Hello,

I have designed a intermediate LED driver that sits between the led driver and decides which calls to pass through and whether to redirect them or not.

NEW VERSION 1.5 with sleep. Fixes registry release issue.

http://www.weienterprises.com/nue/nueled.pnghttp://www.weienterprises.com/nue/nueledconfig.png

Basically, you can now turn off your signal light, make it flash blue instead of green, or whatever you wish. So far it's been tested on the titan and the kaiser, but should work on any device that uses ALLLEDMGR. nueLED renames allledmgr to LED2: and names itself LED1:. Please let me know if it works/doesn't work on your device.

Settings are stored in the registry, -1 means active and -2 means inactive, any other number is a redirect. To figure out new addresses, use diagnostic mode in settings.

Heres a short tutorial on how to make your signal LED flash blue:
Select the signal led from the list. It has address 8, mode 1.
Select the option "Redirect to LED Address", and select bluetooth LED.
Soft-Reset your device.

Your signal LED should now be blue!

If you use the cab version and decide to remove it, you need to set
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\AllLEDMgr]
"Index"=dword:1

and perorm a soft reset to re-enable the old led driver. Also delete the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\nueLED] key.

You can find nueLED at http://www.weienterprises.com/nue
Stroths has provided a cab version for your convenience.

A program to help you control your leds, nueLEDControl is also included. The syntax is relatively simple, i.e. nueLEDControl "address" "mode".

If you appreciate nueLED, donations are welcome. Comments, bug reports, etc. are also welcome.

this is fantastic!
i have it installed on my HTC Touch, seems to work fabulous.
when its charging however, i tried to change it to the blue led, but it did not go to it...might be a small bug?

hmmm ... did you set 34 to redirect to 32? ... It will only cause the blue led to flash, not stay lit.

Also, diagnostic mode is not working in v1.1, I am updating that right now, 1.2 will fix the problem.

I tried this on a magician and now, even after uninstall, all my leds are dead, is ther a registry key I must delete?
Thank you for a great piece of software, too bad it doesnt work on my model...
:(

--edit--

Nevermind, I deleted the nueLED entry on the registry, reseted and its all working again.

Is there any way of dicovering the number of the led colors in a magician? the settings cjheck area doesnt do anything for me...

sorry about your leds, you just need to set the registry setting
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\AllLEDMgr]
"Index"=dword:1

If you could post allledmgr.dll for your device, perhaps i can make it compatible =)

yes, there is a way, however a bug is preventing the diagnostic mode from working - 1.2 will fix that... should be released real soon.

if nothing has changed it just means the led addresses are different most likely, the redirection is working.

i posted a new version, but a cab is not yet available yet, you'll have to wait for stroths to update.

Sends my Touch Dual Mental! It even changed the backlight brightness when the diagnostic mode is enabled, and seems to report an alternating led value of 8 and 2 with the occasional 4 thrown in :-S Lol

<Update>

It seems that the cab version does not uninstall. I had to manually uninstall by reading through the setup.xml file and deleting the files and entries. Still can not delete the empty key "nueLED" in HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn (Using Resco or the remote registry tool from MS). Any suggestions?

stop the driver using dotfred task manager, and you should be able to delete it. read first post about allledmgr

I'm having trouble getting the phone to wakeup from standby. It seems the screen stays black when I push the power up button. The LED starts blinking but the screen won't come on. I redirected the blinking green signal light to blue.

Using a sprint touch.

Doesn't seem to work at all actually regardless of the setting. Always stops the phone from waking up

Tried completely uninstalling by manually deleting reg keys and uninstalling through the manager.

I started out simple by just disabling the blinking signal and blinking charger LEDs. It works great until the phone goes into lock mode and deactivates the screen. When I push the power button the screen simply does not come back on. I use s2u2, perhaps this has something to do with it.

When I changed the signal to blinking blue it would do so after I would push the power button but would not turn the screen back on.

the LED's flash when GSM signal is available, BT or WiFi is on and when charging/syncing. I will try a backport of 3.5 or force a mixed install of a 2.0 and 3.0 .net release and let you know.

Can you make Start-Parameter? Example i start the "nuLED.exe" with this Parameter "-AllLEDSOff". Than all LEDS are Off, without i press any button or Softreset. This is good when you don´t like the LEDS night in a car or....

hmm. you have to send the reset leds signal constantly to keep leds from flashing, or if you want to permantly, just deactivate them in settings. some settings may still require soft reset

i will look into adding the parameters allledsoff into nueledcontrol.

it looks like your allledmgr has the same iocontrols. Its very possible registry entires are different for wm2003, in about, do you see nueLED driver version:1004, or unknown?

if it says unknown, the driver wasn't installed properly, im not familiar with wm2003 registry, so you might have to figure out how to install it yourself...

