On the ROM that's going to be posted, did you set the pagefile size to 4mb again? I guess it's not a big deal since I can change it to what I want. Just curious as to what you found to be optimal?
EDIT: Nevermind. I see you set it to 5.23MB.

According to DCD instructions, we run the BuildNB.bat file.. It should work once we get the ROMs added. We will have to be patient and wait for DCD to upload them. :)

Looks like mine fails to run BuildOS.exe. The BuildNB.bat is calling BuildOS.exe, but it craps out. If i try to run BuildOS.exe manually it gives the error
"This App has failed to start b/c the app config is incorrect. Reinstalling the app may fix this problem."
Do we need a certain version of the .net framework for this to work properly?

Bickity Bam yo. Also, might want to link to the general page for the Visual C++ redist. so that johnny badass computer user like me who runs an x64 machine can use this too. I'm currently on my laptop which uses XP x86, but my Vista x64 machine will probably need the correct build of this. I have never bothered to even try to cook/flash a rom from Vista, and im not ballsy enough to try right now :) Going to add some OEM's and get this thing on there. Next step, figure out how to get this Vista look crap working in place of the stock stuff. If anyone wants to help, that would be awesome. I'm sure dcd doesn't want to as he's probably sick of dealing with this and is having a beer or three now.

I'm kinda new to ROM cooking. Do I just delete the OEMs for the other carriers that I don't need? As I understand it, after making any change to ROM, I must run G'Reloc, right? Do I just leave the default values for slot 0, slot 1, size, and unknown? That is what I gather by searching. Thanks for the help.

You obviously know what a ROM is since you download and install them already.
A kitchen is a ROM creation utility that lets you "cook" (make) your own ROMs. You choose packages (also called OEMs) to be included or not in the ROM. On an advanced level you can also convert CABs to OEMs. There are programs to do this automatically, but the process doesn't always produce a fully functional OEM and manual modifications are often needed.
If you enjoy custom ROMs, kitchens are the next step. I'd encourage you to download the kitchen here and start playing around with it.
I just started playing with it today, but I'm already "OEMizing" all my apps. It takes experimentation and will sometimes involve frustration. But when you have it right it's very rewarding.

This ROM is amazing. Great memory so far and very fast! The best my mogul has ever been! I like the aGPS as well! I am sitting in my dorm room where of course I cannot get a GPS signal, and I'll pick up a few sats by the window but still no fix. I have tried several times before. I decided to see if I could now with aGPS enabled but still no signal. I walked over to the window and had a fix in about 5 seconds with 10 satellites! No exaggeration! I also tested to see how it would react to a call. I dialed my voicemail. GPStest showed that I was losing a few satellites, but I still had a fix. The GPS was still functioning while the call was on. As soon as I hung up it jumped back up to 10 satellites. Awesome. Thanks to all who contributed!

Not to change the topic but I am only aware of one of no2chems led killer's which is the rilphone.dll. Am I wrong in this?

yes there is only one. rilphone. stroths cabed it up so others could install it as well if it wasnt in a rom. no2chems also put it in his 5049 rom. haven't tried it though.
Actually there is a second. The new LED intermediate driver. rilphone.dll is a replacement phone driver that does not send LED blink events. The LED intermediate driver is a new tool from no2chem that works by letting you choose what LED events to allow. It gives you the capability to completely customize the LEDs (ie make the blue one blink instead of green, or just disable ect).

OK so im not losing my mind............ The rilphone.dll is awesome as it doesnt run in the background eating up memory even if it is minimal to nothing
Back on topic..
I am getting 20mb free after reset even with all my programs running on startup I think we got a real winner in this one.
Edit just saw Jkings post was not aware of that one I stand corrected.

All you have to do it run BuildNB.bat. It will pop up a window (buildos) that allows you to choose some prepackaged customizations (OEMs). After choosing what you want click the run button then when it is done close that window. Then the process will continue bu itself and when it is finished it will popup the RUU ready to flash. Extremely easy. And when you have more time you can experiment with adding your own OEMs. Try it now! It is seriously easy. I almost don't see a point in releasing carrier specific ROMs. This is so much better because it gives you easy customization options.
sorry just to be clear b/c i have never done anythingon vista...i can do this on vista? and i have to download the visual c++ thingie for vista and xp? thanks...I have successfully flashed ROMs with Vista in the past, but I also did get stuck in bootloader after flashing with Vista once. After that I decided to just boot into XP to do my ROM upgrades. Now I am using Vista SP1 (RTM version, not RC). I have flashed several ROMs using Vista SP1 and have not had any problems. With pre-SP1 Vista YMMV.

Any one know of a way to extract my ROM (dcd 2.2.0) so I can use it to work on this kitchen?

