HUH !!...Apart From Being Hospitalised and being ordered to Bed-rest by my mum and dad...i have created a very fast and stable Windows Mobile 6.1 for the Precious Hima's...Beleive me it took 16 flashes to make it perfect...but if still it lacks something please do post your feedback

Tried it with Firefox 2 and Firefox 3 Beta 3... both don't work :(

Did you check the internet sharing application that it does work? I have a question for you if you have to recommend a WM 6.1 Rom to people, which ROM you likely would recommend? I could ask the magic 8 ball but then in my religion we have a whole different concept.

I have the same problem - pressing calculator keys doesn't result in anything, the numeric display stays blank. Pressing some of the keys the "+" and "m" would light-up as pressed big portion of keyboard - many of the keys.

Otherwise I love it. :)

What RAMDisk size have you kept?
I was seeing on one of your post on some thread about your findings on survival of RAMDisk-contents after Hard reset.

May I add to it for all those who want to know more about it that:
When you flash another ROM having larger-than-before RAMDisk size then the contents shall survive the Hard reset. But, when you flash the ROM having RAMDisk size smaller-than-befor then the RAMDisk contents shall be lost.

Secondly,
I have released the upgrade (version 6.1.1b.16CS) Which has major changes over first release. So use that for your works and you shall get still better results.

The "Calculator bug" appears after changing regional settings to German (and others??).

It would seam that changing the regional settings is indeed relevant to the problem, however upon examining other skins, it would seam that poorlyduck's skin, is a little bit out of "spec". I prepared a fix. Since I can not change files on the ROM, the solution isn't elegant, but it works nonetheless. I was unable to make a .CAB, sorry. My CAB Manager is constantly crashing. Feel free to make a .CAB as you see fit. :)

To apply the fix:
- Copy .PNG files to "\Windows" folder
- Use the .REG file to change registry
or
- Use Registry Editor to manualy change registry, navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Spb Software House\Spb Calculator and change key "FileType" from "gif" to "png"

hi guys i took this rom...i looks great, but the ramdisk is not sufficient for me so followed the steps of c-shekhar

1. Extract NK.nba
> xda2nbftool -x NK.nbf NK.nba 0×20040304

2. Open NK.nba with a Hex Editor
3. Go To Address 0x00456250 (since this is a WM6.1)
4. modified as follows:
FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF 00 00 00 04 --> 64 MB program, memory: RAMdisk= 64MB
4. Updated the Image Check Sum
> xda2nbftool -c -u NK.nba

5. Repack as NK.nbf
> xda2nbftool -x NK.nba NK.nbf 0×20040304

6. Put in the same directory as HimaUpgradeUt.exe or HimaUpgradeUt_NoID.exe

7. Flashed normally

but !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i have a problem i keep getting the error that the check sum is incorrect

The ROM is fast and stable. Amazingly the internet sharing does work. But A2DP doesn’t work and I can’t use Voice Command via Bluetooth. Also, 4 GB SDHC card is not working on it either.

Yes, the same for me. It happend after I tried to install my wifi drivers, so I had to do a hard reset to be able to use activesync again.

I also had this problem, but i fixed this by turning off the option "recieve all incoming beams" in my settings.

Hi, there im trying to improve my xda skills for some times , bot i have a big prob every time if flasch to wm6. no active sync!! Allways this answer with the prototype ect. After changing USb TO PC Settings the devive blocs every action. Then i tryed to sync after i changed WM5torage to aktive - still no chanche to sync because of the leak of driver.
I still use active sync 3.8 and 4.0 on two notebooks, cause there was no reason to change till now. This bug in the calculator is noting , because wm6 is english. Try to translate it to German with the help of the german kitchen of teflock. don´t know if it´ll work but i hope so.

Cool, works fine. But i still have probs to connect to Internet. Even with my SD-Wlan Card connected to my router something is wrong with the connection settings. i don´t know why it needs settings at all. And what about this WLAN MANAGER? I thougt only the 2i has got Wlan onboard.

With a few backups of the Extended Rom and/or Storage or the original FlashRom from the O2-Homepage and the help of this tiny tool PPCPimBackup.cab you can export and import back and forth. HimaDocTool and HimaDocTool Restore are important and working really fine. Flashing and testing the ROMs is a big fun, because both are great work. I think, it wouldn´t be fair to discuss wich one is better, because they are different and both worth to be tryed.

I used the extended rom unlocker to get Storage of 30.53mb
i also have program memory of 77.23MB of which 17.78 is in use and 59.46 free

when i install and cab programs the only place i can install to is Storage ( i have no choice as i dont get an option for anywere else)
how can i install stuff to program memory? is program memory the RAMDisk?

Also i cannot browse the web over wifi
I installed my Spectec wifi card and it picks up an ip address etc
but i cannot borwse any pages, even my router's config page.
in ie i just get a "cannot connect" error and tells me to change connection

For me, I use HimaDOC Tool as discribed in a thread to get big Storage, But even without I was asked to install on device or on RAMdisc. After unlocking installing on EXTROM too, I think, but I´m not sure anymore. After upgrading the old Win2k3 cabs in the EXTRom were still there, it disappeared after using HimaDOC, but this is logic, because the storage is reorganized. We both have the same WIFI prob. I think it is a prob with Internet sharing, we can´t choose WiFi to get the net.

