Hello,

I've bought the Orange SPV M500 a couple of months ago, but I dropped it and now the speaker is not working anymore. A friend of mine has the same one, and he gave it to me. Very happy about that ofcourse.

The strange thing is, when I put my simcard in his M500 it says: missing simcard or invalid.
He called customer service of Orange and the phone is unlocked. But still I get this message with my simcard.

It seems I have a new kind of simcard (UMTS or something). But everyone else can use the phone, even from a different provider.

I would like to use my friends M500...how can I fix this simproblem?

My M500 has operator version 6.06.3.162 and the M500 from my friend 6.12.3.172. Maybe this gives someone a clue?

Thanks in advance!

Hi!

I guess this is not the answer you were expecting but if I were you, I'd try to fix your device instead (unless it's broken into pieces).
It's relatively easy to disassemble the device and get the speaker back right.
The chances are that on the impact it became displaced and, since the electrical connections to the speaker are just made by springloaded contacts, if the speaker goes out of place or is pressed hard, the contacs are no longer made and, thus, you have no sound on the speaker.

There is a photographic tutoral made by a member of this forum where that issue is exactly addressed; You might want to take a look at this thread:

If you still want to use your friend's device, then I guess you have to flash a new rom in it and you can find the procedures on the XDA-Wiki:
