the default "Outlook". So I changed my string to the following (at about line 117):
<Item class="registry_tracker" ontap="StartApp" path="\Windows\tmail.exe ::-service &quot;att.net&quot; open &quot;inbox&quot;">

So you could use the same for your Hotmail, just change where i have att.net to whatever you named the Hotmail account when you created it and it should open up your inbox.


For the larger buttons on the bottom of the screen, all you have to change is the path in the .xml.
For example:
Original .xml says on line 126:
<Item class="space" ontap="StartApp" path="\Windows\fexplore.exe">

I changed it so that it open TotalCommander instead of the default File Explorer:

The same happens to me. It seems that BS is seeing all 4 buttons as 1 section so the whole section highlights. This does not affect the individual buttons. So even tho you clicked on the 3rd button and all of them highlight only the 3rd button will open.
You might want to check out the BS web site or thread to see if there is a fix....come to think of it maybe separating each item in the .xml into its own section might do it (just speculation tho because I don't have the time to test it out right now).

I changed the LG icons to be transparent and swapped out a calendar for the home icon. The transparency should match the BatteryStatus icons. Here is a screen shot and a zip with the BatteryStatus theme.

I also fixed the batterystatus theme file, you will need to select the Messages and Buttons rows.

Three things though.

1. It appears that the xml file has the voicemail and sms .png file references switched so that unread texts show up on the voicemail button and vice versa. Easy fix but just FYI.

2. On my Palm Treo 700wx the dcinobar prog doesn't seem to work. I run it and it changes my bottom to now show the bar that shows during a phone call. Answer on the left and Ignore on the right. Any ideas?

3. Finally, anyone know how to edit the .xml so that if I click on the BS clock it opens my alarm settings instead of switching from seconds to no seconds? And how to make clicking on the voicemail button dial voicemail?

if you go to my "iStyle theme" it uses the a similar xml with the instructions on how to fix the voicemail... just scroll down to the step that says batterystatus theme and follow from there... hope that helps

also... as far as the clock goes... it should pull up the standard windows alarm settings if you hold the clock when its displaying the date.

I have a problem since installing UL on my Sprint Touch. Before install I could use my thumb to scroll but now it is so sensitive that if I use my thumb it highlights the text - lets say in an email for example - instead of moving the direction of my thumb.

Yes - UL changed the scrolling on my actual device. I am using the touchflo that came with the Sprint Touch and not ftouchflo.

It would appear that even after uninstall it has maintained those settings. Not sure if there is a sensativity setting involved but I will search some more.

OK I tried to install this theme and installed batteryStatusext cab. I opened the settings to look at it and it froze my phone. So I softreset and it is still frozen. Is there a way to get it back with out a hardreset?

ok Did a hard reset anyway, reinstalled the batterystatusext and it showed a battery icon on the today screen, went to programs and ran setup...locked it up again requiring another hard reset. Anyone else have this issue?

For all those using a Vogue and installing UL, check this value. The original value is set at 4767. I found that 6500 works well for me!

Hey this skin is awesome ive been using it but im noticing that even when im doing absolutely nothing the CPU usage on my wizard would be around 40-45% now i thought i mught have a corrupted rom so i reflashed and installed it all over again but still it was showing 40-45% usage . So next i tried disabling the plugins one by one and noticed its only when im running the RLtoday ( that clock with date on top) that the cpu usage goes up so high other wise its less than 7%.

All im trying to say is that though this looks awesome it is a battery killer BUT if someone can figure out some other program to use for time and date then it would be a perfect 10.

EDIT : I just tried this program AlDate and with a little tweaking i was able to get it to look ALMOST like the old clock ( its not as cool as the RLtoday clock)
As for the hieght settings i used ( these are from the options of the AlDate pluging)

Module height : 77
Height of date : 10
Height of Time :45

And also i edited the Fixed plugin height ( located on the Display tab) to 136

all of tht was to get it to fit on the screen without showing the scroll bars i got these settings by trial and error so give it a try yourself to fix it to ur specifications

really? what are you using to show cpu usage, I'm using sktools and it is never that high. I'm looking for a customizable today screen plugin as a replacement but I havent found one yet.

Are you using a touch with stock touchflo? The difference is that when you apply pressure with your thumb to move a page up and down, instead of highlighting and opening the selected item, you can actually scroll the page.

Much smoother animation IMHO.

Here is the cab:

Will work with the stock touch dialer! Install to device - If you don't like, just uninstall and it will go back to original. This only changes the images - there are no dll files involved so pretty easy!