Did anybody wonder about, that it seams to be impossible to deinstall progs with -Settings -Managed Programs. There isn´t anything in there! Even AS4.5 dosn´t help. With the tool named ThrottleLauncher, I found a way to try to deinstall the way as in wm2k3se. But no way to get rid of testing zombies, the Data-storage is nearly full-I think I have to hard reset. Some of these progs make confliks so my Start menu dosn´t behave like it should do. I think maybe this might be an effect of ramdisk beeing soft-reset resistend.

No problem..make sure you have properly connected the USB cable to the Back panel of you PC..not the front Ports ( on the casing )...then Enter bootloader mode and when you read "USB" on the screen (try too look hard as there is no light).start the upgrade utility and Flash Away..if you get any problem just PM me

ok, then both are worth a try and i want to try flashing one of the rom, i have already downloaded the instructions and i am currently in indonesia, can i just swap it without having any troubles using the gprs and so on, what i meant is it compatible in Indonesia, cause i am using indonesia gsm provider..

No need to be so extra cautious. This is place for daredevils who dont sometimes care for the breach of warrantee. So the advice is .... take a plunge and you shall definitely enjoy. Use Dotfred's ppcpimbkup utility for 2003 for backing up your SMS and restore them using same utility for WM5 .

how to backup and restore with outlook, i have tried it and i cant.. i am using outlook 2007, i have a issue going on, i cant proceed to flash my rom until i get my sms backup and restore successfully, i have tried ppcimbackup but there is a bug, all the sent items is not displaying anything, got the sentitems box but there is nothing inside.. plain....

i tried to change my screen from portrait to landscape and when i do a soft reset, the display change back into portrait view but when i clik it is in the landscape mode..

morethen less, i use my feeling to go to settings and change it back to portrait mode..

can anyone tell me why is that so? is that a bug or something?

o yah, one more thing, when check into my memory i found out that i still have a free memory(ramdisk) 15.83mb in the storage card section, can i partion it into my memory, so that i can have more stuffs in my pda.. and does it affect speed performance?

Thanks, a lot for the link. Meanwhile I found the reason, why i couldn´t download.
I had to switch to IE-Tab, because I usualy use firefox. Only with the IE-Engine Buzzdev.net supports the possibility to download. I tryed to edit my last post but you were faster than me. I think, I have to learn a lot more than i know now, but my German WM6 based on Teijak with HTC Home and Cube etc is nearly finished. Working great. Guys, you are the best.

my questions is why i cant install programs into the programs memory? is there a way to alocate the programs memory to storage memory?

my questions is why i cant install programs into the programs memory? is there a way to alocate the programs memory to storage memory?

or is there any solutions :) pls help out.. managed to flash the rom but still newbie didnt know how to maximize my device..

Couse the program memory in PPC same with RAM in PC desktop, there for running program. all installing program allocated in Storage or SD/MMC. You can't install anythings in program memory..:D

gee now i understand and one more stupid question, as u know hima wm2003 is famous from hardreset or battery dead our data will go bye2....sayonara..

cause now our hima is using mr.ather great rom, if it suddenly encounter battery dead, will our data be gone?(just to make sure, i have test it so far no hard reset)

No the Data will not be goe because its hardreset and soft reset persistent
which means that no data will be lost even if u take out the battery

i have done it, wow thats really fast in fly answers :D

i am using ur rom about two weeks already and i want give comments, everything is PERFECTO, great rom! great features! and i just love this rom..

its stable also and after i fix the screen rotation, it works even more PERFECTO!

but, if i may add.. there is one small tiny issue Mr.Ather, if can the first welcoming design improvised a bit... or maybe i can help with the design :D:D

o yah, got 1 question, this rom already have the default for rotating screen right? and i have already installed the cab for fixing it but if i do soft reset how it come out message saying "application already running, want to close it?" kinda of something like that and i notice there is no screen changing icon in below taskbar

but if i do the second time reset it will appear finely and without coming any message too

works great i love it i have been using it since you first uploaded it
on flow i found and it was that during a phone call i cannt access the contacts using the key numbers (if i press the numbers with the letters i dont get the contacts....)
i am not sure this is something you can fix may be it is built that way ?

Hi Ather! Thanks for the great ROM! but one thing bothers me - the sound notifiers/alerts. Even if i have set it to my desired sound alerts or tones, it didn't plays it when, for example, i receive a call; It plays only it's default tones and the same with the SMS receive alert tone. Please do add GSFinder as the default File Explorer it is much more useful than the good old File Explorer which is a useless creation. Also, please, include the phone utility which enables multiple contact selection. Allah waastay ye kaam zaroor kerna bhai!

