Car charging problem with 02 xda 2i

Need some help if anybody can. My xda 2i will charge off the usb cradle and wall charger fine, but when i charge it off the car lead it doesn't light up as charging at all, when i plug it into my gps cradle in the car it won't charge it, the backlight still goes off and no amber light, yet it still receives signal for TomTom? any advice please?

I had something similar happen on my car kit cradle. Turned out to be a dud connection on the socket soldered to the XDA2i motherboard inside. Charged ok in the O2 cradle on my desk but no go in the car. Had to do a full backup, open it up and re solder 1 pin on the connection with a fine soldering iron. Hope yours is something else although it gave me the opportunity to solder the metal frame each side of the socket to the XDA2i motherboard so it wont be disturbed again.