The milky background comes maybe from transparency (i had it).

When you select an image for today background you can choose what kind of transparency you want ...

i don't remember where i changed that but i had also the problem !

When you put an image for background, it becomes milky if you do it from settings>today>Appereance (i have in spanish so it may be different)

When you put an image for background, it becomes milky if you do it from settings>today>Appereance (i have in spanish so it may be different)

THANKYOU!!! :) Exactly right, for anyone experiencing the problem of a washed out or milky background, just open op the background in your file explorer, this will open it up in "Pictures & Video" viewer and then Menu -> Set as today background. It then asks you what percentage of transparency and you set to zero. SCHMICK!

Beautiful!!! It's nothing to do with setting about colorizing background in the display tab of ultimate launcher if anyone is getting lost in that.

Now I just need to get my digital clock up the top (reorganize rows) and I'm sorted

The way to fix the bottom row from disappearing:

Hold down the missed call button until the options menu appears - got to show rows - make sure messages and buttons are selected - click on "Lock Rows" and now they will be locked into place.

The email problem is different. You need to edit the xml file for battery status. There is a line where the button press is equal to the inbox of choice. I can't remember the exact location but I think to get to the chooser, you need to select windows/tmail.exe to get there. Sorry I couldn't be of more help on this.

Can that be fixed or adjusted to fit in the center like in protrait mode to look good

Installation instructions:

1. install BatteryStatusExt.1.04.UPXed.build_0270.CAB and put the htc home.xml and the htchomeskin folder in your batterystatus folder in the windows directory. select htc home as your theme and untick every row except for the "messages" row

2. install rltoday.cab and put the s2u2 folder in your program files/rltoday folder and replace the rltoday.ini with the one i provided.

3. place all 3 htc home files in your windows directory to overwrite the old ones

4. install testtodayplugin.cab (photo speed dial)

5. put dcinobar.exe in your windows directory and make a shortcut for it in your \windows\startup folder

6. put the aurora.jpg on your device set it as your today background.

7. finally, install ultimate launch via the setup.exe and replace the ultimatelaunch.ini with mine.

I have made the necessary changes to the xml file to display account chooser in messaging. It should display all your current email accounts and then you can pick from there.

try using total commander to copy the files, make sure tht ultimatelaunch and htc home are not activated on your home screen when you do this

I have everything working great so far on this marvelous app. I would like to know if there is a way to get 2 rows of speed dial contacts. I had 2 entries below the first row for voicemail, and 411, but nuked those. I can get two identical rows of contacts, but not separate ones. Any help would be appreciated.

There is one icon that I can't get rid of. I don't even know what it is for! It does nothing when I press on it.

Have a look at the attached screenshot. As you can see it is interfering with the battery status plugin and preventing me from using the whole screen.

Any pointers?

try double tapping it or a tap/hold for a couple seconds. If that doesnt work then check your windows/startup folder and delete any program that you dont want running at startup, that program is problem one of them

yea its one of those, you probably have zoomsms installed. Thats what the icon in the system tray is from, and also phoneservice.lnk is for zoomsms. Try looking in the zoomsms settings to see if you can disable the system tray shortcut. lemme know if that helps

Yes, it was ZoomSMS. I removed it (couldn't figure out how to get to the setting) and the icon has gone. Lovely!

i linked that button to windows/pocketcm.exe, if pocketcm is not in your windows folder then it won't work, to solve this you can either move it there or edit the .xml skin file to wherever your pocketcm.exe is located

Really great stuff. I took some time to get it right. But it really worth. Than you very much.
@others who did not get it right
1. Make sure you have selected only message for battery status. Don't do the otherway around. :) I did that too.
2. Arrange the today plugins.
3. Keep only Weather in HTC Home.
4. Make sure you dont have comm manager and power sowing up at the bottom.
5. Learn to use the ultimate launcher. This is one of the best today launcher ever made IMHO
6. Install pocketCM and put the link in widows folder. Then go to \windows\batterystatus and open htchome.xml find pocketcm.exe and make it pocketcm.lnk

yea sorry about that, I didnt bother to change them in version 2.0, just go to your batterystatus folder and open the htc_clear.xml and edit the link for the button called "apps" you should see that right now it points to windows/fexplore.exe. just change that to whatever program you want it to launch.

ALSO: version 3.0 should be out by the end of the week if anybody is interested. Look in the first post for screenshots. Sorry about the wait but my wizard bit the dust and I have a brand new elfin on the way
