Why not?

Specifically, because my bank tried to fax me something to my cel the other day (WTF???) and I thought, hey, I wonder...?

I know that in Outlook 2007 you can receive faxes through some configuration.

Im not sure if this pocket version of Outlook has that capability. Maybe if it was faxed to your account on the Exchange Server and then downloaded on your phone then you would be able to view it.;)

True that. But some people are old school and still use it. Others dont have access to a scanner to import a document and then email it. That is why they probably still uses fax machines.;)

If I could receive faxes on my phone, it wouldn't need paper, now would it? :p:rolleyes:

c@rL0$, pretty sure receiving faxes into O2K7 requires a fax-enabled Exchange server as well. I'm not using an Exchange server, so...

Hmmm, speaking of paper... anyone know if this thing can print to an IR-capable printer, like my Treo?

Yes this feature is enabled in the Exchange Server. I use a Exchange Server from work to receive Faxes and no you dont need paper.lol.

You can ask your bank to scan it and send it to you through email.
Also i dont think our phones have the right protocol / profile to print through IR. Maybe if you can manage to find software that enables this then it could possible work for you.;)

Well, I don't know that it was even anything important from the bank, as they never called to ask for a different fax number or anything... *shrug* not too worried about it, just thought it would be handy to be able to receive faxes directly to my phone.

Apparently someone though it was a good idea to be able to receive a fax on the headset.

Good find bro:)

Does this work on WM 6 or 6.1?

Cause I was reading through the instructions and it is meant for Pocket PC. I know it should work for our phone but it looks old school like it was meant for WM 5 or earlier.

If you really need a fax number go to efax.com they will give you a fax number for free and then email faxes to you. they come in tiff format.

we use a similiar thing...fax2mail.com, they send in pdf.....those 2 programs that were linked to in this thread can only send faxes, not receive.

I thought our phones could use ir to print info. I just tried it on my work printer and it finds the printer and the model number but doesn't go through. I just figured ir printing was disabled since we work with Medical records and everything. This would be great if it works

Hello everyone, I just trying to figure out my new fax machine. It’s hooked up on the same line as my phone with no special ring service. The answering machine picks up in the middle of a incoming fax. Does this mess up the incoming fax or does it not matter? What happens when the answering machine picks up in the middle of a incoming fax? Thank you for any input.

Try eFax, I do it all the time for receiveing faxes in my business (Bank paperwork as well). You really can't send them but there is another program you can use called "PlusFax" that might help you for sending.

Banks don't like to use email because it's not as secure on their end. However, when you encode it on your end, it's your fault for ID theft or whatever because you don't use a secure transmission.

At least that is the reason that my Merchant service provider told me.

I would definitely check out plusfax too.

Umm, not sure what this has to do with the Titan, but... your fax machine should have two phone jacks, one you plug into the wall and one you plug your phone or answering machine into. Most of them, when they pick up, will disconnect the second jack, so it can't disturb the fax transmission.