Thanks you very much, but don´t forget the allledson :-D

And include the Reset LEDs so i don´t need to softreset.

So i can make a Script with Mort Script that runs nueledcontrol with parameter allledson and GSM Off/On. Than the LED´s working without Softreset :-D Very cool, i can´t wait anymore :-D

My Donation (15$) is on the way.

thank you very much,

i have decided that i will implement a new mode in the driver that will ignore all led signals.

basically, you would run nueledcontrol -alloff, it would send the command off to all adresses and put the driver to sleep, so no more led notifications.

then, you run nueledcontrol -allon, and it wakes the driver back up. sound like what you want?

i'd implement this right now, but i need sleep =) ill do it when i wake up.

what do you mean it doesn't run perfectly? what does it do wrong?...

i'm not sure about the address of the red led, if someone could find out it would be good. its not possible yet to flash the blue led continously, it may be posible in the future, as im not sure what the last 18 bytes of the iocontrol are for...

But when the system goes into standby, the green LED goes off. This standby bug also happens when I redirect the "Notification LED" to "Charging LED".

When I redirect the "Notification LED" to "Bluetooth LED" the bug doesn´t appears. The blue LED is blinking fine after the device switch into standby.

What you can fix this "little" issue, the donations is yours. :)

ah, i know about this issue. It probably has something to do with the last 16 bytes which i am unclear about, or the rate the system issues the charging notifications, if you go into diagnostic mode, you will see the system refreshes the charge light every 10 seconds while other leds such as the flashing leds are only refreshed once or twice...

I'll be looking into this =p.

I have trie to uninstall it. I have done the registry setting:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\AllLEDMgr]
"Index"=dword:1But both LEDs are dead now. It seems also impossible to remove the program from the installed programs list. When I try to remove it, I received the following message:

no2chem was not completely removed. Do you want the remove it from the list of installed programs?

edit: Ok. LEDs working now. But still impossible to remove nueLED. I have also tried to delete the nueLED Key in HLKM/Drivers/BuiltIn. But this cannot be deleted.

After a few uninstalls and reinstalls my LEDs didn't come on at all and my vibrate stopped working, lol. So I just did a hard reset. Should I hold off on installing 1.4 and just stick with 1.2, which worked fine for me?

Will this applicaiton allow me to set new email or sms or IM notifications the to the bluetooth blue led on Hermes and keep it soild on instead of flashing?

I read that Hermes flashing is controlled by software while the other newer HTC devices is controlled by hardware so it should be possible then for Hermes to keep LED soild on or flashing based on software controller.

I am waiting for the next version before trying it out since I am reading some folks having a small issues with the current 1.4 version .

Thanks

you might have to use diagnostic mode to figure out the code, the mode might not be 1 or 2. If you drain you battery and get the red led to flash, it would be great if you could post the iocontrol (the hex digits in the textbox in diagnostic mode) so i could take a closer look at it. Thanks!

"Index"=dword:1

and perorm a soft reset to re-enable the old led driver.

Thank you for your great job, but I wonder if you could make this work on any non-HTC device too, like Atom/Atom life ?

Anyone know the addresses for the Vogue?

There are 2 separate LEDs behind the speaker grill, and only the bluetooth address is know for the LED on the right. I know it is also capable of orange and red (as per the manual). The cycle mode does not activate those LEDs so it must be an exotic address like for the red and slow orange for the left LED.

Any ideas?

was using 1.3 just to get rid of signal led and it worked... now i see 1.5 has some additional features so i installed it... ran into the registry problem as well but read through here and found deleting the tree and reinstalling 1.5 fixed it..

all seems good now! however, im wondering... what all are you guys using this for as customization?

i would like to assign different color led's to diff types of notifications... like 1 for txt msg 1 for email etc... but they are all assigned to same notification led right? no way to do what im tryin to do?

Tomorrow when I get home from work I will install the app on my Sprint touch and pull up the Address for the LEDs on the touch... I should be able to have an almost dead battery by then... Will make sure the wife runs the thing low during the day..

No2Chem there is no known reg issues with the Sprint touch right? I will of course backup before hand but I would prefer not taking that route.

BTW,

I have both phones available to me pretty much all the time... If ya need help I dont mind

Hi, I would like to use your app, but it's not working on my WM5 Trinity.
After install nueLED (v. 1.5) and soft-reset it ends up with dead LEDs.

In nueLedControl, when I press "Enter diagnostics mode" (or "cycle LEDS"), error message is shown - "Couldn't enter diagnostic mode!"

I have AllLEDMgr.dll (36 968 bytes) in windows folder, but I'm unable to copy it out.