You were really able to get the filesys.exe smaller! Great Job DCD! I'm assuming you were able to get the drivers to stop being loaded into high memory? It appears you ported over the initvmmap.exe.

for all those asking questions.... just download the two pices in the 1st post. then extract the kitchen. then in the kitchen run the BuildNB. once you do that you will have all the choices for carrier and what not. i dont know how to add apps that aren't allready inthere yet, but i will figure it out tomorrow.
this will then produce a rom in the ruu. the ruu started automaticly for me and then i install the device.

It's a great app if you like to experiment like I do. This app has saved me so much time! It just saves a backup on your sd card in the form of a .exe file. If you do a hard reset, just run the exe and it will restore it to that backup. You can try it for free, but I think it was worth the price. Their might be a freeware version that does the same thing, but I am not really sure. Chad

DCD, Your work and the work of others who have helped is very much appreciated! I could not be happier having the GPS enabled! I'm on Verizon and have been running 2.2 for a couple of weeks with minor to no issues. The only issue I have with my device is Good Mobile Messaging and how much memory it uses:( I have to kill it or reboot often to use navigation programs.
I downloaded the kitchen tonight and ran it and am looking at the items in the BuildOS. Is there a description available of the items in the list? In particular, I wanted to know what the following were?
Enterprise
SqlCeMobile
The difference between the two Arcsoft MMS versions
CommManager 10 button vs Stock
Difference between dialers
HTC Smart Dialing
Lockstream DRM
If the Voicemail Today plugin will work with VZW?
Do I have to wait for the ROMs or does the kitchen build the new 2.3 version? This is my first time to use a kitchen? TIA

So, assuming I do what's posted above and cancel the update but keep the .nbh, can I replace that .nbh with the one from No2Chem?
I'm confused as to whether the .nbh actually is the operating sytsem with hacks preinstalled (which would differ from dcd and No2Chem) or if it's simply the software we choose to install and the hacks, basekit, etc... could still differ.

Hey dcd, I just went out to my car and got my BT ear piece. I wanted to see if BT worked on my Mogul after loading up a ROM from your kitchen. My BT works fine. I am using a Motorola H700, and it discovered the device no problem.
When I built the ROM last night, I actually had to do it a second time. I noticed in the buildNB window that there was an error saying that it couldn't find some files in the TEMP directory. I can't recall what files, but I ran it a second time, and everything ran without seeing an error. With the BT problem, I wonder if a file error occurred but the ROM still built.
And just so you know, I didn't change anything under "System Components", Sprint is my carrier, I added the nueAudio and nueLED OEMs, and activated Adobe, X-Button, Zip, and Java. I did not uncheck any of the default OEMs. I have a little over 24Mb after boot too!
Love the kitchen and the ROM! Thanks to you and everyone else, and GO WINGS!

You need an OEM version of the program you want to include in the ROM. Place the OEM into the OEM folder of the kitchen. You should then see it appear in the list in the BuildOS window when you run the kitchen.

1) I searched this thread for "audio" "head" (for headphon) and "adapter" Didnt
find any posts to see if this rom fixes the Adapter sound out problem.
2) Does anyone think this problem will ever be fixed, or is it too much of a rollback? Should I just go out and buy a different adapter?
I dont mind waiting, and these roms are GREAT, but if its never going to be fixed then ill just get another adapter.

Hmm for some reason my HTC Home oem from Alex's DCD package isn't working. Need to find an alternative. I'm such an HTCHome whore.
I'm confused as to whether the .nbh actually is the operating sytsem with hacks preinstalled (which would differ from dcd and No2Chem) or if it's simply the software we choose to install and the hacks, basekit, etc... could still differ.
The .nbh is the rom. It's the complete image of everything that'll be sent to the phone, which includes each of the components you listed plus everything else.
can I replace that .nbh with the one from No2Chem?
By replacing the .nbh the kitchen creates with No2Chem's .nbh, you wouldn't be using dcd's rom at all anymore. The only part of dcd's kitchen you'd really be using is the utility that sends the rom to the phone. That can be run independently from anything else by running \RUU\ROMUpdateUtility.exe .

Quick question about TomTom. I went ahead and checked it in BuildOS. I understand there are no maps included with this, but where/how should I go about installing the maps that have acquired? I used Garmin Mobile XT with my old 2.2.3 rom, and it worked like a champ. I just figured i'd give TomTom a shot and if i didn't like it go back to Garmin. If you would like me to get this out of the kitchen thread and make a new one just say the word.

Mine just won't turn on when i click BT in CommManager. The spinning umbrella thing (lol) comes up and BT goes back to being grey. I'm going to remove my OEM's and enable them one-by-one to find the culprit. Be back with updates in a bit. I'm suspecting an OEM, b/c i had it working in 2.3.0 and then i think i added one that killed it. Something tells me it's my dumbass that thought it'd be better to use the 8button CommManager from one of the oem packs instead of your 10 button. trying all of the same OEM's except using your 10butt.