And yes please, guide me, if you can, I have Qtek 2020, Pocket PC Phone. I use your rom; the Wifi/Wlan only shows the link: Turn ON WLAN when i tap this link nothing happens. The same was the case with shekhar's previous roms.

Just read about UC and A2D ,those are 2 awsome and well thought out programs and will make this rom really special to use.A2D reminds me of a program on the PSP called InstallOtron by Fanjita and his crew,it has been adopted by loads of developers and makes choosing and upgrading software a pleasure,it connects to the PSP Homebrew Database (http://www.psp-homebrew.eu/) to download the latest software.I hope you get your Qtek2020 tommorow,i am looking forward to loading this rom on my qtek and having fun with UC and A2D :)

Just upgraded a Himalaya that work had doing very little and it all went very easily. Had to do the HimaDOC to get TomTom installed on it, there wasn't a huge amount of installable space for progs.

Have to say that so far all seems very stable and fast.

I used the extended rom unlocker to get Storage of 30.53mb
i also have program memory of 77.23MB of which 17.78 is in use and 59.46 free

when i install and cab programs the only place i can install to is Storage ( i have no choice as i dont get an option for anywere else)
how can i install stuff to program memory? is program memory the RAMDisk?

Also i cannot browse the web over wifi
I installed my Spectec wifi card and it picks up an ip address etc
but i cannot borwse any pages, even my router's config page.
in ie i just get a "cannot connect" error and tells me to change connection
have wifi issue ever got resolved, I spend hours , no go.
Had to reflash to c_shekhar wm6 rom: although comms manager still does not pick up wifi I can use exporer etc. It was working fine in wm5 flash

seems like there is a call register problem with the displaying time

example :

day 1>> BEN misscalled to my phone and yes its recorder properly with the time of misscalled

day 2>> BEN miscalled to my phone and when i check to the record, i cant find the exact time, cause the record says its time still day 1

i have tried using my another cellphone and miscalled day 1 and day 3 and the same issue

my solution is everytime i have miscalled i clear it up after checking it

I've seen this once, the culprit was some stupid utility. So please try with no additional software.

maybe Wiki! but I install again TOFCLCK WM6 and everything work fine! sometime block when I clik buton to camera... then Hyma open Pictures&Videos ... :D neverending story... but I love my Hima!

Hello Ather and every one
First of all, thanks for your grate ROM, I have just upgrade from WM2003 so it is like to drive in A mercedes instead of in an old auotobianchi.
It is fast and stable.
My only problem for now is that my SD WI-FI LAN card (PRETEC), is not working, and i can't enable the wi-fi feture in the connection setting wisard.
Any idea how to fix this issue ?

Hi.
I'm new here.

I've a Qtek 2020 since 2005 with Windows Mobile 2003 and I never have used it.
It has:
ROM version: 1.75.04ITA
ROM date: 01/20/05
Protocol version: 1337.24
ExtROM version: 1.75.104

My problem, at the moment, is to install JAVA software, but JAVA is supported on WM5 and WM6 only. :mad:

How to solve the problem? I've to buy a new PDA? :)

Can I update Qtek 2020 to Italian WM5 or WM6? Where to download the upgrade?

erm if you can read the topic title, it says WM6.1 so this means that YES YOU CAN!, just follow the correct instructions and ur good to go :)

Thnaks for quick reply.

When I try to follow the instructions (Noob hot to install.txt) I read on the display Serial, after that "USB" (after I connect the device to the PC).

After that I execute the file HimaUpgradeUt_noID.exe from the local disk of the PC but after 2-3 minutes I obtain the error 101: connection error.

Please note that I've installed the last version of ActiveSync (and it works fine with normal use of the Qtek 2020).

Please note that I've Windows Vista Ultimate on my PC.

What can be the problem?

Great ROM ather! Thanks! Most minor problems solved when i read through this thread. Now I only have 1 minor problem. The calculator readout in portrait view is not very clear although in landscape view it's alright. What is the simplest way to correct this?

just replace the SPBCalc_P.png file with a skin of your Choice ;) , if u want to change the Landscape version too, change the SPBCalc_L.png too

Thanks for the prompt reply Ather. Just one more thing. How do I deactivate the threaded SMS? After years of getting used to the "unthreaded" SMS, this one is a bit unnatural. I read in shekars thread that they have a .cab file for this. Will it work in your ROM? Thanks!

Sorry to bother you again Ather but I noticed that all programs I install are being stored in the STORAGE (30.53MB) memory instead of the PROGRAM (77.23MB) memory. I installed them from .cab files I placed in my SD card. Is this supposed to happen or is there something wrong with my system? Sorry for being such a noob. If there is a thread that explains this can you direct me to it so I can read and understand it better?

Remember to make a copy of your personal data, eg. with the help of PimBackup WM2003 version, as all those information will be lost.
A backup of the OS you use now is usefull, too. In case something goes wrong or you are not confinced of the WM you flashed.
Most important is that you read carefully first, all information you can get about flashing and the rom you want, untill you are really sure about it. Good luck, and nice to see you here. There should be no prob to flash, in case you are well prepared.