Any hints for me?

thanks

try zipping the file(compress), if possible using Resco Explorer..used that method once to extract the tmail.exe so it ought to work on the dll as well..

Hello no2chem,

I have a problem. I redirect the notification LED (orange) with the Bluetooth LED (blue). All work ok. But when a message come in and i read the messages and go back to desktop, the new blue notification LED is still blinking. I must do a softreset to kill the blue LED.

Then i redirect the signal LED (green) with the notification LED (orange) but then, the signal LED let show 3 x orange and then its over. no more LED light impulse was shown.

What do i wrong?

I love this program and i made a donate for you :-)

it looks like your allledmgr has the same iocontrols. Its very possible registry entires are different for wm2003, in about, do you see nueLED driver version:1004, or unknown?

if it says unknown, the driver wasn't installed properly, im not familiar with wm2003 registry, so you might have to figure out how to install it yourself...

Sorry to answer so late, I didnt saw this post untill just now.
Yes, it does say unknown so it must be a registry-related issue.

I'm not used to play with the registry but i'm confident I tried most of the normal procedures to make this work...

I get that some REG values are related to the software as a normal application and dont interact with the system itself, such as:

HKLM\Security\AppInstall\nueLED LED Intermediate Driver\ExecutableFiles
HKLM\Software\Wei Enterprises\nueLED
HKLM\Software\Wei Enterprises\nueLED\Config

But these I really dont know what should be doing or where:

HKLM\ControlPanel\MyCPL\26
HKLM\ControlPanel\26

"26" is this some kind of code number for an already existing driver in wm5/6?
Because in 2003 I see nothing else like it near the place its in... Everything else has names, not numbers.

HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\AllLEDMgr
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\nueLED

these should be the drivers that control everything, right?
I tried renaming the nueLED to allLEDmgr but that didnt work, then I tried to go inside AllLEDMgr and rename the AllLEDMgr.dll to nueled.dll but that didnt work either...

After that I tried to change the default value from 1 to 2 inside the renamed AllLEDMgr key, still no go.
And finally I replaced all back and just tried to rename the dll themselves inside the windows folder (I'm not sure if the system actually allowed me to do that or if it just fooled me to think I did, the kb size of the files didnt seem right). Aaaaand still nothing.

so, any ideia what to try next? I'm available to try untill a hard reset with no problems.
:D

BTW, the normal way of working in my wm2003 is the folowing:
- I install the program and reset the device
- Once ON, all led activity stops and he doesnt light up again.
- In the ABOUT area of the software it says UNKNOWN.
- I uninstall the software and reset the device.
- Once ON, all led activity is back to normal.

So, if he DOES manage to disconnect the main led, he must be doing something right...

Nice prog no2chem! I always hated that signal-present green light! What I would prefer though, is to be able to invert its functionality: flashing when NO-SIGNAL is present. You think maybe you could add an "invert" option along with "Enable"/"Disable"?

red led: address 4, mode 4
orange (slow) notification led: address 4, mode 8

you will need to add address 4, mode 0 and set it to disable, or else the led will turn off by itself.

curious... what is 4, 0 and why would that turn it off?

twolf, the cpl entries are just to add an app to the control panel

from what you're telling me, it seems like allledmgr is being uninstalled properly, but my driver is not, since you are seeing the software:unknown message.

if allledmgr is uninstalled, you will see no led activity. It is possible that my driver is not compatible with wm2003 =( I have no wm2003 device to test it on though...

nueledcontrol.exe wakeup

This little freeware tool makes my magician blink orange:

I attached some files that dont come with that zip but came as an explanation on the previous version on how to make things work.

Since I suffer from colour-blind (minor), i can't differentiate the signal & notification LEDs on my TyTN II. So, this app really helps me. I redirect the Notification LED to bluetooth (I can see blue, no problem) Thanks.

However, as you pointed out, the LED stays on even after I've read my messages. At the moment, I dismiss it by either using your Extra>Reset LEDS, or I turn on bluetooth & turn it off again. However, I hope you find a solution to make it disappear after the message has been read

Why doesn't it like address:80?

hmm, i see the error, i forgot to write the string in hex which causes issues for addresses 80 or higher...

you can manually fix it in the registry, just change S50_1 and M50_1 to S80_1 and M80_1, it will be fixed in the next release.

i suggest no one else install this crap.. it sucks when you install an app and the developer isn't around to help fix the issues he/she created for the people testing the app.

i learned my lesson by installing other peoples sloppy coded apps.. run sprite backup before you install any application, that way you have a way of going back if the app screws up your phone.

2. i went to hklm drivers builtin AllLEDMgr and changed the Index key to 1
3. deleted the hklm drivers builtin nueLED completly.
4. Soft reset

I had a led redirection before installation but i leaved it as i configured (bluetooth led was the notification led) and with this modification ON i unistalled alright.