I had this same issue last night. It's because buildos.exe is throwing and unhandled exception looking for the SYS directory under the TOOLS folder. Obviously this doesn't exist. Don't run BuildOS.exe directly.. run the batch file at the root buildnb.bat or whatever it was called and allow it to call buildos.exe for you. Then it can find the sys folder in ./ correctly and not throw a run time exception. DCD setup the batchfile the way he did for a reason.

make sure it actually works without your oems before you spend all the time troubleshooting. if it is messing up on some builds and not on others it leads me to believe greloc is not working correctly.

It'll restart on its own, just sitting on the table atleast once every 30 seconds. It doesn't seem like it resets as much while it is connected to my computer, but it still does randomly reset. guys. no2chems bluetooth drivers are in 2.3.1. youre telling me that you fixed a problem by replacing files with identical versions?
upon screwing this up i've realized that apparently something stays resident in memory and screws up if you flash a bunch of times. It just happened again. I rebooted, kept the identical BuildOS options, and then all is well. Maybe it's just me, but it's worth a shot before going and replacing drivers and whatnot.

is the gps supposed to work better with this rom? anything else supposed to be better, aside from the larger amount of memory?
GPS is same till we get better radio! maybe..more stable then previous roms!

did you install the 2008 C+++ update that is in teh first post? You will have to find the Vista version of that.
Still no good, even after rebooting. Any other ideas?

so what does it mean in the changelog on the first page? "- 02-13-08 enabled aGPS" i thought aGPS uses towers to get a gps fix quicker? any software to speed this up. i love it, but sometimes i need to wait a few minutes for it to pick up sattelites, would love to speed this up without draining the battery having it on all day.

My Data speeds have died with this release. On 2.0.0 I was getting 1200-1500 and 400-500 upload. Once I upgraded to 2.3.1 I am now only getting about 300-600 down and 200-300 up. Has anyone had this problem? Still on the 3.27 radio and GPS is working fine.

I just updated the PRL to the latest version. Did I have to do that? Does the phone keep the PRL on the phone after a rom update? I wasn't sure so I just updated it.

dcd put 3 prl's in the rom. 10, 11 and some 607xx.
you will need your mls and then do a ##prl# navigate to the windows folder i think.

guys. seriously. YOU ARE REPLACING FILES WITH IDENTICAL FILES. THIS "FIX" ACCOMPLISHES NOTHING IN 2.3.1. NOTHING. YOURE NOT MAKING ANY CHANGE WHATSOEVER. ITS THE SAME AS IT WAS BEFORE YOU "FIXED" IT.
i have yet to be given directions to reproduce someones problems. im really not looking forward to support/troubleshooting now after people have mixed around oemdrivers files when they didnt need to.

Either they not good OEM's or u putting them on wrong folder! Oem always show up in buildOS ,not always work but!
I was putting them in the OEM folder, just like I should... I ended up moving them into the sys folder and they worked just fine, with the exception of PHMRegedit.. no big deal. I can install it manually..

A friend of mine with a Titan wants me to help him upgrade his ROM, I was thinking of loading this kitchen on there. What problems would we run into in the future if the official rom comes out and he wants that loaded instead?
I am wondering about that part for myself as well, is it easy to go to an official rom from this?
Thanks and keep up the great work, its greatly appreciated!

How do I get rid of the Test Only - Not For Sale startup? I thought that it did it when I upgraded from the leaked Sprint rom to a DCD rom last time it went away, but now when I use the newest ROM it is still there. Any ideas...i did search, but found very little

Using 2.2.3
This is what I found. Rebooted computer. Ran BuildNB.bat. Did not add any additional OEM's. Left default selections. Built ROM and flashed. tested Bluetooth by going to settings, connections, BT, and it worked fine.
Then I ran BuildNB.bat (without rebooting) and this time added my OEM's. Selected them in the kitchen and flashed. This time going to settings, connections, BT I get the error that no BT device detected. I've used these OEM's on previous kitches just fine. Very wierd.

DCD,
Any luck in finding (and fixing) the anomolie that causes messages to stay in the outbox for several syncs when using Exchange? This causes the recipients to receive multiple copies of the same message.
Thanks

Its funny you say that I was just about to post that they must extract it to a NEW folder otherwise it does not get overwritten properly.

try restarting windows, then deleting the whole directory. Unrar the file and start all over. (somehow the files are locked....)

OK something interesting here on the BT issue. On 2.3.0 i built a rom using the default Titan comm manager. My BT failed like the others, "No BT hardware installed". I rebuilt, reflashed, same thing. I went back and rebuilt the rom but this time using the 10-Button comm manager and now my BT works. Coincidence? Maybe. Just thought i would share in case this data point helps.

Tethering to a laptop: I was wondering if there are any steps that are necessary to tether the device to my laptop. Do i need to mask the fact that I'm tethering? People are claiming that it is possible to disable something in the NAI and this will also increase the speed to about 1100-1500kbps

I'm using the Verizon phone/ROM and having no BT troubles. Is anyone else with VZ experiencing issues, or is just the Sprint users?
In fact, I got a comment today that for the first time in a while the hissing, popping, and echoes were gone. The only change would have been this recent release.