Does anyone know how to keep the red led blinking? It works until my screen turns off, then it shuts off. I am using a Vogue and have added the LED address of 4,0 and disabled it (as someone mentioned earlier in the thread as a method to keep the red flashing). Prior to adding this it would only blink twice. I've tried using it for notification as well as Bluetooth, and it shuts off in both instances. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm using S2U2 in case that matters.

Additionally, does anyone know if there is an address for the red led to remain constantly on? I like having a solid light for my notifications, so I know I have one as soon as I look at my phone. I've been using the orange solid, but red would be nicer :)

Cheers!

These steps didn't work? worked for me. WM6.1.

"If you use the cab version and decide to remove it, you need to set
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\AllLEDMgr]
"Index"=dword:1

and perorm a soft reset to re-enable the old led driver. Also delete the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\nueLED] key."

Hello. This application looks really nice but i have question. All what i need to do with leds on my HTC Kaiser is change led notification for charging and for notification (when is unread message or missed call). Both i need to change from orange to red (when charging is solid light and when notificated then blinkink). Is it possible? Thanks for any reply. Best regards.

Anybody can tell me that it is possible?

"Index"=dword:1

and perorm a soft reset to re-enable the old led driver.

Hi I'd like to kill the orange LED but to use the red one.

Unfortunately the software doesn't seem to work on my german Hermes. I can't replace the given LED adresses by another and if I use "cycle LEDs" it only shows the green and orange one. No bluetooth, no WLAN, no red LED. So... they don't have any adresses :-/

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

HTC Kaiser (TyTN II) users avoid this program!
This will kill your LEDs, than the program cannot uninstalled.
Must do hard reset to escape of it.

Hi,
I don't think it was a good advice.
I myself have tried it and not really able to make it works to my liking. So, just follow the procedure on how to gain control of the LED and uninstall the program.
Done that and no problem so far and the LEDs are back to normal.
Be sure to soft reset after the uninstallation.

morisa

I did soft reset after unistall, but the program is still there and no any LED functioning.
May be not all device has the same problem, but at least I had, so I just want warn others don't make the same mistake. Anyhow hard reset can solve the problem finally :)

works on the htc universal... but found a bug... seems like the bluetooth on/off is overiding the signal led indicator during startup (after reboot) such that after the setting up and the soft reset... the blue led will light up for the signal (so its working)... then suddenly stop after the device successfully boots to the desktop. no more blue led blinking to indicate there is a signal. so i tried going to flight mode then back to phone mode... and the blue led will start blinking again. this time it will not stop. looks like during startup... the device will check if bluetooth is on or off then sends the command to stop the blue led blinking since it is off... thereby affecting/stopping the blue led indicator which was intended for the signal indicator.

maybe u can fix this? :)

great program by the way!

cheers!

I have a Tytn with WM6 on it. I found the battery.dll file (http://www.weienterprises.com/nue/battery.html), read the instructions, but I'm still unsure on how to install it.

Can anyone help? Can I reverse the installation if it doesn't work?

Thanx,
Dan

I have had problems on my Sprint Touch! I tried to uninstall but it is alive I think! lol It has bricked my Touch. It messed up my LEDs: I had two leds @ one time and when I tried to soft reset it came back on and still had two LEDs on the orange + a lavender one! Glad I have insurance.....

Forgive me, although I have not read EVERY post of the 12, um 24, pages of this thread, I have read SEVERAL and have tried several searches. Still got questions.

Using a Sprint Mogul, wm6. Seems to install and work like it's supposed to. Unlike most people on here, I am having trouble with discerning the features. Ok, I tried Dx tool. I really don't know how to read it. It just seems to list things endlessly. For a little, there is a zero. Then I hit a 6F. I stopped it, started again, started at zero. In a little bit, it changed to 30. I see that is an address, but for what, I'm clueless. Is there supposed to be a brief excerpt or a led flash when it hits that address? I also cycled all the LEDs. But again, I don't know what was going on, if I should have looked for something in particular...?

Does anyone happen to have the LEDs mapped out for the HTC Mogul? Oh, wait, you said it may be that addresses differ even among the same device, right? I don't mind doing it, if I knew how :-) I sure don't want to go the reg hack method.

Neat program!

I found this while searching the WWW for something to "clear" the LED indicator.

My AT&T Tilt (Kaiser) gets "stuck" flashing orange even after I've viewed the messages, or missed calls or whatever. Would be nice to have a command line utility to just "clear" the state so they'd go back to normal...

Maybe this program could do that or allieviates that issue, but it isn't evident how...

Mine gets stuck in orange mode too. I think there is a Reset button to go back to the original setup.
